I had a reservation for 9 pm and was running ~5 minutes late. I texted them I would be running late and it was fine. I came here for my birthday dinner and there were some other parties also celebrating a birthday! There's some outdoor tables, a front bar and some tables in the front. But the main event is the back room. There are 2 sides lined with red booths as then tables in the middle section. We were seated at one of the bigger booths. The booths face towards the dining room so great for people watching. I love the ambiance and vibes of Casino. It's dimly lit. It's cozy. It's romantic. You can be dressed up or more casual. They do play music but it wasn't too loud. We had to place all drink orders together. Food orders also had to be ordered all at once but would be staggered. Overall, drinks were strong and filled to the rim. I was surprised by this! - Cosmo: This was strong and filled to the rim - Martini - Espresso martini - Mezcaltini: my friend liked this! - Prosecco: this was on the house since it was my birthday :) Food: - Focaccia: I loved the balsamic olive oil it came with. It only came with 4 pieces so not everyone in my group got to have a piece - Broccolini: we all were obsessed with this! one of my favorite from the night. - Funghi Frutti: I liked this and it was good amount of crispiness. Pieces were kinda small though - Caesar Salad: Pretty solid. The lettuce is not cut up though so we had to cut it ourselves. - French Fries: we all loved this. They were shoestring fries but crispy! A great amount for all of us to share with the pastas we were also sharing - Bolognese x2: The portion didn't look that big for us to share but between the fries I think it worked. Somehow we managed to be seated immediately here in the front dining area, which was perfect. We were greeted so kindly, staff there was super cool and funny. They made sure we were comfy and happy with our selections. Beautiful ambiance and aesthetic. Ok so for starters we went with the funghi fritti, caesar salad, and grilled prawns. Man that salad was so bomb!!! the dressing has this slight tanginess to it, just so delicious! Scrape the plate good, fresh croutons may I add. Ok for the mains we went with the porcini tortelloni and the bucatini with clams. So So So So very good ! Another episode of left the empty an clean. They had the ergonomic arrogance of something named after a migratory seabird. "They're Allbirds," he said, "the Tesla of shoes." The only revolution I assumed he was leading was involuntary celibacy in 2025. We were at Casino on East Broadway, where TikTok's downtown elite pretend to eat and actually network. The room was candlelit and moody in that "we allocated the entire Series A to dimmers" way. I ordered a mezcal martini, smoked and saline, the kind of drink that makes decisions for you, and he asked for "something citrusy but not too gay," which was, unfortunately, his entire personality distilled into a drink order. The crudo was fine in a "this will perform well on your grid" way, the steak au poivre bled like bridge financing, and the pommes dauphine--God love them--tasted like butter that knows it's being photographed. Mid-meal, I ran the numbers: Brian's "founder" title masks a Tier 3 VC round, NRR hovering below 100, and retention metrics that scream "pivot by Q3." He pays himself one-ninety pre-tax and post-reality, calls his accountant a VC friend (he's a weed dealer with a CRM), and speaks about liquidity events the way prosperity gospel pastors speak about blessings: constantly, vaguely, and with alarming conviction. He asked if I meditate. I assumed he meant SLT but it devolved into a Ted Talk about ceremonial-grade tea he drank in Nosara with someone named Luz who "really saw him." I smiled, nodded, and mentally composed the short thesis on his cap table while calculating how long until his co-founder files for dissolution. Verdict: Casino, 3 out of 5, atmospheric but performing. I can respect the lighting design but not the sound engineering, and the bathroom line moved like Series B negotiations. Went here with some co-workers after work. The food was great but the service was even better. Our server David was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He helped us pick out some amazing wines to pair with our meal (I'm a little bit of a wine fanatic ). The food came quick and was delicious. First visit, came with a party of four and got a lot (rough order of preference): - Chocolate cake - Nduja bread - Carrots - Spiced coppa - Olives/almonds/aged gouda ---- - Pappardelle - Torchio & sweet peas - Wood-fired prawns - Bar steak ---- - Pasta with clams - Paris-brest I think everything in the top category would be a must-get next time, the middle category would be maybes and I'd probably skip the bottom. The chocolate cake was probably the biggest surprise -- it was maybe close to being best-in-class, with some incredible sea salt really adding the perfect extra touch. Casino has very quickly become one of the hardest tables to score in the city. I'm always intrigued by the places that catch on fire immediately. There are tons of quality restaurants opening seemingly every week, yet most of them don't become an "it" spot. I'm Yelp elite but not New York elite, so I don't make the rules, nor am I privy to how they're determined. Needless to say, Casino is effortlessly sexy and a great time. It is filled with beautiful people and beautiful food and yes, do not worry, they serve expert martinis. We came here at around 9pm on a Saturday night. We did not have a reservation, which is something I virtually never do, but I figured it was worth a shot. We walked in and spoke to the host, who said it would be at least a 90 minute wait, but shortly thereafter he returned and told us he'd have a table ready much sooner. I had prayed to the restaurant gods on our way downtown, and prayers appeared to be answered. We were seated in the front half of the space (the back half is a more formal -- relatively speaking -- dining) at a small table amidst a lot of parties who seemed to all know each other or know people who worked at Casino, or both. It's a party in here. The cocktail list is comprised of mostly twists on classics. To start, I got the Grappa Martini, which was so simple yet so good. I could've had 10 of those, but I switched to your good old dirty martini after one. My husband started with a tropical mezcal drink which he said was just okay, but his second drink, a White Negroni, was excellent. To end, we split the Primo's Espresso Martini, which was better than your typical espresso martini and not nearly as overly sweet as many of them are. On the whole, Casino is great in the mixology department. Food-wise, for whatever reason, Casino's online menu is much larger than the menu we received at the restaurant. Not sure if this was because we sat in the front half of the restaurant near the bar (perhaps the main dining room has a bigger menu?), or just because things haven't updated, but we were a little disappointed that we couldn't order duck. That said, a smaller menu means that fewer choices need to be made, which is always a plus in my book. I'm the most indecisive Libra there is. Eats, below: Amberjack crudo w/ basil, chili, radish, garum: A+ This beautifully executed. The fish was super fresh, and the accompanying flavors struck the perfect balance of subtle and pronounced. A bit herbaceous, a bit umami, a bit spicy -- very well done. Roasted baby carrots w/ cashew-dandelion pesto: A+ They were out of the Butter Lettuce, which is what we originally ordered instead of this. I was pretty bummed given its rave reviews, but it was still probably a blessing in disguise, because we got to try these seriously delicious carrots instead. I feel like I've said this in a bunch of reviews lately, but don't sleep on sides people!! They're not just throwaway dishes. These carrots were excellent and the pesto was divine. Pasta w/ clams, bucatini, vin jaune, chili, bottarga I have a gluten sensitivity so I only had a small bite of this with the hopes of sleeping it off overnight, but it was worth it. The pasta had clean flavors with a light white wine sauce and a sprinkling of dried cured fish eggs. Somehow felt classic and creative at the same time. Roasted brussels sprouts w/ garlic confit: A This is comfort food for me. I know, I know, shouldn't that be the pasta? Nope, give me roasted brussels with some healthy roasted cloves of garlic I can eat straight and I'll be happy forever. There was nothing fancy about this dish, just well-executed, Steelhead Trout w/ endive, green olive-pistachio dressing: A I love an Italian restaurant that does a great piece of fish. This one hit the spot. Endives are one of my favorite winter vegetables, and here they're served both cooked and raw, adding earthiness, bitterness and of course, crunchiness. read more

So this place is literally around the block from me and I've been waiting to try them out. Still remember the space being Mission Chinese. Anyhow, we checked them out tonight and the verdict is on the fence. So let's break things down. - The pappardelle was flavorful and probably my favorite dish of the night - The wood fired prawns we're tasty but requires peeling - The ndujia bread was disappointing. It wasn't warn so the way through and basically taste like butter and bread for $18 - The turbot for two was cooked well and tasty but was not served to us. Most restaurants will lift the bones for you tableside. That did not happen. You're kind of left with the entire fish and good luck. So if you're not used to fish with bones and doing things yourself, you're not going to appreciate this dish. - Finally, the fries were less fries and more like the shoestring potato chips you buy at the bodega. Nothing wrong with them but they're not fries. The service was decent enough but the restaurant is loud. When everyone speaks, the place goes into a rumble. It's nice to see a new neighborhood spot but I don't think I'll necessarily be back. Especially since they don't open Sundays and Mondays. read more

The reason to come here- its cool. The drinks are sexy. The lights are dim. the people are hot. Its loud as hell. It is by definition- cool. Surprisingly staff was not snooty but very nice and accommodating - our waitress gave us her personal reccs that did not disappoint. The food was great we got the brocollini and endive salad to start- good but nothing insane. We each got a different pasta and all were very good and all had a decent level of spice to them that felt elevated. My only food note- the portions are definitely small so this isnt the best spot for sharing and splitting. We all wanted our own plates and more! My largest and maybe only complaint- it took forever for our food to come out. Both the apps, entrees and drinks. The service was snail slow. Space is only as beautiful as the crowd of stylish patrons. We came during NYFW and this felt like a see and be seen spot for groups of diners in their 20s-early 30s. The noise level was unbearable and I got a headache about an hour in. Food was hit or miss. We enjoyed the charred cabbage and the bolognese pasta. Squash and Cantaloupe & Ham appetizers were alright. We didn't like the beans side and thankfully our waiter left it off the bill. Service was efficient and knowledgeable. Came here on a Monday night to catch up with some friends. It was quiet at first but the dining room filled up as the night went on. I took a seat at the bar since i was early and indulged with an espresso martini before dinner. It was very well done, bartender was friendly. Our server at our table, was not so friendly. He took our order and didn't check in on us at all during the meal. And when we asked for one or two things he acted like it was an inconvenience. For food, we got the fluke carpaccio, insalata mista, prawns, prosciutto to share and I had the bucatini with clams as an entree. All of the starters were tasty. The prawns were flavorful and came 3 on the plate. I love bucatini and I love clam pasta - this dish was fine but not the best I've had. If I came back I'd probably try something different. Given the use of Calabrian peppers it more southern than northern Italian, but great all around. One discordant note is that except for the Paris Brest, the other desserts are mediocre at best. Mixed review of Casino during our weekend in NYC. Some notes: - The food was truly exceptional. Loved the various pastas we ordered and also the bread we got beforehand. Really really good food. - Waiter did a good job. Knowledgeable and responsive. - Kitchen was the one to botch this one, but our bread came out about 3 minutes before the main meal. Very little care with setting up the flow of things. - The lights kept becoming more or less dim over the night, like they couldn't decide which vibe to settle on. - The portion sizes were just not significant at all. I get it's a fancy restaurant and all, but it was not enough food. Not sure if it was supposed to be more of a free-flowing kitchen type deal? The restaurant is conveniently located by the subway in the area that's borderline Chinatown and the Lower East Side. I was expecting a little more of a coastal Mediterranean feel for the decor, which actually was quite staid. The dishes on the menu sounded delicious and we were hopeful after enjoying the nduja bread with Calabrian chili and honey butter. The roasted bone marrow also was a comforting appetizer. For our mains, we tried the pappardelle with lamb, the lobster cioppino, and the tournedos rossini (filet mignon). The pasta was good- it stood out and was memorable . However the steak was a little tough and dry and forgettable . The cioppino tasted better after we (gasp) had to request salt to enhance the flavor. For dessert, the Paris Brest sounded unique- hazelnut choux with pistachio ice cream- and was a great way to end the meal. The server began with splashing all over the table as they poured each glass and then proceeded to forget one of four cocktails. As far as the food goes: The endive salad was OK, bread was really good, pasta was good. Rossini steak entree was not. Nothing was great minus maybe the bread. We ordered two bottles of wine with our entrees. More spillage. Server never returned to ask if we wanted more wine once we finished the bottles. For dessert we all ordered coffee. Server brought us our check and thanked us before our coffee/desserts arrived. Two of the 5 cappuccinos arrived cold. The rest arrived several minutes later, with no sugar or spoons. All in all the food was a 3.5. Service was a 2, and even that's probably a little too forgiving. 3 stars - wouldn't actively avoid it if someone else wanted to go, but wouldn't suggest it myself First impressions - while the atmosphere looked very formal with the restaurant only lit by candlelight on each table and dim golden lamps on the walls, the open store-front was welcoming and unintimidating. Even though we didn't know much about the restaurant, we decided to stop in after walking by. It was a little awkward walking past dining customers to get to the hostess in the middle of the restaurant, but we were quickly seated in the back among filled tables of couples, friends having a special night out, and even a double birthday party. People looked like they were really having fun and enjoying their food. That being said, the restaurant was LOUD. I had to yell and lean in to hear and be heard with the person sitting immediately next to me. Food - Since the menu was unexpectedly expensive, we ended up just ordering torchio with lemon ricotta and sweet peas as well as rabbit ravioli. First, the portion sizes were tiny - this is definitely one of those Italian restaurants where you're supposed order one thing from each section and share with the table, but we didn't know that, and our server didn't give us an introduction. But, torchio pasta is my favorite pasta shape because of how well it holds sauce, and I was excited to try a simple and flavorful sauce. Unfortunately, although the sauce was flavorful, creamy, and zesty, and the sweet peas fresh and crunchy (not mushy), there was very very little of the sauce, defeating the purpose of using this pasta shape, and a disproportionately large amount of sweet peas. Next, the rabbit ravioli was cute, in 1inx1in squares, with a savory filling we had never had before, but liked. The pasta itself seemed undercooked though, and seemed to break apart like reheated pasta more than chewy freshly made pasta. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but my guest and I agreed that even if the portions were large enough to be true meal, it wouldn't have been particularly satisfying. Service - everyone was smiling and kind, but the service was incredibly slow despite what seemed like many staff members bustling around. We didn't have an assigned server and everyone had the same uniform except for the hostess, so it was unclear who was responsible for taking our order vs bussing other tables. Once we finally ordered, the food took a while to come out given how many guests there were, but the hostess came by to apologize herself (so considerate!). But then, when we were trying to pay, we must have sat there for at least fifteen minutes with the credit card on the table waiting for one of the many staff members walking by to pick it up. I had tried to call and let them know ahead of time one person would be running late, but their phone message told me to text them on Resy which I was unable to figure out how to do. Upon walking in, the host (bald with a sweater vest and teeshirt on) motioned me to him. I walked over and mentioned we had one person who would be joining us late he said "well we do have another table at 8:45 so, if we have to we will set the check on the table". His tone was harsh and I felt like I was in trouble for this... As the host took us to our seat he said "I'm trying to move things around for you" I was going to suggest we move to the front where they don't reserve seating but before I could complete what I was saying he said "as I said we are trying to move things for you" the tone again was so brash and rude I was incredibly turned off. Fortunately our server was kind and the rest of the staff was very respectful and attentive. During dinner I got up to use the restroom. As I was standing in the hall waiting , the host who was within 5 feet of me was staring at a table in the back mouthing the words "f-ing leave just f-ing leave"! The lack of tact was utterly disgusting. When we were leaving I was at the entrance and my friends were following but didn't see their coats. They were brought to the host stand for us and I pointed to show them where they were. The same host says to them "I think you need to hurry your friend really wants to leave". We all walked out absolutely stunned, I by no means was trying to rush anyone this person obviously didn't care about us and only was concerned about flipping the table and for the quality of the restaurant it was absolutely ridiculous to be talked to the way we were.
