We love Troublemakers. We love Central Waters Brewery. With these two place combined, you cannot go wrong. We'd been coming to Central Waters for a while, when one night we found ourselves hungry. Since Troublemakers Cocina was open, we gave it a try. We've been hooked ever since! Our two favorite menu items are the Carne Asada Fries and the Carne Asada Burrito. Both are flavorful, fresh, and filling. Triple threat! Prices are reasonable and the staff are always friendly. Plus you can have a scrumptious beer from Central Waters while you wait for your beeper to go off. And the setting is in an old gorgeous church converted into a brewery/event space. You can't beat that ambiance! Prices are reasonable, the space is clean, and there is plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. And there are screens for watching games. We have been here quite a few times and every time the food is excellent and consistent! Tons of fresh veggies and excellent sauces. The fries are crispy and thin. The elote is incredible. Tacos have very good quality meat. The service is quick as long as you know you need to order at the front. The vibes are chill and great for kids if you have one cause it's inside of a brewery. Love this place! It's Mexican food at a whole different level. It's inside the Central Waters brewery so here's a major bonus. I like what they do with the twist on the entire menu. I had the biria quesadilla and the fact that they add sauce to it gives it a nice flavorful twist. And the salsa is amazing, Smokey and creamy. read more

We got food from the food truck at the Night on the Farm event on a Thursday night. The cost was incredibly high for some of the dishes, especially the Carne Asada Fries which had 4 tiny pieces of meat; it seemed like they were running low so rationed the ingredients. It was not worth $19. The Mexican Egg Rolls were delicious and the fish taco meal was good. Street Corn had a big kick in a very small dish. Paying +$80 was expensive. I am very mixed on my review but if money is not an issue I might be willing to try them again next time. read more

Inside of Central Waters Brewing lies a hidden gem. This restaurant serves modern Mexican cuisine and some of the best cheese curds in Wisconsin (yes I said it). Even though the food took a little while, it was well worth the wait. With the high celongs and great veins, it gives you a feeling like no other. I stopped by the food truck at Maifest and was rather unimpressed. They ran out of fries less than 2 hours into the event which was one of three categories being offered and didn't cross out the category so everyone waiting in line had to find out at that it was out and had to panic order after waiting 30+ minutes in line. They were also short pennie's so shorted my change. Just overall not a great experience. The Street corn that I ordered was good but I had to pay an extra $2.50 for the brussel sprouts to be added BACK on to the item because they had crossed that off the menu despite not being out of brussels sprouts? Visited Troublemakers Cocina last weekend in advance of an Admirals game. We were looking for someplace new to us and in the mood for Mexican. Troublemakers is located inside the Central Waters Brewing Co. building in Milwaukee's brewery district. The building is a remodeled historic church and very cool inside. It's an interesting setup there is a walkup service area for the restaurant where you order and pickup. We decided on two of the daily specials the Carne Asada Street Burrito and the Birria Tostadas. The person taking our order seemed indifferent to customer service and for the number of people eating in the building and considering the specials, it seemed to take a while for our food to be prepared. I also had to ask for silverware as the self service containers were mostly empty and sitting next to 2 tubs piled full of returned dirty dishes. We ordered drinks from the Brewery bar. Regardless of these things, food looked and tasted delicious. I found the description "street burrito" kind of funny because it was covered in sauces that would have made it difficult to eat with your hands "on the street". But everything was hot and tasty which made this 4 stars vs 2. We would go back. But maybe allow a few minutes extra, and definitely prepared for a more "do it yourself" dining experience. read more

This place is inside a really great brewery in Milwaukee called Central Waters. We ordered tacos and they were incredibly delicious and very authentic. Our favorite was the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower tacos, they were tasty, crispy and a little bit spicy, pure perfection. Great food to have with great beer. Definitely check them out. read more

Let me first start by saying the food was good, not great but good. It's also incredibly cold in there so your food will get cold (eat fast!) Egg rolls were a hit. Secondly, the woman who cannot talk taking orders was the most rude person I have ever met. She made it seem like it was such a huge problem to make another order that was paid for and then huffed and puffed when asking for to go containers. Worst customer service experience I have EVER encountered. Being deaf is no excuse to treat paying customers that way. Would not come back just because of her. read more

We came during their birria weekend and were lucky to be able to get everything on the menu but with birria. I got the rice bowl - delicious. And my bf got the Mac n cheese. I thought our night at Central Waters and Troublemakers Cocina left a lot to be deried. Like good food and better attitudes. The bartenders were stand offish as I tried to converse with them about their awards at beer shows. The food was expensive and quite awful. I went to Central Waters last night specifically to try Troublemakers, and it might be the best Mexican food I've had since I moved to Milwaukee. My husband and I split the taco platter (one each of carne asada, al pastor, chicken tinga, fish, and roasted cauliflower + Brussels sprouts). Good size tacos with double tortillas, which seem like they might be lightly fried so they're super flavorful without being greasy or crunchy, and they hold up without tearing. We had trouble deciding which taco was our favorite, but were both impressed with how tender and juicy the carne asada was, how light the battered fish was, and how deeply roasted the veggies were. Ordering was easy--walked right up to the counter in the back of the beer hall and got a little buzzer to let us know when the food was ready. The menu seems perfect for sharing if you're tasting beers with others, and I'm looking forward to going back to try more items. Here's hoping they stick around and someday expand to more spots! The North Shore badly needs good Mexican food and I'd love to see something like this in my neighborhood. read more

We visited Troublemakers recently in their Central Waters Brewing location and were greeted by a super friendly (I think?) owner who took our order. We learned about Troublemakers through dumplingfest recently and really enjoyed their dish so we wanted to check out their full menu. We ordered the hummus platter, carne asada fries (our favorite), beef birria egg rolls, and the street corn quesadilla. The food came out quick and freshly made. Everything was delicious and jam packed with flavor. My only regret is not choosing a wider variety of dishes as many of the same flavors made up each dish. It was nice to be able to try some Central Waters drink options alongside Troublemakers as well so I definitely recommend visiting them at this location! read more

Wow. Save your money. The lady that took my order was insanely rude. I was treated essentially like an inconvenience for her, which is wild considering I was the only customer in sight. Not a great start to first lunch service day... Then proceeded to say more sly comments in the kitchen while I was waiting for my food. The food, was also greatly disappointing. $24 for a taco meal. chicken tacos were okay. steak was gritty, and rice had no flavor. just an all around awful experience. the woman that took the order needs a serious attitude adjustment. We had the pleasure of having Troublemakers Cocina cater for our daughter's rehearsal dinner in our backyard. They were prompt, efficient, well prepared with heating containers for the refills, stayed to refill and cleaned up beautifully. None of this compares to the amazing freshness and amazing flavors of the food that Troublemakers prepares. All of our 70 plus guests loved the food and raved about the fresh tastes.
