Catrina Cafe serves up flavorful Mexican food in a quirky, colorful environment. Came here on a Friday night. Their parking lot is tight but we were able to snag a spot. They have outdoor seating, bar seating, and indoor table seating as well. We opted for a table indoors. They had a birthday party happening in the dining room which made for a fun atmosphere. They brought out multiple flaming presentations (a margarita tree with sparkler on top as well as some sort of plaster animal with a flame and shots). Each time they brought out one, they had loud music that they played with the presentation. It didn't bother us but if you want a quiet dinner, this might not be your place. For my dinner, I got the three tacos (carnitas). They were flavorful and delicious. I didn't opt to get the rice and beans with it but honestly, they were plenty filling without it. Nice atmosphere and full of families which I love. I came on a Friday morning for breakfast and was pleased to see it fairly busy. Only one waiter but he managed all of us quite well. The mimosa was a bit sweet for my liking because they added grenadine to it. I ordered another one without grenadine and it was much better although I would have liked it more chilled. I ordered the eggs Benedict and they were okay but desperately needed salt. Had to go to another table to get some salt. I would have preferred the fruit option instead of potatoes but waiter didn't give me that option. When waiter brought me my food he asked if I needed anything else and I said "silverware". He came back a few minutes later and rudely placed them on my table without saying a word. Maybe it was a language barrier but I thought my waiter was bordering on rude. read more

I would give Catrina Cafe 3.5 stars is that were an option. Let me tell you why. My friend and I decided to try brunch here, mainly at my suggestion, since other Yelpers were rating it highly. I was drawn in by the huge menu of choices and the length of brunch (served until 4!). We lucked out with parking in front on a dreary Sunday. We found the outside decor and the main interior to be really cute. We were directed to a table after standing around for a few minutes. Our server, Patricia, was friendly, but it was a little difficult to order because A. it's really loud in here and B. there were language barriers. While we were in the middle or ordering, we were interrupted by a crescendo of music, cutting off all ability to hear anything else. This is apparently done whenever someone orders the margarita tower special ($30). It also includes a giant sparkler. We didn't order this, but experienced the booming music and mini floor show twice. It's a fun idea, but irritating in practice for anyone else in the joint. My friend tried to order a mimosa and was told they were out, which is weird and also not great during Sunday brunch. We eventually each got sangria - I enjoyed the red and she the mango. They were not overly sweet. We decided to order two meals and each try them so she got the divorced eggs and added avocado. The portion size was good. The chilaquiles in the center were pretty good, but the chips were completely saturated with no crunch left to them. The dish was not too hot, but it crept up on you. The black beans it came with were not whole, but a sauce and it may have been nice to know that in advance. I ordered the Me Vale Madres - potatoes with portabella, green onions, jalapeno, cheese, salsa rachera and sour cream. I also ordered a scrambled egg and an avocado side. The portions again were good, although the charge to add 1 egg and avocado seemed a little high. The potatoes had great flavor and a good cheese pull, but unfortunately the potatoes themselves were undercooked and still a little hard. We also had the option to order from the dinner menu, but the brunch menu is so large it got overwhelming. We would certainly go back to try other dishes, but the overall experience was a little underwhelming on first visit. And that music volume gets way, way too loud daytime and a relaxing meal. read more

We checked this place out for breakfast and it was really good! I had the Espanola Omelette (subbed the sausage for chorizo) that comes with a side of seasoned red potatoes. It also comes with a choice of toast, pancakes, fruit or tortillas and I chose the pancakes which were delightful. The place is kind of split with one side as a bar and the other where most of the seating is. Service was great - she was so attentive and always made sure our coffee was refilled. read more

I had the veggie fajitas, which was a very generous portion of everything, and my partner had the strawberry crepes. He enjoyed them and I also tried them and can confirm they were delicious. So, a few highlights: you can get breakfast fare until 4pm, and you can already get dinner options at 3pm. That overlap should keep your squad happy! Also, they have happy hours Wednesday to Sunday, so do check the margaritas and drinks menu for more details. The front patio is nice since there is a tree for some shade.
