This used to be my favorite kabob spot I used to live in the neighborhood behind it now that I live on the other side of town I don't eat there as much, but I just ordered a Chicken meal with an extra chicken kabob for $5 and got this poor excuse for a meal I thought my salad was in the extra container but no I get home to warm wilted salad and 3 little pieces of chicken extra for $5 so disappointed I would have given one star but the food is still good! I came in with hunger and a foul mood, but that all changed instantly with a pleasant smile & some help ordering by the nice gentleman, Habib, at the front. He said it'd be ready in 10, but I think it was out sooner. And boy was I happy when my Quabili Palau with an extra side of chickpeas arrived at the table! This wonderful establishment has simple accommodations, mind you: to-go box with plastic flatware...but the music is pleasant, aaaand the TASTES inside that box! Every item, from the slightly sweet topping of glazed carrots & raisins, to the marinated, braised lamb kebab, the richly flavorful spinach & spices, the yummy chickpeas simmered in their sauce, and the deliciously sour dipping sauce--you just know it's all scratch-cooking. This place has great reviews but I was tempering my expectations thinking it might be overrated like a lot of stuff in FXBG. Boy, was I wrong. The food is absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced where it beckons you back for one more bite each time you're too full and don't think you can possibly eat any more. I ordered the quabili pulao (afghan national dish?) with lamb and a schwarma (which was served on the best fresh naan with delicious white sauce). I also got a side of hummus which was one of the tastier ones I've had in a long time, well-seasoned with the right viscosity. 9 out of 10. Kabob Restaurant Can't Be Beat! Found another hidden gem in the Fredericksburg area. This little family-run storefront restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you want some very tasty Afghan food. Two of us dined here for lunch on a recent Wednesday. While there was no one seated at any of the booths, there was a steady stream of walk-in and pick-up traffic. We ordered from the counter and decided to eat-in. They have a variety of lunch specials as well as starters and entrees. I chose the Lunch #1, a kabob of chicken, with basmati rice, one side (I chose eggplant), and nan. My daughter chose the lamb kabob wrap, which included a side (she chose the chickpeas). Both meals were very flavorful and delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy. The lamb wrap was huge! The basmati rice was excellent. The nan bread was warm and delicious. We passed by it all the time every now and then. Tonight was the night. Decided it was time for this place to shine. Wife and I enjoyed the food very very much. I ordered the deluxe #5 lamb beef and chicken and sides rice and chickpeas. Wife ordered the #1 boneless chicken with rice chickpeas and we both got side salads too. And meals came with naan bread. Stopped here during the week to pickup and pay for my online order. I ordered the LUNCH SPECIAL for $12.99 as quoted on their website. I get to the restaurant and paid. I also requested extra green sauce which the cashier confirmed. I didn't get a receipt, but when I checked my bank statement they charged me $17.99 and only gave me one green chutney sauce (which is free with the meal) not even extra like I asked and I didn't even get a side of white sauce either which normally comes for free with all kabob meals at other restaurants. So not only did they charge me more than what I ordered online (the meal I got was the lunch special though, but they charged for a full price meal LOL) but I didn't even get what I asked for. Food was nothing special, just good. The one green sauce I did get was watery and half empty. There's way better kabob places out there for cheaper and they won't cheap out on the sauces. read more

Last Thursday afternoon, 4/24/25, my wife and I had to wait 15 minutes while our food was being cooked. Excellent, I thought at the time, this way, we knew our meal would be freshly prepared and not sitting under a heat lamp. Having to endure a little wait was better than the assembly line approach used by two other nearby middle eastern restaurants. When we first pulled up in front of the restaurant, we were a little worried that there weren't any cars in the parking lot. No customers at lunchtime seemed to be a very bad sign. When we walked up to the front counter, my wife asked the apparent owner if the food was fresh, especially since there weren't any customers. The man wasn't the least bit offended and emphatically assured us that the food was fresh. Well, since we had only discovered this restaurant while driving along Plank Road the previous week and since it has the fairly generic name "Kabobs" and that afternoon we'd already checked out and passed on a nearby chain restaurant, we decided to order one lamb entree that my wife and I would share. As my wife went to the restroom, I quickly looked the restaurant up on Yelp and discovered that its ratings are stellar. I then immediately changed our order to two lamb entrees. While we were waiting, a steady stream of customers came through the restaurant. When our food finally arrived, it was fantastic!!! We each got a giant slab of freshly baked pita bread, about 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. We love fresh baked bread, especially when it's hot out of the oven and chewy. There's a chain in Northern Virginia that I won't name that will provide three little flat cold triangles of plain white pita bread with your meal. The lamb was plentiful, five big chunks of grilled, marinated moist meat. We dipped the lamp into the tzatziki sauce, a white sauce that, to me, had a mild mayonnaise-like flavor. It was delicious. We also had a small fresh green salad that had a vinegar dressing and seasoned basmati rice and garbanzo beans. The garbanzo beans had a light brown sauce that made it seem like a chili to me. My wife told me that it was spicy but I didn't notice. We loved the meal and plan to go back soon. read more

The naan is also big but the taste is so great that I would try to eat two if I wasn't so full from the main dish. The employees are courteous and polite. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday and they weren't too busy, I was able to get my food to-go in about 10 minutes. The staff here was very nice and friendly. The place was very clean and well-organized. Prices were decent, but a little too high. As for the food... I really wanted to love it, since everything else we decent, but it was bland and typical "Afghan" spices, which are more suited for American style curries and kabobs than the original. This is far from a Pakistani type place, not even Indian. Their was no scent, nor flavor of cumin nor graham masala in anything I got. The naan was the typical, odd "football" shaped Afghan style too. They had "Sambosas" instead of "Samosas" and there was NO spice nor flavor to them. Chutney was too vinegary and tangy. Seekh kabob was very bland, tasted like simple ground beef on a skewer. Overall, If you really want good, authentic Indian or Pakistani food, this is NOT that place.... Go a few miles east to Taj, they do a great Punjabi style Indian which is a nice cross between Indian and Pakistani and a million times better than boring Afgahn style. Again, service and staff were friendly and it's tough to give a poor review when the folks are so nice, but they're priced way too high for the hamburger meat and boring food I got today. read more

Me and my husband love this cuisine. He was admitted in one if the rehab facility and we crave for kabob and I drove extra mile to get into this place and stuck in traffic along the way but let me tell you they have the best kabob so far. I've been to 3 other places that serves kabob but this is up to the pedestal for me. One of the problem we have sometimes is we get the leftover kabob somewhat at the other places. This store had given me the fresh and juicy kabob. I love their lamb and will always be. Small unassuming place tucked away behind dry cleaners in a strip mall. Not a place you can run into and grab something quick. This food is fresh and is cooked fresh. I got a chicken kabob sandwich with a side of chickpeas. Delicious! My order I was told, would take 15 mins but it wasn't quite that long. Worth waiting for! I didn't know you could request kabobs in varying levels of heat if you like your food a little spicy! The spinach was the best I've ever had. Tender and the flavor simply awesome. The chickpeas are just as good. I make my own hummus and thought I'd perfected it until I tried theirs with the warm pita bread. Hands down the best hummus I've had. They have complimentary warm cardamon spiced green tea while you wait for your food. Chicken kabob platter is $13 which is reasonable for the portions! Enough for two meals (for me). Wanted something different, so wife and I picked up at Kabob Restaurant on Plank Road...fairly new place. First impression - walked in and immediately greeted and noticed how amazingly clean the place was! Owners/staff were very friendly. We ordered chicken kabobs, chic peas, egg plant, naan, and baklava. The servings were incredibly generous - we will have for dinner tomorrow off this one order. Everything was extremely tasty. The chicken was moist and well-seasoned. The dipping sauce is the best I've had. Sides were great but a huge shout out for the chickpeas...prepared to perfection!
