First and foremost, I want to make it known that my family absolutely loves Cava. The flavors are excellent, and it's always nice to have a healthier alternative to fast food. This review is more in relation to *this* particular Cava location. I keep hoping and wishing that it improves but after the last four or five visits, I simply can't recommend it anymore. It wasn't always this way, but within the past 6 months, the quality and value offered by this location has noticeably declined. Whether it's because the half-filled bowls or multiple orders missing ingredients (or ingredients being sold out), there's been a consistent worsening of value with every visit. The staff is friendly and responsive, but I can't get over paying $25 for two bowls while feeling disappointed by the end of the meal. I hope it gets better in the future. In the meantime, I'll be avoiding this location in favor of other Cava restaurants. read more

Pick up by car service was horrible today. Place an order using the app for a 12 noon pickup. Arrived 5 minutes early to get in line and then watched as each car ahead of me spent about 5 minutes at the window. I understood why when I arrived at window at 12:25. They made my order after they knew it was me. Yes fresh is good but there is a reason people place a pickup order and choose a time. This is my digital pickup experience via the CVA app. You can preorder and then pickup in the store or the car. I ordered the greens and grains bowl. What a delightful experience from beginning to end. The app is colorful and easy to use. There are so many options to choose from here. You can split your protein options( there are many to choose from) and load up on toppings of your choice. I love everything about CAVA, especially the food; also the employees I interacted with were friendly and upbeat. I would certainly come for a meal here again. The only downside was they were out of the dressing I wanted to try. True bummer because I had to make another choice while in the pickup line but had no menu before me. I survived. I really enjoyed my first experience with Cava for the most part. The food was delicious! I would not call it authentic, however, I don't think that is the goal. The problems I had were with the service and cleanliness and price. I do not enjoy being made to feel like I am an inconvenience. The staff was not very helpful with the process even though there was nobody behind us. Then there was the cleanliness. The table that we sat at was not cleaned, and I did not see anyone cleaning the other tables the entire meal. Lastly, even though the food is delicious, I struggle with feeling like it was worth what I had to spend. I took my two children here after soccer practice recently. They are 10 and 11. I went in line first and they followed. We'd never been here before and weren't used to the rushed nature of getting through that line. It's like the workers get pissed at you if you take a few extra seconds looking at options. Anyways, I got to the register to pay for my three bowls and when she rang me up I saw that both of my kids had gotten double meat. I started to get mad at my boys and they said "well, they asked me if I wanted anything else." So without knowing that extra meat has a ridiculous fee, my kids asked for an additional meat. No, they didn't say there was an upcharge as they were going through the line. So my review is based on the astronomical prices for a bowl with extra meat that we were not informed about beforehand and were rushed through the process in getting. It was a bad experience. I start my reviews with a comment on my Process. I start at 3 and build up with +/- Stars until I get my rating. My wife has raved about CaVa for months as their is a location up in Northern VA where she works. Hearing it was coming to Fredericksburg we were waiting for it to open. + 1/2 star for the building. It is a good location to get to, off of RT, it is attractive on the outside and has a nice patio. + 1/2 for the interior. It is nice and clean. Well organized. The condiment station and fountain station were clean and well stocked. The menu board was easy to read. +1/2 for the food. It tasted fresh and was spicy or lack of spicy to taste (I like spice so I had a The Harissa). It has the ability to be both healthy for you and tasty. + 1/2 Star for the customer service. The staff was very friendly and they seemed to focus on both the customers and getting their duties done. It wasn't too busy and you didn't see them sitting around as they made rounds to keep the place clean. I also love the app. My second venture to the location was a quick pick up as we wanted something fast and not have to sit down somewhere. I placed the order to pick up for 9:15. Drive up just a few minutes before had and they handed it to me in just a minute or so. So, I found nothing to detract from the review and give them 5 Stars. I really enjoyed the food and the location. Love the app. If you are used to Chipotle, it has a similar process, but just Mediterranean cuisine. My order had 6 things that were missing. My bowl was essentially just chicken, rice and spinach they didn't include anything else! I ordered online and nothing online indicated that there were any shortages of anything. I sat in the pick up lane for 15 minutes while my order got cold. The woman at the window was so annoyed with me asking where my pita chips were that she almost told me they didn't have them. I asked if I was going to be charged for them and she said yes, I said I would wait until she got them ready especially if I was going to be charged for them, she found them so quickly after that. Well I am so disappointed that this was my first long overdue visit to Cava. I have been wanting to try it since 2017, but my plans always fell through. Everything went beyond my expectations and I'm so glad I tried something new. EVERYTHING was so fresh, pallet cleansing, and served in a timely manner. Warning: the harissa is a bit on the spicy side so I wouldn't recommend adding it directly to your meal if you don't like spice. This is my new go to and is WAY better than Chipotle. I was worried the lamb meatballs would not be fully cooked, but much to my surprise they were well done! When I saw the express version was opening in Fredericksburg I was excited--there aren't too many high level salad options around here. Stopped in for lunch today and was not disappointed. The set up reminds me of a Sweetgreen, which is another of my favorite salad places. You can build your own bowl with many of the options for bases and toppings. I got a salad with roasted veggies and the spicy lamb meatballs and lime tahini dressing. It was quite tasty. The place was packed but the line moved quickly. I would say nothing knocked my socks off in terms of ingenuity, but for what it is, this places delivers.
