    1. Enchilada, Taco and Chimichanga Combo
    Erin P.

This was our first time at this location. I'm so glad that we finally made it in. The first thing we immediately noticed when walking in was how clean and organized everything was/is. Super impressive. The staff was warm and inviting so we were feeling hopeful. The food did not disappoint. My husband had the Pechuga De Pollo En Mole Poblano--which is grilled chicken breast with mole poblano sauce and topped with melted white cheese served with rice and beans and tortillas. It was fantastic. I couldn't make up my mind and went with a combo so I could try a few things: Enchilada, Taco & Chimichanga. Really good. The portions are generous, food was delicious and service was great.

Came here with my girlfriend bc we were craving Mexican on a Saturday night. The place is absolutely massive inside but coming in you wouldn't think it would be so big inside. I couldn't imagine if this place could be at full capacity based on the parking lot size. I got the CHICKEN PICADO & it was good. You do get a really good value for everything you get. Especially since you get a basket of chips & salsa for free. Would recommend them simply bc it is just good casual food. I can see this place getting regulars all the time since prices are very stable

There two Botanas locations under different ownership as a result of a divorce. This is the better location, hence, the better half (so to speak). It's got excellent service and good mixed drinks. The food is Americanized Mexican, and if that's what you want you will be happy here. If that's what you know to expect, then you won't be disappointed. This is a fun place for a celebration, a place where coworkers can unwind together, a place where friends can share laughs.

This used to be my favorite Mexican place But I don't know what happened tonight. Margaritas were watery and the food taste was bland and not very much meat. Perhaps the rising food costs are finally catching up but I left kinda disappointed after recommending to family and friends. Hopefully it was just an off day.

Stopped at botanas 2 after the Dan Jansen festival and had a great time with my best friend enjoying the best pina colada I've ever had on their back patio plus they also have a patio in the front so there is no shortage on outdoor dining during the summer and I would highly recommend if you're in the area to check this place out you won't regret it.

The #1 - taco, enchilada and mini chimichanga and my delicious pina colada!

This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants! Good fresh Ingredients, good value and very friendly staff. Right now you may need to wait a little longer for a table, but once seated we thought the service was very punctual. Great atmosphere indoors and outside. They have Front and back patios. We noticed The front patio is dog friendly. If you like piña colada's - theirs are delicious!

It's cool. Nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. Solid drink selection. Prices are average for the area. Private parking lot. Solid service. There is your Botana's summary. The experience begins when you park in the private lot and walk in the front door. There is a hostess area, then a large U shaped bar in classic Wisconsin style. Here you can have a drink while you wait, order dinner, or hang out and check out one of the many TVs on the wall. They even give you free chips and salsa while you are at the bar, which is something I love about Mexican places in Milwaukee. The seating areas are nothing fancy, but more than adequate. No complaints, but nothing special either. There is a strange large wooden box in the back patio with signs saying "do not climb." Not really sure what that is about, but it is the focal point of the back patio. The margaritas were not strong, but had good flavor. I had frozen and on the rocks. both were ok. The food itself was tasty. I went with enchiladas, and was happy with the chunky beef, sauces, and flavor. The service was adequate as well. Drinks stayed full, food service was prompt, and the staff was attentive. If you want a solid south side Mexican place, check out Botanas.

Seafood enchiladas (and beans and rice), with sides of salsas, guac and sour cream

In honor of passing math class (basic algebra, don't judge) , which is my first semester back to college in four years, I decided to branch out and try something new! Was feeling tacos or burritos, but enchiladas were calling my name as I haven't tried them before. I've never tried Botanas II, but they had great reviews and looked legit. I got the seafood enchiladas; and, because I'm a sucker for sides, got guac and sour cream. The delivery was pretty quick for what appears (from yelp stalking) as a cute family restaurant, and actually delivered 15 minutes before I expected! My first experience with enchiladas couldn't have been a better experience. Soooo tasty. First bite was super flavorful and had a whole shrimp (they didn't skimp on the seafood!). This will definitely be my go to place for Mexican from now on! To add to their awesomeness, they included salsa and tomatoes and onions for free. The cherry on top of the delicious enchilada cake was this adorable cup with my name on it! It seems trivial, but it was really thoughtful, and as someone who doesn't have a commonly spelled name, I never get cups with the correct spelling. Needless to say, Botanas II knocked it out of the park.

Tl:dr great service but food needs work I would agree with the last few lower starred reviews. The service we had was GREAT - but that's where things kind of fell off. The space is a very vibrant green jungle theme with giant painted animals everywhere (including the bathrooms) I'm not sure if this is how the main location is setup (since this is II) but there is a slight "older" feeling to it. The server so was nice and the chips were fresh and the salsa was complimentary and had a good flavor to it (could have gotten a hotter option - always hotter in my book lol). The meal was medium priced, but what I struggled with was the food. Just average. There wasn't much spice or event seasoning on the meats in any of my items (chimichanga, enchilada, taco). Also, there really wasn't anything on them (lettuce, tomato, cilantro, onion, etc.) and there could have been more cheese. High hopes a second time around will result in a different food experience and same excellent service.

I really like this place because it has an upscale decor done in a nice way with a long elegant bar, hi tables next to the bar, big booths, big wrap around windows with elegant light fixtures. I was started chips/salsa and I ordered a multi colored margarita. The chips were thin/fresh but not seasoned. The salsa was good with avocado chunks and some nice heat finish. The multi color margarita was thick and ok but it lost it self with all the flavors in one large glass. I would order the combination plate with one taco, enchilada and tostada with choice of meat that comes with rice and beans. Service was ok and my food came quickly and it had a nice presentation on a rectangular plate. The ground beef enchilada was cheesy but fairly bland. The steak taco was not seasoned very well either but it had tiny diced skirt steak with a char grilled flavor and very good, the tiny diced meat was genus because none of the meats will be chewy and hard to eat. The tostada was Al pastor with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cheese that was good with a sweet taste in the pork. The beans were super thick topped with cheese and the rice was perfect for mixing with the beans and topped with hot sauce. Overall was it the best Mexican restaurant no because I like more seasoned food but it was good and better than average. Even though I forgot to review it on my first visit I did remember that the margaritas were big and I did enjoy the food.

My family was flying back home on a Friday night and I had to pick them up from the airport in Milwaukee, so I needed dinner somewhere nearby. Final Approach has an all you can eat beer battered cod special on Friday nights, so that was my choice. I went with potato pancakes for the side. Both the potato pancakes and beer battered cod were fine. I've had better versions of both elsewhere. For an all you can eat option, though, it was more than adequate, especially by the airport as it would be busy enough without the AYCE option. Likely I'll try somewhere else if I find myself in the area on Friday night again.

Well, because it's not! Inside the place was hopping with a nice crowd of people. Still was able to get in and seated immediately. Place decorated for 4th of July and wasn't gaudy but fun. Lots of wood and you can sit at the bar if you want. Nice selection on the menu but since it was Friday we ordered the fish. Hubs had the fried cod and I had the baked. Portions totally filled your plate and were very good. Fried cod came with lots of fries which Hubs said were tasty and the baked cod came out served with rice and vegetables. Cole Slaw wasn't good but that seemed the only real issue. For some reason they served a slice of marbled rye with the fried fish but I don't think that's necessary. Prices for fish were really good and I think if you had gone to a higher end restaurant you would have paid around $10 more for the same dish. Overall a good experience and I'd come back again if we're in the area.

We originally…read moretried a couple of other seafood spots, but they wouldn't seat our group with about an hour and a half left before closing. King Crab Shack was incredibly accommodating and let us make a reservation, which really saved the night. Walking in, I loved the coastal vibe. The fishing nets, nautical décor, wooden booths, and little crab details throughout the restaurant made it feel like you stepped into a seafood shack by the beach. It was clean, spacious, and had a fun atmosphere that fit the meal perfectly. One thing I thought was surprisingly clever was the vinyl bibs. Not only did they have an adorable crab printed on them, but they also had a pocket at the bottom to catch any seafood that inevitably falls while you're cracking shells. The gloves were a perfect touch too! It's a small detail, but it definitely came in handy! The menu had plenty of seafood options at different price points, whether you're looking for a smaller seafood boil or a feast for a group. We ordered two Combo #3s ($99.99 each), Combo #6 ($95.99), a pound of mussels ($18.99), and an extra order of snow crab clusters ($35.99). While seafood isn't cheap, the portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and it felt like a fair value for the quality and amount of food we received (table of 5). One thing to keep in mind is that the combo meals have set seafood combinations, so there isn't much flexibility to mix and match items. It wasn't a dealbreaker for us, but it's something worth knowing if you're hoping to customize your combo boil. We all chose the Garlic Butter Crazy Cajun seasoning at a medium spice level, and I highly recommend it. The garlic butter gave everything a rich, buttery base while the Cajun seasoning layered in smoky, savory slices with just the right amount of heat. The medium spice definitely lets you know it's there, but it never overpowered the seafood. Instead, it built gradually and complemented the natural sweetness of the crab, lobster, shrimp, mussels, and crawfish. Every bite was coated in flavor, and we found ourselves dipping everything into the extra sauce. The seafood itself was fresh and cooked well. The snow crab legs were a little difficult to crack, but once you were able to dive in, it was packed with sweet tender meat. The lobster tails stayed juicy instead of becoming rubbery, the muscles were plump, and the shrimp had a fresh bite. The corn, potatoes, and sausage, and eggs soaked up all of that delicious seasoning and honestly became just as enjoyable as the seafood. I also wanted crawfish, but no one else at the table wanted to order a whole pound. After mentioning it to our server, they were kind enough to bring me a couple crawfish on the side instead of making me purchase an entire order. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really showed they cared about making our experience enjoyable. The only thing I'd love to see improved is the seafood tools. They provided crackers and scissors, but they weren't very effective and made getting into the crab legs and lobster more difficult than it needed to be. A sturdier cracker and sharper seafood scissors would make the experience much smoother. Between the welcoming staff, fun atmosphere, fresh seafood, flavorful seasoning, and thoughtful customer service, this was a great place to celebrate a special occasion. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm craving a seafood boil.

They often make…read moremistakes in orders, but I keep coming back because there really isn't much competition for this sort of seafood in town. There is a much better place in Madison. When we asked him to check the manufacturer label for dairy/egg, he said he "maybe could do that". That was a weird start. Our first round of orders were really disappointing. Our tempera and crab rangoons were soaked in oil and the oil tasted like it was old. We had to soak up the oil from the plate because you could see it dripping from the rangoon. Our Nigiri pieces came out and our fish was warm. Honestly, we mentioned something to our waiter and the response was that the rice was recently made so it was warm. That made us a bit skeptical.
