This is our second experience dining at Casa Playa. We made a reservation and noted this dinner was for our anniversary. This was not acknowledged in any way. That was fine. We absolutely love the interior and atmosphere. The drinks are top notch and there is an energy about the restaurant that really kicks off the night. We were disappointed this time around. The initial interaction with the hostest was cold. A very young 20-something with a complete attitude. Even after stating we had a reservation. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes after our reservation time started. We had time to get a drink at the bar. When we were finally being lead to the table, it was one of the worst tables in the dining room. A small table right at the entrance of the restaurant when there were clearly other tables available. (Again we had a reservation) We immediately -and politely- asked to be seated somewhere else. The hostess reluctantly agreed and brought us back out to get another table. The table we then got was fine - but it took us to ask? Why? Our waiter and service were excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable and made recommendations. He checked on us with the perfect amount of pace throughout the evening. The menu did not change since our last visit and just like others have noted, it's very minimalist. There is nothing noteworthy about the food. It's overpriced, so it seems like you're paying for the experience. We had the branzino and the lamb Birria. Nothing to write home about. We get to Vegas quite a bit and have recommended Casa Playa to friends. Moving forward, we won't. It's really for a quick stop for drinks to rev you up, so you can move somewhere else for dinner.

Tuna Tartare (6.5/10): Pretty good, but I wouldn't say it's a must-order Fire Roasted Salsa (10/10): This lives up to the "signature" name. They make it fresh for you tableside. It tasted so fresh. All the ingredients were quality. Probably my favorite dish for the night. The chips were amazing as well. Queso Fundido (7/10): Tasty. Not a must-order, though Maitake Mushroom (8/10): Mushrooms were cooked to perfection. Loved the mole American Wagyu Striploin (9/10): 2nd favorite dish. The steak had an amazing sear. The crust was FULL of flavor. Loved the peppers on the side as well. Pork Belly Al Pastor (4/10): Way too dry. Pineapple was delicious, but the meat was not it. Green Rice (7/10): Excellent side dish. Tasted savory and fresh. Churros (5/10): A bit too mushy for my liking. Nothing extraordinary. Service was absolutely excellent!! The ambiance is also amazing. From the entrance to the interior, the restaurant is such a cool experience.

We were in the mood for Mexican food and we heard that this was a good place to go to. It is located at the Wynn & Encore Resort. The vibe is a stunning, high energy restaurant with cascading marigolds and vibrant colors thruout. We loved the gorgeous decor and the look! Our server, Stanley, was excellent, friendly and attentive thruout. We both ordered the same thing: Chicken Tinga Enchiladas and an Adults Only tequila drink. Our drinks were very good but unfortunately our main was disappointing. It simply didn't taste very good . The flavor was off. We ate it anyway because we were hungry and in a hurry to get to the Backstreet Boys concert at the Sphere. We didn't have time to wait for a redo of our meal. Next time we go there, we will just order something else and give them another chance. We had a good time there.

Went over the weekend for an anniversary celebration and WOW. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The staff and service we received was absolutely impeccable. I have a rather odd food allergy and the server teamed with other staff and made sure there were no issues. The team all seemed to highly care about my well-being and it was appreciated. They made our special day feel extra special by giving us both a glass of champagne and the tres leches cake on the house. Multiple staff wished us happy anniversary and seemed genuinely happy for us. As a lesbian couple there have been times in past years at other restaurants where we did not feel celebrated or even very welcome, so the staff's warmth here was extra special. The food was delicious overall. We started with the guacamole and squash tamal. The guacamole is solid and the chips were very fresh. The squash tamal has amazing flavor with just a hint of heat and was the star of the starters. I had the half roasted tamarind chicken and was very happy with my choice. So flavorful, juicy and a very large portion. This is a good main to share with someone. My wife had the short rib and could not stop raving about how good it was. We also had the green rice and cucumber salad for sides. The green rice was more flavorful when heated up the next day, but still good at dinner as well. The only item we could have done without was the cucumber salad. It is good if you want something light though. Can't wait to go back to Casa Playa.

Have always had a pleasant time whenever I dine at Casa Playa- everyone is friendly, atmosphere is fun, entrance is gorgeous, and it almost feels like you really are transported to a coastal luxurious destination for great reasons. To be honest, there are times that I do wish the food has a tad more salt or sprinkles of extra flavors, but everything still gets eaten and very much so enjoyed. Was able to treat dear friends to dinner at Casa Playa, and they really enjoyed the experience. I forget our server's name, but he was awesome. Kind, knowledgeable, attentive!

We had a great experience at Casa Playa. The service was excellent and every member of the staff inside the restaurant was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed margaritas and their smoked tequila old fashioned. The decor and ambiance is whimsical and fun, and they even have small chairs for the your purses which adds a fun and thoughtful touch! We enjoyed the pork tacos for the table and found it to be plenty of food for 3 and the potatoes were delicious as well. The only reason this was not a 5 star experience was the rudeness of the greeters. We walked up without a reservation at about 6:30 and asked to be seated and were told nothing was available until 9 even thought the website was showing many open reservations. We stepped to the side and made a reservation and we were then able to be sat around 7pm. The start of our interaction with the greeters initially turned us off from the restaurant, but thankfully the experience inside was much better.

I may have been a little too intoxicated to fully appreciate my meal at Casa Playa in Vegas. I was especially excited to try it since the chef is a James Beard Award winner. We started with the guacamole, which was a solid way to kick things off. I ordered the short rib, but it was a bit more cooked than I would have preferred. My friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed her lamb birria. My cocktail was absolutely delicious, and the oysters were good, though they didn't particularly stand out. Overall, I just never really connected with the meal. I'm not entirely sure why--it could have been my state of mind--but I left feeling like I didn't fully experience what the restaurant has to offer.

This Mexican restaurant inside Encore is absolutely beautiful--the atmosphere and interior are definitely one of its strongest points. Unfortunately, the service felt very disorganized and confusing. We had reservations, but one employee told us we would need to wait four hours. Then another said she could seat us, while someone else confirmed that we already had a reservation. We were honestly standing there wondering what was going on. The staff seemed nice enough, but there definitely needs to be better communication and training when it comes to handling reservations and seating guests. The food was decent overall, but not as impressive as I expected for a restaurant at Encore. The enchiladas were a little strange and not really to my taste, and the lamb was mediocre. On the positive side, the salad was extremely fresh and tasty, and the yellowtail tartare was very good. Overall, it's a gorgeous restaurant with a great setting, but the service organization and consistency of the food could use some improvement.

Decided to have girls night out at Casa Playa. This was a great decision as everything was delicious!we started the evening with the "Adults Only" cocktail served with a champagne boba shooter, was the perfect start to our appetizer forward dinner. Tasty chips and guacamole arrived. Then all three appetizers arrived to the table at the same time, shrimp ceviche, octopus and the kampachi. Each dish was absolutely delicious! We probably would have ordered more, but since it was not coursed out and arrived at the same time we became full very quickly. Our server was an absolute delight and the water glasses were filled often, which makes us happy since it was 111° outside. He was very attentive. I can't wait to return to try other dishes.

The ambiance is gorgeous, lively, and just dramatic enough to make your cocktail feel important. The food was flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly allergic to being basic. Everything felt polished without being pretentious, which is a delicate little miracle in Las Vegas. Overall, it was delicious, stylish, and fun. I left full, happy, and slightly worried my regular dinner plans may now need professional help.

Just reviewing the bar: lovely selection of beverages and _outstanding_, welcoming service in a gorgeous room. Kudos to management. We will be back - even when we're not staying in Encore.

FAB-U-LOUS! It was a girls night out so we splurged and hit the strip. From start to finish, we enjoyed every moment at Casa Playa. First... Chef Sarah Thompson... Is Remarkable! (She's a James Beard Award winner, you know.) She "nose" what people want. Great vibes... ambiance and decor! (There is the most adorable black n white picture of a donkey as you enter the restaurant. She took that picture and you just want to BOOP that snoot. Actually, as I understand it... she took all the pictures that are hung in the restaurant. She really is an artist in lots of ways.) She also KNOWS flavors and textures! I almost licked the dishes. All Of Them. I did not, of course, because this is an upscale dining experience and decorum dictates that I mind my manners. Full disclosure, I did lick my glassware tho... there was salt and seasonings on our drinks so it was acceptable. ha! The drinks are amazing! Careful tho.... while they go down smooth... there is Alcohol in them so imbibe responsibly. I am definitely going back to have another Wild Card.... in the simplest of terms... it's a pineapple margarita with a hint of heat. I loved it and if I wasn't driving, I would have had more than 1. If I had to pick a favorite... I would fail. We really enjoyed everything... my top faves are... I loved the Branzino... if you like Branzino even a little... order this. It's spectacular. The Maitaki mushroom in blanco mole... it's everything you want in mushrooms... "meaty", tender, flavorful, umami-ness... The scallops... The scallops were huge... succulent. Oh and the Green Rice. I don't know what is in this.. I mean... Rice ... yes.. probably garlic, cilantro and other magic... it's Fantastic and a definite must. It's a side and definitely enough for 3 people to share. The Purse Chair... super cute and considerate. Thanks to Chef Thompson and the entire Casa Playa team for a wonderful night out. We will be back!

Fabulous place to eat inside the Wynn Encore. Beautifully decorated with marigold flowers and statues. Not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Just make sure to make a reservation. I highly recommend the lamb dish as well as the seafood tower (oysters, crab, lobster, lobster and scallop salad). The waitress Haley (from Minnesota) was a delight and recommended the spicy margarita (it was delicious). Service and food was impeccable. Highly recommend for the quality of food, top notch service, and ambiance.

Ask the Community - Casa Playa

Is the weekend ayce brunch still available?

    Sadly, it is not :(

    Are there vegetarian options?

Yes there is a vegan vegetarian menu with a lot of great options like avocado tacos, vegan enchiladas, etc.

Are there gluten free options available?

The majority of the Casa Playa menu is gluten free and safe for someone with Celiac disease.

Is there any entree that is gluten free here? Does this restaurant use a shared fryer for things like flour taquitos that would cross contaminate gluten free corn tortilla chips? I have Celiac disease and have to eat gluten free.

The the great majority of the Casa Playa menu is gluten free and safe for someone with Celiac disease. Cross contamination is a non issues as Casa Playa does not serve flour tortilla or any gluten based dishes.

Gluten free items? Homemade tortillas.. are they corn?

    Homemade tortillas are corn.

I'd been thinking about this meal since my first pan roast in June…read more I arrived at the Palace Station Casino on Saturday. We got in the Oyster Bar Line at 11:34AM. Reading previous reviews, I saw some people stating that they waited two hours so I was mentally preparing. It seemed as though there were about 15 people in front of us in line so I was hoping it would go fast. We ended up getting seated at 12:59pm. So it was about an hour and a half for us. Victoria was our server and she was on top of it! Immediately when we sat down, she handed us two sourdough bread rolls, some butter, and the menus. She asked us what we wanted to drink and my partner ordered a draft beer, whereas I just had my water from my water bottle. She then asked us if we needed some time to look at the menu or if we were ready and after an hour and a half wait, we were well prepared with what we wanted to order. We ordered a dozen of the gulf oysters, and two pan roasts. One pan roast was the combo (level 2) and the other was the palace pan roast (level 3). When both pan roasts came out they were HOT, but that was not stopping us from shoving every bite of deliciousness into our mouths. Having had the palace pan roast in the past, and now trying the combo pan roast, I really did enjoy the combo better because I'm more of a seafood person. My partner had the palace pan roast for the first time and he instantly understood why I was raving about it for months. There's just something about the tomatoey, creamy, bisque like consistency mixed with some white rice that I just can't describe other than perfect. This is what you dream about on a cold fall day. I've personally always enjoyed the level 2 spice level, because I don't find it to be spicy or painful at all, but the man in front of us in line said he prefers 5. I like that you're able to customize it because everyone has a different spice tolerance and what everyone finds enjoyable is subjective per person. My partner and I ended up ordering an extra side of rice when it became apparent that the one side each would not be enough for us. He loves his rice, and I only take nibbles, so he usually eats mine. However, for this meal, I was not sharing my rice, so he had to order another side. Overall- highly recommend. The food is well worth the wait. After being in line for an hour and a half it's hard to be grumpy when the service is so efficient & friendly and the food taste this good.

I finally tried the Oyster Bar, and even on a Monday there was a line. I waited about 25 minutes…read more Like everyone says, there really isn't much seating. It's literally a bar, but it's a pretty cool setup. I ordered a Paloma and it was really, really good. Service was okay, especially considering how busy they were and the limited seating. One thing I appreciated was that even with people waiting, they didn't make us feel rushed to eat and get out. Now the food? Straight BOMB. I'm used to ordering seafood gumbo or a pan roast with lobster and having to search for the actual seafood. Not here! They give you big, beautiful pieces of seafood, and the portions are huge. We made the mistake of ordering our own instead of paying attention to the people around us because we definitely could've shared. And a warning about the oysters: they are HUMONGOUS. Seriously, keep that in mind when deciding how many to order. Between the generous portions, quality seafood, and that Paloma, I can definitely see why there's always a line. Four stars for me!

This is an expensive spot, no doubt. Ambiance is terrific, everything is orderly, and the service here is prime like the cuts they serve. No complaints about the experiential side of things. As for the food, ordered the following: - King Crab pasta starter - 5/10: dish looks extravagant, tasty, and substantial. Just going by appearance, this is a beauty. But, it is just absolutely loaded with butter. Too much that it overpowers the dish and gives it just one flavor note. The textures provided by the mushrooms and panko crumbles help a little, but you can't just help but feel like this is a butter soup. - Diver Scallops - 7/10: Perfectly cooked, large, tender, and tasty. Garnished with a tiny bed of spinach, but again, just soaked in like a stick of butter. Just too much butter. Anyway, our waiter was top shelf and very engaging. I wish I got his name. Funny guy too. I think this spot deserves another try, especially with all the steak and beef options.

The dining area had a candy bar shape, there is also seating at the bar. Please please sit by a window though, for some premium people watching of some of Downtown's more affluent residents. So far everything I've had here is bomb, we usually start with the chips with bean dip and ease our way into one of the most diverse and colorful taco and tostada collections I've ever seen on a menu, there's also a good chunk of ceviche. The Bajamar fish taco is an instant classic, watch out for the small green pepper chunks! My favorite is the Puerto Nuevo Taco, Shrimp with rice and beans with some pico and chile. Also enjoyed the octopus chicharron. Long live the chicharron! We also share the Surf N Turf fries, shrimp and carne asada mixed with mozzarella on fries! A must share with a companion or all by yourself. Couldn't ask for more in service, they check on you constantly and it's easy to get their attention. The ambiance does have a Baja beach vibe to it with the playa music and colorful aura. This will be in my repertoire for a while, come check it out!
