I came in on Friday the 13th and got the moon tarot card tattoo. During the tattoo, the stencil wiped off so my artist grabbed the flash paper and free handed it. When the tattoo was finished I noticed most of the lines looked wobbly, but I thought maybe after some healing they wouldn't look so rough. It's been a week and 25% of the tattoo is now missing and that tattoo looks shaky. I'm super bummed because the Friday the 13th tattoos at this shop were more expensive but the style fit my patchwork sleeve I've been working on. I went to this shop in person to get a quote on a cover up and was referred to Quinn, where we spoke and she agreed to do my cover up and said I had to wait 2 weeks because it was new. MIND YOU!! At the time of making the appointment I SPECIFICALLY asked if I needed to put down a deposit and she CLEARLY TOLD ME I DID NOT have to worry about a deposit. I even texted her my name and confirmation of the appointment and she confirmed....Well 2 weeks pass and I call her and she's out of town! Then goes on a whole unprofessional rant about how I didn't put a deposit down, how I didn't confirm, about her and her bag, all this other crap! Then proceeds to say that a deposit is not required however one is recommended to secure your spot... WTF?! Then she wants to bring up how there are signs around the shop mentioning a deposit -_- .... If you as the artist's specifically tell me "not to worry about it" then why do the signs matter? Apparently their word is CRAP!! So once again, I addressed to her how me and her already had a convo and she TOLD ME I DIDNT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A DEPOSIT!! THEN regarding the confirmation I tell her I didn't receive any confirmations for the appointment, and she proceeds to say "oh honey I don't reach out to y'all y'all reach out to me" like what?! I got a little fish from their apprentice Lydia near the end of August and Florence (the fish) healed great. Lydia was cool to work with. We concluded that the first two stencils I picked were not conducive to the area I wanted tattooed, so we landed on Florence. I really appreciate her honesty in placement and sizing. I recently got a quarter sleeve done by Taylor. I can't recommend her enough! She is easy and great to work with. She takes into account your ideas and budget and really made my Tongue-Cut Sparrow (Shita-Kiri Suzuki)/ peony tattoo come to life. She was cool with taking breaks when I needed to and wasn't pushy at all. Her tattoo environment is very welcoming and comfortable. I highly recommend you check out her booth because she has bomb decor as well as being an awesome person. I've only worked with Lydia and Taylor, so I can't speak for any of the other artists, but this is my experience with working with them at Artistic Encounter. read more

Got my second tattoo here this weekend by Diana. The shop itself is very clean and aesthetically pleasing, and the workers are funny. Most of them didn't talk to my friend and I, but that's pretty typically when you're a teenage girl coming in with hardly any ink. Diana herself was very sweet and had made a beautiful design for me in advance after I reached out to her via Instagram. It took about 2 hours and didn't hurt at all - she was very gentle and clean with her linework. She didn't speak much English but made sure to translate questions to be sure I liked the size, placement, etc. This cost $250 (note they only take cash) and was definitely worth it. Very very happy with the final product and had a great time. The shop was surprisingly empty for a Saturday night, and my friend and I watched TV in the shop during the process, and had the water and chocolate offered to us :) If I want another tattoo in the future I'll absolutely consider Artistic Encounter again. The owner was also very helpful and replied to my email instantly and answered all my questions. read more

I moved here from TN 5 years ago next month and have struggled to find artists that have talent AND availability. I was referred to Dillon Duncan after meeting one of his clients and needless to say when I checked out his Instagram portfolio (@dillonduncantattoos) I was not disappointed. I'm 4 hours into a head piece on the left side of my head and not only was the design better than I could have imagined (i went to college for graphic design so I've designed most of my tattoos) but his hourly is reasonable, especially for the amazing work he puts out! 10/10 would recommend! Kinda Sketchy. My friend's helix piercings was crooked and the jewelry was cheap. She had to ask about after care. I never saw him dispose of the needle he used to pierce her ear either. She went to get her helix repierced the next day at another shop who was appalled at the way it was done. My other friend had her nose pierced and I also never saw him dispose of the needle. He cut her piercing with very rusty pliers, which definitely freaked me out. He was very quick when piercing though, which was nice. read more

I walked in while I was waiting for my dinner to be made at Zio Al's, practically right next door to this tattoo shop, and started talking to jerimiah about tattoo sizes and approximate prices and whatnot, and after answering all my questions, i told them i'd probably be back in an hour or two to get a tattoo. I come on back after dinner, and talk to them, show them what i want, and fill out some paper work. About 15 minutes later, drifter is cleaning up his area and asks me to send him a copy of the design so he can make the stencil, and as soon as everything is cleaned up, he has me come to his booth, places my tattoo, and we go for the gold. About 2 hours later, he finishes up filling in the last of the bold spots. It has been about a week and a couple of days, and the tattoo looks freaking awesome! The lines are solid, and bold, and the color is packed in. No blown lines, no shaky hand. It's especially impressive since this was my first tattoo, and i got it on my hip. If I'm still in Texas for my next tattoo, drifter will defiantly be getting a call from me. read more

Been thinking about getting my nose pierced since the beginning of the year and decided to finally take the plunge and just do it. I came to this shop because it was highly recommended and so glad that I did. I arrived with my boyfriend and we were greeted as soon as we entered the door. The only person at the shop doing piercings that day, Micah, already had a customer so we were invited to sit and wait. The shop was clean and neat, especially the bathrooms, and we were able to look at pics of tattoos in various albums while we waited. There was some hardcore slasher metal playing which isn't my taste, but it wasn't so loud as to be obnoxious. Before getting my piercings Micah took his time and explained the difference between the different metals he uses and provided me a choice, along with his recommendation, at no extra cost. I completed paperwork which asked the appropriate medical questions and Micah put me at ease explaining the process. When I got back to the room is was very obvious he had just wiped down and cleaned the chair the other customer had used and he opened all new packaging and sterilized it, again, while I was there. Micah did an excellent job of putting me at ease and the entire thing was over in 5 secs. Micah took great care explaining to me how to clean my piercing and provided me with some Q-tips for the very little bleeding I was experiencing. The piercing was $40, which I understand to be more expensive than most, but I personally feel you can't pay too much for service and quality like I received. I had the option to pay cash or credit so I opted to pay cash. I've had minimal soreness and no swelling or redness. An excellent experience overall! Tip - If you can, take some pain meds 30 mins before your piercing. It will help a great deal with the immediate discomfort you'll experience afterwards. read more

I got my sons birthdate on my arm and a guy with a chin tattoo did my tattoo and it was awful. The guy kept going around the numbers over and over atleast like 4-5 times on every single number. The tattoo is not smooth at all and every number is bumpy I wouldn't advise anyone to not get a tattoo there cause the pricing of my tattoo wasn't even worth it cost 120$ for a bumpy tattoo is bullshit and I looked at there artwork first before coming in and to hope to get a awesome tattoo. I went in to see Russell today for my first piercings ever. I've put them off my entire life after watching my mom and sister have infected ears from just about every metal other than gold and sterling. After being Instagram envious of all of the cute constellation piercings taking off right now, I wanted more than just lobes done. I figured if the experience sucked I would never have the guts to come back, so I asked for all the piercings I wanted in one setting: double lobes and one helix. I traveled an hour from South Fort Worth to see him after finding his portfolio on Instagram, and Russell was very thankful and gave me a nice bundle deal since I was getting 5 piercings in one go for my first time. He also explained how his jewelry is safer and better than most everything else that is out there, which I appreciated after having family allergy concerns. I am a typically terrified of needles which is also why I put off piercing anything forever. My helix piercing was first and was so quick and painless I literally said, "That's it?" and laughed. It felt like I was tapped with a toothpick. The lobe piercings hurt a bit more (which are normally the easiest piercings to get), but nothing crazy. No panic, no tears. Very fast with perfect placement. Honestly, the most stressful part of the entire experience was picking out my favorite jewelry :) The facilities were clean with lots of natural light. First off, they were doing piercings for 1 for $30 or 2 for $50. I only wanted my nose pierced but had two $20s, and they insisted they couldn't break my $20 so they ended up keeping an extra $10. That wasn't a huge deal to me, but kind of weird. We brought 10 people in and a friend had signed up for a tattoo but decided not to get something because she wasn't feeling well and the tattoo artist called her a stupid bitch, when her boyfriend told him not to call her a stupid bitch he pulled out a gun! How fucking unprofessional. The piercer is cool af but the men tattoo artist are complete trash. We physically saw the gun, it was Dillon Duncan in the front cubicle. There was a whole lobby full of people, so feel free to ask anyone who was there. read more

BUT NOPE! Walk-in and sign in at 5:15, ask how long the wait is.. was told no more than 2 hours. I hangout waiting for almost 2 hours figuring I'm next. I knew something was up when I saw someone who had been there since 3pm just got done. I went back up to the counter to see a hot mess of paperwork, cash thrown in a random drawer, and three people fumbling through piles of paper trying to find several peoples information. I waited patiently for my moment to ask how long the wait is.. the short haired woman who initially told me "no more than 2 hours" was up there so I figured she would notice me and be delivering some good news (again, totally understand it being busy) So I asked and she tells me "2-3 hours". So I reminded her I was already on the list and she finds my name and proceeds to tell me in a very short tone( as if I was bothering her) "I told you 2-3 hours bro". Is this a joke?! I'm sorry, but whether I'm getting a small piece or a more substantial tattoo, I would hope there would be a reasonable amount of professionalism. Thanks, but no thanks. Got my daith pierced by Shyann 11 days ago. It's my 9th piercing overall. Didn't hurt at all as some people have said but I also have a high pain threshold and tolerance. I didn't get to choose the jewelry, and considering how long it takes to heal and my average rate of landing in an MRI or hospital each year, I would have preferred a non-ferrous metal - titanium would have been nice, and a CBR for easier cleaning maybe, as opposed to a 316L SS curved barbell. At 16G it's SO TINY. The parlor itself wasn't the cleanest, but that's fine as the equipment was kosher, and she spent quite a while making sure to mark my ear up properly to get it even and in deep enough. I think the weirdest part of the experience was how few piercings - visible at least - she had herself. Loads of ink, but not many visible piercings. Also, piercings here as with a lot of places in DFW have way inflated prices compared to other places in urban areas around the country - I've noticed the same with tats. TIP: Save yourself some money and hit an ATM beforehand as there is a service charge when not paying cash. read more

Came in for a piercing for a friend and took a fair tour of the place. I flipped through their books and they seem to have good talent for tattoos. This is a clean and up-scale tattoo and piercing place and even has a cool aquarium. As far as the piercing went, it was a basic job but they did a very good job of making the person comfortable, and providing very clear after-care instruction to ensure it healed correctly.
