Have tried this place a few times as honestly I want to like it. However poor service, understaffing at the bar during any meaningful sporting event. Stand there for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement from bartenders. Bartenders are not friendly Food is adequate at best and too pricey. Many other good spots to watch a game in Marshfield with friendly. timely service and better food like Haddads, The Tavern, Venus. I think we are done trying this place hoping it would improve after its growing pain phase. Obviously the management doesn't care about the issues and they are reveling within the novelty phase of a new resteraunt. Eventually that wears off and they might be in trouble despite all the TVs read more

Great sports bar unless it is raining and they lose the directv satellite like last night during Bruins game 4 win over Pittsburgh. So def go to watch the big game unless it is raining then go somewhere else read more

Great selection of food. Perfect for children/families as many of the booths have their own television at the table (built in the wall) and the ability to change the channel and volume. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the price of their sodas - $3.75 for a soda with free refills is a little too much for syrup and water. A beer can be had for a little more than that. read more

Love cask. Large diverse menu. Most of the meals have been very good. Service is usually good. Great for families or guys watching a game.

$18 for one lonely crab cake, 2 cherry tomatoes, and some greens? Hardly an entree salad, definitely overpriced.

It's okay. If you're going to watch a game, then it's great. If you're going for the food, you could do a heck of a lot better (unless of course, you have mediocre taste). The food is average at best. If you go and sit at the bar, be prepared to wait A LONG TIME for a drink. Some nights they only have 2 people working the bar that is full of customers. The bartenders aren't that friendly either. They are young and seem somewhat inexperienced. The waitstaff at the tables are pretty good. It's an average to below average experience but if you don't have high expectations, then you'll be just fine. read more

I think the food is okay. Some times it gets really loud at the restaurant because of all the drunk people , and babies

I rarely take the time to write a review unless an establishment is either really good, or really bad.. But for the money they charge (Maybe this is simply a Marshfield thing) this place just isn't worth going to. I'm hopeful of saving another couple from a truly disappointing lunch. We had two iced teas, a chicken kabob and a Reuben sandwich. Including a $5 tip, our bill was $42. That's a lot for a less than great lunch. We get better food, value and environment at The Charlie Horse or The 99 Restaurant. Maybe this is a fun place to go at night for drinks and to watch a game with your drinking buddies, or for singles to mix at night...but not a place to visit for a nice meal with your wife or family. read more

Had the bar-b-que chicken and corn fritters. Way to much bar-b-que sauce all over the chicken.Had to scrape it off. Corn fritters mushy and doughy.Side order of mac and cheese which was a little dry and sticky. Very loud music playing over all the tv's. Overpriced. Sunday Afternoon, before the game. Way too loud in the dining room. Saw a family get up and leave before they ordered. They said it was way too loud. Went a week ago got the tailgait special..again..just swimming in bar-b-que sauce. Had to scrape it off. Probably won't go back unless they get cheaper prices and a better menu and lower the volumn on the music and tv's. read more

Was very excited about a Cask n Flagon being built right down the road in a building that failed at everything else. Great expectations. Waited until the hype died down and took the girlfriend. Maybe it's me but we walked in and there was no atmosphere, just masses of TV's on every surface available....Sensory Overload. Not a seat to be had at the main bar and we had only stopped in for a quick lunch so we went to the smaller bar in the back but had to take a pub table. Very nondescript interior. Took the waiter a bit to see us but didn't mind as it was busy. Offered us a drink menu and food menus, looked at the imports and specialty beers and couldn't bring myself to pay the prices. Got a $5.25 Bud Lite and splurged on the girlfriend's Corona a bit more. Sat afterwards and looked over menu...there the sticker shock set in. For what they had the prices were outrageous. This, people, is not Boston...it's Marshfield, a working man's community where they were in desperate need of a nice place to hang out with friends, get some great food and have plenty of atmosphere and be somewhat weekly affordable by the middle class. (Fail). Finished our drinks, apologized to the waiter and went to the 99. Awesome steak tips, premium beers $5.25 (tall), 3 course meals for under $10, more atmosphere and the ability to hold a conversation without the distraction of hundreds of tv's. Still can't understand the attraction of the Cask n Flagon, it's the place to be if you're anyone (fitting in). Hope the prices come down along with some TV's. Had higher hopes.. read more

Great place to hang with friends and catch a game...... Awesome food and great service..... Best ribs in town hands down.

The manager Joe should learn how to be a manager. It's too bad it is such an unfriendly place because our waiter was awesome and our food was delicious. Based on Manager Joes views.... Children should not be allowed in restaraunts! Beware not very family friendly! read more

This place has some pretty good good my favorite is the chicken focaccia sandwich the chicken piccata is also delicious sometime the presentation is sloppy and fries are mushy but overall good experince read more

The steak tips were good along with the buffalo tenders. The atmosphere was fun. It really is a fun place to hang out with friends and watch sporting games. Really enjoyed the cold beers at the bar. Cant wait to go back read more

Was so fired up after my last visit here I had to wait this long to post a review. The last week of August, I came with 5 friends here for a late night drink. We are all natives from the area and love the Cask location in Boston. This visit was a Friday night around 11pm. We initially asked the hostess for a table and sat there for a few minutes with no service. Now let me preface this by saying the place was DEAD. The tables were empty, and the bar had only about 10 patrons around it. There were 2 or 3 bartenders working and one barback. After having no one greet us at the table, we stood up and decided to just order at the bar instead and take our drinks outside to the faux-fire pit (which we were excited about...that was a really nice feature actually but it kept shutting off every 3-8 minutes in a very annoying fashion). So this group of 6 of us walks up to the bar. This wasn't a situation where one person gets lost in the hustle bustle of a busy bar scene, which this was not, but 6 new thirsty people looking for a drink. Another few minutes went by and the bartenders were all talking amongst themselves in the middle of the bar. I ended up flagging down the barback as he left the bar. I asked him if we could please get some service as no one had even greeted us, let alone looked our way. He advised me he was the barback but went and told the guy bartender we were here. Another few minutes passed without anything. Finally, I all but hopped over the bar waving at the guy bartender. He was so rude, didn't even apologize for making us wait, even after I brought it to his attention that we had been waiting for quite some time. He grumpily made our drinks, not even putting straws or garnishes into the cocktails that were ordered. I work in the industry and hate nothing more than bad service. But this was over the top. I hope the manager reads this and takes action keeping a better eye on the type of service the bartenders are providing, because especially on a slow night like that was, is unacceptable. This visit certainly will deter me from recommending this location and also coming back anytime soon. read more

I am not planning on going back. The bar servers are very inattentive. They seem more concerned about stocking than the customers. The same bartender never waited on us, so they have no clue what you are drinking or when you may need another. The North-end Nachos are like deep fried taco shells - heavy and oily. The Combo platter had buffalo chicken dip that tasted like all salt. It was not busy when we were there. I told the manager about my experience. He said he wanted me to come back and ask for him, he would be sure I would have a better experience. He was a nice guy, but I am not sure he convinced me. I have several friends who told me they have no interest in going back again, after tonight I see why. I love the atmosphere and the TVs, but other than that the bar and app experience is not good at all. Healthier appetizers would be a good idea too. I have not tried sitting down for dinner here, so I cannot comment on that piece. read more

Went on a Sunday about 5 p.m. Pretty full with big bar crowd. Had been here once before and had a burger which was fine. Got more "adventurous" this time. Started with the Malaysian Style Ribs appetizer and shared them with husband and other couple....we all agreed they were tasty, tender and delicious. Made a big mistake after that and didn't stick with a burger like last time. Ordered Chicken Parm. Had no expectations that it would taste like a North End meal but DID think it would be much better than my dear, late Irish mother's which was a can of tomato soup poured over spaghetti. Sauce tasted just like that....a can of Campbell's tomato soup. Gross. Ate some of it, brought the rest home for the dog. He's not picky. Nobody in our group of 4 voiced any raves about their selections either..fish and chips and veggie burger... and left food on their plates. On the plus side, service was acceptable as it was the last time we were there. If you go there, be realistic and stick to their wide beer selection and decent burgers and you'll be happy. Sports fans will enjoy their 5,000 TV's. read more

Perhaps the worst experience in a bar /restaurant ever. Went for lunch with a friend and to watch playoff football. Female bartender tried padding the bill with food we didn't order and then made a huge scene saying that we didn't give her enough money to cover the bill. Was so humiliated when even after she took the food off the bill and paid the adjusted bill with more than enough to cover the bill and tip she chased me down and proceeded to cause a scene in front of the two managers and scores of customers who were on present. The managers seemed indifferent to the situation leading me to believe that padding bills and robbing customers is sop. They told me this was an excellent training opportunity which I found offensive. They offered nothing for the scene their employee initiated and showed very little concern for what transpired. I would check your bill very carefully to make sure what you order is what you get and not pay for whatever they feel like tagging on your bill. My other regret is that I actually didn't demand the tip back from this little thief they call a bartender. read more

No offense, Cask 'n Flagon, but I had very low expectations of you. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food here. The pretzel bread, for starters, is awesome - it comes with some sort of mustard-butter, and it's far superior to standard bread and butter. I got a bloody mary, and it was perfectly made - with just the right amount of spice. For my meal, I got a veggie burger, and it was honestly one of the best veggie burgers I've had. They subbed my fries for veggies without hesitation. My husband got a blacked chicken caesar - I tried a bite, and the chicken was awesome. Each booth has its own tv, which is great - though I don't typically watch tv while I dine, nor do I condone my little one vegging out in front of the tv for hours at home, it was a nice distraction for him while we enjoyed our lunch. The beer menu was pretty extensive, and there were some ridiculous sounding things on the dessert menu that I would have happily indulged in if I wasn't carrying around this stubborn baby weight :) read more

Very disappointing have been here 3 times in the last year and that is it for us. We have given it a good try but rude staff, dirty restrooms, floors, tables and the food was less than desirable. NBA all star game on that night, had to ask bartender to put it on and he had no idea what the NBA game was??? Sports bar. . . Hello?! Ordered a dirty martini requested olives, came with no olives, had to ask a second time for olives. . . we ordered nachos with no onions(came with onions) had to ask for utensils, ordered lighter fare chicken dish, broccoli was old, brown, luke warm, not edible, half of the smallest sweet potato on the plate with no accompaniment i.e.: butter, sour cream . . . a single chicken breast which actually was good, hence the 1 star. Fish tacos- flour tortillas were hard probably because the food sat under a heat lamp for too long. When we finished our nachos the dirty plates were not removed until we had to ask and our food took a long time on top of waiting it was dropped and server ran not asking if we needed anything else. Had to flag her down to tell her the fries were cold she reordered more but we got them when we were all finished. Sat for an eternity to get our check (also to even be waited on to start). Just an unpleasant experience for the 3rd time. Too many issues. Such a perfect spot could be so much better. I blame management and owners. read more

This is my favorite sports bar in the area. There are plenty of huge TVs around the bar area, so if theres a game you're trying to watch you will be able to see it. The food is delicious, especially for a sports bar. I always order the buffalo chicken dip to start and it is amazing. Turkey tips are among my favorites, although I have truly never had a bad meal here. I really like all the bar tenders as well. Service is great. The only downside of this location is how busy it is during Patriots games or on the weekends. I usually go in on a Monday or Tuesday night and never have an issue. Once I tried stopping in on a Friday night and the place was a zoo. They have free valet parking on weekends and big sports games. Although this seems helpful, I feel as though it allows the restaurant to get a bit over crowded. I would definitely recommend this location to everyone, my only advice would be to avoid the chaotic nights. read more

nothing more than a bar good for drinks and watching sports. got the pulled pork sandwich which they claim is smoked for 8 hours or something like that. this is just a blatant lie. there was absolutely no smokey flavor and the bbq left something to be desired. i enjoy a good bbq pulled pork sandwich and this wasn't it. i actually took it home, made my own vinegar based bbq sauce the next day and finished it. sad that i can make better bqq sauce than a restaurant that claims to have a popular bbq. the coleslaw had too much mayo and not enough tang. all in all i wouldn't recommend the bbq here. stick to the fish & chips, that is if the strong smell of fish upon entering the restaurant doesn't deter you. read more
