Kao Lao Lao
Kristina L.

For years I would pass by this place but never took the leap to give it a try until now. Glad I did. Family friendly and can definitely come here for a date night. Service was amazing, our waiter was so nice and understanding with us bringing our toddlers. It was about a 30-40 min wait to get seated, so be prepared. Char siu for you: -I definitely liked the flavor of this dish and the picked veggies packed a bite while still being crunchy. -pitfall was they don't fall off the bone very well and I am a horrible at scraping meat off the bones La Mian Lo mien: -Flavor ! I usually don't like lo mein at traditional Chinese restaurants since IMO lacks flavor and doesn't soak up sauce as well as other types of noodles, but boy these were different and packed with flavor. The noodle texture was also different as to why it probably picked up flavor better. They weren't too thick which is where I feel lo mien doesn't hit well cause you taste mostly starch, but these were softer and slightly thinner so likely why they were better. -totally worth it! Mongolian beef lettuce: -worth the flavor not worth the price for what you get which was basically nothing! Pretty much overpriced salad or rather lettuce. -super small portion of meat. I had saw picture on Yelp with mountains of meet and was expecting cubes, but was disappointed when we only got our dish and there were only like 5 pieces and they were flat slices. I ended up just giving it all to my kid and ate all the greens. My kid loved it. Kao Lao Lao: -Nothing I've ever had before -Tiger sauce reminds me of vinegar soup dumpling Chilli sauce: -this was amazing! Loved drenching everything with it! -they added black beans in it and it had so much texture. Overall: -initially wasn't expecting much from this place but so glad we decided to give this place a try -dishes tend to be on the saltier side but definitely super flavorful

Oxtail Noodle Soup
Tina B.

We absolutely loved it here! Beautiful decor and a really nice restaurant layout. Our server "ACE" was top-notch, extremely friendly and went above and beyond answering all of our questions and giving us the history of Salt Air Margarita! It was wonderful by the way! But our favorite on the menu was definitely the Oxtail Noodle Soup for $27.88 you get a very large bowl full of slow braised oxtail with Chinese spices, thick wheat noodles, bok choy, fried garlic!! It was AMAZING!! They have a great happy hour with some amazing drinks, however, the oxtail noodle soup was on the regular menu under "noodles". Thank you Ace for a great experience, Experience!

Take out feast for two (noodles and taco option) $55
Nina W.

We did the Takeout Feast for 2 and picked the noodles & taco option. It cost $55 and food was ready pretty fast. You go to the window to pick up but when we got there nobody was there. We waited a long time to get service. The dan Dan mian and 18 monk noodles are ok, it's a bit greasy and heavy. There wasn't a lot of noodles either. I liked the Dan Dan mian better than the 18 monk noodles. The tacos were better. I thought the flavors were pretty good. I would get the tacos again. The reason it's 3 stars is because of the service and the food taste is average. It is expensive but what do you expect, it's a restaurant in Cosmo.

We rolled into town on a Thursday and were able to grab a table in the afternoon easily without a reservation on a whim. Fun decor and cool concept. Try the tasting menu! I went for it and was so glad I did. Not only do you get to try several different dishes, it's also a good amount of food! Our server was great, super nice and took time to explain the menu and make recommendations. I really enjoyed the bites, I also appreciated that not everyone at the table had to pick the tasting menu as my partner wanted something else. I also tried their "smoky beginnings" flight and enjoyed it. I would definitely try out a few more cocktails or try one of the higher end flights next time. I'll be back!

This is a really beautiful place on the inside and the waiting area is where you have statues and steps and it's a creative way to have people wait. All the dishes and Pottery were beautiful to eat from. The staff were very attentive. They also had double wall glass for hot water, which was really nice to have so your hands don't get hot. I have to say that the service was amazing. Everybody helped with the dining experience.

Mango Sticky Rice
Mel R.

I was at the Cosmopolitan resort and I needed a little sweet treat so I stopped at China Poblano for a cloud in a bowl! Yes the mango sticky rice and I was so glad mangoes are in season! Super delicious. I was unhappy that there was only one bar open and it was very crowded so I had to squish in, but the people sitting at the bar, were friendly. I always come here for the terrific food, never the service! I really love eating here and I really enjoy the decor.

Unfortunately was not a fan of the food. Came during a staycation at cosmo. Missed the mark on authenticity. Didnt try the asian fusion dishes so cant speak to those items. Tuna tartar was forgettable. Included pecans which did not compliment the dish. Chips were not included. Birria taco and barbacoa were very average. The fish taco was the worst. Tasted super fishy/not fresh. The octopus taco was my favorite. I appreciate their tortillas are handmade but at the same time they were very delicate and fell apart. Also food wasnt very hot when it came out. I wish I had tried the other mexican restaurant which is next door.

Quesadilla de Chicharr-n ( with chicken instead)

First time coming to this Jose Andres cute fusion restaurant in the Cosmopolitan. Came for a fairly early dinner before show. Put our name in with the hostess and was told that we would have to wait 5 to 10 minutes, which seemed normal. While we were waiting inside, we noticed that there were a lot of empty tables and that other people were being seated as they were coming up to the hostess stand so we thought perhaps we got forgotten about. We did notice the hostesses and a manager walking around with iPads checking the availability of tables several times and then chatting in the corner prior to seating us. They finally sat us after hubby had to go remind them that we were here. Once we were seated, the service seemed a lot quicker, a lot friendlier and just initially a lot better. Unfortunately, because there was a FIFA World Cup game going on, the staff seemed to have their attention driven to the game versus inside the restaurant. Hubby had a quesadilla and I had spicy wonton dumplings we also shared chips and salsa - which is not free. I really wanted to love this place since I am a big fan of both cuisines. My dumplings were good but not great. I've definitely had better spicy wonton dumplings in any Chinatown. My husband's quesadilla - which they happily swapped out chicharron for Chicken- was beautiful to look at, but did not have much flavor. I would say if you want an average meal this is a good place to go since it's maybe a step above fast, casual and a step below fine dining. Their chips and salsa were definitely habit forming.

I do not understand the rating of 3.5 because the food here is EXCEPTIONAL. The vibe is immaculate. And the service is so friendly. I've never had quesabirrias as insane as the ones here. And the har gow. Holy s&$*t. This time around I had the young coconut ceviche. It's so light with excellent balance. So good. The salt air marg is so innovative and yummy. This is a must have any time im in Vegas

Pork buns and shu mai dumplings

We loved it! Food was soooooo good and we had a great evening here! We got some reservations beforehand which was probably a good idea. Yuri was our waitress and she was great! She explained everything well and she was very professional. Food was just top level amazing! The noodles to the queso and the buns....sooo delicious and full of flavor! Now not not everyone is going to like it. Some of them were pretty spicy. However my husband and I like spicy so we were in Flavortown! The spicy wontons were probably the spiciest so if you're against spice, I would definitely stay away from those. But they were also soooo delicious for us! The Dan Dan noodles were also really good. The queso was great but I think we've probably had slightly better. Great ambiance here so enjoy the portraits changing on one of the walls as well as the great mix of Chinese and Mexican ambience. Definitely would return!

Ive been here a fee years ago and came back to try it again. I love this place and the food is so delicious. If you are looking for a place to go to this is it. Make sure you make a reservation, this place gets busy. The restaurant is inside the Cosmo hotel. First time getting the oxtail and it exceeded my expectations. All there food is super yummy. This soup is on top of my list. I can eat it everyday. I would most definitely recommend this place for sure. I can't wait to go back. Service was excellent and the vibe is good. Easily to talk and its not loud inside at all but it gets busy. Make that reservation now.

Beautifully decorated room in the lively Cosmopolitan. Service was good, some staff a bit curt but everyone knew the menu well. We were seated at a six-person U-shaped table, which made it hard to converse across, but that was the only real gripe. The food was excellent. The salsa and guacamole were fresh and delicious. The taco de carnitas was one of the highlights of the night, tender and moist with a great chicharron topping. The shrimp in black garlic and chile sauce was an outstanding bite with deep, complex flavor. The Caesar salad with Spanish anchovies was divine. The coconut ceviche was another favorite and genuinely surprising. If you did not read the menu you would swear it was fish, with just a light coconut finish that perfectly balances the citrus. The only dish I was not as excited about was the twenty vegetable fried rice, as the raw greens on top threw off the texture. I would have preferred everything cooked through, though it was still good. Overall a fantastic tasting menu and a spot worth seeking out.

Camarones al Mojo de Ajo Negro
Jen-Ann L.

Honestly, the tasting menu is so worth it! I really enjoyed the variety of options and almost everything was executed really well. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant itself is quite crowded and busy but it is the mark of a good place. Modern decor with photos of Chinese and Mexican individuals changing occasionally. Offerings: - Chips and Salsa: both really good! There is a little something special on the chips, a spice of some sort. - chicken siu mai: this was good but definitely did not taste like a siu mai. Gave Jimmy Dean's sausage in a wonton wrapper, which is still tasty, but not authentic or even fusion. - tacos de carnitas: this really missed the mark for me. The meat was very dry and the toppings were not as flavorful as I would have liked. - camarones al mojo: officially, appealing dish, and the flavor was fine, if anything a little mild - Mango sticky rice: a really good dessert. Interestingly very light and a perfect palette cleanser - Cesar salad: pretty basic, served with avocado and a small piece of anchovy. Young coconut ceviche: a really excellent bite. Wish I could have more of this. Incredibly balanced and tasted amazing. Wok-roasted seasonal vegetable: we had green beans. It wasn't as good as din tai fung's but still very good. Nice cooking and seasonings. Perfectly salty and umami. Twenty vegetable fried rice: so so good. The star of the meal in my opinion. It was executed so well with some raw vegetables and some cooked. I was amazed at how something so simple could be executed so well and have so much flavor. - Kao Lao Lao: what an interesting dish. The oat flour was an interesting texture but the sauce and seasoning were perfectly savory and umami. I liked that the noodles came steamed vertically in a steamer - that made for a fun experience. For my gluten free friends, there is a good menu online for allergies, except it says Gluten for the legend when it should say Gluten-free. They do use a lot of soy sauce and a Chinese cooking wine that has gluten so a few dishes might not be acceptable.

The menu is very reasonably priced, with generous selections and excellent value. We ordered the crispy beef, and it was absolutely fantastic--crispy, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The hot and sour soup was beyond belief, packed with flavor and easily one of the highlights of our meal. We also shared the vegetable fried rice, which was amazing. My wife normally doesn't enjoy Chinese food nearly as much as I do, but even she couldn't stop raving about how delicious the fried rice was. That alone says a lot! Overall, we had a wonderful experience: excellent food, affordable prices, a great neighborhood Chinatown atmosphere, and fantastic service. For anyone in Las Vegas who loves great Chinese food, I would absolutely recommend giving China Mama a try before looking elsewhere. Thank you to the entire team. We will definitely be back!

He was defensive and passive-aggressive, with several clearly sarcastic/dismissive lines. To clarify, I ordered crispy beef and egg fried rice for pickup. I understand that fried food can lose its crispiness during takeout, which is why I didn't make a huge issue out of the beef being soggy. My bigger issue was the egg fried rice. What I received was essentially white rice with pieces of egg. When I mentioned that it looked and tasted nothing like the egg fried rice pictured on their online ordering site, the business manager responded that he wasn't sure what else they were supposed to put in egg fried rice besides "eggs and white rice." although the site clearly shows green onions. He also suggested that I order the house combo if I wanted more ingredients. That's not really the point--I ordered egg fried rice, not a house combo, and expected the item to resemble what was advertised. As for the soup, I understand that it is hot and sour soup, not sweet and sour soup. My review was about the fact that I personally found the taste unpleasant, not that I expected it to be sweet and sour. The response also suggested that my crispy beef became soggy because of the time between pickup and eating. However, I picked it up, drove approximately three minutes back to the hotel, and ate it immediately. I had also already waited past my original pickup time because the order was pushed back. I don't expect every restaurant to be perfect, and I understand that takeout food can differ from dining in. What bothered me more was the response to legitimate criticism. Rather than acknowledging the discrepancy between what was advertised and what I received.

The guy working was helpful and gave good info on the menu and ingredients they use in various dishes, which was great. We started with their garlic cucumbers and they were fantastic! Such great flavor, really fresh, and sooo tasty!! We then got their Sautéed cabbage with dry chili pepper - This dish was outstanding! Such great flavor and the cabbage leaves were so fresh. Highly recommend this one!! Lastly, I tried their Chicken with Red and Green Pepper, because our server said it was really spicy. It was definitely spicy, but lacked depth of flavor, which was disappointing, as I was undecided between this and their chili oil beef.... Guess I should've gotten the beef. I wish they would have had some cumin options, but not the toothpick cumin lamb, not sure what that's all about, because I don't want each bite to have to be slid off a toothpick. Overall - very nice Szechuan style food here... If you want a good, authentic Chinese experience, come here!
