I'm not sure that dell'anima has what it takes to survive on Cornelia Street. They do have a good amount of business but their food quality and service aren't up to par. I got the spaghetti de nero and it was fine - the shrimps were a little mushy and there could've been more flavor. I did like the pancetta bits in it though. We also had a bit of a miscommunication (the server thought I'd ordered two things when I was deciding between them and only wanted one) and did act a little annoyed / blamed me for the mishap. And they also weren't that knowledgeable about the menu. They said that it was couscous under the octopus but it was actually rice beans and they also didn't know what rice beans were. read more

Got here too late for charred ramp season, but still got to enjoy another fleetingly available plant appetizer in the form of the fiddleheads, in a more muscular version than is usually offered. It was also fun talking to the chef about his approach to this vegetable; sometimes NYC restaurant culture feels like "The Menu" and dell'anima conveys expertise in a non-pretentious realm. I had a fabulous lunch here yesterday! My dad and I decided to go to a place in Gotham West Market and I'm so glad we chose dell'anima. We ate at the counter and received incredible service. The food was so fresh. I had a glass of prosecco, avocado bruschetta (their version of avocado toast), and we split to arancini. Everything was delicious! The avocado toast had great flavor and the bread it was on was the icing on the cake. The risotto balls were spectacular! The tomato dipping sauce was so fresh and I loved the cheese in the middle of the arancini. I could have eaten the whole order by myself... they were THAT good! I can't wait to come back! Didn't realize this was part of the foot court, and it was pretty empty when my friend and I walked in. The "bar" seats are pretty close to the kitchen and it actually got pretty how while we were sitting there, as they were cooking right in front of us. Very solid Italian food and a cool countertop experience. This is located in Gotham market. We were seated at the counter and got to see the chefs making our meal, which lended to a unique ambiance. I would recommend reservations because the counter was completely full! We started with the burrata, which came with a peach jam and was delicious. For the mains, we got the Bucatini Alla Arrabbiata, spaghetti, and Brussels. All were delicious. My only complaints are that I asked for the bucatini to not be spicy but it was still very spicy. We devoured the octopus and almost went back to order another. We also ordered a bone marrow, bucatini alla arrabbiata, tagliatelle alla bolognese, and tajarin alla carbonara. Of the three, the bolognese was the favorite. The bone marrow was a tad too salty and not one of the best we've had, but it was not bad either. I did not expect to find restaurant-vibe/quality options in a dining hall so was pleasantly surprised by dell'anima. It pains me to write this review, but I have to do what's right for the Yelp community. This was one of my worst meals of 2025. The vibe of this place is weird given the layout of the restaurant and we were sat in the very quiet back room. Things started off with the odd service from our waiter, who when we ordered a bottle of wine kept spilling it everytime he poured which I don't think I've ever seen at any restaurant in New York. Then came the food, which was expensive and poor quality. The carbonara noodles were overcooked and the flavor profile completely missed what a carbonara is supposed to be. We also got two orders of the risotto, which was not risotto, it was essentially just cooked rice and sausage, there was no creaminess or broth to the dish. The prices here are completely out of line with the food quality and I won't be returning. There's a lot of overpriced Italian food in the WV and I'd add this to the list of skips. As I left, I told the owner that the pasta (papparadelle integrale) was the best pasta dish I have had in the US. I am over65 so I've had my share of pasta. The fish of the day (red snapper) was also incredible. The peach side was more than just peachy. Service was perfection. Really enjoyed my time here at dell'anima. This place happened to be both my last restaurant visited pre-quarantine and my first restaurant visited post-quarantine. Pre-quarantine: We didn't know dell'anima is located inside a food hall until we got there but nevertheless, it didn't feel like it when we were seated. I really enjoyed the Charred Octopus and the Carbonara. The waitstaff was very accommodating and we got about 2 bottles of wine. The fish was alright in my opinion but I actually enjoyed watching the cooks making it while we dined. Post-quarantine: They really are handling the post Covid work perfectly. They have limited food options and a nice little outdoor bar. We opted for glasses of prosecco and they were served in a to-go cup with a lid and a straw. This is also an OK Restaurant. I think the bone marrow was a letdown. It taste a hit like liver??? I don't know why but I didn't like it. The pasta was also ok. I like the noodle itself, but the sauce was kinda lacking in flavor. The carbonara with ramp was slightly strange and I'm not sure about that raw yolk on top of the carbonara. To make it clear, this "restaurant" is in a food hall with several other small food stalls. There is picnic style seating, as well as seating at the bar where you can watch the chefs.
