I was visiting Dallas and looking to get a small tattoo done. After reading several bad reviews about other tattoo shops in that area I came across Cat Tattoo which had quite good reviews. I was a walk in. The shop was super clean and nice. I was taken to the back of the shop where the tattoo studio is and met with Matt Folse. After a brief conversation Matt assured me he could have the tattoo done in a matter of minutes which both impressed me and concerned me a tiny bit at the same time. I have had other tattoos around the same size take longer than a few minutes but he assured me it would be fine. Matt was super fast and did an amazing job! The tattoo turned out perfect! I'm glad he was my tattoo artist and I would happily get more work done from him. The price of the tattoo was high but it was worth every cent!! Overall a great experience. That guy was an absolutely terrible customer and Matt was doing a good job about not tatting a guy who came in totally out of his mind. DO NOT COME HERE FOR A PIERCING!! I came here for the first time with my sister for her nose piercing where they gave her a price quote of $60. While she waited 1 1/2 hours for her piercing they then told her it was going to be $220 even after they told her it would be $60 for the piercing & jewelry. $220 dollars for a nose piercing is unheard of & making your client wait over an hour just for you to spontaneously change the price is very unprofessional. I walked in there feeling confident I could get my nipples re pierced but she did a consultation and unfortunately I could not get them done due to not being healed properly. My mom and I both had tragus piercings by Angel. We were walk-ins and he was able to see us immediately after we signed our paperwork and picked our jewelry. Piercings were $30 each and jewelry was $70 each ( 2 flat back titanium studs with Swarovski crystal). Angel was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and thorough. I went in to see Crystal after finding her impressive Instagram page ( @crystalmandrigues ). She was able to get me in pretty quickly because she had a last minute cancellation. She listened to what I wanted and designed my GNR tattoo, and even played their music while she did it. I went to the shop late on a Sat. evening. The place was pretty full, but I was immediately approached by the staff. I explained what I wanted done and they made it happen. After a short wait I was set up with Shanti. She listened to me and my ideas about the redesign of my old tat. She did an excellent job. The artist's work areas were clean and I know that Shanti took her time in the setup process, to make sure everything was just right before working on my foot. Throughout the process people kept trickling in and all I witnessed was professionalism from the staff. A week after my tattoo Shanti sent me before and after pictures,and she also wanted to know how the healing process was coming along. I am happy that I chose to go with Cat Tattoo, and I plan on going back to get more work done in the future. read more

I got my medusa piercing done here the other day and it was such an impressive experience! I was greeted immediately by Sarah and another piercer whose name I didn't catch. They showed me their wide selection of BVLA jewelry, and when I told them how much I could afford, they were able to help me choose the right piece. When it came to actually getting pierced, both Sarah and the other piercer spent a good while trying to map out the perfect spot for my piercing. It came out so beautifully and I can already tell it's going to heal great. Keep in mind before you go - it WILL be expensive. I paid $260 for my medusa, but the experience and jewelry quality are well worth it. I will definitely return!! read more

I had a not so pleasant experience with crystal mandrigues awhile ago. It was my first time here too. I came to see her for walk in because I saw her work and I liked her talent. When I showed her examples of what I wanted, she sketched out her drawing on her tablet which was normal. But everything she drew I wasnt 100% satisfied. I kept mentioning certain things I wanted in the tattoo, but each redraw the style wasnt to my liking or something seemed missing to me. I could tell she was getting annoyed and frustrated...she was visibly upset with me after 30 min of redesigns. Understandably, I felt bad but also wish she wasnt taking it so personally. I ACKNOWLEDGE SHES A GOOD ARTIST AND TATTOOER, but i just didn't feel completely satisfied with the drawings she came up with for our first time meeting. Feeling the pressure of not making her more angry and already paid for the nonrefundable deposit, I reluctantly went with her last drawing after she irritably walked away from me for 10 minutes to blow off steam. I did not like to go through that awkward experience with someone tattooing me. I just wish she handled it with less sensitivity so I could have felt the freedom to make the right decision to postpone the tat another date and have more time for the design. The tattoo she did on that day came out technically good, good lines and no blowout. I just dont enjoy the design completely, maybe 70%. Its not too bad where I would ever get it covered up. I think the lesson here for myself and all the reviewers reading this is: if you want to be completely satisfied with your artists design and to avoid visible annoyed reactions from your artist if you want a change, communicate beforehand via email and have them come up with a design for day of consultation. Dont do walk in and expect to be satisfied to your artists design on the same day. That way the artist has more time to think and be creative with a design using your input and examples. That's where I went wrong with Crystal. I shouldn't have done a walk in with her but given her at least few days to design something. Shes a great artist, but even she sometimes cant come up with a design that you would love on the first day meeting. The studio itself is amazing. It's big, clean, friendly service, nice interior design. Its 3 stars only because of my personal negative experience with Crystal. read more

Went to get a dermal piercing removed from my fiancé's lower back last night. Told the receptionist what we needed done, she said that would be no problem and that we were next in line to see the piercer. After waiting 15 minutes the piercer came out to talk to us. She said she doesn't remove dermals from clients backs. When I asked her why she rudely responded by saying it's Very painful and she doesn't like hurting her clients. We went down the street to Skin Art Gallery. The staff was extremely friendly. They removed the dermal in less than 5 minutes, which included setting up. There was literally no pain, just a little pressure. They will now be our go to for all our piercing needs. Cat Tattoo needs to invest in more training for their piercers if they want to avoid losing easy business. read more

I came in for a consultation today for a decently big, but still pretty simple tattoo that I had a friend quickly sketch out- I have 4 smaller ones I've gotten in the past 2 years. I told the artist I was okay with alterations, and he immediately told me it was a bad idea- okay, I can work with changes. He went on to repeatedly tell me that I was too young to know what I want, and i'd regret the tattoo or hate it when I got older. The professional advice here, as far as I know, is pretty solid and I respected it- I don't know everything. However, I felt very disrespected and patronized, as he assumed (or insinuated) that I had not looked into the artists, and had not put *that* much thought into what I wanted. I have planned this tattoo and thought about it for over a year, and did my research into the artists I was looking at. I put a lot of thought and research into this tattoo, and he assumed I didn't look too far into something that has meaning to me and has since I was a child. I don't want to bash this shop horribly- they have done a lot of good work and the artist knew what he was talking about (and I didn't end up getting anything done), but I did not appreciate the way I was treated here. read more

We arrived for our appointment made over a week in advance on Saturday at 1 pm. We arrived at lunch next door around noon and had 1 margarita. Stopped by for a consultation about helix piercing and jewelry. Super clean store with a beautiful collection of jewelry- silver, gold, titanium. Probably the biggest collection I've seen at a tattoo/piercing studio. Kaleb was phenomenal. Explained everything patiently and was so nice to me. I didn't get my helix pierced here but I wish I had. RUDE RUDE RUDE. Update. I have been here a few times and this WAS my favorite tatoo/piercing place. But recently I encountered Britany. I usually try not to use names on reviews, but she was so incredibly rude. I wanted to walk out of there. Someone needs to go over customer service with her. She was not very nice at all. I will probably not go to the place again. I have referred a lot of people to this place and it's gone down hill since last year. These experiences are supposed to be exciting and at the same time there are fears involved. You really want someone to understand exactly what you want and try to make it good overall experience you will remember. Although they did a decent job, I was very unhappy by how we were treated. I came to schedule an appointment,he was laughing at me and my requests. That was really unprofessional. I called to ask for the owner,the same guy answered the phone and it was even worst. That was one of the worst customer service experience I ever had in DFW.
