Very similar to Chipotle, but the ingredients seemed fresher and more flavorful. A lot of different ways to construct your bowl. Chipotle-style Mediterranean food with really fresh ingredients, and a relatively healthy choice. I love the supergreens + rice combo, the beef meatballs are amazing (I also tried the falafel, which was ok -- I'd pass the next time), and the sauces were so good! Definitely recommend the lemon sauce at the end. The sweet tea was also really yummy, and they had a bunch of different beverages to choose from as well (I think I remember seeing basil lemonade). This is my new favorite lunch spot downtown. Although the whole "bowl" concept seems way overdone and unoriginal these days, so I was skeptical at first, but I'm hooked now. The bowls are full of flavor yet healthy enough to eat regularly. I like all the options for greens and grains because it means I can always try something new. There are plenty of protein options but I just stick to the chicken or veggies and both are great. The toppings all taste very fresh and acidic which gives it that fresh and light Mediterranean flavor. The sauces and dips are tangy and savory but really flavorful which brings the bowl together but still keeps it healthy and not too heavy. The sauces are balanced just right to not be overly acidic or tangy which happens sometimes in Mediterranean food. The spicy options are also not too spicy which is nice. The only complaint I have is that the seating in the restaurant is really skewed towards groups of two. If you have a bigger group, you might want to come before or after the main lunch rush or else you might have to take it to go. read more

Tried out this establishment for an early dinner. I would have given an excellent review had the sign on the door upon entering warned of limited protein selections. This restaurant is a counter assembly line type eatery (you choose what lands in your bowl). I chose a grains and greens bowl. All the ingredients I chose tasted fresh and flavorful. The interior of the store has a "minimalist" vibe. So the objective here is to eat and go. If you just want some food in the city, this is a good price-point option. I probably would have given a lower rating due to the limited options to build your bowl, a soft drink beverage dispenser that was out of order and the general cleanliness of the tables on a slow Sunday afternoon; however, my bowl was delicious and I will be returning the next time I'm in Austin! read more

Kind of like the Chipotle style where you can get a salad, greens and grains, a pita, etc. They just opened the downtown location which is at 5th and Congress in the Bank of America Building. The interior is open and inviting with beautiful wood tabletops, modern light fixtures. It is super nice for a casual restaurant. The staff is friendly and will guide you through all of the choices. I got the green and grains...you can choose romaine, mixed greens, spinach, kale mix. For grains they have brown and white rice, quinoa, etc. For the meat I got the regular meatballs which were so flavorful! They gave me 4..I could have just had those alone! They also have chicken, spicy lamb meatballs, braised lamb, etc. Then you choose your sauce. We arrived shortly after 11:00am, and it filled up quickly. They do stay open late though. I've been to Cava few times and enjoy the concept and the food. The employees are friendly, attentive and handle the long lunch lines with ease. They go above and beyond to keep the prep area clean and to explain the menu and the various up charges. Every time I go into Cava I receive a hearty "Welcome to Cava! I've seen the employees handle difficult customers, and complicated orders orders with a smile. Meghan E was obviously angry and has really bizarre expectations regarding customer service for a $10 meal. What are absurd eyelashes and how are they relevant to the food being served? Sauce was splashed on the lid? How is that a problem? You were refused a complimentary pita? Really? ((I'm sure Cava has video to see what actually happened) You waited five minutes before you were acknowledged? Was there only one employee in the store? (Seems like a management/staffing issue not an employee issue) Gave ingredients to apply your self.? Hmmm so how is this bad? Seems reasonable. Wet food in the bowl. Crisp food separate so it I'll remain crispy until eaten. Yes, Thank you! Employee drinking lemonade. Again how is this relevant? Maybe the employee was thirsty. So the only employee in the establishment didn't have time to make your bowl because they were scheduled to get off at 4? So the employee who was all alone, stayed longer than she was scheduled, made your bowl and obviously missed her bus should be fired? No Meghan, she should be given employee of the month! Sooooo... my photo encapsulates how I felt/feel about Cava.... I couldn't even photograph it without digging into it first (apologies)!! I got a brown rice bowl with added greens, half chicken, half roasted veggies, tzatziki, red pepper hummus, tomatoes and cucumber, red onion, feta, and quinoa with cauliflower, topped with the sriracha mayo dressing!!!! MY OH MY. It was so flavorful and filling, but it wasn't too heavy. I ended up eating it over two servings because I wanted to savor the goodness! I'm staying at Aloft nearby in DT Austin for work and it's about a two min walk to Cava from the door. Suffice it to say I know where I'll be eating throughout the week for a quick lunch break (and will keep this noted for any future recommendations to colleagues). One more thing to note: for the quality and quantity, the price point was amazing (sub $11 for a huge bowl filled to the brim).There was also no wait, albeit I went around 2pm, and the cashier who assisted me was so sweet and helpful. Got CAVA the other day for lunch. LOVED it! Had a bowl with brown rice as the base, stocked up on tons of their fresh ingredient add ins. For the protein they offer a half and half option and I loved that. I got half falafel, half grilled meatballs. Both were excellent. Falafel was the best I've had in a long time. For my add ins I got pickled onion, cucumber, feta tomato and cucumber salad, corn. For my dips and spreads I got hummus tzatziki, and crazy feta. Topped with harissa yogurt. No matter which state you visit, there is always a line wrapped around the restaurant, that's how good it is. I normally order the grain bowl (brown saffron and lentils) with braised lamb. I have ordered the lamb meatballs in the past, and I think I before them, however they only give like 3. No matter what toppings you add, everything is delicious. It also comes with a complementary pita. Not only are the portion size enough for 2 meals, but the fresh juices are probably my favorite part. I always order the watermelon and mint juice. read more

We got a greens and grains bowl and a grains bowl (each was $11.72) and we both enjoyed it! Very fresh and flavorful. It was hard to choose toppings since it was our first time, so if you're in the same boat here's our notes: - The harissa spread was good (spicy) - eggplant pepper spread was bomb, not too eggplanty - def get the hummus, roasted corn and pickled onion - skip the feta spread unless you love feta (it was too much with the spreads IMO) I was full and satisfied after my meal.
