This build your own meal is wonderful! The food options are all delicious. The line goes fast and even during the busy lunch hour I was sitting down with my food in minutes. The build- your-own part was intimidating at first but the signs are clear and instructive, so it was no problem once I got started. I will definitely be a regular. read more

I originally gave 5 stars on CAVA at the Reston location one month ago, but deducting 2 stars now based on latest experience yesterday, 9/22/17. Went there yesterday and again very understaffed and out of alot of things that should automatically be maintained without being told. When I got there yesterday, there were only 4 tables of people and no one in line so when I got to the counter I'm standing there and standing there while the staff flitted about ignoring me. I turned to walk away and heard one staff person tell the one closest to where I had been standing to take my order. Now this guy that was told to take my order had been standing only a foot away right at the station before I started to walk away so here he knew he was the one to take my order and he's standing there but he seems totally clueless and ticked that he was told to take my order. After he was directed to help me he's giving me 'the evil eye' like he's mad that he was told to do his job which I thought was so bizarre. Anyway, I go through the line completing my order and proceed to get a drink only to find out they're out of ice plus half the drink containers are almost empty. I tell one of the employees about the absence of ice and the drink containers being close to empty (2 containers already were). I proceed to get utensils but there's only metal knives and plastic utensils. I tell the staff again about the need for metal utensils (especially forks) and one of the employees walks over to the utensil station to look it over and says they have no more forks. I said you mean you have no more forks washed and from what I could gather (it was a bit hard to understand her), she said they had no more utensils and would have to use the plastic. I certainly don't mind using plastic but these are the cheapie kind that break very easily. So again, strange that the staff couldn't seem to be bothered to wash the utensils or add ice or fill the drink station when the place was virtually empty. The capper was that when I went to the loo there was absolutely no soap or towels at all. That told me that not only the employees but all the other customers were spreading germs (e-coli anyone?) for God knows how long. This one restroom is for both men and women but as if having no soap or towels wasn't bad enough, there was urine on the floor around the toilet. I would assume this might be due to a male who had terrible aim (which is just one of the reasons I prefer separate bathrooms). So although the food is good, I find they are totally lacking in taking any initiative to keep the place going unless you tell them to do something. On my way out, I told one of the employee's on the line (no manager or anyone in authority that I could see to speak to), and told this young lady the restroom was out of soap and towels and she barely acknowledges me telling her anything. As I'm walking out I turn back to look at that employee and there's no one in line and she hasn't made any move to tell anyone or God forbid, take the initiative to maybe take care of the soapless bathroom. Yep, I love the food but this place needs some serious oversight in making sure things stay stocked and that you get waited on without the staff having to be constantly told to do their jobs but for me the clincher is knowing that everyone using the restroom before me were not using any soap and the employees knowing this (because they have to use the same loo) were going right back on the line with urine or poopy hands making our meals. Yep, don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Very glad I keep anti-bacterial gel with me. Now let's see if even a manager replies to this posting. read more

I love CAVA, but I don't think this is their best location. The food is fresh and delicious. They have so many different options, including main bases for your bowl such as rice or lettuce. They have a ton of toppings to choose from, which I love. It allows me to customize what I want in it, rather than just ordering a meal off of a menu. This is like the mediterranean version of a Chipotle. It's a great concept with a number of delicious sauces to choose from. The customizable aspect is great for picky, limited eaters. The service is usually quick and friendly. They have meat and vegetarian options as well! They seem to always be adding and fixing the options available for their customers. CAVA is also as of right now, only in the NOVA area so if you're from out of town and are looking for something you can't get anywhere else, I would definitely recommend trying CAVA. I am a returning customer, and I don't see that changing anytime soon! read more

Love this restaurant, a modern and Mediterranean equivalent to Chipotle with fresh ingredients and an open atmosphere.

Cava is great, and this Cava exceeds all expectations the other locations have set down. It is always a unique experience compared to other restaurants (in a good way). My recommendation is a salad or grain bowl because the pitas aren't too filling if you're really hungry. All ingredients are fresh, delicious, and the soda is absolutely amazing! My only complaint is the price, however it is very worth it for them to be able to provide fresh ingredients and great staff for us. I love Cava and will continue to return. read more

I love Cava and have been eating there since the time there were only 2 locations. I was overjoyed when Cava came to Reston as I work there and this is a quick and easy option. The food at this location is great but some of the servers really suck. First they mess up your order and then they give you attitude for messing it up and having to throw it away. Have to ask for the small pita (free with the bowl) each and every time. Falafel is dry per usual so I skip it. Rice helpings are piddly and so are the toppings. They will give you more but you gotto ask. The cava in Vienna, Tyson's and Lee hwy fairfax are as bad if not worse. I like the Bethesda location. read more

Parking lot can be extremely crowded but the line inside moves quickly. Love how you can get so many different toppings that all seem healthy. Very small portions of meat compared to its mexican counterpart but all of the other toppings make up for it in my opinion. read more

With so many different options, I suggest doing a quick search of their menu online to get more info on everything you can add to your bowl, pita or salad. On my first visit to the Reston Cava Mezza, I walked in and turned right around and walked out. The place was FILTHY, absolutely filthy. There was food all over the floor throughout the restaurant, dirty tables, condiments & napkin dispensers covered in smudges and fingerprints -- disgusting. It was so dirty that I was afraid to eat anything as it is clear that cleanliness and safe hygiene and food preparation standards are not a priority. I picked up a to go order got home and realized how old the so called romaine looked which was actually lettuce that was brownish and the rice was beyond hard it wasn't even cooked all the way! As a serviceman I needed to use the restroom. I never do so without getting something. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. However, it was the service that really impressed me. Cava is a great place to eat and i dont deny that. However, they have recently added 'veggies' to their menu. DO NOT TOUCH THEM. Trust me, DO NOT TOUCH THEM. It caused food poisoning and i was down for 4 days. The veggie pieces are half cooked and on top of that they are frozen. This is one of my favorite places to eat when I need something quick. I would choose CAVA over chipotle any day. It's chipotle, but with Mediterranean options. Excellent customer service! I used the mobile app to order lunch from a friend's house and it defaulted to my location in Reston, when I needed to pickup in Fairfax. I called the Reston location, and while this was clearly a user error they phoned in the order to the Fairfax location and it was still ready to pick up at my requested time. They made it so easy for me! I've visited the Reston location twice on other occasions since opening. The food is fresh and the employees were kind. I have been looking for an alternative to Chipotle and CAVA is now my new go-to place to get a quick takeout meal. It essentially is the Mediterranean version of Chipotle in terms of ordering and pricing. You can mix and match meat and falafel, with plenty of accoutrements. However, unlike Chipotle that has cheese quesadillas, my toddler will not eat CAVA's kid's food which is basically a mini pita with meat. The worst part about CAVA in Reston is the service. The employees are nice enough, but if you get in the wrong line, you are stuck with some very slow employees who are not very coherent. Besides some very long lines and longer than optimal wait times, this has caused some errors in food preparation that, when attempting to rectify, you realize it's not worth it to try and explain to the confused workers. Overall, CAVA is good for adults, not as good for toddlers, and its service is hit or miss. read more
