I think this place overcharges everthing. For $20, we got bacon egg cheese on crossaint, lox spread on bagel, large hot coffee and iced mocha. $3.50 for a bottled joes iced tea. Thats more expensive than a snapple. For the BEC, the eggs werent freshly made like it came from a premixed boxed egg liquid solution. The iced mocha was too sweet and didnt taste like mocha. Instead, it tasted like sugary imitation fake chocolate syrup but not the good kind. The colombian coffee was avg. I was not aware that the regular coffee size was a large. Lots of people go here for a Quick bite but i believe there afe better breakfast spots around

Hard crusted bagels that make you feel like your teeth will rip out if you when you take a bite. I actually needed a knife to cut through. Definitely be careful if you ever had dental work done.

    Reuben Sandwich

I ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was delicious. This was my first time visiting this place and I will definitely be back. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was quiet. I can't wait to return and try other options on the menu. Thank you!

$7. $7 for this bagel. They asked for my order 3 separate times after I originally gave it to them. There were 2 other people in line, that's all. My order was a scallion tofu cream cheese bagel with onions (gross I know). The first time they asked if it was garden veggie cream cheese - nope. Second time if it had tomato - nope. Third time if it had tomato - nope. Then they rang me up and said scallion tofu cream cheese with tomato - and I said it's onions and the cashier laughed at me and charged me $7. Surprise! It had tomato on it (I took it off before I took the pic). This neighborhood needs a new bagel spot - I've lived here so for so long and quite literally never had a good experience at this place.

How is this an 8 dollar bagel

EAT ELSEWHERE In my time at CBC I witnesses almost every customer have to repeat their order at least 3 times, and no staff person ever writes down an order. I'm guessing this is a strategy on the part of the grumpy owner to overcharge, because she can just make up prices. The owner who runs the register decidedly rings up orders in her head, ignoring the register in front of her, and then seemingly tacks on an additional surcharge based on her opinion of you in the moment or based on how she is feeling at any given time. Prices vary from one customer to the next and from day to day. I witnessed the owner incorrectly ring up a customer's order, and then demand her empty her bag so she could check what she had left off of the first ticket. The owner always complains that she is busy, but in reality, she is just not suited for a front-of-house role. All of this could be tolerated if the food was good, but it was decidedly not. Don't waste your time or money.

    Multigrain bagel

I tried their bagel today for the first time and I enjoyed it! It was a bit on the sweet side for me but still good. I got a plain multigrain bagel for $1.50 (2022) Which I think is a bit pricey.

What they think is acceptable to hand a customer

The neighborhood deserves better. The bagels aren't very good compared to Hot bagels or some of the other places around.

    Catskill version of a panini

My partner ordered a tomato/ Mozzarella/ red pepper panini. What he got was a stale plain role with romaine lettuce / tomato / mozzarella. 11.50$ for this.

Chairs on top of table at 4:30 pm! They are open till 5 pm! WTF!!!!!?

The price is outrageously expensive. 2 weeks ago I got a tuna salad bagel for $8.50, Today it's 10 dollars of the same bagel.

As far as the customer service goes I wish it was a bit better. The staff aren't the most pleasant. No good morning no acknowledgement of comprehending what you order they just walk away and start the order. Which is why I double check always. I do notice they speak more pleasantly to other customers that come in. Not sure if it's a culture thing or could they be discriminatory but it's a bit unsettling. Food: 3.8/5 I only order the poppy seed bagel and that's pretty tasty. Not to doughy although I do have them take out a good portion of the bread because I like it to be extremely thin. Service: 3 /5 Service needs major improvements , language barriers are also a major factor to consider as they do speak Spanish and their primary language. We wanted to try something different after having explored so many of the typical places in Manhattan and Shelsky's came highly recommended While I was expecting a long wait on a Saturday mid-morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find the establishment with only a few in line before us. Now, I was desperately seeking a very simple belly lox with schmear, but much to my dismay, they didn't have any more belly lox. I was heartbroken and had to figure out a plan B While I pondered, the family quickly ordered a Peter Shelsky, a Great Gatsby, and a Fancy Pants. I crumbled in my panic and jumped in with another Peter Shelsky. We also tried a small amount of whitefish salad and a beet/thyme salad The service was quick and we were able to grab two of the three small tables at the front to enjoy our fare. Soon we were digging in and from the immediate silence, I could tell everyone was enjoying their choices. The bagels were on the smaller side, denser with a firm crust. We did enjoy the bagels, but I could see how someone not familiar with this style may find them too "cardboard-y" I have to say, the pickled herring on the Peter Shelsky was fantastic, but was way too overpowering for the nova and sable. I actually regretted my choice and would order something more sunken next time. (Or get to the store earlier to beat the rush for the darn belly lox!) The beet salad was quite a nice balance to for the bagels adding a bit of brightness. The whitefish salad was solid - a hint of smoke and a creamy puree. Some who prefer a chunkier whitefish salad might find this less than satisfactory, but the flavors were great A cure store, friendly and patient staff, a great first exposure to Brooklyn for the boys. We'll be back (and we want belly lox!!)

It's a pretty spacious bagel spot with ample seating menu's with pricing for all items they sell which is helpful. Food: 3/5 I ordered a jalapeño bagel with turkey bacon, and scrambled eggs. The bagel was okay nothing to rave about your standard bagel. Nothing to make me fave about it. The texture was chewy and a bit doughy if you like your bagels that texture this may be the spot for you. Overall my bagel was about 10-12$ I believe. They charge extra for a rainbow bagel and other specialty bagels like jalapeño. Which is pretty expensive so make sure you're aware of that. Service: 3/5 The customer service was mediocre. The guy at the front wasn't the most pleasant. Very much get you in an out top of place. They weren't rude but not the most cheerful I'd say. Ambiance: 3/5 standers bagel shop nothing really impressive or spectacular. I will say when in the area due to the lack of places to eat that make REAL food.
