I stopped in here for takeout and I got the Greek grilled chicken salad and the Greek grilled chicken pita. We both enjoyed the meals, but later felt bloated and very full. I'm not sure if the food is clean and that's my big concern. The taste was good, but the feeling after was not good. I probably would be hesitant to go again.

I came by CAVA - Edgewater for my post-workout meal. I used to go to the Paramus location, PERO... their service is basura, so I decided to go to this location instead. It opened a little over a year ago, so the interior is still new and shiny. There's plenty of available parking since it's in a large shopping outlet. I came past 9pm on Black Friday and I was worried that they would be out of a lot of items. I was pleasantly surprised because I was the only one in store and they were fully stocked! I opted for the Build-Your-Own Bowl option (~$12). My usual order is: brown rice, chicken, eggplant dip, tzatziki, crazy feta dip, corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled onions, feta cheese, pita crisps, olives, and Greek vinaigrette. The chicken was seasoned well and all of the ingredients tasted fresh. I go CRAZY for CAVA dips lol. The employee that made my bowl was very friendly as well. I wish the Paramus location could step up their game since they're much closer to me. I'll stick to coming to Edgewater from now on.

10 for 10 - staff was amazing ! Line moved quickly but not rushing customers. Answered all questions and offered option if confused. Fresh full bowls. Manager even helping during a busy spout, not just sitting in the back. Had to ask for their names. Friendly-helpful-knowledgeable!! Shout out to Melissa and Yourois, great customer service!

On Saturday, I had to e pleasure of visiting Cava for the grand opening of its Edgewater location. This location is in the same plaza as the Target and Acme. They rang in the event with a Community Day. In addition to celebrating the opening of the restaurant, Cava also used this as a philanthropic opportunity. They were accepting and matching credit card donations up to $1000, with proceeds going to their local community partner Table to Table, New Jersey's first food rescue organization. At Saturday's event, we were able to sign up for a 15 minute pick up slot to pick up a free meal and drink. When we arrived there were employees by the door who greeted us and ushered us in. Surprisingly, there was no wait. They were very well staffed - at least 8 people were behind the counter. We got right on line and ordered our meals. We had the choice between a bowl and pita. I ordered a bowl with rice, honey chicken and cucumber tomato salad . You also get the Choice of a sauce, so I got tzatziki. I really liked the variety of options. The food seemed healthy but also flavorful. The chicken was spicier than I expected but still tasty. Overall, this was a pleasant experience and I'm grateful I was able to come in and try them out. Thank you for hosting this free event!

Cava just opened in Edgewater. We went to try it. The place was clean with plenty of seating room. The food was flavorful and ingredients fresh. Service was great - the people we met made an effort to answer questions and be of service. I would recommend trying the drinks - got a cucumber lemonade. It was very good. All the drinks were good. It was nice to be able to make my own bowl. I added rice, a protein and veggies. Was nice to have a tasty, well balanced meal without having to cook it. Cava has a 'fast food' feel to it but a nice option for a good, quick meal.

STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES - $14 Grape leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts, currants, and herbs. I sampled most of the dishes and thought all of the salads were very good, although the pear slices in the Arugula & Pear Salad could have been riper. The Eggplant Salad was really more of a dip than a salad, but it had excellent flavor. The Cheese Pastries were crispy, hot and tasty. The Zucchini Pancakes were bland and would have been better with a more generous serving of the garlic yogurt sauce. Service was good for the most part, though a little spotty at times, especially when it came time to get the check. Overall, this was a solid four-star dining experience. We'd be happy to return.

Warm, cozy, and inviting, with a relaxed vibe that made it easy to settle in and linger over the meal. Appetizers We started with a cheese flatbread, boat-shaped and blistered at the edges, the interior molten and gooey with a bright basil leaf on top. Simple but done really well, crisp crust giving way to all that warm cheese. Mains The brunch dishes were the highlight. A sizzling skillet of eggs cooked over spiced sausage came out rich and savory, the yolks just set, perfect for scooping up with the basket of warm bread on the side. The tomato-based baked eggs were equally good, a deep, well-seasoned sauce with a little heat and fresh herbs on top. Comforting, generous, and full of flavor. Drinks The blackberry mocktail was a standout, refreshing and beautifully garnished with a cluster of fresh blackberries. Always great to see a thoughtful non-alcoholic option that feels like more than an afterthought. Service Attentive and warm throughout. The team kept everything moving smoothly without ever feeling rushed. Verdict Five stars. Delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and a mocktail worth ordering on its own. Also plusses in Miriam's favor were the fact that I could easily make a reservation (they use SevenRooms) and its proximity to the Museum of Natural History. Many of the menu items looked appealing. Two of us ordered the latkes Benedict ($27) which I loved. Instead of Canadian bacon, you're served smoked salmon. And swap out the regular hollandaise for a harissa version. There was also za'atar labneh and a chopped salad with cucumbers and tomatoes on the side, also delectable. The third person ordered the traditional shakshuka ($24) which also earned acclaim. I have to give a thumbs up to the hummus. The hostess was peppy and welcoming. Our server was more scarce towards the end of the meal for some reason, but she was nice, and the busboy seemed cool. I have been twice now, once on the East Side and again last night on the West Side, and I came away both times with the same impression: that some places are content to simply be good, over and over, without announcing it. The watermelon salad is sweet and hot at the same time, feta and mint against Italian chile, and it is the right thing to have first. The schnitzel is what it ought to be. The kebab, lamb and beef together, is the thing I would order if I were only allowed one thing. The knafeh cups are better on the East Side, where the crisp kataifi is laid over the cream rather than baked into a shell around it. On the West Side you have to break into the cup before you get anywhere. On the East Side the spoon goes straight down through the crunch and into the cream, and that is the whole difference. But it is the people I keep thinking about. They are kind without performing kindness, which is harder than it sounds. Last night I watched the room work, water poured, plates cleared, dishes set down, and it was never quite the same hand doing it, and never once the wrong one. A floor moves that way only when everyone on it is paying attention to everyone else. Two visits, two neighborhoods, one restaurant. I suspect that is the point.
