Been craving sushi and Japanese flavors, my friends and I happened to walk by Morimoto and knew this would be our dinner some point during our trip. Located in the MGM "walk" it's an intimate restaurant with an extensive menu. It is large enough portions to be shared family style. I had been here before so I was excited to come back. We wanted everything but finally decided on a variety of things. Seasonal salad was one of my favorite dishes. The beets with the miso vinaigrette started the meal off right. For sushi, we ordered salmon avocado roll, tiger roll, and oh Toro. Kimchi fried rice and beef short ribs were another hit! The short rib was huge and full of flavor. The miso reduction (see a theme) made it extra rich. The kimchi fried rice was a great side that I wanted more of. I got the emerald dragon cocktail which was served smoking in a tea pot. I got about 2.5 drinks out of it. It was sweet but not too much. It was a lovely presentation. The service was great. She made sure we always had everything we needed and the timing of the dishes were in sync. Can't wait to visit again. read more

Beautiful, funky, restaurant but an adventure to find it at the MGM Grand. If you haven't been before, give yourself plenty of time to find it! Service was magnificent! The sommelier even brought over our drinks and engaged with our table - nice touch. We tried the summer menu - $79 for four courses - excellent value for the quality of the food. My friend and I tried different dishes (besides the sushi roll) and tried each others dishes. Course 1: tuna pizza and wagyu carpaccio. The pizza was delicate and crispy with mild flavor. The carpaccio had a great burst of flavor while the beef was tender. The carpaccio was the favorite of the two. Course 2: beef short rib and broiled sea bass. Her short rib was tender, savory, and delicious. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and fantastic! Loved both! Course 3: California roll - we both chose this one (not salmon fans typically). Morimoto has elevated the California roll - great! Course 4: ice cream trio (I passed on this one because we ordered an extra sushi roll and nagiri). Extra: Tiger Roll and Chu- toro and Maguro nagiri. Wow, that Chu- toro was an unctuous bite, rich, fatty, fresh, perfection. Maguro was just as fresh, and a great bite as well. Morimoto is phenomenal. It is located inside the MGM Grand and will provide you with such a special dining experience. It will be one you won't soon forget. The Somalia and Server made sure every detail of our dinner was taken care of. We met with some clients of my husband's, so I wanted this meal to be grand. We received amazing help choosing the right wine. They have an extensive list, so the advice was extremely helpful. The dinner menu is no less extensive so when we were able to provide our server with a price per person, he was able to curate the perfect meal and hit every choice with amazing accuracy to what we would like. We had one person in our party who was not fond of sushi and he still had an amazing meal and enjoyed the restaurant. The area being within a casino's shopping space can make it a little unpredictable for noise level. We have eaten here before and had no issues. This night the nearby bar had very loud live music. You may want to keep that in mind if you require a quieter atmosphere. There are tables placed deeper within the space and that may be requested. I highly recommend making reservations. read more

I gotta say....i was surprisingly disappointed with my first experience at Morimoto. First - let's talk about the service. Our server was nice and he recommended a solid sake but the timing of our food and drinks was definitely not on par with other fine dining experiences in Vegas. The appetizers showed up at our table so fast that I actually thought they'd made an extra and had it at the ready before we ordered. Food hit the table at the same time as the drinks (not ideal) and they served the sushi, along with the sake), before we were done with the appetizer and only about a third of the way through the drinks. The tuna pizza was excellent - the hits of salt from the olives really completed each bite. The lobster in the lobster Bao was perfect, but the bao dough was just alright. (I could name 3 places on Spring Mountain that surpass it.) The sushi combination was very good but they slipped in a cooked shrimp nigiri and an eel nigiri, which is pretty bush league for a $170 sushi plate. Overall, I was happy with the meal, but considering the location and pricing, it didn't meet the correlating expectations. read more

Usually when in Vegas, sushi is the last meal on my mind and I'm usually searching for the best seafood buffets or an amazing steak. However, that has changed, thanks to Morimoto which is located in the MGM hotel. While staying here, I saw people waiting in line for this place to open and wait times were pretty long, so since it was just me, I decided to ask someone at the bar if they were leaving and luckily I caught someone on his way out. The restaurant is beautiful and is the home to Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. I wish I would have sat in the dinning area because it looks amazing. However, I was just happy to be there and the bartender was super helpful and amazing. She was quick to take my drink and food order, while cracking small jokes making my time there enjoyable. As for the food, I decided to go with the chefs choice sushi special which is an assortment of sushi rolls, a rainbow roll which isn't on the menu and an White Lily cocktail. The sushi was so good and fresh and the drink was super solid. I haven't had a lot of sushi in Vegas but this is already my favorite sushi spot lol. I will say, that it is pretty pricey so be prepared. Besides that, if I'm close or staying at the MGM, I'll be back. I went down the list, and Ken let us know we had a lot of food, and shaved a couple things from my list. Decided to try this restaurant for first time on a Saturday night reservation. We waited few minutes before being seated. As soon as you walk in, the restaurant consist of dim ambience and open seating throughout. We were also attended to immediately. For appetizers, we order the pork gyoza and kakuni (pork belly) bao bun. Both were delicious, nicely seasoned and crispy. I'd definitely order again. For the entrees we ordered the ishi yaki chashu bop (pork on rice). There was a presentation of mixing the components of the dish in front of you. Overall, it was good, the rice towards the bottom of the dish was hard and overcooked but the pork was tender and seasoned well. We ordered two specialty rolls: the dragon and soft shell crab roll. Both were good, nothing too special. I'd say the restaurant was a 4/5 experience overall from good service to delightful dishes. Overall, I really liked Morimoto and would recommend it as one of the places worth trying in Las Vegas. The food was very good, and the overall dining experience was enjoyable. However, the reservation experience was extremely disappointing. Even with a reservation, we had to wait about 30 minutes before being seated. Guests are expected to respect their reservation time, and I believe a restaurant should show the same respect for its guests' time. A short delay is understandable, especially at a busy restaurant, but a 30-minute wait after a confirmed reservation makes you feel like your time simply isn't valued. I would recommend Morimoto for the food, but when it comes to this aspect of customer service, there is definitely significant room for improvement. I just had to visit Morimoto as an iron chef fan. Not only that but the place is so striking it draws you in. We sat at the bar and opted for a drink and dessert because it's Vegas! I was intrigued by the Zen cocktail as it was guava based and also had gin and St. Germain. Can I say it was just a work of art. Perfect balance of foam, sweetness from the guava, tartiness from the lemon and Roku gin. Every sip was superb. Above all that the cocktail was simply gorgeous. To further treat myself this lovely evening, the Bento Box was such a fun dessert, drawing eyes from across the bar. Another treat for all the senses with the unique desserts. Had the Emerald Dragon which is a fruity drink but definitely a creeper. It gave me a nice buzz. And the food, sooooo good. Limited menu but the flavors were so good. This was a splurge while on vacation in Vegas. This very high end dining located in the MGM Grand was very elegantly decorated. Service was impeccable from the front staff to the wait staff with them discretely monitoring your water levels and removing empty plates. We ordered two appetizers the wagyu beef carpaccio and sticky ribs. They both were small delicate dishes and beautifully presented. The beef was soft and melted in my mouth. The sticky ribs was tender and flavorful. I got the chef's sushi platter and my husband got the wagyu rib eye steak. The sushi was as good as you would think it is. The fish was fresh and the texture of the rice was perfect. My husband said the steak was the best he's ever had. I tried a little of it and it was tender full of beef flavor. Yellowtail fried rice in the stone pot (I forgot the actual name of the dish) 3/10: apparently this was the dish that allows the chef to win iron chef. It was prepared tableside but I did not get the hype. It was lacking flavor so I added more of the sauce which I felt like it was just soy sauce. It lacked any umami that I was searching for. The fish wasn't fishy but I just felt like it didn't go well with the dish. ny steak with added truffle butter 9/10: this was probably the highlight of the meal. PSA: they overcook the meat so I would go one level rawer than what you want. I ordered ours medium rare and it came out as medium which was my preference anyways. Land and sea roll 6/10: this dish came in a smoke box for presentation which was cool. However because of that, the dish tasted too Smokey for me. The wagyu on top of the roll didn't have that melt in your mouth feel. The Ebi shrimp was pretty fresh. But for 60 dollars I'm not sure if it's worth it. The service is sharp, and the ambiance is exactly what you want for a Vegas night out--chic, trendy, and high-energy. If you're looking for high-end sushi innovation, this wasn't quite it. * Ishi Yaki Buri Bap: This is the move. It's prepped tableside in a hot stone bowl--super fun to watch and the fish was incredibly fresh. Pickled eggplants and pickled root vegetables nigiri are everyone favorite. I like to watch them cook my yellowtail on the table and mix egg yolk to the rice. we went here for my friend's birthday! the food was really good! i'm not satisfied with the price. i think the total for these three items was like $246, but this is a luxury dining experience, so i feel like i can't dock stars just because i don't like the price. i'm sure anyone looking to go here knows it will be expensive, but i am reiterating, it is expensive! we got the rock shrimp tempura as an appetizer! i liked the middle shrimp with the orange sauce better than the green/yellow sauce (i forget which one is which), and they came with ranch, which i enjoyed! neither of them were spicy. we also got a pork on rice bowl where the chef assembles it at your table! it isn't a big spectacle or anything. the bowl comes out and it's like 400°, though so don't touch it. it was so yum! the main attraction was the sushi platter, which we got to share as a group of 4. upon first look, it didn't seem like there would be enough food, but we all had as much food as we liked and walked away nearly full. $170 for that platter, though. i forget all the fish we had. i know there was eel, mackerel, shrimp, tuna, yellowtail, and salmon, but i don't remember everything. i'm a salmon lover, and i enjoyed the salmon nigiri. the ginger was kind of dry (?) usually the ginger i have has a little liquid on it. just surprised me a little. the servers were very attentive, always coming along with water refills. we had little appetizer plates, and they came along and switched out our plates and gave us new ones when we were done with them. perks of an expensive restaurant! it was dim in there. allegedly, they have a dress code of no sleeveless tops, but i wore a tank top in and was fine. we did go as soon as they opened, though. they also only have a single use bathroom, which was kind of surprising to me. overall, i loved that i had the opportunity to eat here! i'm also glad i didn't pay the bill (my friend's mom paid, shoutout her!) expensive places aren't really my scene, so i probably wouldn't go back here! but that's just me. i had tons of fun, though! read more

One of the advantages of staying at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is, that (if you can stand the permeating smoke), it has a very good selection of restaurants. One of these is Morimoto, which recently opened after a renovation (inside and the menu). I came here for dinner (only open 5-10 pm), before the Brad Garretts's comedy club show. While the inside is redesigned, I would say it is just okay, the former black and white backdrop behind the Sushi Bar, was more eye catching. As for the new seating, to put it bluntly, and lack of a better word, horrible. I transmitted to management. But I really came here to taste the new menu. I ordered two appetizer items. The first, the Lobster Bao, followed by the Chicken Karagee. Both were superb. The first, a new dish on the menu, flavorful, mildly dressed, to highlight the lobster. Yes, it was succulent. The fried chicken was also fantastic. Cooked just right, the optimum balance of crispiness on the outside, no overload (like KFC, Lol), and satisfying moisture on the inside. It was a very generous portion. And it filled me up. I generally don't eat at the same place twice. I broke this rule and came back for dinner on another night and had rheir Laksa soup. It was another winner. All the ingredients married well. The soft boiled egg, with its bright orange yolk stood out. What made the evening for me was that I happened to be seated in a section that was serviced by Matthew T. And this was true the last time too...I was here (before renovation). Once again, Matthew T., delivered exceptional service (that included complimentary sake). It was mutual recognition, high class customer service. It is such a pleasure to come back to a favorite restaurant, meet the amazing server, who makes you feel so comfortable and welcome. Like coming back home. Drinks: Geisha Secret: 9/10 - really is a secret...not even on the menu, and I didn't even capture a photo...Essentially their take on a lychee martini Food: Pan Fried Pork Gyoza: 9/10 - one of the best I've had, very fresh & delicious filling, while not being over-fried or greasy. Pork Sticky Ribs: 9/10 - DELICIOUS...Idk what else to say, they were cooked perfectly and the sauce was tangy, sweet, and the perfect sweet chili blend. Miso Soup: 8/10 - yeah, it's miso soup, but it was good though. Not too watery and I know the tofu wasn't sitting all day. Edamame: 8.5/10 - Delicious & salted perfectly, served warm which is a preference of mine. They have a sushi bar and kitchen working non-stop. The space itself is huge with lots of tables and nicely decorated albeit a bit loud. We ordered the lobster bao buns, soft shell crab roll, salmon avocado roll, hamachi tacos, spicy tuna tacos for starters, sides of the shishito peppers, kimchi fried rice and I had the roasted salmon as my entree. The appetizers were a bit boring to be honest, good but not different from anywhere else. While we enjoyed them, I don't know that I would feel the need to order any of them again. The shishito peppers and kimchi fried rice were tasty and the salmon was absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly with crispy skin on top and tons of flavor. The sauce it was served with paired was delectable. I would 100% recommend the salmon and others enjoyed the braised black cod and yellow tail bowl (ishi yaki buri bop). My mom and I came here and split the hamachi tacos & potstickers for appetizers. I had the Chilean sea bass which was really light and flavorful. My mom ordered the black cod which was more soy sauce/ teriyaki flavor which ended up being a little bit too rich and salty for her. We both got the asian pear martini's which was really good! Today was their grand reopening, so go check it out! Really enjoyed our quick meal at Morimoto before the games tonight. Service was excellent and all the food was high quality and well-prepared. The only thing that I was not impressed with was the lack of any chef's touches on the oh-toro and amberjack sushi pieces. I get showcasing the fish, but it doesn't take much to enhance the flavor of the showcased fish. The fish was still good due to the quality. We had and enjoyed all of the following: edamame, whitefish carpaccio, tuna pizza, California roll, kani sushi, hamachi tacos. Hamachi tacos and Cali roll were the standouts of that group for me. The soufflé cheesecake was ridiculously good! I like the remodel, especially the new logo outside and sushi bar art. It's classy but not stuffy, which meant we could go in T-shirts on our way to the game. Loved it! read more

Morimoto Las Vegas, located inside the MGM Hotel on the southern end of the Strip (south of Planet Hollywood and across from New York-New York), has always held a special place in my memory. My first visit was almost ten years ago, and it was unforgettable in the best way. So when we planned a Thanksgiving-week trip, I called weeks in advance to book a reservation--only to find the restaurant closed for renovations. To my surprise and delight, it reopened just days after we arrived in Vegas. Perfect timing! We were able to snag a reservation for our large party of nine, and from the moment we sat down, it felt like the Morimoto experience I remembered. I was starving after a long day of travel and, honestly, the place is a bit too upscale for me to be snapping hundreds of food photos--so apologies in advance for the lack of photos. Food: Overall, the food was spectacular. Exactly what you'd expect from Morimoto. Karaage: Good, but not the best. (I actually think Jinya Ramen's karaage edges it out.) Black Braised Cod: Absolutely phenomenal. This is a must-have dish. Yellowtail Salad & Yellowtail Roll: Mind-blowingly good. I think yellowtail may officially be my new favorite raw fish now. More to come on yellowtail. Laksa Noodles: I had sky-high hopes because it was perfection on my first visit years ago. This time, it was very good--just not the life-changing dish I remembered. Maybe my standards are too high? Tempura Calamari Salad: Delicious and well executed. Yellowtail Fried Rice (buri bop in Stone Pot): The star of the night! If you try one thing here, make it this. Then come back the next day and get it again. Insanely good. Everyone at my table was raving about it. Dessert: I normally skip desserts at fancy restaurants because I'm either full or financially defeated by that point, but we made exceptions and were glad we did. Soufflé Cheesecake: Light, fluffy, and delicate. If dense New York-style cheesecake isn't your thing, this will be. Fiery Chocolate Tart: Worth it for both the taste and the 15 seconds of tableside entertainment. The chocolate melts dramatically to reveal an incredibly rich center. Service: Our server was excellent--warm, knowledgeable, and professional without being over-the-top. I don't recall her name, but I'm fairly sure she was Korean (she gave me Esther Choi from Food Network vibes). She handled our large table flawlessly and made the experience even better. Ambiance: Upscale but welcoming, and perfect for a special night out. Definitely not too loud so easy to have a conversation. Final Thoughts: If you're in Las Vegas and craving top-tier Japanese cuisine, Morimoto is absolutely worth a visit--just be prepared for the bill. This is not a budget-friendly meal by any stretch, so make sure your credit card limit is ready for the challenge! Would I go again for a third time? Absolutely without a doubt.
