As you walked in, there's plenty of seating, they have an open kitchen concept, a side room for special events or meetings (25 people capacity) but it's their mission that caught my interest as cashier/ hostess Lexi explains to me. This company spreads and provides charity catering throughout the community with multiple outlets. Lexi was very patient as she explains how the menu works. I ordered 3 items: 1) Loaded baked potato 2) Fried fish 3) Chicken and waffles. I just wanted to taste the baked potato without any protein on top. I don't know what it was that had an off taste, maybe the butter. The potato itself was soft topped with cheese, green onions and a little bland. The chicken and waffle were tasty. The fried chicken wasn't as crispy as I would like it but it was well seasoned and the waffle was soft. There are so many options for your sides. So for the fried fish, the appearance looks delicious but it was very thin and dry. Even with the tartar sauce it was still dry. I was really looking forward to it. The sides I selected were fries and hope cakes (which are sweet corn bread). Their beverages are on point, I got their lemonade and sweet tea. Lexi was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant is only opened on Fridays-Sundays for regular business but since they do multiple catering events, they are open 7 days a week. They also offer Sunday brunch between the hours of 9a-3p which the entire dining room is open with mocktail and coffee station. There isn't a buffet during the brunch but a la carte off the menu. I would make a return visit to try their brunch menu in the near future.

I can think of at least four things that will might scare you away when you drive by, which lead me to say "Don't judge a book by its cover" on this fabulous diner. 1. It is in a run-down commercial area. US Route 17 in the immediate area of the south side of Interstate 95 has definitely seen better days. It really is bad. But you can't blame the restaurant owner for the demise of the surrounding area. 2. The specific location of the restaurant is a bit off putting. There's a couple of junked trucks in the back of the parking lot, which is more representative of the general area than it is of the restaurant. The parking lot could definitely use an upgrade. 3. The way the parking lot is laid out can make you think that they don't have any customers, which may scare you away. The reality is that customer parking is on the sides of the building, not in the front. There are no actually parking spaces in the front, as it's all a fire lane. So, what looks like an empty parking out in the front is actually an oversized fire lane. It's very deceiving. 4. The old school interior was developed organically. It is a totally mish-mash of furniture that was probably purchased at estate sales and bankruptcy sales. In a world of chain restaurants where everything is pre-fabricated and standardized, the interior at Paradise Diner seems almost Willy Wonka-ish. However, everything is clean...it just "doesn't match" like most modern-day restaurants. Breakfast is served all day. Note they are open seven days a week, but they are only open until 4:00pm on Sundays. We will definitely be going back.

As I walked in, I was mesmerized by the decorations of Little Italy. There's a light blue and white vintage micro pick up truck parked in the front, to the left are display of variety of gelato, pastries, cakes; in the center is ordering station and to the right are self serve beverages and dining area throughout the building. Their menu has so many features from panini, sandwiches, pizzas, wraps, salads, soups and appetizers. Once you place your order, it's self seating and you will be given a number and the food will be walked to you or you can pick it up. I ordered 3 items: 1) Arancini 2) Eggplant and Tomato Panini 3) Bruschetta Pizza. The panini has eggplant, roasted tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil pesto sauce. I thought I ordered a panini but the fresh mozzarella wasn't even melted. The skin of the eggplant was very chewy, a little tough. and the whole sandwich had great flavor. The panini also came with one side which you have variety of selections but I chose their mac n cheese. I'm surprised that they use cavatappi instead of the proper pasta. The pasta didnt really coat or absorb the flavors but ran away. My eyebrows lifted when the meat, peas and potatoes arancini arrive to the table because I wasn't expecting for them to be bigger than normal. I wouldn't say they are appetizer size but more like entree style because it can feed up to two people with generous portions that lies on top of marinara sauce. It was delicious but very heavy. They offer 15 varieties of pizzas and I order their bruschetta pizza which was topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, olive oil, Parmesan cheese and drizzle with balsamic glaze. The pizza was amazing but the under carriage was too soft and not crispy for me. Before i left, I had to get some gelato: coconut and their peanut butter chocolate which both of them were simply amazing. I also purchased their limoncello cake and peach raspberry strudel. I was excited about the limoncello cake, one of my favorites but unfortunately it fell flat for me. I didn't taste any lemon flavors and the cake itself was very dense. On the other hand, the strudel was delicious. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, light music and offer outside seating.
