It would not have been a success without, of course, the gorgeous and functional space ... but most importantly because of the staff and event planner, Denise. We all know location is important, but it's the staff of Warehouse 535 that make this place specular. Only wished I lived in Lafayette to check it out more! Highly recommended for company / organization events!!

They started off strong with their outstanding appetizer sampler and pretty good chips. The sampler had some of the best tasting Mexican American food I've ever had and it really set expectations high for the main meal. Here is where the problem lies. How do you make all this great food and then have bland rice and beans? When I took a bite of their signature burrito I was hit with a salt bomb bite of chicken. Service was 5 stars but the place needs a bit of a once over for cleaning. We will go back and give it another shot

The drinks are festive and generous--we usually downsize so we can pay closer attention to the food. The salsa is fresh (though quite spicy), and the other two dipping sauces were fine. The multicolored tortilla chips (red, green, and yellow) appear to be store-bought. One of us always orders the nachos; the other always orders the burritos. The nachos have come out burnt on two visits and soupy on others--something we hadn't encountered before. The meat in both dishes has repeatedly arrived with an off color that concerned us. On our third visit, the person who had the burritos became ill afterward. We're not sure if the owner is the "Viejo Tony" the name suggests, but the desire for the restaurant to succeed is real. We still hope things improve.

The bartender and even some of the patrons of the bar were really helpful in giving information about the local area. We are new to the area so this was much appreciated. The two things that hurt the rating were the lack of beer and smoking inside. While the smoking inside is something I don't like I can look over that. But being a bar and not having beer is an issue. It wasn't just beer we wanted but it was also beer other patrons wanted. This could be a really great local chill bar if they could keep a steady supply of beer. If they would consider only allowing smoking on the back patio or elsewhere outside the bar would be one of the best bars I've visited. I plan to go again and try their Moscow Mules as the bartender said she could make them.
