Ymmas has been open a few months now, so it was finally time to give it a try. I knew they had limited seating, so I did a little research to see how limited it was. The space is rather small: long pizza counter with two two-person tables inside and restrooms off to the side. There's also a small table outside, which we took advantage of. The pizza shop's website says pizzas take up to 36 minutes. PRO TIP: place an online order ahead of time so your pizza is ready when you arrive. We waited tops 5 minutes for our pizza and I'm so glad we did it this way. We opted for the 14'' pizza and added pepperoni, sausage, and onions. I'm not big on sausage but I really liked it because it was loose and not big, chunky pieces. I wish they would've added more pepperoni, and I would've liked the onions julienned (more typical for pizzas) instead of diced. The tomato sauce was really good and the crust was not overdone. My only (and main complaint) is that the pizza was really salty. I think it was the cheese... don't know why but it definitely wasn't the sauce. Ymmas pizza can also be ordered through Sammy T's (their sister restaurant next door) certainly days a week, so check out their website as that's a nice option. Overall, very glad I tried Ymmas. Next time I might just go for a 10'' personal pizza. read more

Deep dish pizza was horrible with bad quality cheese and ingredients. Total waste of money

I haven't gotten my food yet I will add more later after I get my food. It's a small place we'll see how they do looks like a good place for takeout. I do like that they have the menu on the wall. There are only two tables for two people each inside. These prices are high for Fredericksburg but we're still trying it. The pizza was very good. The crust was buttery almost like Royal Caribbean pizza crust off the Promenade and a little crispier than an Uno's pizza crust. The sauce seems like they actually use some seasoning not just something out of a can dumped on the table. So they have a step up on Fredericksburg there because most of the places just use some kind of plain sauce that has no seasoning. The cheese is a nice blend. Seems like maybe a blend of four or five cheeses and it is very thick on the pizza which is nice since most places seem to scatter the cheese so thin. Yep you pay a little more here but you feel a little more full on a little less size of pizza. So don't be scared to order the smaller Pizza. read more

Chicago deep dish pizza is a difficult pizza to copy. The crust, sauce and combo of how the ingredients cook together while baking can cause individual challenges. To be honest I did not have high expectations for Ymmas because of being disappointed from Chicago deep dish knock offs before. Ymmas know exactly what they are doing! I ordered a 7" pepperoni, sausage and mushroom pizza and it was perfect. The crust along the edges was buttery and crunch. The crust at the bottom supported the weight of the pizza without being overcooked. The sauce is amazing and the combo with the other ingredients was awesome. Look forward to enjoying Ymmas many more times. read more

Something's changed. Being from Chicago, was thrilled to have deep dish pizza available locally. While pricey, have enjoyed the pizza. But wow!!! Last pizza was soooo bad it ended up in the trash. Crust was doughy, needed a magnifying glass for the toppings, sauce had "off" taste that they tried to fix by dumping seasoning on top. Box pizza of my childhood was better. read more

Having worked in the restaurant business for several years, I understand that every restaurant has it's rough nights, so I try to cut every place a lot of slack. In this case, it was the price that prompted me to write this review. You know that 'pull' that you get from a really good slice of pizza when you take the first piece? Yeah - not so much here. Insultingly tiny smattering of cheese on what is supposed to be a Chicago 'deep dish' Style pizza. The only thing even remotely deep dish here was the inedible, dry, crunchy, very unpleasant overbaked crust which is supposed to be 'flaky'. Over $30 later for an 11" pie, we were extraordinarily disappointed almost to the point of anger. We both left comparing the 'pizza' to chef boyardee's boxed make-at-home. If this thing had been $15, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Never again! read more

Pizza is horrible!!! It's almost like they didn't do any R&D and just wanted to call it deep dish or compare it to Chicago pizza. The crust was garbage, the sauce tasted like the sauce off of Tony's frozen pizza. And i literally watched the guy put that cheap crappy Kraft Parmesan cheese out of the green bottle on top of it before giving to me. I took one bite of it and threw the rest in the trash. Very disappointing. Y'all need to get your tastebuds checked. read more

If you like a pound of cheese on bland, over done crust, with sparse toppings, that is overpriced- then this place is for you!

Over priced for what you get. I ordered online $30 for meat meat 14" pizza with mushroom and onion. That is restaurant week half off special so this pizza is normally $60! It said almost an hour to pick up. No disability entrance. I had to park a block away. Very inconvenient! You have to go up the stairs to go inside. 2 tiny tables for 2 people to eat inside only. One table had the manager or maybe owner and a worker sitting there on a laptop. No one at the counter greeted me. Everyone just looked up at me when I walked in. The manager/owner(assuming) said did you place an order? I said yes, he asked for name and it was handed from someone behind counter to manager/owner sitting at table to me. No welcome to Ymmas, no enjoy your pizza, no thank you....not very welcoming. Not busy either. I was the only person. The pizza was 2" on the outside crust which stuck up 1" over the middle of the pizza. The pizza itself was 1" in the middle, the crust at the bottom was primarily 1/4" and 1/2" in some areas. It had a very thin layer of mozzarella. The crust was crunchy but also chewy. Too much spaghetti sauce type pizza sauce-chunky, a little too much salt. The toppings and cheese were definitely skimped on. This is worth about a $15-20 pizza and you are crazy if you spend $60 on it. Sorry, just did not impress me and was not a deep dish style as advertised-you can't call it a deep dish since the crust was the only part that was 2". If you are going to charge that much you need to make it a true deep dish, don't skimp on cheese and toppings, greet people, speak with the city to get a handicap spot right out front or at least have a posted number or something so someone can run the pizzas out to the vehicles since parking literally sucks downtown. read more

Dang good deep dish pie!! Order half what you think. Order ahead of time and pick up.

The pizza was almost good. Toppings were fine, sauce ok, and general flavor decent. However it was ruined by an extreme amount of salt. I don't know if someone grabbed the salt instead of the parmesan or what, but both pizzas were borderline inedible. Why three stars? I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that something was made wrong today. read more

Outstanding. The prices gave me pause when I first looked at the menu, but if anything the pizza here is a good deal. Excellent crust that's easy to cut, generous sauce and quality toppings. This is deep dish so a 7" pizza is plenty for two people. This is now the best pizza in Fredericksburg, and probably the best deep dish in a much wider radius. read more
