My family and I tried Doc Rocco's yesterday. We ordered a cheese pizza and two subs. The service was super fast because you order at the counter and then either eat there or leave. The ambiance seemed nice. We were the only people actually sitting there; more people were ordering to go. The cheese pizza was good. The cheese steak was really good. I would say they put a lot of sauce on there, so I would ask for sauce on the side to avoid making it soggy. And the dock sub, I didn't feel, had enough sauce. We just ordered for dinner tonight, the food has completely changed. My boyfriend got his regular order, classic cheesesteak with add ons, and it tasted completely different. Our other favorite thing they have is the ranch and it seems like they switched to hidden valley. It used to be wingstop level ranch or at least homemade "pizza shop" ranch. Not much point in talking ambience since it was a delivery to our Holiday Inn room, but the delivery was fast and the pizza and salad was very good. First time here and we couldn't have been happier! Grayson greeted us as we walked in the door and quickly took our order. That young man is just a ray of sunshine - super friendly and upbeat! My caprese sandwich was outstanding. I expected a dense bread but the roll it was served on was nice and light, allowing the cheese and the balsamic glaze to release their full flavor. I asked Grayson if there was any basil in the kitchen and walked over to a pair of basil plants, picked off some leaves, and handed them to me. Talk about fresh! Counter ordering, paper plates, plastic silverware, one single stall, gender neutral restroom. - Staff: Friendly and efficient. -Menu: Temporarily limited to Cheesesteaks, pizza, fries, and a few other items. Limited beverages (canned Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, and bottled water). My husband and I ordered a 7 in "loaded" Cheesesteak with onions, peppers, mushrooms, no mayo, and provolone instead of cheese wiz. We got it combo'd with a bottle of water and fries. We also ordered a 12 in pizza with pepperoni. We shared everything. Cheesesteak: Meat was plentiful and roll was so incredibly soft and delicious! Fries: Very plain and bland; needed salt. They were hot, but lacked flavor. Otherwise they were cooked enough and had a nice texture. But I wouldn't order again. Pizza: Crust, amount of cheese, flavor of cheese, the pepperoni...all perfect! My husband likes a nice layer of sauce, which it had. But I felt like (like the fries), it was missing some seasonings (maybe oregano or basil or fennel seasoning?) It definitely wasn't bad, but it was very tomatoey. It certainly wasn't enough to make it a bad pie, that's for sure! I will order it again, but with additional toppings. This is our first time here. I tried the steak and cheese sub with fries and my son got a veggie pizza with no cheese. The steak and cheese was very good, one of the better ones I've had in this area. The veggie pizza had a lot of toppings and had a lot of flavor. So good we went back for a pizza! We stopped here for lunch after seeing it on TikTok while visiting the area. It didn't disappoint. It's a smaller joint, but the flavor and care in the food is beyond expectation. We had a Rueben and a Gyro, both recommended by the nice guy working the counter. Delicious!!! After hearing and reading good comments about Dic Rocco's my husband and I decided to give it a try. It was good!! I had the 7" loaded cheese steak. This delicious cheesesteak included grilled onions, peppers and mushrooms and was topped with Wiz! It came piping hot. My husband also had a loaded cheese steak but opted to substitute provolone for the wiz. We were taking our sandwiches home so we did not get anything else. The carry out packaging for the 7" kept both of our sandwiches HOT. In fact they were so hot we had to let them cool off some in order to eat them. The 12" is not packed for carry out in the same style container so I am unable to comment on how hot they would be if carried out. This cheesesteak was everything I wanted it to be. The bun had a chew, the meat was tender and flavorful and the onions, peppers, mushrooms and wiz helped me imagine I was in n Philly. I admit it has been several years since I have enjoyed a cheesesteak in Philly so you may disagree but my Doc Rocco's cheesesteak was what I remembered. My husband completely agreed with me. We have now been here another time and will be back! They have a small and basic area with table and chairs. It was clean and comfortable but nothing fancy. Food: 3 Stars Decor: 3 Stars Service: 4.5 Stars *Disclaimer - I'm a New Yorker and found myself judging this place hard because they call themselves a "New York Style Deli." So, I am judging it against every deli I grew up going to. So, take it for what its worth and if you've never been to a NY Deli in NY, then you can probably bump each star up one. Decor - Doc Rocco's is small and clean. There isn't much decor to speak of. The deli counter is one cooler with a pan of pickles and containers of cake and cannolis. There are about 8 tables inside that can seat four to 6 people at them. Food - I ordered a Doc Rocco cold sub (Capicola, salami, ham, provolone, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic aioli, and sub sauce) with a side of pasta salad. My friend ordered the Doc hot sub (chicken cutlet, roasted red peppers, spinach, fresh "mootz" and garlic aioli) with a side of bacon cheese fries. I asked the staff if there was anything else I should order and she recommended the Buffalo Chicken eggrolls. Doc Rocco Sub - The meat and veggies came on what I suspect is a Martin's Hoagie Roll. I couldn't taste any garlic aioli, the sub sauce was lightly drizzled on the sub and it was a "fine" italian sub. I was disappointed in the roll. Like white bread, it only managed to be a way to get the meat and veggies to my mouth. The roll should have texture, bight, and offer a heartiness to hold on to the aioli and sub sauce. This didn't. The pasta salad was bowtie pasta, black olives, and small pieces of red pepper in a creamy (mayo) dressing. Again...it was "fine." My friend's sub was hot, so the roll was toasted which provided the texture I was missing from my cold sub. The chicken cutlet was crunchy which also provided a texture. The owner came out to see how everything was and told my friend that the Doc is his favorite sandwich but he gets it with sharp provolone and brought a slice out for her. The sharpness did provide a pop to the sandwich. Overall, the flavors were more pronounced in this sandwich and were made better with the sharp provolone. The bacon cheese fries were frozen fries, with cheez whiz and bacon. Similarly - "fine." The buffalo chicken eggrolls didn't taste like buffalo chicken, but just chicken. No real heat besides the fact that they had come straight from the fryer. Half way into the meal, the staff thought we had ordered a pickle (which is nowhere to be found on the menu) and brought one over. Sadly, the pickle was the most flavorful part of the entire meal. Service - The fact that the owner came out, brought a slice of cheese to have us try his favorite sandwich they way he likes it; the staff member who provided us a pickle for free; and just their overall friendliness made the entire experience positive. Overall, Doc Rocco's is a fine eatery. We'll be back to try the pizza and some other items. It is far from what I would call a New York Deli, but I'll go back. read more
