Stopped here for a quick dinner. The staff confirmed they have GF bread. I indicated that I have a gluten allergy and asked if the kitchen can change gloves. I ordered the choose 2 - the BLTA (no bacon) and a cheese spud. Unfortunately, they were out of spuds so I switched to a house salad with no croutons. All their dressings are GF so I opted for the thousand island. My husband ordered the pecan berry salad and he said it was really good. I went to the restaurant in Algonquin and surprisingly there were a few veggie options. I decided to try the grilled cheese with tomato on toasted ciabatta. When I say we have been to this McAlister's Deli a lot, I mean, we have been to this McAlister's a lot. Until recently, we had McAlister's at least once a month since 2020. It's my daughter's favorite place. We have had our meals in the restaurant and we have done curb-side pick up. This is the one place that has never, ever gotten our order wrong. Everything is always hot and our order is complete. The food is very good and the portion sizes are excellent. My absolute favorite meal is the Rachel with horseradish Dijon added, a side of potato salad and a sweet tea. So yummy! The restaurant is always clean and the employees are always so nice! read more

I'm a little slow to the party here. Partly because I've been jaded by the expense and lack of quality I've experienced from other local "sandwich" and deli shops. But I got sick with the flu and wanted a different broccoli cheddar soup. I ended up getting the soup with the horseradish beef sandwich and I am a convert! The soup here is chunky and thick and it actually tastes like cheddar. The sandwich was an explosion of flavor and with much higher quality than the other place down the street. Overall the service was great, tablets were clean, lots of sitting space, and the food came out in a decent amount of time. I tried the Savannah Chopped Salad that came with Seasoned grilled chicken, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola, honey roasted almonds, tomato and cucumber on mixed greens and the dressing was Sherry Shallot which complemented the salad very well. The food is great here! The hardest part for me is to pick what I want to eat cause there are so many great options! My husband ordered the chicken salad and I ordered the King Club Sandwich! The sandwich is perfect for a large appetite or to even split with someone! The Max and Cheese was hot, gooey, and delicious! The pasta was el dente and not mushy at all! They have a huge variety of fresh-made sandwiches, melts, wraps, salads, soups, and Spuds. The Spuds are absolutely enormous and easily feed two people. They don't skimp on the toppings. They also have a huge selection for the kids. Even the pickiest eater will find a favorite. I typically order the Half & Half. I do half a Reuben (small uncharge) with Chicken Tortilla Soup. I like doing the half and half as a full size sandwich is just too big for one person. They offer numerous combinations: half salad and soup, half sandwich and soup, etc. The Reuben is piled high with fresh and juicy corned beef and melty cheese. The perfectly-toasted rye bread is slathered with Thousand Island & Sauerkraut. They always do a great job with the sauce, always just right! The Chicken Tortilla Soup is another favorite. It has the perfect amount of flavor with a bold kick of heat. They serve it with tortilla chips- which I like to use for dipping. Another favorite is their Tomato Cucumber salad. It's a very small side, but it's my favorite. Juicy tomatoes. Onions. Crisp Cucumber in an Italian-style "dressing". I usually order 2-3 of them. As for their shareables, I have not tried them- so I cannot comment on that. Dessert wise, save the calories. I am not a fan of their dessert offerings and typically just skip it. The portions are large and the price is very reasonable. It's great delivered or eaten at the restaurant. It's a very popular place with kids and families. Delivery is always fast, fresh, and piping hot. Everything is packaged securely and I've never had them make a mistake on the order. Terrible experience. I wanted to place a catering order on behalf of my company last week and because there was no one in catering that day, no one else could help. At first I was asked to call Melissa's cell phone directly and she told me that she would contact me as soon as she would be in the afternoon; as of 3:30 pm, I was getting anxious as I wanted something ordered for dinner that day; she did not call me and I was getting disconnected on the main phone. We just asked for water and I assume they only have one size for beverages. Usually a cup with water at places like this is the smallest. I ordered the Reuben with a side of potato salad; hubby ordered the New Yorker with a salad of coleslaw. The sides come in a little 6 oz clear cup (about the size of a serving spoonful). All sandwiches served with your choice of side dish and a pickle. Had to play hide-n-seek for my pickle. It's underneath the paper to keep the sandwich from getting soggy. Quick, prompt, friendly service from knowledgeable employees. The front door leads straight through the center of the store to the cash registers. Dining area is on either side of entryway. There is no drink station. All drinks poured behind the counter and delivered with a smile. Yes there are restrooms. No I didn't go back there. They have a pretty big menu and the food was really good. Crunchy pickles are a huge plus in my book and I really enjoyed the soup of the day, chicken dumpling. I also had the sweet Chipotle chicken sandwich and thouroughly enjoyed the flavor. I thought it might be spicier than it was, which I was a bit nervous about, but it was excellent! I'm excited to try other menu options in the future. The restaurant was well staffed, maybe a bit over-staffed because the manager and a few people were standing behind the counter (about 6:30pm on a Tuesday night during the winter). It was my first trip to McAlester's Deli. I ordered a Choose 2, Cesar salad and chicken tortilla soup. I took my order to go. When I got home I had a large baggy of tortilla chips (way too much to put in my soup) and no salad dressing for my salad. So now I have a ton of extra tortilla chips and no salad dressing. I ate some of the cheese and croutons off the salad but tossed the rest of it. The soup was good but I was hoping for a broth and not a cream.
