I tried this place for the first time about a week ago for brunch and I was super impressed. My food was so good, and filling, I had enough to take home. What made it even better was the bottomless mimosas!! I will say I almost made this a 4 star review because there was a man working, probably the owner or maybe a manager, who came off a little creepy. But I figured it may have been a one time thing or just a weird day maybe. Hopefully he gives the ladies more space in the future and quits with the awkward side eye staring... I will definitely be back to Casey's soon because I loved my meal and apparently they offer military discounts on thursdays and my husband is a marine. Great local spot that just opened up. This week we had the pleasure of dining at Casey's, a new restaurant in Fredericksburg that just opened last month! This restaurant prides itself on being "southern country cooking with a French zhuzh." We dabbled in each part of the menu, ordering drinks, a happy hour snack, an appetizer, a few entrees, a dessert and finished with tea/coffee. The drinks were SUPERB. There is a drink for any mood and any drinker. They even have delicious flavored tea and lemonade options that you can spike with a shot of your choice. Moving to appetizers, we ordered full wings and the hummus. If you are a hummus eater, you will love this. It has crunchy chickpeas and onions throughout so you get a crunch with every smooth bite. Paired with toasted pita and fresh cucumber slices, this is a hit. The full wings were seasoned well and have three sauces to choose from: Buffalo, barbecue and MAMBO SAUCE. Mind you they are whole wings. Next ENTREES! We had the half smoked chicken, the gnocchi, the smash burger, the rocket shrimp, apple fennel salad, and a side of fried brussel sprouts. This is where it got a little tricky. The half chicken entree was so seasoned and juicy which came with two sides, an onion biscuit and Brussels sprout carrot mix. NOT a huge fan of carrots, but have at it. I would prefer broccoli as an option. However, it was worth every penny. The shrimp appetizer and side of Brussels were both fried to perfection and well priced. The smash burger was on the small side and definitely more of a snack than a meal. The gnocchi entree was a very small portion, leaving us all wanting more in flavor and size, especially because it was priced at $17. BUT what I can say is the gnocchi was soft billowy and fresh. The key lime cheesecake was not as tart as we had hoped. It was more of a cheesecake with a key lime sauce. However, tasty! The slice was very thin and hard to share. The server explained that they partner with a local bakery and this was not directly from their kitchen, but the slice could have still been larger for the price. Lastly, we ordered a cup of apple currant tea which had a nice delicate flavor. We also ordered a caramel vanilla coffee which was smooth and warm, but on the sweet side for our everyday coffee drinker. With all of that being said, we enjoyed this restaurant and will be going back. The overall rating was around 7/10. The entire restaurant staff were so pleasant and friendly and super attentive. The bathrooms were neat and tidy and the restaurant itself is spacious with good vibes and music! The main reason for the dock in points was due to the price to portion ratio for multiple items. Had the portions been larger or the prices a little lower, we wouldn't have much to critique. We all agreed that this is a great happy hour place to come drink, snack, and be in good company. Next time we will be trying other entrees to compare them to the chicken we had, and we are also looking forward to them bringing out their full menu. Our lovely server also mentioned that they have brunch and we love us a good chicken and waffles with a side of mimosas. Be on the lookout for our Casey's review: brunch edition! I brought my dad here for a make up father's day brunch a few weeks ago. The outside of the establishment looked nice, but inside was like an old diner. The decor and style of the inside didn't exactly go with the fancy entrees on the menu, but that's not super important. Our server was nice, i can't actually recall her name though. I ordered the hash, my dad's wife ordered the breakfast sandwich on sourdough with eggs cheese bacon and sausage on it. My dad ordered waffle and wings. The waffle and wings is a dish with a cornbread waffle and three fried chicken wings. My dad is allergic to corn and asked if they have regular buttermilk type waffles and could he substitute that. Our server said yes, no problem. She then came back with a cook and said they only have two waffle irons and is it okay if the waffle is prepared in the same iron as a cornbread waffle? He asked if it's possible to not, because... allergies. The cook then spoke up and said they could wash the waffle iron and make his waffle in that. So my dad is looking around awkward like um is that going to be too much trouble? Or? And the guy is like no, no trouble. So my dad's like okay then yes thank you. Well, we get our food and it's delicious! I'm a little upset because the potatoes are described as being roasted and they were CLEARLY deep fried. I may have ordered something else, as i don't like to go with deep fried food if i can help it. Then as the meal is coming to an end my dad says he doesn't think they cleaned the waffle iron and if they did, they didn't do a thorough job. He was already experiencing itchiness and a migraine, two things that happen when he having an allergic reaction. Why do we not have one waffle iron for cornbread and one for buttermilk?? That way we can avoid these situations. The food was very good, but it just sucks that my dad ended up having an allergic reaction even after notifying the server and cook of his allergy. The food and service was awesome. Our server provided options for several favorites across the brunch food menu and the drink menu. I'm glad we took a chance to check them unique place out. The food was fresh and delicious. The key lime cheesecake was AWESOME, my one and only complaint would be the portion size for the cheesecake for $6 I figured it'd be bigger than just a little sliver but that's me comparing slices to the Cheesecake Factory where you pay anywhere from $7-$9 for a pretty decent shareable size. We tried Casey's for breakfast and it did not disappoint! I ordered the waffles, eggs over easy, and floppy bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly. The waffles were out of this world!! The honey butter-yum! My hubby had the open faced shrimp omelet with the hash browns. We ended up switching! But had some of both breakfasts. My hubby also had the massive Mary which was delicious. We arrived on Sunday for lunch, waited 15 minutes when two tables were visibly empty, but not cleaned. The hostess had to clean tables and seat people. We got seated at the same time as another table and waited about 20 minutes for our waiter. After sitting for an hour, and waiter passing us 7 times without checking on us, or our food, we stopped him. He realized he had not submitted our order to the kitchen and quickly went and entered it into the system. He said there was a mix up with our order, since we saw him go enter the order, we asked to talk to the manager. This is where it gets worse. The owner/manager comes out and acts flippant, and in response to us waiting over an hour, he says "it happens", several different times when we try to say how is the table next to us seated at the same time, and they ordered, got their food, ate and had their plates cleared, as we sit with nothing but water... ?? How does a waiter not notice this? Unbelievable! The duck wings were tough, my pot stickers were ok, breakfast plate was not great. After complaining and being told, "it happens", owner finally offers to comp the meal and we left... just floored at his flippant attitude. Casey's is a great brunch place. I wish I went during the night because I think the vibes would be perfect for a dinner. My friend and I went for brunch. There weren't a lot of people because we got there just half an hour after it opened. It was a little weird at first being the only people there, as more people came in, it became a really nice atmosphere and we ended up staying for two hours. Our server was really nice. The food was good. I got a classic breakfast with waffles, bacon, & eggs. The waffles almost tasted like they were made from wheat flour. Made a reservation with them for my family of 12 for a Sunday morning. They had everything set up when we arrived a bit earlier and seated all of us right away. Our server was Stephanie and should tool outstanding care of all of us with all our food and beverage needs. The service was great! Everyone is super friendly. Unfortunately, the food is absolutely bland. It's okay to use some seasoning y'all! My mom had the open-faced crab omelette, and it screamed gentrification because what was that, and where did the seasoning go? We shared a raspberry and goat cheese cinnamon roll. It was absolutely dry. At the minimum, please add more sauce to it. It has potential, but it's not there yet. As a Southern lady, I was extremely disappointed in the grits. My awesome waiter substituted them with more potatoes, which were edible. Please don't be heavy-handed with the salt on the potatoes. I had the steak and eggs. The steak and eggs weren't bad, but again, the seasoning wasn't present. Lastly, the coffee tasted burnt. I had to pour in as much creamer as I could to tone down the taste. Do yourself a favor and never darken the door of this restaurant ever again! We had Father's Day reservations at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance, and when we showed up, they had no record of it. After I showed them the email proof of my reservation, someone came out and said that the stove was now broken and they wouldn't be able to seat any other parties. Early dinner last night and it was wonderful! We were in town visiting g family, with small kids. A little hesitant to bring along the "littles". Mother's Day Miss On a positive note everybody was friendly and the chicken mini's were fabulous. Unfortunately, everything else was terrible. They oversold for Mother's day or were understaffed. This happens. Everybody was friendly about it, but it took 30 min after our reservation to be seated, another 45 minutes until we were given Mimosa's that tasted like...well, let's just say horrible. I've had bad or cheap mimosas, but this was truly terrible. We tried to order a bottle of nice champagne to make up for it, but they were too busy to make it happen before our meal was done. The main course was not worth the wait. Sausage gravy was not edible. The smoking hash was with undercooked eggs, almost no bacon. The breakfast sandwich seemed to have microwave sausage links and also uncooked egg white flowing off the egg. Will not be back. read more

The first time I came here I hade the grilled trout!! The trout was perfectly cooked and they skin was crispy.. my BFF had the steak with pasta!! But the high light of your meal was the duck it was sooo good!! Oh yeah the also served us corn bread.. at first I turned my nose up at it ‍ but when I ate a bite with the butter I was hooked.. we came back the following Sunday for brunch!! Date of Visit: 05/02/2021 I've been reading a lot about Casey's and so on this Sunday morning, we decided to make the 40 minute trek there to have some breakfast! Firstly, we loved the location...we thought it was in the heart of downtown, but it is just outside. There is plenty of parking. Such a cute place...from the outside street dining, to small courtyard dining to indoor seating and decor. I ordered an iced coffee (it is listed with the regular coffee...however, no free refills. I didn't ask first and I should have. However, the manager gave me a large refill for free). As my breakfast, I ordered the Rise and Shine Sammie: griddled toast, bacon, two eggs, cheddar cheese, skillet potatoes. YUM!!! Huge sandwich and the potatoes were probably the best I've had anywhere. They were crunchy and salty...just like I like them! My hubby ordered the Smokin' Hash :crispy potato cake, bacon, onions, tomato, sour cream, cheddar cheese, fried egg! He loved it. He ate all of his and half of my huge delicious sandwich. The service was very good too! Everyone was super friendly and attentive. This is a pricey place for breakfast so we couldn't come all the time. 3/10. Do not recommend. Came with my family, 6 including me, on a reservation at 12:00 pm. They were out of three main meals and orange juice :(. The environment is lovely, except we got our food an hour after we ordered. Our server was kind and apologetic stating they are normally busy this time of day, except this was the only time that was offered for our reservation so they must of been busy this morning as well if they wouldn't offer a reservation during that time. The kitchen seems super slow and under staffed. My brother's burger was cold, they forgot bacon on three of our separate plates, forgot sausage sauce that was ordered, and the bacon when we eventually got it after they were reminded, was luke warm AT MOST. Been here twice so far, will be back. The breakfast is amazing. Potatoes are nice and crispy and very flavorful without being salty. Thee bacon is thick cut and you, like the lady next to me, might get an additional side of bacon. Eggs are cooked perfectly, I ordered over medium and the yellow was very runny and the white was tight -perfecto. Ive the avocado toast. It needs some better bread maybe a crispy french or fancy crispy sour dough. But the pickled onions on top were very flavorful. I'd also like to see them add some sprouts and radish. But still really good. Mimosas are tasty, they have a few flavors. Nice to see a place with a grapefruit version. Haven't had it yet but the fried mozzarella looks amazing. Came to visit Fredericksburg from Richmond and had to try out this place I've been hearing about. I see why they call the espresso martinis famous because they should be. Very delicious, compares to the ones I had in Italy to a "T" or even better. The food and drinks were great, so flavorful and inventive. Something new Fredericksburg has been needing. I had the dumplings, fish, jerk chicken, and a couple more appetizers. Can't wait to go back and try some more dishes! The staff is amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The head chef Alex Casey I'm sure will be voted best chef in Fredericksburg this year. Got to check them out if you haven't yet! read more

Excellent experience, and quality food. I am very happy that I took the opportunity to try out this little gem. Staff were very friendly and respectful when speaking, and food was delicious. Speaking with an owner, I was happy to learn that the majority of their food is fresh (vice frozen until needed), and some is locally sourced (the ground chuck comes from our very own Olde Towne Butcher). It was refreshing that the menu is simple and straightforward. The food, however, is not simple. Quality products come out in the flavor, and the kitchen did an excellent job with presentation and execution. Looking forward to trying the duck confit wings soon! read more

I love a good local resty. Casey's is awesome & never lets us down. Wonderful menu, amazing service, you can buy the art off the walls. And I have! Current favorite is the pasta with crab meat OMG. A little off the beaten path but oh so worth it! The staff is so attentive and the food was amazing. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed some drinks. Pineapple mojitos and old fashion were on point. Duck wings and Brussels sprouts for appetizers, both delicious. My husband had the Summer Salad with the salmon. So good! I had the Thai Red Curry. Perfect! If you're skipping this place because of what it looks like on the outside, don't. We're an hours drive away, but even with current gas prices, we'll be back!! read more
