I work about a block away from this place so come here often. After eating their bagels many times- they have definitely changed their recipe or supplier (not sure if they make bagels in-house). The bagels USED to taste kind of plastic-y and old but are much fresher now. They give you a generous amount of bacon and they are filling sandwiches. Their iced coffee is always perfect every time I order it. They do have a lot of offerings that most typical bagel/deli spots do like salads, paninis, etc. read more

2 is super fair. I ordered the 5th Ave Hangover. The sandwich called for prosciutto but on my hero laid ham. Not sure if they tried to pull a fast one but I literally knew on the first bite. The bread chicken was definitely made 2+ days ago and sitting in a refrigerator. Deli rule number 1 - fresh. I can't believe some delis don't grasp this concept. Not that good, not that bad either. This is your typical run of the mill NYC deli. Got a pastrami with the works on a toasted poppy bagel. The sandwich was really cheap compared to the bodegas and delis elsewhere but the bagel was more like a roll. Overall quality was meh and there's so many other options close by. read more

Fairly clean, tables and chairs (would make a great place for a quick lunch meeting or to bring your laptop - outlet close by), counter, tons of juice and chip options. I got a cold cut sandwich on a toasted bagel and about peed my pants in delight. A good everything bagel is hard to find and these guys have one that packs a flavor punch. Bagel and Wraps= LIFE SAVERS!! I always stop here when I go to my job's main office. My staple is the Cinnamon Raisin bagel scooped w/ walnut raisin spread....LOVE IT!!! I usually order a smoothie from here breakfast from here via Grubhub and found out today that they add sugar syrups into the smoothie to enhance the sweetness of the fruit WITHOUT listing this on their menu. I had called to ask because my smoothie was very sweet and they confirmed that they added sugar syrup with a half hearted apology. For those who are diabetic or have dietary restrictions, this is not safe food practice. I tried to get a refund through Grubhub but the restaurant refused to give one. I frequent this place once a week since it's nearby me. There's nothing special about it; it's simply a decent place to get breakfast. I only get bagels when I'm there, so I can't comment on the wraps. They also have a good choice of bottled drinks, chips, and lotto scratch offs. I like how they have a separate TV that shows the headlines of the NYTimes and the lastest Groupon deals. The employees there are also nice; no drones here so that's a plus. Baked fresh daily - nice and crunchy on the outside with a well-done airy, chewy interior. I can eat them plain and find them delicious. They also have breakfast combos, sandwiches & salads at reasonable prices. One of my favorite treats for myself is an everything bagel with low-fat cream cheese, onion and tomato. I don't get it very often but this has turned into my go-to spot for my favorite-bagel breakfast on Saturdays when I'm headed home from the gym. It's not too expensive, gives me a decent sized bagel and the everything bagel here is nice and spicy (it's a weird adjective, but it sort of fits with this one). Brooklyn, imho, has the second best bagels in the world - after Staten Island... This is the closest bagel joint to me, so I was hoping for excellence when we moved to the hood. On my first trip to Bagels and Wraps, I was a bit disappointed to find what is usually a sure sign of a subpar bagel - big holes! You see, I'm of the opinion that the really good bagels are so plump that you can barely see the hole (a la Ess-a-bagel). But needless to say, out of laziness I've come here quite a few times and enjoyed the bagels. It wasn't until I ventured out of my way to some of the other neighborhood joints (one that won't toast and another that has mediocre tasting bagels), that I realized how good the bagels here really are (even though they seem thin and have big holes in them). They are absolutely delicious,. Having said that ,I do think that $4.50 sausage-egg-and-cheese maybe a bit steep. read more

I'm going to start by saying that the bagels I'm used to were made fresh on the premises in a small local business in Astoria. So, I'm used to a certain quality bagel, above average, if not the best. For real. Try it. Astoria Bagels off the Ditmars stop. Bagels and Wraps pales in comparison. My husband went about 2 weeks ago and the selection was slim to none. He picked up a whole wheat with Strawberry and an everything with veggie cream cheese. They were fine. Not great. But fine. The veggie cream cheese is crunchy which I really like. We decided to give them another shot this morning and the bagels were stale, and the cream cheese under-distributed, and I usually complain that there's too much. We will not be going back. Wish there was a negative 5 stars. How can you mess up a bagel with jalapeño cream cheese lightly toasted. Please someone explain this to me. When a customer asks for lightly toasted it means your just warming up the bagel not burn it and when I mean burnt it was literally a charcoal briquette. As for the jalapeño cream cheese. It was cream chEese with a whole jalapeño in it. Not even sliced up. I had to throw it out. Would not have even given it to a person in need of food. This is my neighborhood bagel place. Its always busy. Even when I walk to the subway at 7am in the morning its busy. Having to deal with a hangover on a school day made me go in there and buy sugar and caffeine, so I would't at least look like a walking corpse when turning up to work. The queuing system is a bit erratically and you just have to try and catch someones eye to give your money over. But it seems to be working and none of the customers was in any way irate about it. They always mess the order; either they deliver the wrong item or forget to deliver an item on the order all together. To make matters worse, when you call them back about the order they always have an attitude about fixing. Then they tell you they will fix the order (after much hesitation and going back and forth) and then they will take very long time to send it back out or send you the wrong thing AGAIN. read more

I'm down with this spot. Especially the new whole wheat everything. They aren't yeast-positive, annoyingly doughy bagels. Crisp crust. The turnaround is quick so the bagels are fresh. Shmear options, in my opinion, are limited but they are all fresh. The sundried tomato spread and the tuna fish salad spread are fantastic though some of the other fish schmears are too mayo-dependent. I've had the wraps, but honestly wraps are wraps. I feel like wraps are the mopey, victimized fusion children of an uncomfortable one night stand between the sandwich and the burrito. Why weren't the sandwich and the burrito good enough? What kind of malingered asshole wasn't satisfied with the the world's bounty of sandwiches and burritos? At least panini are warm and crispy. Sorry about the digressive diarrhea... The bagels are good, service is generally friendly and fast. Much better than the flashy, eurotrash bagel place on 5th and Prospect. Also, for some reason the patrons at the other place seem too proud of eating bagels. Middle western "I-eat-bagels-so-I've-made-it!" mentality. The patrons are less smug at B & W. read more
