Decent place but overall our group was not very pleased with the service. We came in with a large group of 14 so they ushered us into the 2nd tasting room which looks to be used for private functions etc and not into the normal tasting room. The tasting started out okay but the two ladies inside were having some sort of mid crises as our tastings progressed the quality went south quick as my gf was on her 7th tasting and I had barely received 2. Then a second large group came in and you can forget about me getting the rest of my tastings. We eventually just left. it was a good thing we decided to sit outside open up some wines (from different wineries) and have lunch. My GF actually told me should would have been pissed if i bought any from this place. None of the women liked the two older ladies that poured our flights and it made perfect sense as every time they would let them know a large group was coming they only asked if there were any good looking men in the group and if they were single. This was the wifes pick of the two cellars we went to (the other being my pick which was Justin) while in Cambria. I had not heard of them before but our neighbors brought a bottle over and we really enjoyed it. The facility is really neat, and I was told they had a pig, but evidently it passed a way several months ago.. The inside was really neat, having all the typical wine celler stuff like sauces and pastas. One thing I really appreciated, was the tasting fee was free for 1-3 tastes and $3 for a flight of 7, which would be refunded when you bought something... I thought that was a classy stance and ended up costing me $100 for 4 bottles.. Not too bad. read more

Friendly staff, gorgeous grounds, excellent wine! You will not go wrong visiting the beaver. Been here a couple of times and I never leave empty handed. The Trenta was the best blend I've ever had here. If it's available, do buy a few bottles. You can also never go wrong buying a jar of the Frog Balls. Those spicy pickled brussels sprouts were a knockout. Once you pry yourself away from the tasting room, wander around the property and spot the cats. read more

This was our second tasting on the Grapeline, and we LOVED it! (*Disclaimer: the four wineries we visited on the Grapeline are blurring together for obvious reasons, but I will do my best on differentiating in reviews.) Seriously, the scenery here is BEAUTIFUL. There were lots of tables set up, I'm not sure if a special event was scheduled. But we fortunately were able to enjoy our lunch on some of these tables, to enjoy the view. The wine was good, I got a glass of Chardonnay to accompany my lunch. We ended up not buying any wine here, so it wasn't fabulous, but the service and scenery earns this place five stars. Also, their rates are great (3 tastings complimentary, and $3 for 7 - waived if you buy a bottle!), but our tasting came with the Grapeline fees. And if I remember correctly... the tastings weren't set, so you were able to pick all of your wines that you wanted to taste from (what I think was) almost their whole selection. So convenient! Highly recommended, especially if you need a nice picnic lunch stop. read more

We've been coming into this area for over 10 years and Castoro is an easy reach on Highway 46. We regularly stop in to taste and we tend to buy a mixed case each time. Funny how we haven't joined their wine club. LOL. We've seen Sherry for a good many years and she is always great to have pour wines and answer any questions we may have. This past time we not only tasted the wines but went through the various mustards they have on the shelf. Very tasty and we managed to get a good handful to bring back for ourselves and as gifts. We thoroughly enjoy many of the reds and their grape juice. Prices are reasonable and the service is first rate. Fun winery. We came on a rainy Sunday and enjoyed a barrel tasting, lunch ($7 grilled flatbread and $3 pasta salad- good price!) and live music. Make sure you locate the "library tasting." That's the good stuff. There is a separate HUGE tasting list of pretty affordable wines. We weren't very impressed with most of them, but as a destination, the overall experience is definitely worthwhile. read more

One of the many, many big boys in terms of wine production but still a goodie to visit. Like most wine tasting rooms it's decorated in that Tuscan vibe perfect for the truckloads of tourists that come rumbling by. However, the tasting room ladies were attentive and super nice. How can anyone be dissappointed by a nice older lady serving you wine with The Beatles playing softly in the background??? We ended up getting a huge tasting for free and got a bottle of their 2011 estate cab. This ended up being my favorite and was a bargain at $16. Castoro is one to stop by on your way in or our of Paso. As my fellow a yelper friend Dennis told me, they might be big but sometimes they have a gem that you just have to take home. read more

We had such a great experience tasting at Castoro. It was a full bar, but Sherry acknowledged and welcomed us right away. Sherry's service was a huge bonus to our tasting experience- she shared tasting tips and great wine knowledge. I love that we each got to pick and taste wines we wanted to try (you get to pick 7 tastes out of about 10-12 wines). Great variety of wines and we left with some summer choices that will compliment our nights at music in the park. Castoro! I love you! This was the first winery ever that I had my wine tasting at. Came during the week of the mid county fair 2015. We took a jeep tour here and a lovely lady here took the time to educate us on tasting wine and learning to use our palette even though she had not served us originally. The Muscat Canelli 2013 -??- is my all time favorite semi sweet white wine and at $9 a bottle, can't beat that! Had the Muscat at other wineries on the tour and there is no other quite like yours. I'll be ordering a few boxes for my wedding! It is beautiful here! The main entrance has grapevines full of grapes all the way through. There's plenty of shade and cute little designated seating areas for you to enjoy your wine. You can walk through the vineyard without complications. read more

Lovely place, lovely wine. Decent prices for great quality wine. Staff is trained and they obviously love their work. Their patio is dog and child- friendly. In the parking lot you can find Tesla chargers and one of them also has a charger that fits my Volvo We had a lovely picnic lunch on NYE and enjoyed the view from a picnic table where we soaked sunshine. They sell cheeses and cold cuts. The mufaletta was delicious too. I didn't see bread loafs but we managed with crackers. read more

I don't normally taste at the larger wineries (This one produces 20,000 cases per year) however, I really wanted to start tasting some wine so I decided to make this my first stop. This winery is open at 10am. We were out early and weren't sure if others would be open yet so we stopped here. What a great move that was. 3 tastes are complimentary, and 7 tastes are $3, waived if you make a purchase. It was a very full taste as the pours were generous and our person was so nice. We ended up getting a blend bottle and believe it or not, a bottle of grape juice. We also got a vinegrette salad dressing. We have yet to try the dressing, but the grape juice was amazing. Outside the atmosphere is great as you are surrounded by vines and walking up with the Zin troth is a great photo opportunity. Inside was little busy and a little cluttered. Now let's talk about the wine. We started with a unique white varietal that you don't see much in other places and reminded me of an Albranio with a little less acid. The white blend of Chardonnay and Viognier had a great combination of oak, fruit and butter. Grenache had great fruit with not much of an lingering finish. Great to start with. I've been to this winery three times in the past year! I didn't want to come back the third time because I just wasn't feeling it anymore but I'm so glad I did! The first two times I came, we did our tasting inside. The younger male that helps us is really nice and he knows a lot about the wines. I always feel super educated after talking to him, so if you guys want to know more about how they grow their wines etc, you should talk to him! If you have a designated driver that shouldn't be drinking, ask the winery about their grape juice! I'm such a huge fan! I always buy 2 bottles when I'm here. It's so tasty. The person that helped us called it "premature wine." The wine tasting fee is $3 dollars for 7 tastings and free for 3 tastings. They have 10 different wines on the tasting list so you have to look at the list and pick. I really like most of their wines! The view is amazing also! The first two times I went here, we would check it out after we were done tasting all 7 of the wines. I'm the type of person that likes to drink her wine and walk around while looking at the scenery. So here comes the moment that I tell you guys why I gave them 5 stars on YELP! For my third visit, it was so packed inside that we had OUR WINE TASTING OUTSIDE!! I didn't even know they had this back area. It was so pretty and fun! I highly recommend coming here with a group of friends and asking the workers if you can do your wine tasting outside! Had a wine tasting voucher here from Cambria Pines Lodge, and while I was pregnant at the time and unable to taste, my husband and brother-in-law took advantage of the selections. The unfortunate part of tasting 7 wines so quickly one after the other, is that it's hard to discern between them all and they seem to run together in your memory. There were a few good ones in there though, and I thought it very sweet that the lady offered me a glass of their pregnancy-friendly grape juice to taste. Probably our favorite winery ever. $10 gets you 7 generous tastes of their wide variety of wonderful wines. A little secret--the Trader Joe's coastal wines are made by Castoro. Yippee! I lean more towards whites in spring and summer and there are lots to choose from on the tasting menu, while my husband leans more towards red and has plentiful options, too. A little something for everyone. Many of their grapes are organic and this winery is eco-conscious, which I appreciate. Our kids enjoyed tasting the classiest grape juice, which Castoro makes for the express purpose of having something delicious to offer kids, DD's, and preggos--how thoughtful! I have been coming to Castoro with my parents since I was a kid! So it seems appropriate now that I'm an adult, that Castoro is still one of my favorite wineries on the Central Coast. I came up this past weekend with some girlfriends and we had a great time. The property is really lovely, they have a great tasting room with friendly staff, and come on, 7 tastings for $5. They also waive the tasting fee if you buy any bottle. Castoro has maintained its integrity over the years and doesn't feel like one of the giant corporate wineries with no heart. We had a wonderful visit to Castoro. We checked in on Yelp and received free tastings and 10% off our purchase! In addition to that they have a Tesla destination charger so we were able to get some electrons while we were enjoying their lovely wines. It's a beautiful property, the entrance is breathtaking with an arbor of grape vines you pass through. Very impressive! I love reds but Lauren spoke highly of the whites that had just been released so we tried a few of them as well and ended up buying a bottle of Falanghina and enjoyed a glass sitting outside. Simply beautiful! My girlfriend just had her wedding here. Everything was perfect. We showed up a little early for some wine tasting. 7 tastings for $5! The customer service was great. I don't remember the lady who helped up but we were a group of 6 and she was very patient and kind explaining each bottle of wine to us. The views are spectacular and great for pictures. While we were waiting for the ceremony to start I may have done mini photo shoot lol. I will definitely be visiting again. read more

Our new favorite stop! Stopped at this winery this past weekend and it is absolutely gorgeous! You enter the property through an arch way completely covered in vines! Incredibly friendly staff, Kate L was our pourer and was so sweet! We even signed up for their wine club! Delicious wines, beautiful property, disc golf course, and they have a pizza oven!
