In March I found Rowan. Piercing by nurses - what could go wrong? I made an appointment online and when I arrived the vibe was already off. Front desk girlies were not super warm and I felt rushed to choose jewelry with minimal help or explanation - but knowing I was paying for quality hypoallergenic materials gave me comfort. I have been to much busier places where they still take their time with each guest. My piercer was much nicer than those at the counter, and gave a thoughtful consult. We marked my ear a couple different times before settling on the best placements. I got 2 piercings on the same side, one was the upper lobe, the other above it, bordering cartilage on the edge. Overall, I felt like the cost and the on screen tip suggestions were not commensurate with the experience but hey, I was paying for expertise. A week later, things were not right with the 2nd one in the cartilage area - my ear was swelling and it felt like the post length they chose for me did not allow for this - ouch. I went back and my piercer was not there, and the one who helped me spent the first few minutes asking me questions in a very accusatory manner. Y'all - I have been getting piercings for decades. Regardless, the tone just exasperated things and the fact that they had to get the longer post was pretty much proof it may have been their error initially. The piercer decided to remove the jewelry and pierce a new spot in the same area with the longer post - this felt like a weird option as it is a thick part of the ear and piercing so close to the other when I was already swollen - I should have just taken the L and gone somewhere else after healing. I want to say that was another $50. It has been sensitive and sometimes icky on and off ever since. I know some areas take longer to fully heal than others but this was done in March. Out of all of the piercings I have ever had (including navel), I was never sitting with a painful infection like I am today, 7 MONTHS later, waiting for my super intense antibiotic prescription to be ready and bonus, RUINING MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR because I am in too much pain to go anywhere. 2 stars because my initial piercer was at least nice. 0 stars for everything else. All things considered, I would not return or recommend Rowan.

This is a cute place. We had a great experience for our daughter's piercing a couple months ago…read more The staff is great & very helpful. I like that they have licensed nurses & do needle piercing. My reason for not giving 5 stars is because I think that the Rowan scheduling program is over-scheduling the staff. We're here for our follow-up & there's only one woman working with no support at the register. There have been 3 other clients with appointments since we've been here for a scheduled appointment. It's too much for one person to juggle. I hope Rowan sees this & adds more support for their staff. Taking school holidays into account would likely help in that regard.

I called and was told I could drop in, and was informed of the documents I needed. Then the plan was set. My son bugged me every ten minutes over the weekend, so by 6PM or so, away we went to get the job done. This place located in the middle of Plano in a strip mall location. Once you walk in the door, you immediately get a great vibe. The place is clean, there's music playing, but not too loud and the music was great. The employees are all AWESOME and look of the rooms was really cool. Theres lots of cool art on the walls, they even have a throne on one side of the room. After we get through the logistics, my piercer speaks to us. Her name is Tex. Here's what I love. Tex knows her trade. When she speaks on piercing, she knows everything about it, and exudes confidence. As a Dad, it's a relief to experience someone so knowledgeable. On to the counter we go. We picked out the earrings and I cracked few jokes to calm my sons nerves. Pretty soon we were on the path to getting his piercing. Tex worked with my son and I explaining which earrings he was allowed to wear and why. Then we had to wait around 15 minutes for the sterilization process, but it was an easy 15 minutes since they have snacks, water and great music to keep you busy. I'll also add that I felt very comfortable waiting and watching the people interact, you can tell they're like family running a business. Before you know it, its time. Tex comes and gets us, and takes us to the front room. The process is pretty quick yet delicate, and Tex talked my son through it. Tex made sure we liked where the earrings would go. Minutes later, my sons ears are pierced and we're good to go. We then moved to the main counter where Tex explained the cleaning, the options and the process for the the next month or two. I gotta say, this was a great experience, and Tex made it even greater being so knowledgeable and explaining everything to my son and I. Thank you Vixen Body Art for a fantastic experience, way to stand out!
