So, I'll start off by saying that the sushi and nigiri was very good. So the food itself was solid. The problem was that we made a reservation for 815 and had to stand around and wait until 845 to be sat. So I'm struggling to understand what the point of making a reservation was in the first place if they are more or less just going to ignore it. No apologies or anything, just ended up seating us a half hour later. After that, the server comes and takes just our appetizer and my wife's order, then starts to walk away. Confused, I have to stop him and bring him back so I can order my food. I really wanted to try their wagyu steak, but at this point, I didn't want to give them any more of my money, to be honest. Everytime I come to Vegas, catch is a restaurant I love taking my clients to. Service: 10/10 Always attentive and phenomenal at explaining new dishes. Waters are always topped off and food comes out in a timely manner I recommend their seafood tower everytime and it has not disappointed. A fresh assortment of lobster, scallops, oysters, and tuna is what greets you. If you're in the mood for sushi, the catch roll is a solid choice as well as their nigiri platter. I'm very fond of the fact that it's not entirely dark in here like most restaurants. I can actually see the food and don't doze off waiting for things to come out. Located near the front entrance of Aria, CATCH stands out with its floral tunnel entrance, in classic Vegas fashion and definitely eye catching. The Asian-fusion menu offers a mix of sushi and steak. We ordered the pre-set meal to share with the table. For appetizers, we had edamame, the Hellfire roll, the Catch roll and truffle sashimi, nothing really stood out. For second course, we tried the baby gem Cesar salad (4/5), wagyu gyoza (3.5/5) and Crispy cauliflower (5/5). The cauliflower was highlight of the night. For the mains, we got the ribeye and roasted branzino. The ribeye was undercooked for medium rare, the center pieces were pretty much raw. The branzino was cooked pretty well, tender and nicely seasoned. I could probably do without the artichoke that came with it though. For the sides, we got truffle fries (5/5) and grilled broccolini (meh). Desserts were solid, hard to go wrong with chocolate cake and donuts. Overall the only dish that really stood out for me was the crispy cauliflower. Maybe my expectations for Las Vegas dining were too high, but I ended up not very impressed. We ordered the chili garlic edamame, hellfire roll, crispy rice cakes, branzino for 2, and mashed potatoes. The edamame was slightly spicy but not overly so and tasted great. Our party of four had a 5 pm reservation that we were able to make the same day. Already probably not a good sign. The only reason we chose Catch was because we were staying at the ARIA, needed an early dinner reservation, and had some credit through the hotel. Since we had a late lunch, none of us were really that hungry so we ordered a bunch of small things to share: -Tuna Tartare - the fish was fine. Nothing special about it. The avocado on the bottom tasted a little bit like those pre-packaged guacamoles you'd find at the supermarket -Grilled Spanish Octopus (crispy potato, sofrito, garlic aioli) - this was probably the better dish of the night. You usually can't go wrong with octopus -Mashed Potatoes (with roasted garlic) - the texture was kind of gummy and not the fluffy mashed potatoes I was expecting -Brussels Sprouts (yuzu-calamansi vinaigrette, dry miso) - this was so salty. I didn't taste any yuzu or calamansi. Maybe they put too much miso I think this spot is meant more for the 'gram than it is the food. At the entrance they have a pretty archway where you can take pictures. So if that's your thing, maybe just take the pictures and leave (lol). We visited Catch on Sunday evening. They have a gorgeous entry with flowers hanging from the ceiling and photo opportunities throughout the whole entrance. We were seated after about a 15 minute wait. They have a bar area but it was full so we waited in the lobby area of the Aria. Once seated we were greeted by our server and we ordered some drinks. The busser kept our waters filled all evening. Great service on his part! Our server was good, although maybe a little pompous. He acted like he had never met people who had not been to Catch before and simple questions like - "are 2 appetizers and 2 rolls enough food for us" was met with aloofness. As for the food, we started with the crunchy rice cakes and the crispy cauliflower. And wow!! Both dishes were excellent but cauliflower will never be the same for me again. It was so SUPERB! It was cooked perfectly and coated in a delicious sauce. We could not stop talking about this dish. We also had two rolls- the Baked king crab roll and the Hellfire roll. Both were good with the Hellfire being our favorite. For dessert we had to try the Hit Me Chocolate cake which was fun and scrumptious. For three of us we could have had another dish. Aesthetic & Ambiance: 9/10 The place starts by walking through a beautiful hall of greenery, floral and lights. It tasted like a fresh real california roll, not surimi or fake. Branzino: 9.5/10 the filet was cooked perfectly as well with the skin having the right amount of crisp without being burnt, and the whole piece also being deboned. The basmati rice was delicious with a nice citrus overflow. Cantonese Lobster: 9.5/10 this made the top of my list for largest "course" in an omakase. Sitting at 2.5lbs of lobster we finished every bite. It was so tender and flavorful. The meat itself was cooked perfectly without any game to the chew, the combination of sauces were robust and one of a kind. Garlic Mashed: 7/10 it was good and garlicky, smooth and creamy just nothing like the rest of the dishes. Broccolini: 2/10 this was understandable, with how great everything else was there had to be something. Cutting the stock was no joke, and biting into it I was almost worried I'd chip a tooth. The few pieces I tried into were almost like raw broccoli stems very firm and the grill char was overpowering. Hit me Cake: 7.5/10 the cake part was good but the dish is messy. The "hit me" comes from smashing a melted Klondike bar on top to coat the cake, but mine kind of exploded haha. The ice cream part within the cake itself was very frozen and a bit hard to break into with the spoon. The rest was good! Such a beautiful restaurant with great entrance, perfect for a photo backdrop. We had an awesome food experience last year when we celebrated my husband's birthday, that we decided to come back this year to eat here again. The food fell flat this year, not sure if they changed the menu or what. Service was great but would have preferred our server recommend some dishes to us. Last year, what really made it memorable was our server recommended every single dish we had and just really made it a great experience for my husband. We celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary at CATCH located inside of Aria Resort & Casino. It did not disappoint! The food, beverage, service, and ambiance were all pretty wonderful. The entrance alone impressed me with its magical forest of flowers and lights. Our reservation was at 5:15pm on a Saturday night, so it was early and it felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. By 6pm, it was a full house of customers who looked like they were grabbing a bite to eat before a big concert...my guess is that it was Backstreet Boys since white was the theme of the night. How fun! Our server was Thomas, who was kind and attentive! This is what we ordered: *COCKTAIL* For Lychees Sake - mixed to perfection! *CATCH CLASSICS* Baby Gem Caesar Salad: generous serving; lightly dressed. Do not pack leftovers since it's made with avocado. Grilled Spanish Octopus: LOVE how this was prepared; best octopus I've ever eaten! Miso Cod Lettuce Cups: the textures and flavors were amazing *FROM JAPAN TO LAS VEGAS* Hamachi Crudo, King Salmon Belly, & Torched Scallop. Flown in from Japan's Toyosu Market and you can tell. Each bite was fresh, delicate, and heavenly! *SIDE* Wagyu Fried Rice - wow!! This dish apparently replaces the Lobster Macaroni and was a hit! A bit pricey at $65, but the small bites of Wagyu did it for me. We savored this dish until the end of our meal. So yummy! By the time the idea of dessert came around, we were stuffed! Since we were headed to watch the late showing of Mystere at TI, we just decided to keep it simple and ordered Espresso's. It was exactly what we needed to end the night at Catch! read more
