Where I live, we are in a little bit of a dead zone for good Mexican food. Long gone is the dependable Dos Bandidos. I'm happy that Cafe Corazon opened the location on Bradley. It's pretty close to our house and has now become one of our go-to's for the cuisine. The inside is pretty small, and a couple times we've gone it's been very busy. Even so, we didn't have to wait terribly long. And even if we had to, it's easy to get one of their great cocktails and chill while you're waiting. The staff is always really nice. A couple times, we sat on their patio -- if it's the time of year where it's open, I definitely recommend that. The burritos I've had were all excellent. The last time, I got the mole sauce and it's the highlight dish I've gotten so far. Chips and salsa are solid. It's just a great place to get tasty Mexican fare plus excellent drinks. read more

This is my favorite spot to grab Mexican food near us. I love the truck tacos, especially vegetarian (Sautéed veggies or the mushroom one, yummy) and ground beef. I have been a longtime fan of the Riverwreest and Bayview locations, and after recently moving to the North Shore, was excited that there was one nearby. The ambience is a little bit bizarre. It feels like it maybe used to be a fast food restaurant that was quickly changed into a new café Corazon location. If that part of the experience is super important to you, it may be worth the drive to one of the other locations. However, the food and service were absolutely delicious. I had a cruncher with birria for the protein, and I can tell I will be back for more soon. Date of visit: August 9, 2024 Some friends and neighbors of ours have been raving about this place for weeks so I was very excited to try this joint out! That we had to park about three blocks away really added to the excitement--this place MUST be good if it's this busy and we have to walk a ways to find a spot to park. Turns out they were doing live music and a fair number of folks on the patio were there to support their friends/band or just to hear the music. We were seated on the patio, though thumbs up to the hostess for asking if that was okay first and advising that if it was too loud, they would definitely move us. Thankfully the music wasn't too loud or too bad, and she even came over later to check and see if all was well with the music/volume, which I really appreciated. The table service was also quite good, and is a big reason for the four star review here as I wasn't wowed by the food. The chips and salsa were not my jam; the chips did not have any flavor or seasoning to make them special and weren't served warm; I would have preferred chips I make at home, actually. The salsa was too spicy for me as well so both were a no go. My Mexican food go to is the quesadilla. We don't do ground beef at home due to my husband's blood pressure so I was excited to try that here but not unlike the chips, there was a lack of flavor as well as sour cream. Foods not good, everything is bland, no hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant, dive bar with locals that don't like anyone else in there type of vibe. Got the vegan taco plate, rice bland beans taste like they were warmed up straight out of a can and then sugar added. Tacos chinsey, black beans same as the gross ones with the beans tofu taco flavorless tofu mushy and cut in big chunks no skill with cooking that, soy chorizo was the best one but still had an off putting flavor. Don't finish the food. Someone that seems like they own it sits at the bar and drinks and is obnoxious and the other people behind the bar seem to enjoy this. The server/busboy that served me was great but everything else was pretty bad. Don't waste your money. Taco Bell is better. read more

My friends and I stopped at Cafe Corazon in Brown Deer on Saturday night for some apps and Margaritas and had the nicest bartender, Courtney. We tried the February Margarita Specials, a Raspberry and a Spicy Strawberry which were both delicious!! Their chips and salsa are always amazing and we had the black bean quesadilla which was also banging!! Glad we got there early because it was packed by the time we left. Cafe Corazon gets 5 stars in my opinion. I've been there many times - usually 4 of us. The food prices are competitive and the portions are a little larger than what I would expect. As such, we usually go home with leftovers. The Burrito's are especially large. Their Margaritas are quite strong. They don't seem to "cheap out" on the Tequila. I usually visit during the warmer months when their outdoor area is open. The inside can get a bit loud because the restaurant isn't too big but that has never really bothered me. Perhaps that's why I like sitting outdoors. I've never experienced any service issues. Staff are always cordial, friendly and attentive. Lots of Mexican fare establishments in the Milwaukee area but this place has become our go-to when its Mexican fare we want. read more

Was looking for somewhere to go for Cinco de Mayo and thought I'd give this location a try. Since the smaller interior was at capacity, we sat outside on the patio and chose seats at the bar. Lucky for us, the weather was perfect for it. I ordered the Jalepeno Margarita to start, which was delicious with just a hint of spice. Our server was kind enough to give each of us our own basket of chips and salsa, which was dangerous considering everyone knows how quickly those go down when you're hungry and waiting for your food. The chips were crunchy, although I did wish there was a little more seasoning on them. The salsa was chunky, loaded with tomatoes and some peppers thrown in. For my main dish, I ordered the Corazon Burrito with steak, which was large in size with balanced layers of rice and beans and large pieces of fresh avocado. For dessert, we tried the Chocolate Tres Leches cake. Unlike the traditional version, this was much denser, but once you cut inside the classic makeup was evident. The service was okay. The food is bland. The chips and salsa were not yummy. Mexican food shouldn't be like this. We stopped by on a Friday evening in the summer. We chose an outside table. The atmosphere was nice. They were super busy and the service was slow. I observed that a couple of people had to find the server so they could pay their bill. We sat at our table a good 15 minutes or so before our order was taken. It took another 25 minutes or so for the food to arrive, only for it to be an incorrect order for another customer. They took the food back. Yep. That happened. I had carnita tacos Mexican style. The pork was bland and dry. That's a bad combination next to a corn tortilla. The food presentation was nice. Got the empanada dinner last night to go. The empanadas themselves were delicious and crispy. I asked them to put the crema, queso fresco, and lettuce on the side, they did - very kind of them. We had lunch at Cafe Corazon today. I'd like to give a good review, but I can't. As to the physical environment, the cafe is small with lots of windows, which doesn't work well in winter. I was cold. The metal chairs are noisy as they scrape across the floor when patrons come and go; as well, the chairs are too small for the average adult. The bar seats looked more comfortable. The waitress was very pleasant and eager to serve us, which is always a plus. When our plates came to our table, the presentation was attractive. The problem was with the flour wrap of my "Wet Burrito." I could barely cut it without struggling, even though I had a steak knife. The wrap was simply too doughy, uncooked. Basically, I ended up eating the insides of the burrito only. The inside ingredients were prepared well, and I loved the chucks of avocado -- but the limp, rubbery, doughy flour wrap ruined my dining experience. If I had been dining alone, I would have complained and sent it back to the kitchen, but I was with my husband and he would have likely been finished with his meal by the time mine was re-made. And that doesn't work! Basically, I feel really cheated, especially because we paid a lot for that meal. read more

This was our first time here...straight and to the point...we sat outside on this beautiful day...the chips were good the salsa in my opinion not so much. The salsa was too thick for my liking. It's better with the queso(has a kick to it...but so good. I had the shrimp fajitas the shrimp was fresh and they were delicious the stir fry veggies were also fresh and good. I recommend a better way to store the tortillas...wrapped in paper they tend to get cold a little faster and a little hard. My husband and daughter had the enchiladas which they both said were good. Been driving past and hearing good things about Cafe Corazon, so we decided to give it a try for my grandson's birthday. Unfortunately, this was not a good choice for this special occasion because we had expectations. Like being greeted and seated. It's a small establishment and wasn't packed but it took at least 15 minutes to even be acknowledged while waiting at the hostess station (we should have left after waiting 10 minutes) but we were hopeful. Well, we waited another 15 minutes and then received chips and water (no acknowledgement of who our server was or if someone would take our order). After an additional 10 minutes or so, we decided to leave. An employee did say goodbye as we walked out of the door. What a waste of time and a huge disappointment for our family who was looking forward to celebrating a birthday and trying a new restaurant in our community. read more

This place is not my favorite for Mexican, but I keep giving it a chance. The service is hit or miss. The salsa is not very flavorful. I usually get a burrito and the avocado and beans are not evenly distributed throughout. The tall barstools are uncomfortable and tip forward. We went to Cafe Corazon last night for dinner!! The restaurant was very cute and clean, the wait staff was excellent!!! Unfortunately, we ordered the pastor tacos!! They were so incredibly greasy, I couldn't even finish my other taco!!! All of our napkins were soaked with grease!! Queso Fundido was a highlighter orange cheese sauce with chorizo that tasted like it came out of a jar and warmed up (along with the salsa and chips, there was nothing special about either, both tasted store bought). Taco salad - I asked for carnitas and the waitress asked what type of beans I wanted so I asked if refried would be good (she said she "didn't know because she hasn't l tried any of the items I asked about" = red flag, super unhelpful) so I went for it. The meat and beans was a mixed together and layered on the bottom on of the shell, it was the consistency of baby food, so unappealing, nothing special about this. My daughters fajitas - were ok, the chicken tasted good but it cane out swimming in grease, the veg undercooked. Service -fast, almost too fast, like there care for preparation was lacking. No knowledge of the food (really, the team should try everything so they can make suggestions. Maybe my waitress was the only one that didn't know the menu.?.? ) . Atmosphere- I bet it would be better on a sunny day to sit outside. We sat inside, super loud. Even though it's a new restaurant the furniture from another was bright over. Not that that is bad, but it didn't win me over. Strike 3 on my checklist. The best part of the meal was the Paloma that I had, I would give that a 3.5 out of 5. Everything else got 1 star. My suggestion is not to visit. Jose's is 10 times better and not that far from this location. 2 meals, an appetizer, and 1 cocktail; $65 later and I just feel annoyed.
