Read many positive reviews about Marib since they opened and finally went in to give them a try recently, going on a weeknight for dinner. They weren't busy at all while we were there, which is sad considering how incredible the food is. It's a Yemini place and their menu is loaded with many of the tasty Mediterranean items and kabobs that are quite popular, as well as some items I'd never heard of before, but they sounded pretty good. We started with their hummus - it was smooth, creamy, and very tasty and the bread was really good too. The olive oil in it was very nice as well. I also got a cup of their Shai' (black tea with mint) to enjoy with it - really good! Like the addition of mint, in what's a typical Middle Eastern style chai, but without cardamom. We also enjoyed an amazing bowl of lentil soup - their lentil soup is incredible!! Our entrées were really good and included so much food! Their Yemini Kabob (ground lamb with spices) was excellent! And their chicken kabob was flavorful, spiced nicely, and cooked perfectly to not be dry. The kabobs each came with a large amount of rice, which was really tasty and also a side salad with a tasty dressing on it. Definitely enjoyed this visit - not sure why people in the area complain about there not being nice restaurants when we have places like this that hardly get business, yet all the typical chain joints are busy - Come here... give them a try!

Fahsa & Saltah combination. Absolutely delicious.

Unbelievable food here. We wanted to wait out some traffic in Fredericksburg and ended up stopping by chance. What a find! I'm in the car writing this down so I don't forget. We had the Lamb Shank Mandi which was great. The meat just slid right off the bone. It comes with amazing rice, some onions, and some salsa. My ever so smallest request would be for the salsa to be room temperature or warmer. My wife had the Fahsa & Saltah combination. Absolutely amazing stew combining a veggie dish with the lamb version. This was a perfect communication. It comes with some bread/pita (I'm sorry to not know how to describe this well) and two types of salsa, one red/mild and one green/spicy. I will eat this every time I'm coming up and down 95. Next time I'm planning to get the Lamb Haneeth which was also recommended by our waitress. The waitress was very helpful and kind. The restaurant is beautiful. Some high tops running up the left and regular seating in the middle and the right. There is a nice fireplace right before the bar area too. There is also a cool sitting area to the left before the bar. TVs lined the walls but weren't on. They had outdoor seating with a guy running a barbeque. They had bbq but it wasn't on the menu. Next time! Can't wait to come back.

After shopping I was craving for something unique and I found this new place (formerly Aladdin). It's located off Rt. 17 in the strip mall of Target, Petsmart and on a corner lot. As you walked in, the interior decor of dining area is modern, cozy, spacious and comfortable. They have tall tables on the left with a padded bench that stretch from window to wall. They have other tables on the floor as well. I ordered 4 items: 1) Lentil Soup 2) Baba Ghannouge 3) Lamb Chops 4) Fahsa and Saltah. First the lentil soup arrive to the table in a cup, saucer with a lemon wedge. The soup was well seasoned, smooth and silky. By squeezing the lemon juice into the soup, it enhances the flavors even more. It was very delicious. The second item that arrive to the table was the baba ghannouge which is a roasted eggplant, tahini, garlic, olive oil and garnish with bits of eggplants. It was served with fresh tandoori bread that was very airy, light and soft. Pulling apart the tandoori bread and then scooping some of the baba ghannouge, it was the most unique flavors on my palate. I enjoy it very much. The next item that arrive to the table came in two parts. First it was a bowl of chopped salad with simple ingredients such as iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes and diced cucumbers; along with 3 separate sauces. The second, is your choice of protein which I chose chicken. The chicken was shredded with vegetables served in clay pot along with fresh tandoori bread. There wasn't a right or wrong way to eat this dish but just be very careful when taking your first bite. When the clay pot arrives to the table it's still bubbling and piping hot. The flavors were very complex and with each bite, it enhances your palate in deep richness full of umami. The next platter was the lamb chops that were perfectly grilled with a good charred on them. It's plated with a very aromatic and fluffy rice in the center; 4 lamb chops, and a few grilled vegetables in between. Maannnnn .. when I took that first bite of the chops. It was SO tender, well seasoned and you can just taste that charred. It was beautifully prepared, delicate in flavors and very delicious. I wish I had more time to spare so I can order some of their desserts. Overall it was a great experience. I had immaculate service from my server Farsi. He was very attentive, friendly, genuine and knowledgeable. They also have outside seating available and take out too. I will definitely make another visit to try other items on their menu including their desserts.

This new dining experience is an absolute winner for the Fredericksburg area. The atmosphere is cozy but elegant with attention to detail. Our server was attentive and informative as we experienced the menu for the first time. The food was different but absolutely amazing REQUIRING and retire for our further exploration!

A plate of food from the iftar buffet

I've been to the Middle East several times and this place transported me back to some of my favorite travel memories! I'm not Muslim, but they have a special buffet during Ramadan for iftar and the owner (who is very friendly and professional) invited us to try that out, so we did. The food was all incredible, but particularly the roast lamb! The place was packed with people from that party of the world, so it's definitely authentic. This is one of my new favorite places in Fredericksburg.

Shafout. Cold cucumber soup with soft bread.

Delicious! Don't miss this. We loved the Shafout, a cold cucumber soup and bread. The Fahsa was also so warm and yummy. We had ours with lamb.

Lamb Haneeth & Lamb Mandi. Got takeout on V- Day. Warmed it up and had a nice romantic dinner. The lamb was fall off the bone tender.

The food and service was great. I definitely will be going back. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five was that they had gotten my order wrong, and the dish they gave me cost more than the one I ordered. To be fair, they offered to redo my order however, I didn't want to wait because I was in a rush. (I had put in a phone order). I also believe that the cost for the quality and amount of food receive was appropriate. The restaurant was clean and inviting.

A must visit to enjoy delicious Yemeni cuisine. The atmosphere and music excites your inner soul allowing you taste fantastic food . White linen tablecloths with beautiful decor on each table adds a subtle touch of elegance. The staff is so friendly and helpful with any questions or recommendations !

Lamb Haneeth on R. Lots of sauces!
    Ginger S.

Best lamb we've ever tasted (Lamb Haneeth). Both lamb and chicken kafta, amazing. Baba ganoush and lentil soup, delicious. Service was slow (our odd late afternoon timing may have contributed) but it was worth it. Even the bread was unusually good: none of that anemic store bought pita: this was more like naan. We were grateful for the opportunity to really enjoy some authentic Yemeni cuisine.

First, the food is so delicious. We ordered two apps, the falafel (ok) and veg sambousa - esp loved those! We then had fattoush salad (which needed a bit more sumac and riper tomatoes) lamb haneeth and chicken kabobs that were both AMAZING- the flavors!! Succulent meat perfectly spiced - truly delicious. Our server was young and needs a little training but is a nice kid. The food is not fast (we were the only folks there for lunch on this holiday) because they are cooking it so well. While we waited they comped us their lime and mint juice which is luscious, like a virgin mojito. I think I like it even better boozeless! The food is halal and they don't serve alcohol which was fine with us. It's a pretty, clean, bright place tucked in the back of mall and they do have outside seating. We will be back to try a few more of their dishes! Technically 4.5 stars

Black tea w/condensed milk. Dessert was some kind of mashed bread with dates and sweet cream. DELICIOUS!

Marib is a Yemeni restaurant located in a strip of restaurants and grocery stores originating from different parts of the world. Marib knows how to do their lambs. Ordered the hummus with lamb and it came with a crisp yet fluffy bread. Then ordered a Lamb Haneeth and let me tell you NOT ONLY the lamb is tender but the rice is so flavorful! I come here quite regularly and will keep on doing that. Umar approved. 4.5/5

This was my first experience at a Yemeni restaurant, and it turned out to be an incredibly pleasant and flavorful introduction. We were served half a lamb, head included, laid beautifully on a large platter of rice. But first, the restaurant itself. It was refreshing to see a place that uses real cutlery, proper plates, and actual tablecloths. I much prefer tables and chairs over booths, which often give off a fast-food chain vibe. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though there was some drilling and repair work going on--likely related to safety or exit signage--so that's understandable. Now to the food. The rice was fluffy and deeply infused with flavor from the lamb, clearly absorbing the richness of the long, slow cooking process. The broth had rippled into the rice, creating an incredible depth of taste. If you've had biryani, this was somewhat similar, but with its own distinct character. The lamb itself was exceptionally tender--falling off the bone and melting in the mouth. For anyone who usually avoids lamb due to its strong aroma, this dish is a must-try; there was no overpowering "lamb smell" at all. The meal was accompanied by a fresh salad and two side sauces--one tomato-based and another green sauce that was extremely spicy, so proceed with caution. The mint lemonade deserves a special mention: easily the best I've had. Not overly sweet, clearly made from fresh ingredients, and perfectly balanced. We ended the meal with tea and a warm dessert that was buttery, comforting, and topped with cream--an excellent finale. This was a completely new culinary experience for me, and I left the restaurant feeling like my palate had leveled up. Highly recommended--definitely a place worth checking out
