This is a cute little store. They sold many mail options in the freezer area, making it super convenient to have fresh foods at home. They also offer items in the refrigerator cases and fresh sandwiches as well as grocery items. It is tucked away in the back with a small parking lot. You can order delivery from them as well. I purchased frozen garlic bread, chicken and biscuits, and an orzo salad with grilled salmon. The chicken and biscuits are really good and the orzo salad with salmon was excellent. read more

How much chicken do you suppose they cook? Is it enough chicken to know how to NOT OVERCOOK IT? I had a casserole from them. They must have fully cooked or overcooked the chicken breast before they put it in the casserole. Then, they give instructions to bake it for an an hour prior to serving. Can you imagine what this does to chicken? It results in what I can only describe as poultry leather. This has happened to me more than once. Now I know better. To the staff, can you please find a way to fix this? I'm sure there's some food service rule about how to safely serve chicken. If there is, you need to figure it out...or stop serving poultry leather. This is my STRONG suggestion. Randomly take something with cooked chicken in it from your shelves home, cook it using your heating directions, and then try to enjoy it. May god be with you. Your casseroles aren't cheap. Popped in here last night, too tired after work to cook. Nabbed a fresh sourdough loaf from Little Tart Bakery, a small container of sloppy joes, frozen southern squash casserole, and loaded vegetable enchiladas. Voila! We are set for DAYS. We were "clued in" to Casseroles by a friend a year ago. A serious Illness when we needed help with meals was the motivating factor, but it is the food that keeps us coming back--again and again and again. And we are not strangers to the kitchen, so our standards are reasonably high and most take-out doesn't get there. But Casseroles delivers on all counts. It is always interesting to see what comes home. Most important almost every time it is excellent, to the point that now we simply turn to their menu for a special treat. And the portions: someone there needs a recalibration on what a serving for two looks like!!! More often than not "two" could serve four or six. It certainly can be enough for more lunches and dinners for the week. This praise is coming for a home where daily meal preparation was always a matter of personal pride, so making way for someone else to lend us a hand from time says a lot. It's perfect for an easy dinner and it's not like a frozen "family" overly processed meal like you would find in the frozen section of the grocery store. I wish I could give Casseroles 10 stars. This place is a godsend. They make the healthiest things taste like an indulgence. They make the indulgent things taste healthy (while still being indulgent). We were gifted a Chicken Stew with Biscuits right after we had a baby, and were immediately hooked. We now have something from Casseroles at least once a month, and I try to keep one or two in the freezer at all times. It's so helpful for a busy family, or a last minute dinner party. I went with one made that day. *Classic Beef Bolognese Lasagna: According to their website, this dish is made with house-made rich, tomato sauce with sautéed beef, minced carrots, celery and onions, Ricotta & Mozzarella cheese, layered between lasagna noodles, and topped with parmesan. But all you really have to know that it's super tasty, and my boo-thang and I could only eat half of it. Casserole also provides complimentary ginger cookies, and they're delicious. So, if you see them, feel free to take a trip to #carbcity. II. SERVICE There may not be someone at the counter, so you might have to shout to open the kitchen doors to get someone. The person I chatted with was very nice. III. ATMOSPHERE/ DÉCOR Find this biz behind the building across the street from Alon's Bakery. There's a sign on the right of the building. Follow the driveway to the back. Upon entering, you'll find a small room where, as I mentioned, the cookies reside. There's also a small fridge to buy local greens that come from a local farmers market, pans, mugs, and other cutesy local goods. IV. PRICES I do think that $19 for their small is quite expensive. Maybe if it was around $15, it would be a bit more reasonable. But then again, if it saves you a lot of time, then spending a few dollars more for a non-frozen, bake-only meal is not bad. I can see it going either way, and I really think it depends how much you don't want to invest in cooking. V. This place was a little hard to find, but is located behind and down stairs from then stores on North Highland (Across from Alon's) and totally worth the effort. The owners were both SUPER nice, the store and kitchen were amazingly clean and the 3 dishes that we got were so good I can't believe they were frozen. Apparently you can also call a few hours ahead and they will have your items cooked and hot for you to pick up. This place is our new secret weapon for dinner parties and nights when we don't feel like cooking but want something better than pizza. read more

I love to bring dinner to friends that need to be loved on but it can be hard to find the time to prepare home cooked meals and then fight traffic to get it there by dinner time. What a delightful place! My wife and I got into the habit of picking up a main course for dinner from Alon's most evenings, but we're going to have to cut back so we can work Casseroles into our routine. We tried the ratatouille and polenta first: its only drawback is that it is prepared as a vegan dish. Add a little cheese and it's perfect. The eggplant parmesan is delectable exactly as it is. You get what you pay for in terms of portions; we're going to have a hard time getting through a medium without giving some away. They also stock some fantastic whoopie pies (from a third party, I think). One time when I got a hankering for some and dropped by right at closing, the proprietor just gave me a couple for free. They are seriously nice here, and the food is both delicious and reasonably priced. What's not to like? Plus, navigating the narrow and steep driveway to get in and out will certainly stimulate your sense of adventure. read more

My wife first mentioned this place to me a couple of months ago. At first, I was sort of skeptical. I think most of us are. She brought home the meatloaf one night and we were both in amazement of how delicous it was. It was as if we were eating at a nice restaurant. The food was fresh and so well put together. We were hooked, so my wife went back and bought several more different dishes. One of the coolest parts is that we can freeze everything, so it's as simple as buying as many casseroles as you'd like and then putting them in your freezer. When you want one, you just put in in the over for about 2hrs and dinner is ready! ALL of the casseroles have been amazing - I was expecting some disappointments along the way, but I have yet to eat anything that I didn't love. The service and preparation of the food is also top notch. This is a high class, well thought business that is well executed by the founder - We love yall, so please keep up the great work. You fill a need for all of us busy worker bees trying to feed our family a warm, homemade meal without the headache of actually doing it. read more

Had the Chicken & Biscuits and the Smoked Gouda Mac N Cheese. I ended up not being a huge fan of the gouda, but I'd like to try the 4-cheese one and see if I like that better. The chicken and biscuits ended up being a tasty way for me to actually eat my vegetables. Great way to pick up a quick, hearty meal on the way home. You can most of them either frozen or not. My husband and I got a 2-3 days out of each meal and I had bought the Small sizes. Each was about $17. Make sure you know to go behind the strip mall to get to them. Staff was super friendly. I have to update my previous review as it's been a few years and I'm still as big a fan of "Casseroles" as I was before. I have also discovered other great ways to use Classic Casseroles! It's great to give for a new baby to a family, goes in the freezer and they can pull it out when they want it! But that's old news. I've found these casseroles are not only fantastic for holidays, but are great for travel vacations! We generally don't stay in hotels when we go on vacation but rent houses for the whole family either at the lake, the beach, the mountains, and I always pack a whole bunch of frozen casseroles to take with us. They are frozen solid, so they go in a freezer bag or cooler and make the trip easily and beautifully! And then I don't have to cook or go grocery shopping on vacation, I just preheat the oven and pop in a casserole! French toast or quiche for breakfast, Shrimp and Grits or chicken and biscuits for dinner! The veggie casseroles make a nice side if you get some rotisserie chickens from the store! Easy to cook, you don't have to worry if your rental house will have the necessary pots, pans, spices, ingredients, and everything you need to cook for your family on vacation! So just get some casseroles for your next family vacation and have a wonderful home cooked meal with no work and no fuss! read more

I luckily stumbled on this place. A regular helped me understand how to order(It isn't really that hard). You pick the item you want, pick the size, pay, receive frozen food w/ cooking instructions. I had the Shrimp & Grits with Andouille Sausage, Red Onion-Cheddar Cheese Biscuits, and Stuffed Jalapeno(a special for the NFC championship). All were delish and easy to cook. I recommend Casseroles over meal delivery companies (I've tried blue apron and hellofresh) since it is local, tasted better, and better value. Downsides were the food sometimes takes a while to cook(Shrimp & grits took just under an hour when thawed) and if you enjoy the act of cooking you'll be upset with the "heat and serve" instructions. read more

After we had our first baby, Casseroles saved my life!! Cooking was just not on the agenda anymore and we found out about this little hidden morning side gem at just the right time. This is a very well-thought out business and i wish it never goes away. The casserole lady is super nice and prepares casseroles to go, that you can pick up either frozen, defrosted, or fully warmed/baked and ready to eat. They're so good, we usually have 1-2 a week. The portion sizes are great. a small casserole is easily 3 (possibly 4) portions. you can pick up bread and salad (and sundry desserts such as whoopie pies, cookies, if you are so inclined) so its a one-stop shop. The casseroles aren't always low calorie, but they're way healthier and less expensive compared to a lot of takeout. Also makes a great present for a sick friend, a family with a new baby, etc. The variety is great, and with the exception of some standard items, is always changing. Of the standard items, the Eggplant Parmesan, Beef Lasagna and Chicken and Biscuits are spectacular. Of the specials, was blown away with the Lamb Pastitsio and the beef bourgiugnion (?sp).There is even french toast casserole, with a nutmeg/cinnamon custard with a pecan praline topping that is also pretty great but not phenomenal, and I'm glad its not because that would end up being a regular weekend brunch thing. Which would take a lot of burpees to burn off... Bottom line, go here. Get some casseroles. read more

I don't know why I haven't reviewed this place yet. Every time I have the urge for homemade good I head to Casseroles. My go-to is chicken and biscuits...it's like a disassembled chicken pot pie (yum), and way more than my husband and I can eat alone. But my recent personal favorite is the MEATBALLS!! Holy moly they come in sauce so they're marinated when you get them. Once you've heated them up on the stove they're restaurant quality. I can't enough. Almost always amazing food. Fully cooked (but sold frozen for reheating in your own kitchen) casserole style meals. My all time favorite is chicken and dumplings, with drop-biscuit type dumplings. I have had three or so bad experiences over the years: misinformation (for example, telling me a favorite dish would be available in a couple of days, then, on the appointed day telling me the dish sold out and that I "should have reserved" - as if I'd known that was an option!) and with food quality control (my family found exactly two chunks of chicken in a $30 chicken and dumplings casserole. Overall, the place is a winner. read more
