Today was my third visit to Lone Star, and just like the previous two times I've been, it was a fantastic experience. Went as a walk in, and was immediately fit in. Cassie is a rock star. She is amazing at what she does and got excited about my tattoos. It's always good when an artist is excited about the tattoos you are getting done. The shop was clean and the people were friendly and understanding. UPDATED 11/30 I got my belly button pierced 8/30 by Matt and he was really nice. Only thing is that after my piercing started healing a bit i noticed it was a little tilted and just crooked. When he showed me the dots before piercing it the placement looked fine, when he finished and i looked at the piercing and it did look a just a bit crooked and i didn't think much of it because it was very swollen, red and bleeding quite a lot so i kept cleaning it the rest of the day. It hasn't fully healed but it's definitely crooked and not centered and just doesn't look cute. read more

Was cleaning a newly done microdermal that I had gotten in Deep Ellum. The jewel unscrewed and I was panicking- freshly pierced dermals can close up QUICKLY. I knew I had to do something to carry him with me and to also help me with the pain and heartbreak I had been dealing with since. He would always make this face when he was happy and excited and I always called him happy puppy when he did. So my ci (fancy hearing aid) wasn't working for whatever reason so I called ahead using a special relay service for deaf people. Before I arrived, the front desk girl (never got her name, I wish I did) said she would have post it notes and a pen ready for when I arrived. I was there to get a helix piercing on my ear. I arrived, pointed to my ears and she immediately knew I was the Deaf caller. Pulled out the post its and pen. Even signed "ID?" to me. I did make it clear that I can read lips very well, but she ensured that I would have something for communication if needed. BOTH her and Matt made sure to be looking at me whenever they spoke so I could understand them and if I couldn't catch what they said, she would just write it down. They also were not condescending at all or over compensating by saying "never mind, I'll just write it down" instead of just repeating something I asked them to. They only wrote something when I asked. That meant a lot. After the piercing, I also handed Matt my phone so he could type some aftercare tips and stuff in my notes just in case I lost the handwritten notes from the front desk girl. He didn't even hesitate, he just understood and started typing right away. They were super accommodating and so nice!!! I know this seems like extremely easy things for them to do, but you'd be surprised. Matt was also very calming and professional. I have a fear of needles (ironic) but he put me more at ease and I can honestly say he has the most wholesome vibe ever. I'll definitely be returning here for more future tattoos and possibly another piercing. read more

Ari has done multiple tattoos for me, and it has always been a wonderful experience! She does great designs for flash sales, and was wonderful to work with on a design that I brought in as well! Had my tattoo done by Josh. I showed him a picture of a rose that I wanted and had spent a long time picking out and deciding for my first tattoo. He was upfront and told me he couldn't do some things and not others. I asked him to draw it on paper first so I could see what it would look like and he refused to do so. I still went through with it and the end result ended up being drastically different than the picture I gave him but all in all I was still moderately happy with the tattoo. I requested a multicolored rose. He added thorns, which wasn't apart of the original design, and I was very upfront that I wanted red, yellow, green, blue, and purple incorporated. He did fantastic with everything except for the blue and the sizing of the tattoo. He told me he was just going to freestyle where to put the colors and ended up refusing to include the blue because he didn't think it would look good. My future career requires that this will be covered which is part of the reason I requested it on my shoulder. I wanted to still be able to wear short-sleeves and it to not show. The last inch and a half still shows and while it isn't a big deal if just a little shows, he still didn't do exactly what I asked. There is still some empty spaces in between the petals and I came back a month later asking him to put the blue in there as it was important to me that I get all of the colors I requested in. Josh told me he would do a separate rose on it and add the blue there but not what I was requesting. Overall it was a decent experience for my first tattoo, and he charged me $120 for it which was pretty good price, but it wasn't what I wanted when I walked in. I'm not unhappy with the tattoo it's just not what is requested. I'm going somewhere else to see if they will actually do what was requested. Probably won't come back to this place. read more

Took my daughter here to have her ear lobes pierced. She has a needle phobia (a has passed out getting vaccinated level phobia), which is why she waited until her late teens to get them done. Mia is the BEST! Coming out of a mid-life crisis, and new to the area, I woke up one day and decided I wanted my ears peirced. Some quick research... I realized I did NOT want to go the free gun style piecing at Walmart. That I wanted them hand needle pierced so they would heal faster and with less likelihood of complications. Also I wanted them properly centered in my lobes, which are nearly non-existent, hard to figure where to put the holes... Another shop highly rated on Yelp I stopped by, they were VERY expensive because they required I purchase stud jewelry from them at time of piecing, and the minimum plain black dots were.... $110! Plus $45 per ear... I was like I don't want your designer case jewelry dayum it! They wouldn't budge. So I stopped by Lonestar Tattoo on a whim driving by a month later. Mia explained their actually really cool cubic zirconia studs were FREE, included in the piecing price. GOOD. She was kind, patient, and answered all my questions. Then.. Once we started, she took the time to explain each step before she did it, asked permission every time she went to touch me so their were no surprises.... And took the time and care to really line up the markings and make sure they were gonna look centered. I was very confident thru the whole process, and she coached me on how to properly care for them, and where to buy jewelry when I'm ready.
