I'm usually very easy to please, so it gives me no pleasure when I end up having to write about how the staff kinda sucked. I would not, however, hold back about it. Cava was such a place. The food itself was honestly pretty good. I would compare this to a NafNaf or an IDOF. Basically build your own bowl of middle eastern goodness (coincidentally branded as "Mediterranean", a style which I love on every level from how I group up to just generally who doesn't like falafel/options of spicy stuff/some veggies in a giant bowl of stuff? But again, service doesn't hesitate to do a disservice. We were on a lunch, and maybe that was why they were so busy, but they were visibly understaffed. I couldn't care except that they happened to walk away a few times and we couldn't even get help, and then seemed to not listen to anything we said after the first response. I got asked what toppings I wanted, and then changed my mind on some and they just ignored me. Sure, the food is fine and the toppings on my original selection are not the end of the world, but I observed the same from my other lunch partners too. As someone with hearing loss and living in a world with plenty of stress, I get it. Shorthanded sucks. But *try* to at least be neutral with people. I don't expect polite, I try to be the one to bring that. Then, they ran out of falafel when I literally ordered falafel and I saw the worker tell the other folks to make more - and they did nothing about it. Was I going to wait? Of course not. It does call into question the working conditions and how on top of things they are on a lot of levels, though. Sorry Cava, but I'm not going to come back and try this ever again. Food was good but it's not worth the potential for just massively screwing up an order I can just suspect you're going to do all the time. read more

This is my first time at this Cava but it was consistent with my other great experiences. I love the meatballs and the fried pita chips. The drink options are great too. We had to wait a few minutes for some items to come out fresh but it was quick and worth the wait. I will definitely be back. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Chicken and rice bowl (to go order) might have been nice had they asked what kind of rice I wanted and not drowned the entire bowl in vinaigrette so that it was inedible. What a waste of food and $20. Took a few bites, then straight to the trash. read more

We were excited to try something new and decided to give CAVA in Crystal Lake a try, but unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered two Harissa Avocado Bowls and one Salmon + Yogurt Dill bowl. The chicken in both Harissa Avocado Bowls was dry and overcooked, and the avocados were blackened and clearly past their freshness. The salmon in the Salmon + Yogurt Dill bowl was also severely overcooked and extremely hard. It's always nice to try a new restaurant, but spending about $55 for food of this quality was disappointing and, in our opinion, not worth the price. Hopefully this was just an off day, but based on our experience, I don't think we'll be returning. read more

Back for the second day in a row. Both days the workers have been amazing and super friendly especially Ash on the register. The portions are big for the price. Pleasantly different menu. Friendly and efficient staff. Our first visit to the Waters Edge development, and we were pleased.

Staff is arrogant and rude, accidentally ordered to the wrong location. Called an explained the mistake to the manager and requested a refund. At this time I was told by the manager that cava does not offer instore refunds and support would need to be contacted. went to the store and asked if it was possible to have my food re made because at this point I was 30 minutes late due to being ordered at wrong location. Staff member at drive through was rude and said she did not have the authority after making us repeat ourselves 3 times. Then proceeded to tell us it was ordered for in store pick up and we should not be going through the dive through if that was the case and next time we needed to come inside. Asked to speak to manager. Manager was arrogant, rude, and overall nasty. Explained the situation to the manager Alonso? was given attitude and basically was told this isn't his problem and goes well you are 30 minutes late... yeah because I openly admitted to ordering to the wrong location by mistake and was not going to contact support for a refund. Rolled his eyes while original employee at the window mocked me behind him while remaking the order and laughing with another coworker. Came back with the order and was told if this ever happens again they will not accommodate. I told the manager not to worry because I will never be back to this location again. Worst experience at an establishment I've had in Crystal Lake by far. I understand my mistake but the extra attitude from the staff was not needed. If this is how cava allows their staff to treat customers, it's not an establishment I will spend my money at. read more

Welcome to Crystal Lake CAVA!! We were fortunate enough to try CAVA during their friends and family weekend before their grand opening. Then of course, we went the day after they opened to the public. Greek Mediterranean food made fresh. I dare say, the concept is like Chipotle, ( just the concept! Food is excellent unlike salty, nasty Chipotle!) in that you can order a bowl or pita sandwich at the start of the line, choose your rice, lentils or greens, you can order up to 2 at this start, then pick your meat, again one or two ( half and half) choose from salmon, shredded lamb, spicy lamb meatballs, spicy chicken, chunks of steak, choose toppings, I like taziki sauce, there are too many to chose from, then some fresh toppings like delicious grape tomatoes, seasoned corn and more, then even more sauces to choose from! Wait till you see the fountain drinks available! Blueberry lemonade, cucumber mint tea, sodas from the state of Maine! I love the blueberry soda (absolutely amazing) and the first time I had blueberry soda was in Maine, so that really brought back the memory of that! Rootbeer, Mexican cola and more!!! For dessert they have mini brownies and blondies which are so delish!! Download their app and sign up for rewards! This is an excellent and welcome addition to Crystal Lake and I will become a regular!! read more

DIRTY! Nobody cleans anything, table and counter where food is served was gross. They were out of the ingredients for my bowl, but instead of asking if I wanted something else, they scraped the serving tray bottom for what Lyle was left but it hardly was enough to count. When replenishing items, the cook just dumped the new chicken/steak on top of the older meat in the serving tray, instead of swapping the container and putting older product on top. Some poor soul is going to get some sad old meat, or worse, get sick! Obviously there is no manager or he/she/they just don't care. Stay away! read more

Second time ordering for staff from this place and no one got their order correct. They can't make salmon without the sauce because that's premade and someone had gotten sick with the lettuce from there so highly recommend avoiding this place. read more
