Review your check, I was billed twice on my credit card. Very dishonest establishment.

I expected typical Tex-Mex broiler fare here. I was pleasantly surprised when a good number of the dishes at the meal were not just broiled cheese and goo... My camarones al diabla was seriously amazing. A wealth of flavors and textures. Spicy to be certain... like actually spicy 7 out of 10 hot. Not "We are gonna call this spicy for typical American tastes because most think two shakes of black pepper is impossibly hot and spicy"... The beans and rice were scooped from some large hot storage, but didn't taste like it. The other food items at the table were universally praised by the group. Even the broiler fare that needed refractory gloves to handle the plates... I like it here. I have been a few times now, and will be back! read more

Excellent food with a large variety of items on menu. Staff very friendly and service was super. I will definitely return!

Decided to try the place out because it was across the road from our hotel. The service was good and the food was even better. There's a lot of options when it comes to food and the portions are good. Very affordable for a family of 4! Will come back again when in the area. read more

Overall it was decent the beans were watery snd the meat is dry but other than that service is good employees are nice and its a good stop after a long day at cedar point!! read more

We found ourselves in Sandusky taking someone out to eat that doesn't go out to eat often. We asked him what he wanted and he decided Mexican. To be honest, my choice wasn't based on much more than google maps closest Mexican destination that didn't have a 1 star rating, but we found ourselves at Casa Real after a very short drive. Long story short the food was really good. We came around 1 o'clock so the lunch rush was still seated but during the course of our meal half of the restaurant left to go back to work presumably. The server was friendly and brought refills on drinks. The only odd thing was that you got one basket of chips free and then paid for any additional basket, at least that's what the menu said, I didn't check the bill or care really. The chips and queso were good and paying a couple bucks for an extra basket of chips isn't a big deal, just different from most places we go. Two of us ordered fajitas and one got the seafood burrito. Personally, I wouldn't get a seafood burrito from any restaurant in Ohio, but he said it was really good and it was an enormous portion. It was more like two 3/4 sized seafood burritos and he ate every bite of it. The fajitas were the lunch portion. For the $6 they cost it was a very sizeable portion of steak fajitas and the fixings. If I had any complaint about the whole deal it was that a) I only got 2 tortillas and I am a carboholic and b)the rice was over cooked, but I'm not really drawn to Mexican rice to begin with even when it is cooked correctly. The beans and cheese were however some of the best I've had. All in all it was a great, cheap lunch and when we are in town again looking for Mexican we will definitely be back. Disclaimer: I have a feeling this place is constantly packed during amusement park season as Cedar Point is just down the road. It was crowded on a Tuesday at 1 pm in February, so take that for what it is. read more

Crap....again I wanted to give three stars. But..... The place seems decent enough. The margaritas were pretty darned good. But they were stuffed full of ice, which kinda honked me off because it was obvious they didn't have as much margarita in them as ice. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant skimps on the drinks. But, like I said (wrote), it seemed, decent. Then I saw the lipstick residue on the rim of the glass. I stopped drinking margarita after that... I had the Cheese enchiladas for dinner. I've had better. I would have forgiven them for a margarita glass with leftover lipstick (shit happens). But with all the ice, then less-than-stellar enchiladas...well.........I just couldn't pretend it was 3-star. The enchiladas had a bitter sauce, the cheese inside was COLD (not even melted or soft). They can do three things to improve and - I will say this - I'm willing to give it another try if I'm back in Sandusky this fall (even chances)... 1. Don't SKIMP on the drinks. Make it real, not a cup of ice with a pretend hint of a drink. 2. Maybe clean those margarita glasses just a bit more 3. HOT food, and double-check your enchilada sauce recipe - perhaps tweak it just a bit to reduce the bitter, bring a tomatilla/hot sauce essence a little more forward. Don't try to fancify them..just tweak it. I don't want artisan cheese enchiladas, just good, hot, down-home enchilada that mix well with a beer or with the margarita (unskimped, and in a clean glass). Do those things, you'll earn 3-4 stars from me. I'd like to like you more...maybe love you..,. but I won't pretend to see what's not there (yet). read more

Great place for a quick meal or weeknight takeout. The Victoria Beer at the bar is always cold and ready!

In town with my daughter for a convention, I Decided I wanted Mexican food and a Nice Margarita so I chose this spot it was good but the shrimp steak and chicken wasn't very flavorful. The Lime Margarita I ordered was ok wish it was a little stronger! If in I'm in town I would return to give it another try! read more

The food was delicious, and the staff was great. We went there on a Sunday night, and we must have just beat the crowd because within minutes of us getting there the place was packed. Super nice staff and great atmosphere. Would definitely go there again and take all my friends. read more

Stopped in to Case Real recently after visiting Cedar Point. There were 6 of us and it was not a busy night at Casa. Upon being seated, we were all served water and we placed our drink orders. I ordered a large, frozen margarita. It was really tasty! Nachos were promptly placed before us and they were warm! Yum! The salsa was tasty as well, but lacked heat. My wife ordered some melted white cheese and we were given more nacho chips to go with it, even though the menu said they were not free after the first basket. My wife and I shared the Fajitas For Two and they were tasty. The flour tortillas were served hot inside aluminum foil. This is the only way to serve flour tortillas, in my opinion. It would have been nice to have some shrimp in the mix, but the steak and chicken were good. The food took a little longer than most mexican places I've been, but it was all delicious. Definitely solid fajitas! read more

Our server was super friendly and awesome, even other servers came helped us with no problem! The food came in relatively fast and was super good! Love the chips and salsa btw. Overall place was authentic as hell, food had real good prices and tasted real good too. Absolutely the best Mexican our family has ever had. Wish it was closer to our home since we are here for a softball tournament. This is the real deal! read more

Food was fair. Had three different meals. Please see pictures of taquitos, California burrito and Hawaiian chicken. Service was adequate. Please note, you only get in basket of hard chips. Additional baskets of chips $1.99 each. Drinks: strawberry daiquiri not sure if it contained alcohol, friend sent her house margarita back to the bar and drank water. Maybe you will have better luck. read more

Ambiance: You can see from the pics this place assaults the senses with its bright orange and pale green walls but its something I actually find charming about mexican restaurants. The place was a little noisy, filled with families with kids and young people with their margaritas. The service was a little slow/negligent, took us a while to get seated and we had to flag down people besides our waiter to get service because they weren't staffed to handle the dinner rush. Food: I had the Tacos Al Pastor. The dish was three double corn tortilla tacos filled with large chunks of tender beef cooked in a savory and mildly spicy sauce. It was served with a cup of beans and salsa fresca for garnishing. Something I noticed and that was echoed in my Dad's Carne Asada plate was that the meat was almost unnaturally homogenously tender. I suspect they add powdered tenderizer to their meat which is fine although certainly not gourmet. I'd rather have cheap artificially-tender meat than cheap dry leather. The beans were a little bland and not worth writing much about. The rice on the other hand I'm torn on because it had a great flavor with an appropriate taste of tomato and spices but it was overly steamed because it literally disintegrated in your mouth and turned into mush. Coming from San Diego, Casa Real is an OK mexican joint with a few quirks. They use beef when pastor is typically beef and they use enzymatic tenderizers for their meat but the end result is that the meals are edible and somewhat tasty. I wouldn't come here looking for anything mind-blowing or authentic but it works if you're jonsin' for some mexican. read more

The food was very good. I ordered a grande margarita and the Fajitas Hawaiiano. Everything was amazing. Service was a little slow as the people behind me were seated after wards, bit their order was taken first. Wasn't that big of a deal since I was not in a hurry to go anywhere. Would definitely recommend to others. read more

I was staying at the Econolodge, directly behind this restaurant and I was tired from a full day of travel. Since this restaurant is directly in front of the hotel, I walked over to have dinner there and I'm so glad I did. I was sat by a friendly hostess and my server came by in a few seconds to get my drink order, which was a 20 ounces lime margarita, which happened to be on special that night. I was also brought a huge bowl of tortilla chips and some tasty salsa. I decided to order the enchiladas verde with a side of refried beans. It took about five minutes for my food to arrive, which amazed me. The mesl was perfect. It was served hot, tasted great, and the service was perfect. Not to mention the place was super clean. If I lived here, I'd be eating here often. read more

Went with my sister and we were in and out in 20 minutes! Great service, great food, clean and nice atmosphere!

Solid Tex Mex. Great, filling food after a long day of play. The menu is comparable to virtually every Tex Mex joint out there. Definitely a safe bet when searching for something similar to your favorite hometown spot. Service was great as well. read more

Amazing food, drinks, service and prices!!! Great place! We were out of town and we ate there (2) nights in a row!

I ordered El Molcajete and it was phenomenal. Also ordered the extra hot sauce which added some tasty heat to my meal. As other reviews mention the staff is great. We sat out front on the patio and enjoyed an excellent meal. Got the Grande Margarita on the rocks, my fave. read more

The food was the pits. I ordered the steak quesadilla which in picture looked full of steak but in reality was blackened onions and green chilis that resembled meat. Beans good but rice bland. My husbands Mexican Chile Rellenos were down right terrible, they should have egg that is nice and browned with cheese on top. He was starved and making faces so I tasted and what I thought was cheese but wet flour that had not been cooked. I will says beans were good but not for $30 plus tip. read more

The high points: Casa Real has amazing customer service, that's for sure . The Queso dip was the BEST I've had in a Mexican restaurant and the retried beans were great. Now the bad: the salsa was watery and bland with a strong ketchup taste . The guacamole was also really bland with no spice or seasoning. The chips, weirdly, had no salt . Maybe they ran out of salt as nothing appeared to be seasoned properly. Not a super fan of the fajitas or nachos, but I would get another order of that queso, any day. read more

Placed a order online and was told 20 minutes i then show up 25 minutes later and my order is not ready and they resume to have me sit and wait for and additional 20 minutes for my order of 3 soft shell tacos and queso nothing I think is too complicated. I almost bypassed this great restaurant on my last trip to Sandusky, OH. I thought it was a fast food place a la Taco Bell and wanted a well-cooked meal, but it was late and the more upscale places had made their last Grubhub deliveries. Boy was I surprised! The food was cooked to perfection and the portions were generous; they even threw in a full bag of nachos and salsa without me asking. The soda cup was movie theater-sized. It was one of the most delicious and satisfying meals I've had in a long time. The decor and atmosphere was pretty festive; I might dine in the next time I visit. read more

OK, so for starters I am hispanic myself and it just bothers me going to "authentic" Mexican resturaunts only to be disappointed by the quality of flavor and or service. I have to admit CASA REAL does a good job at creating their own little piece of Mexico, especially in ohio! It was an all around excellent experience especially with how expensive it can get at Cedar Point and anywhere else in Sandusky. I recommend the number 27 on the menu which i believe is the "taste of guadalajara" or even the big burritos they have, YUMM! Their salsa is amazing, its exactly how grandma makes it, its fabulous. The wait staff can wake up a little though, just make sure you have everything you need when its time to eat; forks, knives, napkins, drinks, and the amazing salsa! I recommend this resturaunt to anybody going to Cedar Point who want good food at a good price. 5 stars! read more

We had spent the day at Cedar Point and decided we'd had enough of the midway fare and wanted to try and find something eclectic and interesting on the way out of town. In the midst of all the chain restaurant BS we saw Casa Real and decided to roll the dice. We're so glad we did! The menu was expansive - something like 80 different combo plates! The chips were fresh and by adding the regular salsa with hot stuff, we made a pretty tasty combo that had just the right amount of kick. Our entrees were delicious and the price was super reasonable. The only odd thing was that while they didn't close until 10, the staff was already vacuuming and cleaning up the tables while we ate our meal at 9:15. Surely odd, but we got a good laugh out of it. I still say Viva la Casa Real! read more

I love Mexican food, and I had to try it in white bread America. It doesn't get more white bread than Sandusky, Ohio. Casa Real's main draw is its flourishing menu of dishes. Lunch specials start at $5! Margaritas at $3! Chips and salsa adorn your table as you sit in a homely atmosphere. This is clearly a family business, one with the parents cooking and the kids serving. I must admit that both times I was there, I had the carnitas. They were too delicious not to order again, even though the menu had other tempting options. Guac tastes a little store bought, but was still tasty. Lots of drinks options, and mixed drinks are stro-ong. In a town where all restaurants close at 8ish, they stayed open until 9pm. Dios mio! Bottom line: good, cheap, authentic Mexican eats and drinks. A bright spot in an otherwise dull city. By the way, you know that Tommy Boy wasn't even filmed here? It was filmed in Canada. CANADA! read more

I don't frequent this spot as often as other but only because of location. I live and work on the other side of town. But it's still one of my favorites. Their salsa has a smokiness to it that keeps you dipping to the point you feel terrible about yourself! And the Margaritas are as dangerous as any. Sit on the patio for a couple hours and you might have to cab it home. I have to say though that I especially love the coffee here. They put a dash of cinnamon in there and it's a complete transformation. If you're not feeling like getting boozy, go for the caffeine. read more

Love this place! In a sea of chain restaurants, we were so happy to find a local, delicious place to eat. I visit every time I go to Cedar Point. A trip just isn't the same without it. Tasty entrees, great variety, and fresh salsa. Servers are attentive, but never hover. Prices are very fair. Margarita pitchers are huge. And a rojo sauce with real flavor! Skip Chili's & head here. read more

We went to Casa Real after a long day of traveling. We saw great reviews on Yelp, so we were excited to get some yummy Tex Mex here. We were told there were no tables available but there were seats at the bar. The bar was empty but we still waited for over 10 mins before some came into the bar area to take our order. We ordered drinks and our entree. My drink was a margarita. Despite having a full bar, the bartender/waiter filled my glass with a Sour Mix he pulled out of the mini fridge. WTF?!?! We then waited for almost 25 mins for our food to arrive. During that time our waiter came back once (about 20 mins into our visit) to see how we were doing. The food was delicious ( we both had burrito grandes), but the service was SLOW and uninspired. If a great dining experience is what you're seeking, this is not the place for you. I'd recommend getting take out from here because the food was delicious! read more

A place like this makes me wish I hadn't filled up on chips and salsa when I got there, because the food was so good (not that the chips weren't, of course.) We came here after a very long day at Cedar Point, completely exhausted. Not expecting much, we went in because we were starved. man, were we wrong. I got the carne asada tacos - it was just little pieces of delicious steak on tortillas, with beans and hot sauce on the side. Since I'm not much of a lettuce person, this was perfect. I did order a side of shredded cheese though to add on, but that was so good. Friends got the combo fajitas, and they said their food was great, too. Makes me wish I didn't live in St. Louis, so I could go here more often. read more

The latest review for this place says that it closed and is now a Chinese restaurant. That is NOT true. There is a Chinese restaurant across the street (in what appears to have been a Mexican restaurant, probably a Taco Bell, at some point), but Casa Real is definitely still open. On to the review... The salsa here was delicious! It had a hint of chipotle, which I love. That was my favorite part of the meal. The rest was so-so, nothing really any better or worse than any other restaurant of this ilk. We didn't try any margaritas, so I can't speak to their quality, but this would certainly feed a craving for run-of-the-mill Mexican fare. read more
