Seating indoors and outdoors. I feel they had a good selection of food options. I opted for something I've never had, the smoked salmon benedict with house potatoes. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly. I ordered my eggs medium & they were delicious. Everything paired so well together. Came on a Friday at 10AM for the first time & had a truly pleasant experience. We were worried about street parking but since it was between the usual breakfast or lunch times, parking was easy & the 2 hour limit was plenty of time. This location is right off of Main Street in downtown seal beach. Parking is ample and walking from a local neighborhood wouldn't cost you any parking cost. It's hardly ever busy, but we came here on Halloween, which is exceptionally busy for whatever reason. The people are super friendly and my friend who I went with knows everyone. The food is very good although this dish was a little bit expensive because it doesn't come with any protein. $28 including the tax and tip I thought was a bit pricey for the salad, but nonetheless, the quality was excellent. read more

We parked in front of this place by chance this morning. Original plan was to go to Crema Cafe next door. But something drew us to come here instead, and I'm glad it did. Inside is a clean and well lit dining area. The servers were nice, timely, and attentive. The food was fulfilling! The chilaquiles was probably top 1-2 I've had (but I forgot where I ate the other one, :)) and the cubano torta was plenty for 1. Ordered with a glass of OJ, and the rest was all she wrote. I've passed by this cute little restaurant so many times on the way to Crema Cafe, and I'm so glad I finally stopped in! I wasn't in the mood for eggs, so I ordered from the sandwich menu and got the veggie wrap. It was delicious and HUGE so I saved the other half to go. My boyfriend had an omelet and really enjoyed it. It was busy, but not overwhelmingly so it's definitely more chill than the usual wait at Crema. I still love Crema, but tbh, this place might have just won me over. The space is small but very clean, service was fast, and the staff were all super attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the Catrina Benedict with fruit. I enjoyed the food temperature, simple presentation, and flavor. Rewind, I arrived on a Saturday morning (around 7:45 AM) and observed 2 single parties seated - 1 person eating at a 2-seat table the other person not eating at a 4-seat table. I was greeted within a minute of entering the restaurant. The restaurant had a mix of 2-seat and 4-seat tables. I requested sitting at a 4-seat table in the corner. I was told promptly - "no, I am saving the 4-seat tables for larger parties. We get busy in the morning." Mental note - this IS MORNING and only 3 parties in the restaurant. Hmmm... later, as people entered the restaurant they were told to sit anywhere. One of the couples chose a 4-seat table yet were not asked to sit at a 2-seat table. They ordered and received their food by the time I had the opportunity to order. What is the point? SERVICE... A restaurant should create a warm inviting ambiance allowing you to feel like a guest. I ordered and received my food in a timely manner. During my meal, I noted no follow up or check in by staff. AND, the seating was at less than 50% capacity. As I walked out the door, I did not hear a "thank you - come back soon" like the other guests leaving the restaurant. Good food... Service, ambiance, and feeling like a valued guest - meh... I probably will not come back soon but will probably take a few extra steps to Crema Cafe. Crema Cafe gets crowded (like a huge group of people waiting outside the restaurant) in the morning. AND, yet, on a busy Saturday morning, the Crema Cafe's staff offer a wonderful SERVICE experience whether you are a regular or not. The food is delicious too. read more

Quaint restaurant tucked on a business street mixed with restaurants. They were busy when we arrived and then it fizzled down. We were seated quickly and our order taken, but it took what I felt was a long time (at least 20 min) to get our food. I didn't think that it would take that long since we ordered relatively easy entrees. The salsa verde is really tasty and was a much needed addition to the fit plate. I would've liked them to have cut off the brown pieces from the avocado before serving. The spicy BLTA was big with good flavor. This is probably my favorite brunch place in California. I still come to this restaurant to this day. I moved to Vegas 2 years ago and still come here to have brunch with my girl. 1. Staff is extremely nice, always attentive to us and ensure our experience is good at all times. 2. Food quality for price is great. You get high quality food for what you're paying for. I've had many dishes at this restaurant. Breakfast burritos, avocado toast, chilaquiles, mollettes, etc.. everything has always been tasty, flavorful, and high quality. 3. Location is great, the inside is designed well with plenty of seating options. Parking is fairly easy depending on the day you go. My go to order here is typically the breakfast burrito with sub/ carne asada. And a chocolate abuelita with a shot of espresso. Try it out! And make sure to get the molcajete salsa on the side. Update to my initial impression. Let me start by saying I won't be back. I'm sure a lot of people say this about Catrina Cafe, but don't go to the effort of posting about the experience. The food is now mid (this is happening everywhere). The servers either don't take your order properly or they don't care about what gets served. So if you accidentally stumble here, just don't depend on any customization you may request. Waitresses now regularly scuff around in dirty bedroom slippers. (Gag!) They've also started a weird new practice with tables where they automatically save unused tables and ask patrons to "move somewhere else." It seems there's a clique of various seniors and while it seems nice, this group gets not only a table reserved, but they are allowed to bring pets inside the restaurant where no one else can! In a world with many social pain points, an economy that puts a breakfast out as a very special occasion, and a huge array of great nearby choices for breakfast, the behavior and the business practices are puzzling. Do not come here unless you are a longtime local customer. There are clearly two levels of service. After coming almost every Saturday at opening for over a year, we regularly sat at the same table. Recently, that table began being "reserved" before opening for favored regulars that waltz in long after others have arrived for breakfast. We accepted it and moved on. Today, the table was not reserved, so we sat--only to be asked to move. This was done in front of other guests and in a rather rude manner by a server that knows us. This was the final straw. We will not return. There are plenty of great breakfast spots nearby that treat all customers equal. As a side note, the guests for whom the table is reserved, are not there for a special event or meeting. It's the same guests that come every Saturday morning with a non-service dog in a doggie cart, to simply eat breakfast and chat. When I called to ask if we could bring our small dog in in a doggy cart, but we were told we could not. "Only service dogs allowed". Expect to be treated as a lower class guest unless you meet their special criteria. read more

My wife and I adore Catrina's Cafe. We have been regular patron's for over 7 years. Start with the the restaurant. It's clean, airy, a great atmosphere with just the right amount of coziness. Good food keeps one returning again and again. Their breakfasts are the best. Homemade bread and muffins. Good coffee. The Chilaquiles are so good. Homemade tortilla chips, chili verde sauce. I look forward to breakfast each time. We've tried their omelette's, breakfast burritos. All so enjoyable and tasty. Service is top notch. Maria and Kendal know us by name, as they do so many of the other diners. One of the owners is always there. A positive sign of the pride in the restaurant. We waited 30-45 minutes to be seated; it was packed on a hot Sunday. Looking into this breakfast joint, they could have seated people fast because there were many open tables when we sat. Their California Benedict ($15) was delicious, and the potatoes were really good, too! The potatoes were thinly cut and almost tasted like they had a hint of pesto? Don't take my word on that. I also tried a bite of their Strawberry Nutella Crepe, which was good too! I would come back, but not if it's 45+ minutes again. Parking was also tricky. Have started coming here a couple of months ago and really enjoying everything we try. Their California Benedict has a wonderful hollandaise sauce and I enjoy the layered ham instead of the single slice of Canadian that others use. The eggs are perfectly cooked. Today we also tried their berry toast which is their homemade English white toast with a light spread of their homemade almond butter and peach glaze. The food here is so good. This place is always busy and it's way too small for how busy it is. The Mollete is just outstanding. The breakfast burrito with chorizo is also good. The crepes are to die for. They also have great lattes! Parking is rough which prevents me from coming more often but I always get a nice little walk to the cafe from wherever I find parking.
