I like the food here but continually have a bad experience at this location. I usually have to wait at least 30 min past my pickup window, last night it was ready on time however I got home to see the smallest portion ever. You could see the bottom of the bowl. Comparing pictures to the same type of bowl on here they are usually very full and I make two meals out of it. Very disappointing the service and now food is so low here. read more

Over the weekend after a long day watching my daughter's softball game, we came here to grab lunch together as a family. Originally my husband wanted to go to Poki Poki next door, but I got my way, because I said so and I love Mediterranean food, soooo, winner winner, chicken dinner! ;) The concept is the same as most casual dining restaurants with an assembly line, pick the base, pick your sauces and protein, and all the fixings that comes with it. My husband got the grain bowl and topped it with everything and anything with chicken. I got the pita with lamb and all the yummy sauces and fixings to go with it, and my kids got the kids pita with the lamb spicy meatballs (which were delicious), so all in all, I can say that you can't go wrong with any of the protein options they have. The sauces were all delicious, I couldn't decide so I had to do half and half. Conclusion? Delicious, quick, healthy, freshly made, and customized to your palate's desire. I will be back! The food was delicious but the line workers were disorganized and the harissa chicken is not a good value in my opinion. I originally started out a with a build my own bowl, but once I added the harissa chicken to it, the next worker just topped it with the toppings that come with the "chef curated" harissa bowl. The harissa chicken serving bowl was empty and I opted to wait for that protein instead of opting for another. The harissa chicken was made by taking half the grilled chicken and adding the harissa sauce to it (this harissa chicken is then up charged $1.50 over the grilled chicken). In the future I will just order the sauce as one of my sauces and get the grilled chicken. read more

I love CAVA so much-- but this location unfortunately will not receive my business ever again. I have had the best experiences at the Carmel Mountain and Del Mar location, but today when I came to the Encinitas location I was severely disappointed. The customer service here was truly so sad... that is the best way to put it without just being mean. The employees looked absolutely miserable to be working there, from the way they greeted you to the way they made your bowl. The bowl I received was quite pathetic-- it was smaller than any bowl I've received before, so that combined with the bad customer service? If I could give it a Zero I would. I was so excited for the San Marcos location to open. I went and my first experience was awesome, very good. So I decided to go back, only to find a long hair in my pita. I decided to give them another chance and found ANOTHER hair in my food. Additionally the staff was unprofessional and looked lost. Came here last night to grab dinner. I have seen a lot of hype on this place (Irvine location) so I had to try it out. SERVICE - It is like a chipotle but with Greek/Mediterranean food. We got in line and read the directions on the sign and went from there. The employees helping us were nice. FOOD Bowl w Chicken - I went with the brown rice, chicken, tatziki sauce, feta sauce, cucumbers, pickled onions, lettuce, and yogurt dill dressing. I think I overloaded on the sauces but I was following the steps. Regardless, I missed the bowl together and everything tasted so good! The grilled chicken was really tasty and I got two pretty solid scoops of it. The veggies were fresh. The dressings were yummy. Everything just blended perfectly together. Yum! Bowl w Meatballs - My husband got the white rice, regular meatballs, spicy meatballs, tatziki sauce, hummus, cucumbers, lettuce, picked onions, tomatoes, and yogurt dill dressing. The meatballs were tasty but I would prefer the chicken. He said the same as he liked my bowl better. The bowls also came with two soft pita breads so that was nice. Overall, I am with it. A recent addition to the Encinitas Ranch Town Center this is a Chipotle style Mediterranean fast food joint with healthy flavorful options guaranteeing each and every combo you can think of turns out delicious! I chose a SuperGreens salad bowl with falafel as my protein, topped with spicy feta, roasted red pepper hummus and harissa dips which packs quite a punch, topped with cabbage slaw, diced cucumbers, pickled onions and bell peppers, kalamata olives and crumbled feta with some spicy sriracha yogurt and lemon dill tahini dressings. I really appreciated how they asked me whether I would like my complimentary pita bread- considering what a filling portion size a bowl is in itself, asking customers about that extra bread truly helps reduce food waste. My toddlers tried the kids meal which was healthy without compromising on the flavor. Definitely will head on over to CAVA whenever I'm in the area. read more

I wanted to love it, and I do love the concept, the very friendly service and the space, but only 3 stars because I honestly don't see myself coming back.. The bases were great - I chose arugula and saffron rice (there were other greens to choose from and a few other grains). I loved the sauces - especially the spicy harissa and the creamy feta (also has a nice kick). And the unlimited toppings including cucumber salad, tomato salad, carrot/currant salad, Kalamata olives, feta cheese and crunchy pita strips were all excellent. They have several dressings to choose from - the red pepper chickpea one was really good. So where was the problem? The protein. I picked half falafel and half roasted veggies. The roasted veggies were fine, though definitely sweet potato/squash heavy. The falafel was just disappointing. Which is really too bad because I loved everything else. It was just chewy - the texture was weird. The protein is the star of the whole bowl though, so it brought what would have been a 5 star experience to 3 stars. read more

Cava is a Mediterranean fast-casual chain located in Encinitas Town Center. I've never been to this shopping center before, so it was a little hard to find since the parking structure is pretty spacious. When I finally found the place, I stood in line to place my order and decided to get a mini pita and soup as my base and a fountain drink. I added a couple of dips and spreads- the tzatziki and roasted red pepper hummus, and braised lamb as my protein. Afterwards, you pick your favorite toppings, which are unlimited! I went with the pickled onions, tomato and cucumber salad, and diced cucumbers. Just when I thought I was done, it was time to chose a dressing, so I got the green harissa. Everyone liked how mine looked because it was so colorful! It was also very flavorful as well- I loved how all the ingredients blended well with each other. The seasonal soup that day was the Greek minestrone, which had a nice kick to it. It was pretty hearty and delicious! My blueberry lavender was absolutely refreshing too! I can't believe my meal was so healthy and under 700 calories! I want to visit this eatery again, but too bad it's so far from me. I really enjoy the food here but every time I've gone in the evening they are out of some main course. The restaurant closes at 10 and by 8 or 9 they are out of something and they don't make more. This makes no sense and is quite frustrating. They need to either close at 8 or make enough food to last until closing.
