Craving Mexican for dinner on a Monday night, we decided to try Cozumel. We'd passed it on numerous occasions. so I was excited to finally give it a try. There was plenty of seating available, and we decided to eat at the bar, where service was fast and friendly, For my drink, I ordered the 10 oz Jalepeno margarita on the rocks, which was the perfect size considering the generous food portions. It came with a salted rim, lemon and lime garnish and fresh chopped Jalepenos mixed in. Very good, and not too spicy. For dinner, I ordered the Ceviche. This did have some spice to it, and was fantastic. Everything was incredibly fresh, and cut into perfect bite sized pieces. The side of tostadas was a nice way to pause the zesty flavor. The sliced cucumbers were a refreshing touch, and the sliced avocado was nice and tender. This is a great spot to drop in and have great Mexican food. Plenty of space, expansive menu and lively vibe. read more

We ate at Cozumel on a Saturday night because our go to place, Kompali took their taco salad off the menu. The patio at Cozumel overlooking the river is very nice. We should have taken our cue from the group in front of us who left due to the long wait ( over 5 minutes) at the hostess station before anyone acknowledged the 4 groups that were waiting. It took another 5 to get tables cleared and for us to be seated with menus but nothing else. 10-15 minutes later a waitress came around the corner and seemed surprised to see 3 tables seated. It took another 10 minutes for chips and salsa to appear. During this wait another table got up and left. My wife ordered a taco salad and I had the Colorado chile steak. The salad was small and awful. Minuscule amounts of lettuce and ground beef, but tons of beans. The steak bits were over cooked. Dinner took an hour and a half. read more

I had seen their guava margaritas on TikTok and stopped in to try them with a friend. Unfortunately, they were out of that flavor, but I was able to get a watermelon margarita instead (which was just as good). For my meal, I ordered a little of everything: a taco, tamale and enchilada with a side of rice. They all came out hot and a la carte on individual plates. I will say I loved their guac and salsa that we started with the most!! The mains that I tried were pretty good but there are better spots for this style of Mexican food in the city as I thought the dishes could have been a little spicier or more flavorful. Now let's talk atmosphere and service. The restaurant's patio is on the river and there is plenty of seating--making it fantastic for groups! The service was good until the end of our meal. We were left wondering if we pay at the counter or if they bring the check. When we went inside to ask we couldn't find anybody to check-in with. We also were charged for a side we did not order, but we got it taken care of! Overall, it was a pretty good despite a few bumps. I would give it another shot! read more

Incredibly terrible service! We made a reservation for 16 of us on a Saturday night. Had our table ready but not enough people working to serve us drinks & take a proper order. Stopped by with some friends for late night Piña Coladas and tacos. We got the pitcher to split which I would say is good for 3-5 people. I thought the piña colada was pretty good although wasn't the best I've ever had. We would say the tacos are pretty good- 5 star value tacos, $7.50 for 3. We tried the ground beef which had good flavor. I also love the complementary chips and salsa :) Our waitress was super kind and attentive throughout the night. We also sat outside on the patio which is perfect for summer night or day, there is also a large amount of indoor seating which is good for large groups. I went to Cozumel on a Friday night around 6. There were very few people there and we got sat right away. The service was quick and attentive. I ordered the burrito grande with steak and a 20oz blended strawberry margarita. Both were good, but I think I would have preferred the 10 oz margarita because I was so full that it was difficult to finish such a large, sugary drink. The burrito was also quite large and my only regret was that I finished the entire thing instead of saving half to take home. The cheese sauce on top was heavy, but I really liked it! read more

We had a nice time at Cozumel this evening. There was a group of 5 of us on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. The space is large and ideal for big groups. The service was extremely fast and friendly. They checked in frequently and we received everything quickly. The margarita and chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered the carnitas tacos and it was okay but not great. The serving size was very generous but the pieces of meat were very large and hard to eat. It felt like a very heavy meal...make sure you wear loose pants!! read more

DUDE. YUM?! Okay so personally, when a house salsa is really tasty to start with, it tells me the food is going to be great. My wife and I went here for a quick dinner out and they did not disappoint. I had the fiesta fajitas and boy were those filling. Tons of meat in the mix. Our waitress was great as well, even with how busy it got for the dinner rush. The inside is your classic Mexican restaurant look, but I want to go back to sit at the bar with a margarita. The margarita was also very tasty, and just the right amount of alcohol. If you want some real Mexican food, go here and not Bel Air! read more

I live a few blocks away and a neighbor reccomended we go have drinks and dinner outside on the river. We walk into the place and my wife says to the host "Can we please get a table outside?". He snaps back "Hello, how are you". It is 7:00 pm and there isn't a single table outside. the Host asks if we have reservations. We said no and he gives us a look of derision. We begin our order with 4 frozen margaritas. Our server brings out 4 mixed, not frozen. We place our order. He brings our meal with no silverware. 5 minutes later he brings silverware. My wife ordered steak tacos. It consisted of more fat and gristle than actual meat. I ordered seafood enchiladas. Smelled fishy, tasted fishy, shrimp the size of peas! The best part of the meal was leaving. Beautiful setting outside on the river. Too bad the food did not match the setting. Bad food, bad service we will not give it a 2nd chance. read more

First time here. Stopped in around 5:00 on a Saturday, and there were plenty of tables. Got greeted and seated right away. First thing to notice is that it's a big space with lots of seating, without feeling cramped. The decor is bright and fresh. Our server did a great job of settling us in. Got waters, menus, chips and salsa. We ordered guacamole right away, with a pitcher of margaritas. The chips were warm and the salsa mild. The guacamole is fresh, and chunky (might benefit from a little red onion or tomatoes). The margaritas were excellent. For our meal, we got a trio of tacos, taquitos mexicano, caldo siete mares (seafood soup) and a burrito (veggie). Everything about the meal was very good, with one exception. The caldo siete mares was very disappointing. Everything was overcooked, calamari rubbery, and a couple tiny pieces of octopus. This can be hard dish to get right, and unfortunately they failed. Overall a good experience. I would come back, but order something else. read more

THROW YOUR MONEY IN TRASH BUT DON't go to this restaurant Extremely disappointing experience. We waited approximately 90 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, the quality did not justify the wait. On top of that, my order was incorrect. When I asked if the incorrect item could be removed from the bill, I was told the manager would be consulted. The waitress left, returned a few minutes later, and stated that the manager had declined the request. Throughout the interaction, she repeatedly called me "rude," which I found unprofessional and unnecessary. I later discovered, to my disbelief, that the person I had been told was "the manager" was actually the same person I had been speaking with all along, which made the situation even more frustrating and felt completely dishonest. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue, the conversation became argumentative. Between the 90-minute wait, the incorrect order, the poor food quality, and the way the situation was handled, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. Tried Cozumel for a weekend lunch. The indoor area is huge and they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking the river if it's a nice day out. It's covered as well. The service was great and we ordered and received food quickly. I ordered the guava margarita and chicken fajitas. The margarita was good and there's lots of flavors to try. The chicken fajitas was a large portion and enough to share with someone. The food is pretty heavy so come hungry. Food was just ok. I think there's better Mexican in Milwaukee but it's convenient and easy to get to. There's also parking in the building read more

We visited for lunch last fall and decided to sit on the patio seating, which is nice since it's situated above the Milwaukee river. We were able to take our pick from seats in the sun as well as in the shade. We had quick service, and our food was very good! I had the enchilada suizas, which is pretty much a go-to for me at Mexican restaurants. The portions were generous, and overall, it was probably a couple of dollars more for food here vs. somewhere on National Ave., but it's close to home, closer to downtown, and along the river, which are all a plus. Arrived super early to beat the Cinco de Mayo crowds, but had to wait anyway. Waited several minutes to be seated while several tables were available. Waited several minutes for the final dinner plate to arrive at our table, and actually had to ask where it was. No exaggeration the single worst restaurant I've ever eaten from. I'm vegetarian and ordered a bean burrito and a cheese enchilada. They asked if I wanted cheese on top and I said yes, figuring it would be melted cheese on top. What I got was a soggy burrito in queso, and a burrito with nothing but beans in it, nothing else at all. On to the enchilada, there was no mole on top, it was essentially the same as the burrito I received but smaller and only cheese inside of it, soggy again from the queso drowning the enchilada. I ordered side orders of beans and rice, the rice was fine, definitely tasted store bought even if it wasn't, but I can't comment on the beans since I never got them. The chips and salsa were good, but nothing better than what you'd get for free at a halfway decent Mexican restaurant. Avoid Cozumel completely, they are not worth your money. read more

The food is pretty solid here. They start you out with a big basket of warm tortilla chips and some salsa that should be enjoyable to most. My wife loves the enchiladas and the flautas and I've really enjoyed the steak tacos and shrimp tacos. My only complaint was the tostada I ordered was pretty soggy and flimsy, so I ended up eating it like a taco salad, basically. Nice margarita and Mexican beer selection and the pricing is fair on both the food & beverages. Parking can be a challenge depending on when you go. read more

At the site that was once Stubby's, situated along the Milwaukee River, is a new location for Cozumel, which is also located in Oak Creek. Having been to many Mexican restaurants in Milwaukee, my wife and I consider it the BEST. The restaurant is open and airy, and the outside has a great view of the river. The service is fantastic and attentive, and the food is fantastic. I seem to be stuck on the chimichanga (shredded beef) and I can't think of another place anywhere that's better. Everything is made in house, including the chips and salsa. Located near another restaurant that service mainly tacos, this is an authentic Mexican restaurant that blows the other chain away. I always get a margarita and just found out that the Monday, Tuesday and Thursday happy hours are $2.99. Such a good Mexican restaurant! We have been here at least three times, and every time has been enjoyable. The staff is always attentive and friendly. The space, which used to be a former gastropub then a pizzeria, overlooks the river, and offers nice views of the neighborhood. The food has been flavorful and generous! I went here with a friend. $2.99 margaritas on Tuesday and they were very good. Service was not great. Food was very slow to come out, and we had to remind them several times we needed things that were missing. I got the fajitas and the flavor was just okay. Beans and rice almost no flavor. I ate here over the summer recently after they opened. I ordered chicken mole enchiladas and I was disappointed. The mole sauce was okay but the chicken inside the enchiladas was dry and had no mole sauce on them. I've had my fair share of enchiladas growing up in a Mexican family and they were so underwhelming. Apart from that I found what looked like a piece of a hairnet in the chicken. Atmosphere was fine since I was sitting at the bar and it's all decorated nice inside. The food was my gripe with this place and it's gonna take some improvement before I come back. So first off, the location and their employees make you feel so welcome and it's so inviting. I did sit at the bar with my wife and the margaritas are fire. I did order a lot of food and it did not disappoint at all. I'm from California and I love myself a good California burrito and theirs is the closest you'll get, their choriqueso is amazing and so on everything was amazing.
