I found this spot near my work. It's been hard finding really great tacos. I didn't try their tacos, I did one chicken and one beef enchilada. I love the option to try both! It was a slight upcharge $1.50. It came with rice and beans. It's definitely a local spot for people as there were alit coming in and out. The cheese and sauce was good, I didn't find the meat to be as flavorful. The rice and beans were good. I will definitely try them again but for tacos. After dropping off my friend at the airport, I decided to check out this Mexican restaurant nearby called Cazares. They have this unique dish called the fried avocado. You have an option to get it stuffed with shrimp, crawfish etoufee, beef, or chicken. The waitress recommended shrimp so I went with that. They give you complimentary chips and salsa. I wish the salsa was less watery and more spicy but I still ate it up. They also give you a bottle of green salsa but that one wasn't that spicy either. I think I saw some tables have another darker red salsa but they didn't give me that one. The plate comes with som rice, refried beans, and 4 tortillas with your choice of corn or flour. The shrimp were huge and full melty cheese a good flavor. I basically made tacos out of bite of the fried avocado. Very creamy with a slight outer crisp, but it breaks pretty easily. It's very colorful (literally) place inside, and it took a while before I could look away. Food and service were good. Chips and two salsas very tasty. This hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem in Houston. We started off with complimentary chips with 2 different types of salsa, a sign of good things to come. I ordered the steak fajitas, which came with a generous serving of rice, beans, guacamole, tortillas, and more. The steak itself was sizzling and well-cooked with perfectly grilled onions on the side. My dad ordered the pork chops, which were huge in size (think x3 pork chops worth). At around $20 for each entree, these lasted us multiple meals, a rare occurrence in a family of voracious eaters. Service was great, and parking was easy to find. Get in where you fit in here!! There are two entrances (front and side). Seating is first come and first service basically. We learned the hard way, but nevertheless we finally got a table after "waiting" for our chance for 15 min. This place was packed and we went around 11am so be prepared. Diego was a life saver, he was very helpful and kept the coffee coming for me. Even though he couldn't take our order, he was so helpful and kind. Ok yall please order the pancake. So, this is a hole-in-wall type place... my favorite kind of restaurant! Humble but really clean inside. The waitstaff are sweet, efficient, and attentive. I have always loved what I've ordered. These days I tend to get either the chalupas with chicken or the quesadillas with shrimp. Both make me drool, lol! Breakfast is also really good at Casa Rez. Came looking for another restaurant in the area but couldn't find it so we came upon this hole in the wall not expecting anything really good but this place has great service and attitude. Casual, homely ambiance. Great sauces and chips. I absolutely loved the red sauce made molcajete style. Ordered the Grande special and let me tell you that you can't go wrong. So much food that 2 can eat from one plate. I truly recommend trying it. Everything made smells amazing. Homemade tortillas served. Waitresses are very friendly. I will be back to try other items. Our second time to try this place out and this time I tried their menudo (on a Saturday). I have to say it's hands-down one of THE BEST menudo in the greater H-town area!!! I got the large portion and boy-oh-boy... I had food coma after that! But in a good way! I definitely got my fill for menudo!! I love that they didn't go easy on the tripe. Maaaannn... that bowl was about 3/4 filled with it and I super love it! And that broth... hooo boy... y'all just go head down there and check it out as I'm now getting lost for words! Hubby ordered the 5 pc tacos and he cleaned the plate up. I wish I had some space in my stomach so I could've tried those too but that big bad bowl of menudo filled in every gap there is! Oldest kiddo got the chicken chimichanga and left only the refried beans and rice (he's not into those anyway). I tried to get some of his rice. But that menudo y'all.... I just don't have the space for anything else! Then youngest kiddo ordered the scrambled eggs and sausages. He ate it all up! And understandably so since he just got out of a swim meet. To add to that... their complementary chips were warm and crispy. Our server was extra attentive that as soon as we're down to the last 5 chips, she's back with another bowl. This is always my go to spot for a great breakfast burrito. The egg, potato and cheese is to die for every now and then I get the fajita, egg and cheese but the green sauce will open all of sinus cavities but so good you can't stop eating it. I've had this place saved for a couple years and every time I come home to visit I don't make it here. Well last week I was in Houston and they were available for delivery on Uber eats. I was genuinely excited and my friend had dined there once and remembered it to be good. We ordered street tacos, both types of seafood enchiladas and a side of guac and sour cream and cheese. We struggled a bit to order because everything on Uber eats was in Spanish but only some of the items had the English translation. I wasn't sure the flavor difference between the 2 seafood enchiladas, I even called to ask but the nice lady that answered couldn't understand me. My solution was to order both lol. When the food arrived it was packed extremely well and included a fresh bag of chips and plenty green and red salsa. Everything was there and the food was still hot after traveling to the galleria area. Overall it was good, not great. The refried beans and charro were fantastic (I love beans), the rice not so much. The enchiladas were both ok but we preferred the ettoufee version, both had a good amount of shrimp and crawfish. Tacos were standard. The food was indeed fresh and I believe if I dine in next time I would have an even better experience. I visited this restaurant for this first time as I was in the area for dinner heading to a meeting. The chicken fajitas were ordered for $13.95 with charro beans and their homemade tortillas. The chips and salsa arrived and I thought they were very good (4). Chips were crispy and the red salsa had a good salty flavor like it's supposed to. Within 10 minutes the entree arrived. The charro beans were a 4 with onions and bacon in them. The platter had a lot of large chicken pieces with a lot of onions too. I was happy. The chicken was juicy and the only thing missing were some bell peppers but oh well. The 3 tortillas were fresh and with the cheese, guacamole and pico de gallo, I had everything I needed for a very good meal. Twice during the meal, the manager came by to check on me. A shrimp pasta special was featured on the blackboard. We selected the deep fried shrimp stuffed avocado based on recommendation of other Yelpers. This was possibly one of the best foods of all time. The avocado was huge and creamy, coated with a light crispy crust. Inside was a blend of large shrimp and cheese. You MUST try this. We also selected a tamale lunch special. Lunch special were served until 4:00. The tamales were filled with pork and topped with a hamburger filled red sauce. This was also very good. Both meals were served a generous portion of rice and beans. They also sent us home with fresh chips and salsa. I liked the chips a lot as they were not salty but light.
