Two extreme disappointments about CAVA's customer service, particularly at the Encinitas location: 1) When making a delivery order (e.g, DoorDash or Post-mates), CAVA does not seal their to-go bags like other reputable restaurants do. I have no idea why CAVA doesn't seal and secure their food for delivery. It's a bad practice in the world we live in. 2) Encinitas-CAVA has canceled my order several times now when the to-go order was made around 9:15/20pm on DoorDash and similar platforms - even though the time cut off clearly states 9:30pm. That shows a reluctance and laziness in their evening shift employees to prepare your order because it's near their online cut off (9:30pm), even though they close at 10pm. Imagine coming home tired from work and ordering way before the cut off time, and they decide to cancel your order - not at 9:15 when you ordered it, not at 9:30pm when it's the cut off, but at 10pm when your dasher walks in and they say "sorry, we canceled the order...." Honestly, the service at this location is below par and I don't have the confidence in ordering from them - and I know that I'm not alone in this. read more

Wow... what has happened to this location? Seriously. It looks like a food fight happened behind the partition glass... But here is my most favorite part: the staff member making one of the bowls I ordered literally PICKED UP the tomatoes that accidentally flicked onto the smeared counter top and tossed them back into the salad... With that move, the tomatoes had picked up pieces of rice, hummus and whatever else was laying across the not wiped serving surface. CAVA!!! Where have you been all my life?! Basically Chipotle, but Mediterranean and seemingly much healthier, CAVA was the perfect place for us to stop in to pick up a late night dinner. Even though we came in late, everyone was super friendly and quick to get our orders together. I really liked the chicken and right rice bowl, and my boyfriend really like the honey harissa chicken bowl. Even worse than chipotle which I didn't think was possible. Nickel and dime-ing everything. COSTS = 2 out of 5. Pretty over priced compared to similar restaurants in the area. SERVICE = 2.5 out of 5. Nothing great, nothing bad. AMBIANCE = 2 out of 5. Ambiance itself was fine. Very chipotle-esq. Tables and eating area were pretty dirty and unkempt. We had no way of paying for the food. I had no wallet or card. We tried to pay for it by plugging in the card manually via photo on my phone. Nothing worked, didn't have Apple Pay. Woah, CAVA was awesome! I've previously had their food for takeout and catered, but gotta say, it's a totally different experience eating at the store in the best way possible. The Chipotle model for creating your own meal can be hit or miss depending on the freshness of the ingredients. CAVA nailed it with their variety of options - everything looked great. The employee who created my bowl was infinitely helpful with recommendations and explaining the menu. Plus, there were simple graphics displaying the name of each ingredient. I opted for the grains + greens bowl with their white rice and lentils then added only things that looked outstanding in an effort to minimize potential sogginess with the dish: - hummus, red pepper hummus, and the spicy harissa - half chicken and half meatballs - tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, tabbouleh - lemon tahini sauce - romaine and pita chips on top Absolutely delicious - outstanding flavors, textures, and visual presentation. It was a ton of food too. Plus, the drinks were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend their mint basil lemonade. The quality of food and service at this location (Cava in Encinitas) is outstanding. I literally bypass other Cava locations and drive an extra 10 miles to get my meal here. Love CAVA but this location has the worst service. Stood there for like 5 mins while 5 employees stood around the cashier chatting. Finally one of them helped me and just half assed everything. They don't give a F about the customer and are just doing bare minimum. Place was trashed too, clean up if you don't have a line. This location has gone downhill. The wait is really long, about 35-40 minutes even if there's only 5 people in line. The staff is either frantically working or standing around doing nothing. They are always out of everything, especially the drinks and the rice. The tables are always dirty and the trash cans are overflowing. This was not the case until the past year or so. I will say this is the best cava location. I have been to both this one and the one in La Jolla. This place always has super fresh ingredients and always gives you the right scoops. Ingredients are amazing and I love how you can customize and pick all the toppings that you want. I always get a customizable with grilled chicken and I get all the dressing on the side. It's unlimited toppings and the quality has always been great. Friendly staff and they also have some fun lemonades and drinks to choose from. read more
