China Mama always seems to have a wait, and although the food was enjoyable, I would not be willing to wait nearly as long as some others on this platform. We arrived about 1.5 hours before closing and were quoted a 25-40 minute wait. Judging from the Yelp estimates and the crowd still gathered outside, I would lean closer to the longer end, if not beyond it. The staff operated with impressive efficiency, quickly bussing and resetting tables the moment parties left. One underrated highlight was the comfortable and clean couches. Once seated, we were served a hot teapot of wonderfully fragrant complimentary jasmine tea. Service throughout the meal was minimal but efficient. We placed our order shortly after sitting down and were only checked on once during final call. *Crispy Beef: easily my favorite dish of the night. The beef had an addictive balance of crispiness and chewiness, while the sauce delivered a pleasant sweetness that paired well with the light, crunchy batter. *Crispy Duck: the meat itself was juicy and tender, but severely underseasoned. While the skin was crunchy, its texture was almost abrasive, resembling sandpaper at times. The plain side of hoisin sauce felt more like a last minute addition than an integrated component of the dish. *Typhoon Shelter Chicken Wings: similar to the duck, these were technically cooked very well but lacked flavor. The interior remained moist, though the generous pile of garlic and green onion was misleading since very little of that flavor actually penetrated the wings. *Mama's Special Chow Mein: classic stir fried noodles with a satisfying chew. The dish avoided becoming overly oily and the assortment of proteins remained tender throughout. *Wontons In Szechuan Pepper Sauce: offered a subtle numbing sensation, though I would have appreciated more heat or vinegar for additional depth. The wonton wrappers were impressively thin and the filling was generous. This dish had plenty of potential and would have been excellent with bolder seasoning. Overall, this felt like a 3.5 star experience, rounded up slightly by the excellent jasmine tea and the generous portions for the price. While the meal was satisfying, I personally would not wait longer than 45 minutes for it. The crispy beef was the only dish that truly stood out.

I've seen lots of positive reviews about this chain of restaurants and I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the combination rice, fried duck, cucumber salad, combination chow mein and wings. Each of the dishes tasted amazing, were seasoned well and had great flavor. The portions were generous and the dishes were priced accordingly. However, without question, the duck was the most flavorful dish, especially, after Jason, the manager suggested I try mixing a small amount of soy sauce into the hoisin sauce, which, added more flavor to the duck. Jason's suggestion made my overall meal more enjoyable, which, I appreciated. Throughout my meal, Jason visited several tables interacting with customers, which, spoke volumes of the restaurants commitment to providing excellent customer service.

4.5/5 - One of the best Chinese spots in Vegas, especially the Jones Blvd or Shanghai Plaza locations. Hits: Killer crispy beef, juicy pan-fried pork buns, soup dumplings, and solid classics like mapo tofu and honey walnut shrimp. Fresh flavors, generous portions, and better than typical American-Chinese fare. Vibe: Modern, clean, family-friendly with good service (though it gets busy). Price: A bit higher ($20-$30 entrées), but worth it for the quality. Verdict: Must-try if you're craving elevated Chinese in Vegas. Locals love it for good reason. Reservations recommended on weekends.

Crispy beef, cucumber salad and pepper chicken - all super delicious!

We ordered DoorDash from China Mama and it was the most satisfying Asian food we've had in Las Vegas! The dishes were so flavorful and authentic, without the large price premium you'd pay for spots on the strip.

We went to eat dinner at Pepper Lunch, but when we arrived to walk in, we found out that they are temptation closed. I heard of China Mama, and their rave reviews, and it's right in the other end of Shanghai Plaza, so off we went. We were seated immediately (early dinner) and checked our their menu. Everything sounded delicious, and there were a lot of interesting items to try. We ended up ordering Dan Dan Noodles, Ginger Onion Fish, and Salt and Pepper Pork Chops. The food came out really quick. And piping hot! To keep it simple, everything was really good!

Mama's Special Pan Fried Pork Buns

Came here on a Monday around noon so I already expected it to be busy, which was totally fine. This was my first time at this location (I've been to their other ones before) and I mainly came to try the pan fried pork buns. It took about 10 minutes before a server came to my table. My server Jason seemed kind of rushed from the start. When I ordered, I asked which fried rice he'd recommend-- the Mama's Special or the Spicy Shredded Pork. He responded with "Well, it's up to you." in a pretty annoyed tone. After seeing my reaction, he tried to be nicer and suggested he could make the Special Fried Rice spicy instead so I just went with that. Someone else brought my food out and after that, Jason kept checking on the tables around me but completely skipped mine. As for the food-- it was just okay. The pan fried pork buns looked really good in photos but the taste didn't quite hit like I expected. The fried rice was decent, nothing special. The only positive service moments were when Jose brought the bill-- he was much nicer than Jason and the female server who brought my to-go boxes, who was also nice. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but if I'm in the area, I might try other dishes.

I love this place. I have been here several times before and it's my favorite Chinese food ever. The pork buns, potstickers and crispy beef are not to be missed. The service is always prompt. The inside is really nice as well. There is almost always a small wait to get it but it is 100% worth it. Review from 2024

China Mama is probably the worst Chinese restaurant my family and I have tried in Las Vegas, maybe anywhere. Given its reputation and high reviews, we were expecting the food to live up to the hype, but every dish we ordered fell short. We got crispy beef, beef roll, eggplant with minced pork, jajiang noodles, string beans, and their house special jumbo shrimp. Tell me why the beef roll wrap lacked color? The wrap looked like uncooked dough, yet it was the toughest thing to chew through. You know what else was hard to chew? The crispy beef. I understand the preparation is to deep fry the beef beforehand, but the pieces were so battered and hard and chewy that it was just so difficult to eat. Also, aside from the beef roll, everything tasted like vinegar! It was so offputting that the best part of the meal was the plain white rice! Although the green beans were palatable, all the other dishes were such a huge let down. Besides the lovely decor and table settings, there's not much to say about this place. If you're looking for authentic Chinese flavors, China Mama is not the place.

For months before my recent Vegas trip I studied the food scene in Vegas trying to find some food gems that maybe were not on the strip. One spot I kept coming across was a spot located in a strip mall in Shanghai Plaza in Chinatown-so when the craving for Chinese food finally hit-we headed out to China Mama on Spring Mountain Road. We took an Uber from our hotel, the Horseshoe Casino-Uber cost about $14 each way on Sunday evening around 5p.When we arrived I instantly knew my idea wasn't original as their were so many people waiting in the lobby and outside the restaurant-I put my name down and for my party of 4,I was told an hour to 90 minute wait.I was kinda stuck because we already took the Uber out there,so no real choice other than to wait. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in Chinatown portion of Vegas-so there were many other options to eat with little to no wait available to us,but I had my heart on eating at China Mama as some claimed it was the best Chinese spot in the entire city, which is saying something considering what's available in Vegas. Well the wait for a table ended up taking an entire hour,so by the time we sat down I was very prepared and knew exactly what I was ordering.I ended up going with Crispy Beef (18.99) Mamas Special Pan Fried Pork Buns ($17.99) Mamas Special Chow Mein ($17.99) Mamas Special Fried Rice ($17.99) & Stir-Fried Green Beans ($15.99). The food was at our table so fast-literally in under 8 minutes we had 4 of the 5 dishes-we were told the Pork Buns would take a little longer as they are made fresh and the cooking time takes a bit longer. Have you ever had one of those meals at a Chinese restaurant where each dish you get is like incredible only to be surpassed by the next thing you tried?Well that's what happened at China Mama-The Chow-Mein and the Fried Rice dishes featured Chicken,Beef & Shrimp and they were exquisite. The Green Beans dish was so yummy, perfectly textured with a slight garlic flavor-such a light dish to counterbalance the other dishes. When the Pan Fried Pork Buns arrived at the table,I had no idea what to make of them as I've never seen them presented that way-I don't even know how to describe it other than to say,see the picture I included. These things were especially good, especially once I dipped them in Chili Oil-my gosh. The star of the meal though had to be the Crispy Beef.I consider myself a foodie with pretty good experience in many cuisines, but somehow I had never had this dish before-it was so good-that's a dish I have a feeling I will be thinking about for a few days-a true must order dish when visiting China Mama. Needless to say-I truly enjoyed this meal and would be happy in the future to wait an hour for a table just for a chance to be able to experience this meal again-it was that good-might've been the best meal I had on this trip to Vegas-maybe. PS-only downside for me was looking at the bill later on and realizing they charged us for Fruit Tea($6.99) at the table when nobody ordered it-I didn't think anything of it because in my experience tea is complimentary-if I had noticed it before paying the bill,I would've disputed it as nobody in our party even touched the tea.

Brought my sister here to eat for lunch while we were in Vegas. We ordered a few items to share. Fish and green mustard soup, beef wraps and pork with cabbage dumplings. We did not expect the fish soup to be in a gigantic bowl. Yes it is cheap for $25.99 but wished the waiter told us this is a fairly large soup do two people. This is not a meal for 2 people. It is for 4-5 people. The beef wrap was good and flavorful and the pork dumplings were made fresh. The skin texture was chewy and the inside was juicy and just enough flavors. We have so many leftovers. We have to end up packing everything back to the hotel Fish soup was delicious but only order if you have a party of 4-5 people to help you eat. We had to throw it out since we cannot bring it on the plane.

We got here after the dinner rush around 8ish pm but, we waited for a little bit before we got seated. It was fine, since it was worth the wait. Our party was for 3 people and they sat us at the booth which had some comfy pillows. They did had our table set up nicely, with our waters, hot tea, and dinner settings with extra napkins when we got there. China Mama has some amazing authentic Chinese dishes! We tried the honey walnut shrimp, veggie fried rice, signature eggplant, and crispy beef. My two faves were the eggplant and crispy beef. I think those stood out to me. So savory and just the right amount of kick to the dish. I hate when food is too salty, theirs was spot on. The veggie fried rice was not too bad, I feel like it just needed a little more spice. Our server was chilled, he did come around to check up on us and refilled our drinks. I will be coming back for sure, to try other dishes!

Honestly, I don't understand the hype around China Mama. We had reservations and still waited forever to be seated, which was frustrating from the start. Service throughout the meal was super slow, and things just felt disorganized. Food-wise, everything was pretty mediocre, nothing stood out -- just average Chinese food. Szechuan wonton -- Decent flavor but nothing special. The sauce had some heat, but it didn't really stand out. Crispy beef -- Crispy at first, but more sweet than savory and got soggy pretty fast. Sizzling rice soup with seafood -- Warm and comforting, but pretty bland. Needed more flavor for a seafood soup. I had to add salt. String green beans -- Probably one of the better dishes. Garlicky and cooked well. Cucumber & shrimp dumplings -- Soft in a weird way, almost mushy, and the flavor combo didn't really work. The biggest disappointment was that they never made the one dish I was really excited for: the Signature Salted Egg Yolk Prawns. To top it off, when it was time to pay, they brought us someone else's bill. Overall, not a great experience and definitely not worth the long wait.

Their take-out business appeared to be robust, which was a good sign that they must be doing something right with their offerings. Menu is pretty standard fair. Noodles in broth with beef shank, various dumplings, rice plates and dry noodle dishes. We started with the deep fried spring rolls which were tasty. The wrapping was very thin and delicate and had a nice crunch for each bite. There are six in an order, which is a great value. Wife ordered the Lucky Beef Noodle which has a mildly spicy broth. She asked for half the normal amount of noodles, as she feels that the noodles end up soaking up a lot of broth. I ordered the Beef Soup with Dumplings, which is basically what my wife ordered without the noodles. I wanted noodles added, so they were gracious and added the noodles my wife did not want to my order. The broth was flavorful and mild, not much of a kick. But the pork and cabbage dumplings included in my order were out of this world delicious and paired perfectly with the beef and its broth. I highly recommend this specific dish! We didn't really look into it, but saw that they had udon which my son loves. Everything was delicious and freshly made. I kept telling my husband, "This place is legit!" I had the kimchi udon hot pot which comes with pork. I thought it was going to be slices of pork, but it was actually chashu that you would find in ramen! The tea was good. I must've had it refilled about three times. The husband got the Asahi draft. For the food orders, we started with the cholegi salad, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. While the cholegi salad was good, I'd have to say I've had better chicken karaage elsewhere. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to skip the chicken karaage next time. It was lacking in flavor so I asked for table salt to sprinkle on top of it. For the main dish, our party ordered beef sukiyaki udon, tendon, tuna and avocado poke don, nabeyaki udon, and kake udon. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. For dessert, we got everything that was on the menu so that we could sample them. I particularly enjoyed their matcha pudding in that it was more than what the picture showed. There were layers of azuki beans and black sugar syrup underneath the green pudding. This one was my favorite! The sweet potato ice cream was the party's favorite. Overall, I really like the vibe of this restaurant.
