OMG I love this place!! I am in town for work and found this restaurant on Yelp. I ordered the Jackfruit BBQ sandwich with a GF bun and my sister ordered the meatball sandwich. They were both SO delicious. The jackfruit BBS was the right amount of sweet, tangy and spicy and you wouldn't know the bun was gluten free, it was the best sandwich I've had in forever! My sisters meatball sub was vey good, she's not a vegan but thought it tasted great and "normal". The cashew cheese was tasty too. We also had the local kombucha on tap and an iced chai. Great place. Great menu. Great people. I love this place. Even if you are not vegan you will love the food as well. If it is your first time I recommend stick to the menu. My experiences have been that daily specials are not as good or as flavorful. The buffalo bowl or Philly steak and cheese are go to sure things. The garlic kale side is amazing. This is the BEST vegan restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying! I'm doing the Daniel Fast for Lent. This restaurant helped me stay on plan! I HIGHLY recommend the "Impossible Burger" and the Beet Burger - both are very tasty. If you are looking for an amazing dessert, you will not be disappointed with the avocado and black bean brownie! This is the best vegan place I've tried and our plates were soy free. Their food was super delicious, can't complain at all and we even asked the waitress if we could buy the salsa and of course we did. This is our go-to vegan restaurant when we visit Chattanooga. Everything I've had from there is good. It's a great location on the river and parking is convenient. Cashew is a very small vegan cafe just off of the River. The food was sort of typical vegan cafe fare - personally, I didn't think the food was very good, but it seems like one of those places where you can find a dish or two that are good and eat only those each time you go. Full disclosure: I'm a former vegan, but I was visiting Chattanooga with my fiance AND my mom who is a vegan, and that's how we ended up at Cashew. I wouldn't have chosen Cashew based on the menu alone. (Chattanooga is a very vegan-friendly city - especially for the South - but this wasn't the most impressive of the vegan-friendly places I've tried in Chattanooga.) My mom got the BBQ jackfruit tacos, which was the best dish any of us ordered. Simple store-bought corn tortilla filled with delicious jackfruit taco "meat" and some coleslaw. The side of kale salad she got was not great. The dressing needed some work and the kale needed to be massaged to be broken down more. My fiance got the Thai stuffed sweet potato, which was really underwhelming. The peanut sauce was good, and the sweet potato was simple and delicious. BUT 75% of the dish was just raw shredded carrot which didn't add anything to the dish. Definitely wouldn't order it again. I got the buffalo tofu bowl, which was the worst of the three dishes we ordered. I wanted something simple and not too heavy, but the buffalo sauce was awful, and the vegan dill sauce tasted pretty bad (on its own and mixed with the buffalo sauce). For a vegan restaurant, they didn't take much care with their tofu either. It wasn't seared or baked in a way that gave it any texture. The food just wasn't memorable. Which is too bad, because the location and the restaurant itself are very cool! read more

Excellent food - toxic environment. I visited the store to get some pastries since I'm always looking for gluten-free and dairy free options. While the pastries were excellent, I really felt like the staff were bothered by my even being there. If you go here, they will definitely hurt your feelings and make you feel bad for coming there in the first place. One of the staff members was sweet and apologetic for the attitude the owners had toward me and the other guests that were getting food there that day. Umm, what. This place is delicious. And, I love the taste of animal blood on my tongue. I'm of the Anthony Bourdain mentality when it comes to Vegans: "Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans ... are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit." That's not true here. This place is about everything good in the human spirit. They're not preachy and/or pushy. They're just a few punks with a knack for throwing together some great food. I had the massive sweet potato topped with carrots, cilantro, cinnamon, Srirracha, and various Thai seasonings and it was everything. They also don't use any oils in any of their dishes, which after some research is amazingly healthy. So, support this great eatery and change your mind on Veganism. Whenever I am traveling, I try to stop in vegan/vegetarian restaurants in the cities that I end up in. I had less than 24 hours in Chattanooga, so I checked out Cashew, and it may be the best vegan restaurant I have visited so far. The ambience is great. It's not too big but not too small. You have enough room to eat and work if you'd like, which is great because I needed to work on stuff on my laptop and took advantage of their free WiFi. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the philly and it was delicious. It is really difficult to make great vegan mac and cheese and Cashew's was the best by far that I have ever had. Coffee was fantastic. The donut was awesome. I tried all my vices in vegan form and they delivered! It was a unique and tasty experience. Normally I write something funny along with my reviews, but there was nothing funny to Cashew. I am amazed by how awesome it is, and will come back! It was the icing on the top of a wonderful work/hiking experience in Chattanooga! Okay, here's something funny: even the bathroom was great! Yes, I had to poop because I ate so much. The only downfall is that you do have to pay for parking in the lot near Cashew, but it's so worth it for the delicious experience you'll have. I love the food at this place so much. Great prices as well. This is one of the few places where you can get a good gluten free donut. But the big down fall is the service. We have been here 5 times now and only one of the five times did we have a good serve. (the red head with the killer mustache) It seems like they don't have any real training. they well get your order bring the food and never come back (even though they are just 20 feet away talking behind the counter.) They don't get you refills, they don't ask how your food was, they don't do anything extra. I have to get up and chase some one down to get extra napkins. ( being over dramatic) I have no problem getting up and asking for thing but I hate that I am then expected to tip. but It overall is a great place to get good vegan food. read more

So, after watching too many Netflix documentaries about the food industry. We decided to go vegan; more like vegan-ish. (we are still figuring it out) So begins my days of vegan centric reviews... I haven't tried everything here yet, but what I have tried: Beet burger - This is probably the best veggie burger I have ever had. Seriously. It is not mushy. It is perfect. South Western Sweet Potato - A bit different than what I expected probably because they said a bunch of vegetables and herbs I never heard of before. I liked it as it was a different spin on how to serve a sweet potato. Although if cilantro bothers you, then you may want to ask that they go easy on it. My wife liked it, but the cilantro was a bit too much for her. Spice Cake - Awesome! We split a slice to try it out and that stuff is worth it's weight in gold. My wife had the berry smoothie, but did not think it was super impressive. At least for the price of $6. Everything else looked great, I look forward to visiting again. Oh, lastly they are only open from 10am to 4pm. Which is sad, I would totally like having dinner there. read more

Was in town from DC and was looking for plant based options for lunch and stumbled upon this place. The food was pretty good. I got the haystack which was basically rice(very little), black beans, jalapeños, salsa and sour cream-pretty basic but a good option. I also got a half of the Southwest sweet potato because I wanted to try it and boy I am glad I did! I wish I would have just ordered that, I got it without the corn and let me tell you it was delicious!!!! If you're contemplating on getting it please do you won't regret it.
