Stopped to grab some Lunch with a coworker before heading back to the office from a work errand... Was shocked at the friendliness of the place. We were greeted and introduced to the owner who offered to help with food suggestions as it was out first time there. We asked about good seafood items on the menu. We tried the special, not on the menu, fried avocado stuffed with shrimp and crawfish. It was good; filling was delicious. After that we ordered some typical tacos: carnitas and fajita. Well to our surprise the owner sent us two complimentary seafood enchiladas. The enchilada was certainly delicious. So simple. It was smothered in a sort of creole gravy. Like I said, it was delicious. And probably not something I would have considered ordering on my own either. Overall, amazing dining experience. Avacado check. Shrimp check. Cheese check. Put them all together and you have one of the best food inventions i've seen. Deep fried avacado filled with junk is simply amazing. Its not limited to shrimp though. Whatever your heart desires (well maybe im exaggerating but you get the picture), put it in a ball of avacado goodness, deep fry and enjoy. Ps this is a hidden menu item. After my dish came out a lady sitting at another table asked what it was and then immediately ran back to the kitchen to change her order. I enjoyed every bite of this deliciously msde concoction. Everybody in the restaurant was talking about how much they love this place and I can see why. After the recession everyone cut back on what they put in a torta, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that Casarez stuffs their tortas with pure goodness. Shrimp and Crawfish Enchiladas are terrific! Fajita Gordita is great too. Menudo is the best in the area hands down. Stuffed avocado is decent. Seafood Gumbo is delicious. (Fish,Shrimp and Crawfish Tails) Barbacoa is sold by the lb. It is also very very good. I'm not sure how this spot has 4.5 stars, but someone lied, or maybe they just have different tastebuds. ‍ The two stars are derived from the customer service and the prompt service. There were a couple of dine-in customers and social distancing was enforced. I ordered to go. The order consisted of the nacho superiores and the fried stuffed avocado with shrimp and crawfish. I was excited about my avocado, but it greatly disappointed. It had absolutely no flavor. I do not like a lot of salt, but I do like flavor...none! If I had eaten the styrofoam container it came in I would not have known the difference. I tried the nachos and immediately noticed the chips were stale. Thick greasy cheese...the ground meat was flavorful, but underdone in areas, which results when it is not browned thoroughly. The best part of this experience was the charro beans. They were perfectly seasoned. Maybe they should use some of that charro juice in their avocado ‍. I did not even care for the SALSAS...it's SALSA...I LOVE salsa...not this time. If you don't pay these folks a visit...you need your head checked. We live on the Mexican border. I'm a coonass. I've never had better food in my life. (Do not tell my momma.) Thank you YELP, but friend at home and away! Found this place when staying overnight near the airport. I felt liked I walked into the equivalent of a local Texan irish pub. We had the Chicken creole and beef enchiladas. We also had a classic frozen margarita and lemonata. Yummy! I would go back for just the food! BUT the service has my heart. By the end of the meal, I forgot who took our order because EVERYone seemed invested in assuring that we were well taken care of. I absolutely loved this place. The owner, Bobby has to be one of the friendliest people I have met before. Very warm and hospitable. The food was great. Since creole food has Spanish influence anyway, why not combine them. Definitely a good blend and they were well made. Everything was fresh and the seafood tasted lovely. I'm always skeptical about trying seafood so far inland. Normally it has a horrible aftertaste. The seafood enchilada is a must. You can have ranchero style or étouffée. I prefer the étouffée but both are lovely. The only reason I know that is because Bobby was kind enough to let me sample both. I would definitely recommend this place. Such a good place to eat and the waiters are very kind. My family and I come here for breakfast probably 2-3 times a week. We've been coming here for years and the food gets better and better. The staff is amazing and so friendly. The owner always makes sure to walk around and introduce himself. He makes you feel like family when you are in his establishment. My mother had the Migas, stepdad has Huevos Ranchero, and my grandma and I had menudo. My mom and I decided a mimosa was the best way to go out with a BANG one A.M. best mimosa in town!!!. I could of had three more. My grandma and I enjoy coming here for breakfast. I will not lie when I say they have the best breakfast tacos. If you squeeze the lime slice into it, it's better. The salsa served with the tortilla chips is very good, spicy without burning your palate. The owner was very friendly, explaining how he prepares the fried avocado. The Fajita salad was okay. The chicken is well seasoned and the delight. It's served on some shredded lettuce with some spinach leaves tossed in. Diced tomatoes and a shredded white cheese are also components. It comes with queso as a 'dressing'. I didn't bother since I didn't want queso on a salad. I opted for some of the salsa served with the chips. That helped to meld all the ingredients, for me. All said, I will return. read more

Don't let the looks of the restaurant define how delicious the food is. I came here and saw the yelp reviews that said that deep fried avocado was really good so I decided to try it and man it was delicious I was a bit skeptical about it because a while back I had tried fried avocado from a different Texmex restaurant and it was horrible but this one was nothing like my past experience,it was really creamy and crunchy from the outside and cheesy in the inside with two of my favorite meats shrimp and fajitas.They give you an option of rice and beans or pasta and veggies.Usually in a Mexican restaurant u get rice and beans but decided to get pasta and veggies ,the pasta was very delicious as well as the veggies nice and fresh.Overall I'm very happy I came across this restaurant.Muy bueno read more

When I was visiting Houston decided to try this place out, I'm very glad that I did. The service was outstanding! They give you chips and salsa and it's sooo good. The first time I ordered I believe was the seafood enchiladas you can literally taste the deliciousness, they give you a really big portion as well! My husband ordered the gumbo and that was outstanding. The next day I wanted more of this place so we went again, we got a new server and she did great loved her attentiveness towards us. This time I got the shrimp/crawfish etoufee, at this moment I knew I have fallen in love with this place haha they seriously do give you a great portion of food! My husband did get the shrimp/fajitas it was decent I felt like the fajitas needed more flavor even then they give you a lot of it. We've been here several times, one in particular was when my son was visiting from 29 Palms. He was dressed in his USMC brown/blues and the host accommodated our large and boisterous family with several tables lined up to fit us all. I am not sure what the previous review had to do with "supporting veterans", but our host went out of his way to thank my son for his service. :) The food is amazing and i LOVE their drink menu. We had a wonderful family gathering and look forward to returning again. The people here are wonderful and the owner has come out to greet us and ask us how we like the place each time we come. We had a great visit to this place. Great food. Really really great margaritas (and the price for them is awesome for what you get!). I had the stuffed avacado, but I think will explore the menu next time to something else. My wife had the crawfish and shrimp enchiladas which were awesome. My only nit pick would be that the salsa was very liquidy and runny. So the chip mainly just had a soaking on it when you pull it out. But that isn't enough to lose a star over. For visitors to Houston landing in Hobby Airport, I'm afraid that the drive down Edgebrook is not the first impression of this fine city I'd have chosen for you. However, the food at Casarez is the taste of Tex-Mex we're proud of. If you're eating here around lunch time (as I was) $10 is more than enough to stuff your face so full you won't need dinner. The lunch specials are a great value, and include things like a Footlong Burrito (get out your ruler kids, this isn't a 10in subway "footlong" either) with rice and beans, the "Casarez Special" which includes one of almost everything on the menu, enchilada platters, or a 3 taco plate. They even had vegetarian options, which is hard to find at Mexican chain restaurants. The decor is spot-on too with day-glo paint colors, and oil paintings of cowboys and cacti. Topping it off are mis-matched plastic seats and a radio blaring latino hits. When it's time to pay, you get up, and go to the register. read more
