Went to cask and flagon again less than a week after my first visit. Saturday late afternoon lunch at 2:30. Got seated quickly by friendly waitstaff. Again, smiles and just so pleasant, same as last time. Atmosphere was comfortable and not too loud. Even w all the TV's and filled tables. Easy to have a conversation. I started with the Sangria Flora, which was so good. The pretzel w dips was excellent! Loved the 3 warm dips! Sweet mustard, beer cheese and buffalo beer cheese, addicting, could have order a 2nd pretzel easily w dips like that. Caesar salad w blackened chicken delicious. Homemade Caesar dressing was very good, in between a creamy/non creamy texture. Chicken very flavorful. Grilled chicken w veggies and sweet potatoes got excellent reviews from husband, chicken was very tender. Another good experience! read more

Came here for a private event in the function hall, which was the perfect space for it. Plenty of space and high top tables to utilize. There was a taco bar, and all ingredients were solid. The drinks and bar service were very good. This location is very different than the one in Boston. This one seems nice in the sense that it is less bar-like and more well-kept. I'd definitely recommended this place at least for private events although I'm sure the regular dining would be good as well. read more

The steak tips were mediocre at best, and the mashed potatoes were awful. I think they may have gone bad or something. I couldn't even eat them. The worst part was that they tried (and succeeded) to charge me for more beers than I actually had. Me and my friend were shocked. When I asked to speak to the manager he was like a guard at Buckingham Palace. I asked him to review the cameras to prove the bill was wrong so I didn't have to pay for the beers I never drank, and he said there were no security cameras in the restaurant. I highly doubt that. They just ripped us off and there was nothing we could do about it. read more

I had a baby shower here for my daughter. The event specialists (so sorry I forgot her name) was tremendously helpful and accommodating. The food was great and it turned out well! The price was extremely fair too. The event room has its own bar area right outside the glass doors which was nice. The event room is not very large but you do get to use the attached outside patio that proved to be very helpful and enjoyable. The ONLY suggestion that I would make is to mark off some parking spaces for events for the older peeps. Although they have tons of parking in the back, it is a busy restaurant. read more

Ehhhh. Everything about this place is just OK. It sounds better in theory than it actually is in reality. Even though there are TVs everywhere, you have to be seated in the "right spot" to see the game you want. And the food isn't anything to write home about either... On my last visit here, my husband and I were able to snag seats right in the middle of the bar. The BBQ seemed to be highlighted in the middle of the menu so we decided to split a platter with brisket, pork belly burnt ends, baked beans, mac & cheese and cornbread. Calling this a "platter" on the menu is a major overstatement. Granted there was a variety of food, we felt the portion sizes were too small to share (and also small for the price). While I am by no means a BBQ expert, this one didn't do it for me. Everything tasted mushy, both in texture and flavor. Right next to Fenway is Cask'n Flagon the place to go if you want to get a full meal before the game and that is what me and my friend did. Our server was soo nice and everyone that attended us was also nice and friendly. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and mains. To drink I had the refreshing Sangria Flora. Made with Sauvignon Blanc, St. Germaine elderflower, fresh strawberry, and peach purée. The peach flavor is a fun twist in the sangria combined with the fresh strawberries is a spring and summer must-have. For our appetizer, we had the Buffalo Chicken Dip. Made with Roasted chicken in a cheese dip with crumbled blue cheese served in a toasted bread bowl and with crispy tortilla chips. I don't have a high tolerance for "spicy" foods so the Buffalo in this dip was a bit intense for me. As my main, I had the Barbecue Pulled Pork from Cask 'n Flagon. This pulled pork is slowed smoked for seven hours, then pulled with cask BBQ sauce. The pork is tender, juicy, and crisp. The sweet potato fries are fresh and crispy. The mashed potatoes taste homemade and creamy. The cornbread is a nice pairing and it has corn pieces inside. read more

We shared some yummy nachos topped with chicken.. I can't eat cilantro so I asked for things to be put on the side so I too could enjoy them and they were happy to comply. 1 burger 1 french onion soup Fish tacos Buffalo chicken wrap Nobody had any complaints.. I foolishly neglected to take photos and when I thought of it everyone had already started to devour their meals.. we were all hungry. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside.. so clean and spacious. They have a huge bar which I imagine is packed evenings. This restaurant is a solid 3 stars. Service was good. Beer menu is still excellent. Plenty of non alcoholic options, including Guinness. Little pricey though at $9.75 per can For dinner I got the surf and turf special which came with a small filet and two stuffed jumbo shrimp alongside asparagus and mashed potatoes. The shrimp were fine, but I felt the steak was slightly overcooked and didn't have much flavor. I needed A1 sauce which is a criticism. The asparagus was okay and the mash was very good. But overall the dish was mediocre and I wouldn't get it again. Overall this place is reasonably priced and has plenty of TV so I'll probably be back. read more

I labored over this. Have had pretty OK meals here. Have had fish and chips and enjoyed them previously. Kids love the atmosphere, and all the TVs. To be honest they really don't eat or care for the food. Walked in on a Friday. Group of five, two adults and three kids. Was busy, but 0 minute wait. Waited over 30-min for the food. Wasn't the end of the world, but most everything was cold or cool, at best. Manager delivered my food, which was there approach to reducing cross contamination. My stomach feels like that was a failure. I got the BBQ platter with ribs and brisket. Hands down the worst BBQ I've had. Even if it was warm or hot it would have been terrible. Said TX style, which is usually a dry rub and no sauce. This was not like that. Fries were hot and delicious, but likely where the potential for contamination comes in. Wifey had a salad with steak tips. I didn't try it, but steak looked to have the same BBQ sauce. Salad was consumed only. Service was abysmal. Fairly certain the food was just sitting someplace and our waitress was focused on slinging drinks. It was Friday afterall. Brought my appetizer same time as the food. Ended up eating that and little of the BBQ platter. I told her it was cold. Ultimately she offered me a box to take it home. If 2.5 stars was an option I'd be there. 3 feels like too many and two not enough. I'm going 3 out of respect for past experiences. Will be a considerably long time before we return. read more

I wish I could do -5 stars on this poor excuse for a restaurant. A few friends and I went in for lunch after a charity 5k for our school district looking for a bite to eat after a long day. We went to order after a few laughs and the waiter claimed he could not serve us because it would not be safe. Curious as to why he made that assumption because we were sober having a good laugh. After a long day we just wanted some grub but apparently if you have a sense of humor you cannot dine here. Laughter is confused with intoxication. My family and I were extremely embarrassed and saddened by this poor assessment. I strongly recommend NOT going here if you are looking for a good time. I order from the Cask at least 1-3 times a week because it is nearby. The food is mediocre but affordable. However, 9 out of 10 times they forget an item or ignore instructions. Due to food allergies I am unable to eat the unmodified food. I typically go back for missing items but when they totally screw it up I don't bother. The manager I spoke to this evening about my botched order did not listen and just talked over me. I would save your money and not get takeout from this establishment. The most underrated bar on the South Shore. The Cask is not just a great sports bar, but they're an exceptional spot for anyone looking for a fun spot to enjoy some time to unwind while taking in some games and great company. They have great variety in their menu, but what makes the Cask one of the top bars on my list are the great bartenders and servers who add a lot of fun to the experience, even in the later hours which many other bars don't offer service. It's consistently a great time there and this year will be an awesome spot for Olympics, football, nba playoffs and more! Even more fun, this past week they've started trivia which was a great time competing against friends and winning against others. Kayley, Trin and Tommy were five out of five stars running the show! And shout out to all the other great bartenders and servers throughout as well; Alyssa, Nicole, Norman, Kate, Liz, Nate, Jillian, Ashley, Kevin, Desiree and so many more! Made reservations for dinner and drinks on a Friday night at 6:30 and we were lucky we made reservations. Parking lot was PACKED and lots of people waiting around the hostess to be seated. Atmosphere is loud and lively with music playing and lots of TV's. We were seated immediately and ordered some drinks (Bulleit Bourbon Old Fashion and Pumpkin Martini) and and appetizer of loaded Tots. Drinks were made perfect with just the right amount of alcohol and sweetness. Loaded Tots came out crispy and cheesy and were amazing. I ordered Stir Fry with Chicken. Flavor was great, but for $6 to add chicken there was barely any added. Could have used some more udon noodles as well. It was a solid "B" grade from me. My wife ordered 1/2 Rack of BBQ ribs with mashed and Cole Slaw. Ribs were flavorful and juicy and hit the mark. Potato's were bland and could have used some more butter and seasoning. Cole Slaw was OK, could have used a little more zing. Another solid "B." Star of the night was our server Taylor who was handing a bunch of tables, but could not have more attentive and readily available when're we needed something. read more

In the past, food here has been pretty good....not tonight. My grandson's grilled cheese was 2 pieces of toast with a piece of cheese not melted. Nothing about it was grilled. I have been going to The Cask & Flagon recently for 2 reasons: my husband likes to go there to watch sports events on one of their many tv's, and they close their kitchen later than most of the restaurants in the area. Post-pandemic many restaurants close their kitchens at 8, so if you go out to dinner at 7:45, it's difficult to find a place that works. I was reluctant to go back to the Cask because when I first tried it, right after it opened, the food was not very good, and the place was so noisy. Well, the noise persists, especially for big games, like the Celtics last days of playoff. But the food has improved immensely. For a while, I repeatedly ordered their appetizer of Fried Cauliflower. It is one of the best around, and is so plentiful, it can be a meal. It is very crispy, a combination of sweet and spicy, and comes with a nice dip. After ordering it one time when the chef overdid the spicy, and underdid the sweet, I decided to try something else. In doing so, I discovered that they make very good fish tacos, and good buffalo chicken fingers with a blue cheese dip. They also have a section of the menu devoted to healthy meals. Their Grilled Rosemary Chicken is wonderful as are their Blackened Chicken Tacos with Boston lettuce taco shells. My husband is a big fan of the steak tips over one of their many great salads. The Watermelon salad with avocado, feta and greens is my favorite. A few more pluses: plenty of parking, seating, and some fun martinis. read more

Listen, I'm not saying that they're homophobic but like as a gay man, one of the few liberties I am afforded in these venues, is music. It's a sports bar full of cis straight white guys (who've most definitely met their expiration dates already) and whilst I get sports, playing music that makes me feel welcomed is one of the few things that makes sports bars like theirs, tolerable. Going through Rockbot, their public music app, won't play Britney Spears, Doja Cat, Beyoncé or Taylor Swift...kind of the music gambit. Also I can't decide if they are bigots, racists or just plain assholes. If this is what their only other location in Boston is like, I'd just as soon boycott them and assume they're management from top to bottom, only supports one demographic...and they should change with the times. In speaking to the wait staff, they all said that their music options changed suddenly and that they're at the mercy of management here and afar. Is no one feeling supported here? Spoke to management and they said : there were complaints about customers songs being passed over by other customers. So they banned only one type of music...let's call it current A List Pop. The app is a public music app that plays songs in order of how they're voted on by other customers and the "DJ" (you) is leveled based on how well other people (customers) vote on your selection. So riddle me this; a Level 13 DJ (me) music choice is chosen over a level (?)...by voting aka by popularity, my songs were chosen...time and time again. But the loser is butthurt his mediocre song was overlooked...but eventually played. So long story long...allow me to play music. read more

Sat at the bar on a Saturday night, drinks arrived fine, apps came out without a problem, but when it came to dinner, my fries were cold and chicken in my sandwich was dry as a bone, but that's not the primary reason for the review. I found a beer I had never tried, and I gave it a shot, it was good, it came in a can, it was $15, that did not bother me it was a local brewery, it was so good I ordered another. Th problem I had was that the soda water and lime we ordered was $6.50. $6.50 for carbonated water and a piece of fruit. Again no issue with paying $15 for the beer, but come on, $6.50 for a glorified glass of water. So we paid $39 for 3 beers and the one non-alcoholic drink was almost as much as a single beer on tap. read more

Cask 'n Flagon is the yin-yang of sports bars. For every pocket of smoke from a staffer ripping cigarettes on break, there's a trio of FOH managers making sure your every whim is met. Unless that whim involves Splenda in the sugar caddy, or, at times, a working satellites connection. I prefer the food quality at The Fours. The Cask, however, will do in a pinch. read more

Finally found something worth eating. I had the pick 2 platter with bbq brisket and chicken. It was pretty good. Last time there had the pastrami sandwich and it was hike eating shoe leather. The kids really liked the chicken quesadilla and the nachos were great.
