original tattoo

I don't like giving bad reviews. So it takes a lot for me to write one. I got a tattoo from an artist at Legacy on Midway. A very simple script tattoo and a refresh of an already existing one. The artist just had to trace over the existing one and he botched it. The lines were sloppy and he left a color out entirely. I have pics. This tattoo means a lot and is clearly not right. After contacting him, I decided I did not trust or want him to fix it. He was a nice guy but it was hard communicating with him. So I wrote the owner. I shared the pics and asked for a partial refund. He did not respond so I wrote again. Still no response. The artist did not do a good job, but the owner showed a total lack of respect and professionalism by ignoring my requests. So that is why I cannot recommend Legacy Arts. I found a great tattoo artist for considerably less money and professionalism/quality one should expect and receive when getting a tattoo

Let me start with, my experience with Eric Cantu and Legacy was overwhelmingly positive and I am incredibly happy with the finished piece of art, but one factor made it miss 5 stars for me. I had been planning a cover up tattoo for quite a while, and just hadn't followed through, so upon moving to Dallas, I decided to search for an artist and get it done. My first tattoo, a small purple flower that turned into a black blob over the last 20 years, had no meaning for me and I wanted to cover it with a mermaid...I've always wanted to be a mermaid. My research led me to Legacy and Eric Cantu due to the raves about his use of color, and I loved that it is an all original art shop. I scheduled a consult with Eric, where I showed him pictures of things I liked and we discussed what was possible for the cover up, location, and my keeping it covered as needed. I was happy with this and booked the earliest appointment available, which was 2 months out, and put down $100 deposit. I emailed him the pics we had been looking at and he said he would send me some ideas before the appointment. Cue a week before the appointment and I had not heard anything. I emailed and called a couple times during the week, but still never heard back from Eric. I arrived for my appointment on time and Eric came to talk to me-it was clear he had forgotten the details of what we discussed (where it was and that it was a cover up), and this is where one star is lost for me. That said, he quickly came up with a design I loved and consulted with me on it and the colors. His preparation was thorough, and it is clear he is conscious of keeping things clean, etc. He worked quickly and expertly, and showed me the progress to discuss any changes or shading in color I might want. I waited until it was fully healed to write this, and I LOVE my tattoo. Also, you truly cannot tell it is a cover up. I have already recommended Eric to a friend and my husband is also considering one by him. I do wish there had been more communication leading up to the appointment, but I would not hesitate to recommend Eric and Legacy Arts to anyone. Tip: CASH ONLY, so plan accordingly to avoid fees (they do have an ATM).

Guys, I seriously love this place. I got a tattoo from Macy and I am in awe of how beautiful the detail and the shading is. Not only is the work amazing, but they aren't super expensive and the atmosphere and everyone who works there is so down to earth and polite. Everyone is so accommodating and funny and help each other. I'm terrible at getting tattoos but Macy worked with me and didn't complain when I had to take a break or made pain noises lol. My tattoo took 2 sessions and I could not be happier with how it came out. I would recommend Macy to anyone wanting a well done tattoo! Seriously, go see her!

Art by James Corgill. Love it!!

Absolutely pleased with James Corgill. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and turned it into a beautiful piece of art! It was my first tattoo and I can't wait for my next one! The shop is super clean. The other artists are friendly. Only downside is Corgill's popularity--his schedule fills quickly. He's worth the wait!

My arm is so clean my friends thought my tattoo was fake. I waited nearly a month for my appointment because this is a custom shop, but the wait was absolutely worth it. This place is clean, quiet, and calm. No loud music or questionable people. Real artists working hard doing their thing. While getting my arm done, another artist next to Eric was painting. Such a soothing set up to be able to watch him work while getting my arm done. No bleeding, no raised lines, minimal pain, and I was in and out of the chair in less than two hours. Professional work from great people. Will be back.

A corrected tattoo and my matching new one by the incredibly talented and friendly Christine Zwick

Outstanding! This review is long overdue. Me, my husband, my best friend and one of my close friends have all had tattoos here. The entire staff is artistically gifted, friendly, personable, and just plain talented. Most recently, my bestie and I had matching tattoos crafted by Christine! She was so friendly, kind, patient and talented. Snag her while you can - I have a feeling she'll start getting booked up pretty quickly considering her talent and friendliness. My husband goes to James Corgill and he does outstanding work. Another friend raves about Will and he has a really fun personality, too. Everyone here is pretty incredible. This is an extremely clean shop, too. We all feel like we are in safe hands every time we go. Come here, don't be worried - you can trust this shop.

If you're sitting back thinking "should I go here?" Think no more!! YES YOU SHOULD!! The place is super clean, and Tiffany is an amazing artist! She is very attentive and talented! I felt welcome from start to finish and am so happy with my outcome!

Several years ago I had Billyjack do an improvement/cover-up to a tattoo I had got from a shop in…read moreNew Orleans. Then last week I went in for a new one. Neither of the designs were complicated or intricate...just some 3-5 inch ones. If you've seen Billyjack's Instagram page you know the man can do some pretty fabulous, complicated pieces so my stuff wasn't exactly anything that was automatically going to get his artistic juices flowing. And that's what I love about Billyjack. Even on when you give him a fairly simple concept, he'll make sure he makes it more and special. The most important thing he does in my opinion though is that he acts like a partner or a consultant, not just an artist who's going to execute the design you bring him. My experience down in New Orleans with the other shop was one where it was kind of like "whatever you want, man". I didn't need that, I needed a strong guiding hand and that's what I got with Billyjack. I threw out some ideas and he pretty much said what would and wouldn't work and then expanded on what would. Oh, and he's a blast to talk with. How many tattoos have you had where you and the artist have covered: dogs, kids (OK, those first 2 are pretty easy), rent relief policies during COVID and Roth IRA's. And laughing the whole time.

When I walked into the tattoo parlor, it looked clean, professional, and well put together. Based…read moreon the appearance alone, I felt confident I would receive good service. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience at all. The artist who worked on me seemed inexperienced, and the process didn't match what I was told. What should have taken around 30 minutes was discussed as taking several hours, which already felt off. In the end, I was charged $200 for a cover-up that I'm extremely unhappy with--especially since it's on my face. To make matters worse, the artist didn't follow through on what was promised. He said he would work on two tattoos but only did one, and even then, it wasn't what I asked for. I specifically wanted a design resembling stitches, but instead I was left with a large black feather on my head that I deeply regret. The environment also felt unprofessional. The staff came across as dismissive and made me feel judged for the tattoo ideas I wanted, which added to an already negative experience. Overall, I left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and unhappy with both the service and the final result. I would not recommend this shop. Are there any tattoo shops in the area willing to help fix a bad face tattoo once it heals? I'm worried it might scar, and I'm trying to figure out my options. If anyone has experience with cover-ups or thinks removal would be a better route, please let me know. I'd really appreciate any advice or recommendations--this is something I'm stressing about and want to fix the right way. I'm not trying to bash the entire shop, because there seemed to be some talented artists there. However, I do want to warn others about my experience with one specific artist. The artist I worked with--whose name may be Ivan or Isaac--came across as confident, but in my opinion did not demonstrate the level of knowledge or experience I expected. For example, when I asked about certain techniques like blood shading, he didn't seem to understand what I was referring to. That raised concerns for me about his training and experience. Again, this does not reflect everyone at the shop, but based on my experience, I would personally not recommend working with that particular artist.

Not only did you give me what I wanted and more today, you also turned my day into not so great, to amazing. You are an incredible artist and a genuine and kind person and you will be my first recommendation to anyone that asks.... Don't ever change, you are going places. I have had plenty and several different tattoo experiences and yours has by far been the best. From the moment I walked in with the way your friend greeted me at the front desk, (shoot, from the moment I called the store) you two made me feel important and cared about. The fact that you have a personal sheet to fill out about personality to make each experience for each Individual unique and important is just something I haven't ever experienced before and something I won't ever forget. Never have I ever reached out to an artist to give them this much of an opinion about them or my experience but you truly made a stranger feel like family in a matter of a couple of hours and that's something that deserves to be pointed out. Thank you again for giving me such an incredible work of art that I get to wear the rest of my life and that you for being such an incredible person that made me feel seen and cared about. I can't wait to finish the rest of my sleeve with you
