The glorious Double Down Saloon. In the modern era of glitzy, flashy, and ultra processed Vegas, the DD will provide you with an absolute respite from all of that the moment you walk in the door. This is a glorious punk-oriented dive bar. That should be real clear from the distance you have to travel into a very undescript section of Vegas to get to it. On the outside, everything should already be screaming YES to you if you have a taste for great bars like these. For example, the first time I ever visited, on top of the marquee bill was Jello Biafra. Yeah it's like that. The music, the vibe, the crud - it's all on point. The cocktails are colorfully named and presented (I'm sure plenty of reviews will highlight the toilet shot) but I'd say they're kind of the weakest part of this joint. Just stick to straight booze, rejoice that you're not surrounded by as loud AF bachelorette party on a casino floor, and get hammered in the "Happiest Place on Earth'. read more

Fantastic grungy dive bar in Las Vegas! I honestly can't believe it's taken us so long to check this venue out, especially since concerts are always free here. Our favorite punk band, The Mormons, happened to be playing here which is what drew us in. Loved the atmosphere with dollar bills and some R rated photo strips hanging around the bar area along with various stickers & graffiti filling the rest of the space. Truly feels like a quintessential Vegas dive bar. Bartenders weren't overly friendly, just there to do their job, but they served beers / cocktails quickly. We had a few PBR's which were $5 each. Fellow patrons were really friendly. I even made a friend during the show! For anyone with sensitive ears, the speakers are LOUD, so be sure to bring your ear protection. I loved the loud music, but my husband was suffering a bit. As per a usual dive bar, it is also smoky inside. If cigarette smoke bothers you, snag a spot near the entrance since they leave the door open for fresh air. This was everything I expected from a dive bar with a small stage for cool bands. Many years ago, I graduated from UNLV and recently my wife and I went back to Vegas to a birthday party. My college friend invited me to go to a Rebels basketball game. After the game, he said that he was going to take me to an off the Strip dive bar. This place caters primarily for locals in particularly casino workers. We sat at the bar as my friend wanted to play video poker. I don't gamble but he insisted and put money in my machine. It was entertaining. They had a live rock band and the music is loud. It is the ultimate dive bar with inexpensive drinks, a funky atmosphere, very dark with signs and stickers on the walls. One thing I didn't like was that smoking is allowed, but as a former smoker I can tolerate to a point. I have recommended the place to people visiting Vegas! read more

This place is awesome, there's so much to see and take pictures of. Every inch of that place was covered in stickers it was awesome. It's like punk rock heaven for a punk rockers. The parking lot is a little small, but we took an Uber there so we did not have to worry about that. The place is not huge inside but they have a bar and places to sit with tables around. They also have a juke box which was amazing, and a vending machine, awesome touch. The bathrooms are amazing to look at you. There's so much to see inside there. It's not the cleanest place but what do you expect for a punk rock bar? It's for music and drinking and having a great time with awesome people and friends. We got invited and wanted to support our friends play and watch all the bands play. 4 bands were playing Raptors, Hardship anchors Vegas villains and The Gringos which our friend was playing in so we came to support everyone. Our friend has a recording studio called Straightjacket studios, he recorded the album for the Raptors plus many other bands, and his other friend we met we had dinner with was in Vegas Villains they were awesome. Gringos did an incredible job they were last of the night the show didn't end till after 2am. Everyone did a badass job we had so much fun! Love seeing local bands and just any kind of live music, always soothes the soul. I was so exhausted and in pain from the quick and long drive up but I didn't care was worth it all. All the employees are really nice here too. We got our drinks quickly and they were pretty strong. I was happy to be able to sit down and watch the show, hung out with everybody and had a great time. Thank you to my best friend and her husband and everybody in the band for showing us a great time for playing an amazing show. This place is awesome. I love the name. This is the quintessential punk rock dive bar. My friend and I stopped in after a high school graduation and it was almost empty. We had a great time talking with the terrific bartender and the "Ass Juice" shots were surprisingly delicious. A must visit for a real Las Vegas experience. read more

My friend had found this bar somewhere on the internet & wanted to check it out. I was a little hesitant after checking out the pictures on Yelp but I'm always game for checking out new spots (to me) in Vegas. We had gone to a show @ the Virgin hotel this past Sunday afternoon & had decided to head over here after. Its funny because I have been to another business right across the street & can't say I remember seeing this bar when I was there. I already kinda knew what to expect prior to entering as I had seen the pictures & read some reviews on Yelp. Placed looked like the pictures. We sat @ the bar & was greeted right away by the bartender Samson and he took our drink orders & I had asked him if I could get a player's card. He wasn't able to get me one on his 1st try some computer issues but then had checked the system & grabbed my ID again and gave me a card. We gambled a little bit & had a couple of drinks. I had asked what was in the ass juice but it was a secret & he wouldn't tell me...lol So that was a No for us, though the toilet bowls its served in is sooo cute. $20 if you want to purchase one. There was a pool table & a photo booth. Photos cost $5.00. I LOVE photo booths & totally forget to get some pics before I left. They have a little vending machine with some snacks in it. Thank God I didn't have to use the bathroom because I was too scared to go in there & touch anything yet alone sit on the toilet seat, which I wouldn't have after seeing the pics...lol I don't know how this place isn't a big infection risks due to all the stickers & I'm guessing all the little germs that can/may crawl under the edges but I'm guessing the state allows this. There were a lot of money bills hanging from the ceiling above the bar that had been written all over & I did notice off to the side there was 4 poker machines all together which seemed like a cool area, one of them wasn't working. There wasn't many customers in there. We were probably there around 7pm on a Sunday night. I'd definitely stop in here again if friend's wanted to check it out or if I was in the area. Fun bar with a lot of cheap drinks. It may be in kind of a sketchy location, but that helps make it cool to be honest. Double Down Saloon isn't a country bar. More like punk and metal to be like it. They also play cool music videos. Avoided this place for a long time because I thought it was a country bar. It's actually not of course. This is pretty close to UNLV. Lots of craziness. The best thing is the prices. It's about $5 for cocktails. There's a shit ton of whiskey. Hip atmosphere. There's screens up all over the place and they play funny music videos like Cheech and Chong and that kind of stuff. Cheap drinks and loud music. It's a pretty good description of it for sure. A dive bar in every sense of the word. (That's a good thing) HOWEVER - We were walking in last night and I twisted my ankle and fell hard. The bouncer guy that was asking for ID saw me fall.Didn't ask if I was OK didn't help in anyway. Wow. I looked at the rug in the entryway and there was nothing that indicated that I should've tripped or twisted my ankle. So I walked back over there, stepped in the same spot and found that the rug was completely covering up a hole in the floor. To anyone wearing flat shoes it probably wouldn't be a big deal, but I was wearing heels. I'm writing this the next morning and I'm in a lot of pain. When I landed, I hurt my wrist, scraped my elbow, landed on the left side of my hip... and my neck and shoulders were jolted in the fall and are hurting and sore today. I had a horrible night sleep because every time I tried to move, my hip hurt and today it hurts even when I'm not moving, but especially with every step I take. Filling that hole should take almost 0 effort; it's something I could do as someone without any trade experience. Leaving the hole and covering it with a rug is beyond irresponsible and is a LAWSUIT waiting to happen! read more

If you want a true DIVE bar, this is it. Bathrooms are something to avoid but worth a picture lol! They have live bands and DJs on some nights, it is very dark and smokey inside, and parking is ample. Decent price drinks and shots too. Bartender is somewhat grumpy but that's part of the scene here. read more

I have been traveling to Vegas for over 25 years.... it is the one place I continually go and fine new and interesting things to do. One thing that has been a "staple" if you will is the DoubleDown Saloon! "The happiest place on earth" as they call it. Yeah a dive bar through and through.... grungy, dark, dank maybe even a bit scary if you really look at it. But honestly you are doing yourself an injustice if you don't give it a try. This is probably the most non-pretentious place I have ever been in. Everyone is welcome and no one judges. You are there for a reason... to have a drink or two, or three.... or more! Their tag line says it all "SHUT UP AND DRINK!" So put your on your jeans, your shorts, you suit, your whatever and go. Belly up to the bar and decide what you want, they have most everything, bacon martini..... they claim to the the home of it.... yes I have tried it, but actually, go for the house drink... ASS Juice (AJ)! Yes, not the most delectable name, but it is really good! Don't ask for the recipe because it's a secret and all the bartenders have their own twist. Go at the right time of the day and get an AJ and PBR special! Plan on hitting it really hard while you are there... well, buy the puke insurance for $20! One time I had this friend with a super annoying girlfriend. She wanted to go clubbing and I convinced him and her to join me at the double down first. She walked in wearing a red sequined club dress and it's a top 5 funniest thing I've ever seen. I started going to the Double Down circa 2006 after I saw Anthony Bourdain pay it a visit. In the following eighteen years, I've yet to have anything but a complete blast in the place. It's dark. It's smoky. There's video poker. All the music in the juke box is carefully curated punk. It's open twenty four hours. Patrons can purchase a certain insurance (if you know, you know). What could there possibly be here that wouldn't make a person happy? I have lived in the central time zone for the past twenty years, so I only make it out to Vegas about twice a year or so, so can't say I'm a regular at the place. My usual flight into Vegas generally lands at seven o'clock in the morning, and for many years, the Double Down has been my first stop immediately after getting out of the airport. Even at that hour, you're likely to find a story to tell. I even took my daughter here when she graduated from college, and she loved the place! Then she took a couple of her friends after I had left town! The Double Down is now a family tradition! As virtually everything else in Vegas gets worse and worse and exorbitantly more expensive, I've still got the oasis of everything good and exactly what a darkened room serving booze with a side of good-natured attitude should be! This place is kick ass. We hadn't been in for years, but stopped by this past weekend. Things were a bit different but mostly the same! If you've read my other reviews, you might know that I love dive bars. I will take a dive bar over a fancy ass high-end bar any day. Double Down is one of the best, darkest, dankest dive bars you can find anywhere, yet it is still welcoming, with friendly bartenders, and people of every age and nationality. You can still order the ass juice, with or without the toilet bowl shot glass. They don't offer twinkies with the shots anymore. You can also brave the bacon martini, but..... why? We came in the afternoon and met a great couple and some other customers who were just hanging out. An old black bluesman came in about 30 mins. after we arrived and proceeded to play some amazing downhome blues that we're so beautiful, my girlfriend and I had tears in our eyes. That's no joke. We got ourselves nice and buzzed, played video poker and had the best time! If you love dive bars, excellent bands, cold beer and fun, get here! read more

Where do I start? Been coming here for the past 15yrs every-time I travel to Las Vegas and something bizarre/strange/wonderful happens here, every... single... time. There's a guy passed out on the bar. This lady is soliciting me for prostitution. Why is that person humping the ATM machine? This place is the true definition of "dive bar". The stench of stale cigarettes, cheap drinks, friendly bartenders, and a bathroom that looks like the devil himself would be afraid to enter. The best part is both the customers and the vibe. With the ominous feeling of dread and despair surrounding you, one can only drink a cheap cocktail, smile nervously and listen to the screeching sound of live/local bands, and ultimately release to the fact that you are in a very special place. This is the quintessential dive bar, complete with a single toilet each for men and woman. The gentleman bartender super friendly and attentive. Very reasonable drinks, wide variety of beers leaning toward the classic domestic fun beers and lots of mixed drinks. There is smoking and the bar chairs are mostly ripped up. The toilet for women is someplace you don't want to sit down on. BUT, the patrons and staff are cool and prices can't be beat. Love the loud enough mix of fun music played here. There is a jukebox and pool tables.This all rolls up to be a fun and genuine divey spot for locals. It is associated with Frankies and they use the same points card for their gambling bar top machines. Every night has live bands. How awesome is that! They have 2 entrances with their own parking lot, so if you miss driving in on one way, just go around and park in the other lot. read more

Went back another time, only because we wanted to see the band, with cash. Bartender was rude AF. $5.50 for a can of PBR, not exactly dive bar prices.
