Morimoto is phenomenal. It is located inside the MGM Grand and will provide you with such a special dining experience. It will be one you won't soon forget. The Somalia and Server made sure every detail of our dinner was taken care of. We met with some clients of my husband's, so I wanted this meal to be grand. We received amazing help choosing the right wine. They have an extensive list, so the advice was extremely helpful. The dinner menu is no less extensive so when we were able to provide our server with a price per person, he was able to curate the perfect meal and hit every choice with amazing accuracy to what we would like. We had one person in our party who was not fond of sushi and he still had an amazing meal and enjoyed the restaurant. The area being within a casino's shopping space can make it a little unpredictable for noise level. We have eaten here before and had no issues. This night the nearby bar had very loud live music. You may want to keep that in mind if you require a quieter atmosphere. There are tables placed deeper within the space and that may be requested. I highly recommend making reservations.

I gotta say....i was surprisingly disappointed with my first experience at Morimoto. First - let's talk about the service. Our server was nice and he recommended a solid sake but the timing of our food and drinks was definitely not on par with other fine dining experiences in Vegas. The appetizers showed up at our table so fast that I actually thought they'd made an extra and had it at the ready before we ordered. Food hit the table at the same time as the drinks (not ideal) and they served the sushi, along with the sake), before we were done with the appetizer and only about a third of the way through the drinks. The tuna pizza was excellent - the hits of salt from the olives really completed each bite. The lobster in the lobster Bao was perfect, but the bao dough was just alright. (I could name 3 places on Spring Mountain that surpass it.) The sushi combination was very good but they slipped in a cooked shrimp nigiri and an eel nigiri, which is pretty bush league for a $170 sushi plate. Overall, I was happy with the meal, but considering the location and pricing, it didn't meet the correlating expectations.

Decided to try this restaurant for first time on a Saturday night reservation. We waited few minutes before being seated. As soon as you walk in, the restaurant consist of dim ambience and open seating throughout. We were also attended to immediately. For appetizers, we order the pork gyoza and kakuni (pork belly) bao bun. Both were delicious, nicely seasoned and crispy. I'd definitely order again. For the entrees we ordered the ishi yaki chashu bop (pork on rice). There was a presentation of mixing the components of the dish in front of you. Overall, it was good, the rice towards the bottom of the dish was hard and overcooked but the pork was tender and seasoned well. We ordered two specialty rolls: the dragon and soft shell crab roll. Both were good, nothing too special. I'd say the restaurant was a 4/5 experience overall from good service to delightful dishes. Definitely give this place a try if you're staying at the MGM grand hotel or a local and willing to try a new Asian cuisine on the strip with an award winning iron chef.

Usually when in Vegas, sushi is the last meal on my mind and I'm usually searching for the best seafood buffets or an amazing steak. However, that has changed, thanks to Morimoto which is located in the MGM hotel. While staying here, I saw people waiting in line for this place to open and wait times were pretty long, so since it was just me, I decided to ask someone at the bar if they were leaving and luckily I caught someone on his way out. The restaurant is beautiful and is the home to Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. I wish I would have sat in the dinning area because it looks amazing. However, I was just happy to be there and the bartender was super helpful and amazing. She was quick to take my drink and food order, while cracking small jokes making my time there enjoyable. As for the food, I decided to go with the chefs choice sushi special which is an assortment of sushi rolls, a rainbow roll which isn't on the menu and an White Lily cocktail. The sushi was so good and fresh and the drink was super solid. I haven't had a lot of sushi in Vegas but this is already my favorite sushi spot lol. I will say, that it is pretty pricey so be prepared. Besides that, if I'm close or staying at the MGM, I'll be back. Make reservations or something to avoid the wait or go solo and grab a seat at the bar. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

What an incredible experience. We sat at the teppanyaki counter and had such a great time with our group. The GM was so personable and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, sushi was fresh and flavorful. Overall a great experience.

We had a reservation and was seated quickly. Ken our server greeted us and gave us a couple of minutes to get our drink order ready. I had an idea of what I wanted to try, so we didn't waste time. I went down the list, and Ken let us know we had a lot of food, and shaved a couple things from my list. I'm local, so don't mind leftovers, but we took his advice, and we had the perfect amount of food. Really appreciated not having to walk around the casino with a food bag!! We were seated near the sushi bar, and it was a bit loud.

I was here for an event with 50+ other people. Everything was served family style. Tacos, ceviche and sushi. Massive was super fast and the meal was great.

This is our go to place at MGM Grand Las Vegas! The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is exceptional especially if you get Truman. The ambiance transports you back to japan and the overall experience is great. Fernando the sommelier always has great recommendations or in our case he and truman know which bottle we want! This is a must to eat at while you're in Las Vegas.

First time visiting the Las Vegas location, and it was a great experience! We sat at the bar for dinner, and the bartenders were amazing. Service was fast, they were very attentive, and they always seemed to be keeping an eye on every guest. It honestly felt like the level of service you get in Japan. The food was delicious across the board. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the squid sashimi--it seemed a bit dry, maybe because it's out of season. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back next time we're in Las Vegas! 2026/Jul 3 6:30pm

The Zen cocktail. Guava, Gin and St Germain! So good
    Graciela C.

I just had to visit Morimoto as an iron chef fan. Not only that but the place is so striking it draws you in. We sat at the bar and opted for a drink and dessert because it's Vegas! I was intrigued by the Zen cocktail as it was guava based and also had gin and St. Germain. Can I say it was just a work of art. Perfect balance of foam, sweetness from the guava, tartiness from the lemon and Roku gin. Every sip was superb. Above all that the cocktail was simply gorgeous. To further treat myself this lovely evening, the Bento Box was such a fun dessert, drawing eyes from across the bar. Another treat for all the senses with the unique desserts. I personally loved the lemon meringue, pistachio cream puff and coconut pannacotta with mango. Highlight of the night was the cocktail. Kudos to our bartender for being so attentive as well.

we went here for my friend's birthday! the food was really good! i'm not satisfied with the price. i think the total for these three items was like $246, but this is a luxury dining experience, so i feel like i can't dock stars just because i don't like the price. i'm sure anyone looking to go here knows it will be expensive, but i am reiterating, it is expensive! we got the rock shrimp tempura as an appetizer! i liked the middle shrimp with the orange sauce better than the green/yellow sauce (i forget which one is which), and they came with ranch, which i enjoyed! neither of them were spicy. we also got a pork on rice bowl where the chef assembles it at your table! it isn't a big spectacle or anything. the bowl comes out and it's like 400°, though so don't touch it. it was so yum! the main attraction was the sushi platter, which we got to share as a group of 4. upon first look, it didn't seem like there would be enough food, but we all had as much food as we liked and walked away nearly full. $170 for that platter, though. i forget all the fish we had. i know there was eel, mackerel, shrimp, tuna, yellowtail, and salmon, but i don't remember everything. i'm a salmon lover, and i enjoyed the salmon nigiri. the ginger was kind of dry (?) usually the ginger i have has a little liquid on it. just surprised me a little. the servers were very attentive, always coming along with water refills. we had little appetizer plates, and they came along and switched out our plates and gave us new ones when we were done with them. perks of an expensive restaurant! it was dim in there. allegedly, they have a dress code of no sleeveless tops, but i wore a tank top in and was fine. we did go as soon as they opened, though. they also only have a single use bathroom, which was kind of surprising to me. overall, i loved that i had the opportunity to eat here! i'm also glad i didn't pay the bill (my friend's mom paid, shoutout her!) expensive places aren't really my scene, so i probably wouldn't go back here! but that's just me. i had tons of fun, though!

3.5 rounded up to a 4... I came here with a party of 6 and we were greeted nicely by the hostess. The resturant was really pretty inside. It was an intimate feeling with its dim lighting. Our waiter also was knowledgeable as he was explaining the menu and his recommendations. However the service did get a bit slow. We asked for extra bowls for our second order of soup and never got it. We also ordered a sushi roll that didn't come out till the very end but we were waiting awhile before it came out. Food overall was okay. Brussel sprouts 7/10: pretty good. Not burnt but I think might be lacking some sweetness? Def has the crispiness I was searching for. Beef carpaccio 7/10: the beef didn't taste like Wagyu. It was more like pho beef if yall know what I'm talking about. It wasn't chewy and the flavor was pretty fresh. Sea bass 7/10: I always enjoy sea bass and this one was pretty solid. The fish is not as buttery as I would have liked it but it does have the flakiness. The flavor was okay, I felt like a bit more sauce or seasoning would've been better. Kimchi fried rice 5/10: this dish was pretty mid. Nothing special. Laksa noodle soup 7/10: flavorful but the soup was really thick and coco nutty if you enjoy that. The noodles was ur standard ramen noodles. It does have some bits of ground meat. Yellowtail fried rice in the stone pot (I forgot the actual name of the dish) 3/10: apparently this was the dish that allows the chef to win iron chef. It was prepared tableside but I did not get the hype. It was lacking flavor so I added more of the sauce which I felt like it was just soy sauce. It lacked any umami that I was searching for. The fish wasn't fishy but I just felt like it didn't go well with the dish. ny steak with added truffle butter 9/10: this was probably the highlight of the meal. PSA: they overcook the meat so I would go one level rawer than what you want. I ordered ours medium rare and it came out as medium which was my preference anyways. Land and sea roll 6/10: this dish came in a smoke box for presentation which was cool. However because of that, the dish tasted too Smokey for me. The wagyu on top of the roll didn't have that melt in your mouth feel. The Ebi shrimp was pretty fresh. But for 60 dollars I'm not sure if it's worth it. Overall I feel like this place is pretty standard for pricing and food. I think we spent around 500 bucks for 6 people. A bit underwhelming but maybe bc I had higher expectations.

Does the dinner menu have wagyu beef on a hot stone?

No it was on skillet and the meat isn't the Wagyu grade I expected. Not worth the prize.

What options do you have for children?

Many things children can eat there, they have California rolls and avocado rolls and salmon rolls also calamari salad which is full of fried calamari's very good. They also have different steaks expensive but definitely good for children.

    Are kids allowed?

Yeah they are :-) just be mindful because it's pretty expensive there

Does it have teppanyaki on Tue, Wed or Thur?

Teppanyaki is now available 7 days a week

Is this one of the restaurants where guests are able to charge the bill to their MGM resorts room?

Yes! We are a proud member of the MGM Resorts family and accept room charges from any of your favorite Las Vegas properties.

I have a reservation for 2145, but the hours are until 2200. Will they honor our reservation and let us order full menu coming in 15 minutes before close?? We have a show that gets out at 2130 inside MGM and planned to walk to reservation after.

I would imagine they wouldn't allow the reservation if they weren't planning to offer you a full menu.

Can I wear short, shoes and shirt?

Yes, they will not turn you away, although you might feel out of place.

Have a reservation for Father's Day, but would a 9 yr old be welcome for an early seating?

Yes. Shouldn't be a problem as long as they aren't disruptive

I just made a reservation. But Yelp is saying it's only open for take out. Is the restaurant open?

Hi Colleen, The restaurant is currently open Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-10pm. We offer both…

Has the restaurant posted a re-opening date yet?

As of mid-May 2021, the restaurant is open for dine-in and takeout from 5PM -10PM Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun. The restaurant is closed Tues and Wed.

Do they have an omakase and how much they cost?

Yes, we do have an Omakase. The price of the Omakase is $140 per person.

Does he use real crab in his California rolls?

    Yes

Can anyone confirm if they have a dress code? it says casual here on yelp but Open Table says business casual.

It is casual. They do ask no ripped jeans or ripped shorts. Absolutely no beach wear.

How expensive is it? I would prefer to have a good idea before booking a table.

Most of those at our table ordered an entree between $20-40. We however did the taste of the chef special 7-course which was around $90 a person. Hope this helps.

How many pieces of sushi come in one order? Like for example, how many would you get if you ordered a California or eel roll?

    Depends on the item ordered.

    What's is the opening hours?

I believe 5 I tried making reservations but couldn't. Decided to take my chances at the bar right at 5 and it worked out great for my wife and I! Everything was fantastic!

    All you can eat?

no, everything is to order keep in mind when ordering nigiri pieces its only one per order

What does their tasting menu consist of?

We had Omakase about a month ago, and it was same as some other reviews from several months ago. Tuna tartare, Wagyu carpacho, cheese fondu with seafood and noodles, sushi pieces, surf and turf, and flaming chocolate dessert.

Do they have teppanyaki like the previous restaurant used to have?

Yes they do, there is the restaurant side and the Teppanyaki side, or at least when I was there they had it.

We put in our order - one pork ramen, one mushroom ramen, and one kids meal + pork belly buns as a starter. One ramen and the kids ramen arrived together. The 2nd ramen arrived 15 minutes after that. They forgot our pork belly buns completely. Despite the large number of staff to customers ratio... it took over 10 minutes to flag down anyone for a fork for a small kid. Our server did not check on us. Her colleagues dropped off the food. When we reminded her that the order never arrived she sounded apologetic. They took off the item + actually packed the pork belly buns in a Togo box. The food overall is good! But for the price (I am from the bay area so I understand how much VCOL should cost). But this was about 25% too high. Someone needs to look hard at the level of service. Because the lady right next to me had her order screwed up and they left items off the menu too.
