Everything I ate from Casa Tua was delectable. My favorite bites were the gelato and the truffle pasta. My experience was that the staff was extremely helpful. They gave the best recommendations, answered all our questions, and gave us background on the restaurants lineage. It really made the experience special. The ambiance was beautiful. I was really looking forward to coming to try out Casa Tua! When my friend told me she had got a reservation I was excited and asked how she scored a 5pm one. She said it just popped up and she took it. The vibe here is like Sheak and sexy. I read they want you to feel at home and cozy. I wish my friend and I felt that way after our meal. Well when we got there the first odd thing that happened that we were literally the only ones in the main dining room area. No one really started to show up until like 5:45pm or so maybe 5:30? I am not sure but it was very odd feeling. That is the first thing of a few different events that happened to us during dinner. To start off in the drink category I had a gin and tonic which was tasty but it did not taste like there was gin in it. I guess that is good in a way but it was a bit odd. My friend had an espresso martini, another gin martini and some other drink. Usually she says three drinks knock her down but she was totally fine after dinner. Maybe there was not much at all alcohol in her drinks either. I mean for the cost of them thought they would be strong and get your money worth. Guess I was wrong. For the food category We shared the Burrata with basil and tomatoes. The tomatoes are like smashed up which I had never had it like that before. This dish was good and worth the price. I had the Rigatoni with meat sauce which was good but the rigatoni was a bit hard. There were great flavors in the dish and I didn't know it came out in a big dish. These pasta dishes are great to share. The waiters plate your pasta for you before serving it to you. They do it in-front of you which is nice. My friend had the pasta with the caviar on top. She said it was good but also like me she said it was alot. We both took the other half of our dishes home. Now onto the dessert part... This is where the night got interesting. I just had a cappuccino which was tasty. I could have had sorbet or gelato well depending on what flavors they had but i decided to just keep in simple. With my food allergies I am sure alot of the desserts included nuts. My friend with no food allergies wanted to try the ice-cream that this place is known for its like pistachio or something flavored. So I obviously can't have it. I guess she knew before hand that it came in a big swirl as she tried to ask our waiter if she could get it in a smaller size but she would be more than happy to pay the full price of it. It was not about the money at all she didn't want to waste food. I legit could not share with her and she explained this to the waiter and he still said it only comes in one size. So my friend said ok it's fin I will try it. Than 5 min later the waiter comes back and proceeded to tell my friend oh and by the way it will take 15-20 min for it to come out. She was like that is fine. But why couldn't he have told her this the first go around. Anyways, it comes out and as you can see in my picture I posted like it's huge. The waiter I think could have been more polite and said let me check with the kitchen or my boss to see if there is any way we could accommodate you and make it smaller. But no he was very firm on saying there was no other way. Than when the ice cream comes out its this huge thing and my friend did say it was very good and worth it but we see our waiter like going around telling other waiters about us and the ice-cream we saw him tell one and they both turned their heads and looked at our table. Made us feel very uneasy and it was not right of him to do, also when he is standing close to us. We than were pretty much about finished but still enjoying our cappuccino and my friend was enjoying her espresso martini and one of the managers comes over to us , I thought he was going to ask us how we enjoyed our dinner or something along those lines. I was very wrong, in a not so polite way he was like I need to ask you to leave because we need your table for another reservation. Mind you there were other free tables we saw when we did leave but we were like umm ok. He said he could find us another table if we wanted to finish our drinks but we said no thank you. When we sat down they could have said something along the lines of like we will have another reservation coming at this time so we ask you to please be done with your meal at this time. To me that is more polite and so it gives us a heads up. Also, when we were done with our meal the check comes out we didn't ask for it. What if we wanted another coffee or drink. I don't know the whole night just felt very uneasy to us which is unfortunate as I was looking to come back here to take friends and family here.' read more

Magnificent Snobbiest front desk ever, but I get it: they're that good at what they do. The Maitre D gave us a fabulous table (for a big occasion) notwithstanding my white trashedness. Place may be stupidly expensive but they deserve this for the show they put on: worlds finest ingredients prepared and served so nicely. The Mark and Surrey Hotels are fabulous boutique hotels on the Upper East Side in New York. We spent an afternoon at these gems on our recent trip for my bday weekend. It's easy to hit both in an afternoon because they're around the corner from each other. They're both elevated in every way but have a real residential feel to them. Nothing better than a spot where you see locals hanging out. The Lounge at Casa Tua is the bar in the main restaurant at the Surrey hotel. Every inch of the space is curated with a sexy Parisian vibe. The restaurant is Italian, but the design makes me feel like you're in Paris. There is an amazing large photo of actors Parker Posey and Benito del Toro next to the bar. It fits the perfect city chic vibe of the Upper East Side. So iconic I had to take a photo of it. Of course the people watching on the Upper East Side is spectacular and it didn't disappoint. Everyone was as friendly as they were dressed to the nines. The cocktail shot is a French 75. Visited with a group of five people and two toddlers. We ordered the risotto, lamb chops, veal Milanese, prime beef, the NY steak, along with a green salad and a fava bean salad. Finding a place where toddlers will behave well and the kitchen can handle it is usually a challenge, but here it was seamless. The staff is top-notch, and the risotto is excellent. Casa Tua just opened a few months ago and this place is already so busy! We had a relatively early dinner reservation with my girlfriends for a birthday and it was calm at first but by the time we were leaving every single table was occupied and it was a party scene! First the service was excellent with attentive staff all around. Second the food, I was skeptical at first about the portions but we ended sharing amongst 4 girls and it was just enough. We ordered everything to share, such as the burrata, hamachi crudo and the beef carpaccio. And for mains we got the huge veal Milanese with salad and a ragu tagliatelle to share. I absolutely loved both the mains. The veal Milanese was really huge! And it came with a arugula salad (I totally forgot how much I love arugula!). I was so excited to take my mom here while she was in town visiting for my birthday. The food was excellent - yellowtail hamachi and miky's salad to start and then the chicken alla diavola and the tagliatelle with mushrooms. All excellent. I feel like the wine by the glass list could use some more options. It didn't make sense for us to get a bottle because I was drinking red and my mom was drinking white. The sommelier was very helpful though, as was our waitress. No complaints at all on the service or food. There was an issue that unfortunately ended our lovely evening on a sour note. The reason I had to give 4 stars was the fact that I made a reservation, filled out the preference form AND indicated it was my birthday. It wasn't mentioned at check in or at the table. When they were getting our coats from coat check, I asked the hostess about my birthday notation. She literally didn't say anything then when we were walking out she asked it was Katie Brown right? I said yes. About two minutes later when I got in my car, I got an email that my reservation had been cancelled. This could not be a coincidence or by mistake. It seemed as though she did not want me in the system after I'm sure she confirmed the birthday notation. I've been here 3 or 4 times and each time is more fun than the last. The ambiance in the lounge is warm and welcoming, the decor is beautiful and comfortable and every single staff interaction has been a pleasure. I have to call special attention to the lounge manager Daniele. He is so warm and accommodating. He makes everyone feel special, like a VIP. Kudos on the cool uniforms, I like the white jackets with the medal buttons As expected the setting and atmosphere is lovely as the restaurant is inside The Surrey hotel and most of their patrons are local There were many misses with the food, For example the truffle pasta lacked flavor and was served cold by the time the waiter had served and plated, the steak also missed the mark, it was dry and had nothing to garnish or sizzle it up with, I was using the chimichurri sauce from one of our earlier plates, the lamb was also undercooked and tasted very gamey I really did enjoy the rigatoni and the drinks were good. I came here for dinner with 4 of my girlfriends and the birthday girl's mom for a birthday dinner. We had a 5:30pm reservation and we were seated promptly. Surprisingly we were not the only people in the restaurant at this time. The decor is a clean and modern look and there are pictures of different places in Italy everywhere. We ordered a round of drinks before ordering appetizers and entrees. They have an extensive wine and cocktail list and they even had a couple of non-alcoholic mocktails, which I appreciated. We ordered a variety of 3 appetizers, 5 entrees (3 pasta, 2 fish) and 3 desserts that we shared amongst the 6 of us. The dishes were a decent size and I have to say that I was pretty full by the end. The staff also divided the meals in separate plates for us and then put the extras in the middle of the table. Everything was so delicious and I highly recommend coming here. You will certainly get a good meal at Casa Tua, but it will not be particularly special. Honestly don't even order dinner here if you want and just go straight for the gelato bc it's a whole meal. I started going to Casa Tua many years ago in Miami and was excited when I heard they were opening up here in NYC. I started dining at the restaurant very shortly after they opened and continue to dine there frequently. I also really like the lounge, which in all honestly is something the UES needed. We showed up at 6:30pm on a Tuesday for a 7:30pm birthday dinner reservation. After we checked in, we headed to the bar across the hall which was a great spot for a pre dinner drink. After a nice cocktail round we headed back to the restaurant. We unfortunately had to wait at the restaurant cocktail bar because our table wasn't ready, which wasn't a big deal until we waited an hour despite having a reservation. At this point we had spent $100+ on two rounds of cocktails and also saw tables (2 tops) being seated ahead of us. Little bit frustrating to say the least... Now on to the food - the bread basket and the casa Tua chicken salad were delicious. The star of the show was the cacio e Pepe! The pasta was perfectly cooked and the taste was great. The veal Milanese was very good as well, but I would probably try a different dish next time. We unfortunately didn't get to dessert since we had been at the restaurant for 3.5 hours and needed to leave. On principal, waiting an hour post a reservation time is ridiculous and detracted from what was a very special birthday night. read more

The food is good and the service is good but it is not worth the price at all. It is extremely overpriced for what you get. The lobster salad is not good, do not get that. The prosciutto is $42 and the mozzarella that comes with it isn't great. The hamachi is good, and the tagliatelle and pappardelle are both good. More negatives than positives. I will begin with the positives. The service was very good. Our server asked how we would like the pace of our meal. It was nice knowing we would not be rushed. The beet salad was good and flavorful. The octopus appetizer was tasty but would have preferred it to be a bit crispier. Husband had the branzino and he liked it. Now the negatives. My risotto was over salted and drowning in olive oil. The pasta bolognese was terrible. The only flavor was a gamey one. The pasta was mushy and the noodles themselves had no flavor/salt.
