We were walking around after our show at the Gallo Arts Center and decided to try this place across street and it seemed busy. We were seated immediately; however, no one came to take our drink order, and we weren't given menus. After sitting there for about 15 minutes waiting, we noticed a heavyset woman who appeared to be the manager standing around talking while we were trying to get someone's attention for menus. About 20 minutes later, a server finally brought us menus. Another 20 minutes passed before we had to flag someone down just to place our order. At that point, we were already frustrated because we had originally planned to eat at the Indian restaurant next door. We even considered leaving after ordering but decided to wait it out. While we were waiting, a large group seated near the door appeared to be having similar issues. They had been waiting a long time for their check, and the same woman we assumed was the manager was arguing with them about their complaints regarding slow service and delays with their food. Watching the interaction made the atmosphere feel even more uncomfortable and unprofessional. Another 25 minutes passed while we waited for our food, even though we had ordered fairly simple items. When we finally flagged down our server to ask about the delay, our food suddenly came out almost immediately afterward. Unfortunately, the nachos were soggy, as if they had been sitting for a while, and the shrimp sautéed in butter was overcooked and rubbery. By that point, we just wanted to leave and avoid any confrontation, especially after seeing how the manager handled the other table's concerns. Trying to get anyone's attention was difficult, even though there were only a few tables occupied. Eventually, I had to walk up to the bar myself to ask for the check. In the end, we barely touched our food and left disappointed. We even stopped at Taco Bell on the way home because we were still hungry. Sadly, this was a very disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a Mother's Day dinner. On top of the poor service, the music was extremely loud so loud that it was difficult to hold a conversation, and it seemed overwhelming for families as well, especially with a baby nearby crying when the volume was turned up even more. I am giving it 2 stars. 1 for great location and another for friendly staff. Overall, I am disappointed. I ordered the special for drinks and they didn't have the alcohol to make them. It's lent so one of our orders was chile relleno and they were out, The chips were ok but portion was small and the salsa looked amazing but lacked flavor. The side of the bar had unsightly dirty dishes that were not put away during our entire stay which was puzzling. We got shrimp but they only gave us forks so we weren't able to eat the whole shrimp as it was hard to take off the shell on the tail without a butter knife. The food was okay. read more

It's not my first time there. It's actually my 3rd time there. Food is good but I do have to say that service has NOT improved. The other two times I've been there service was not good.. The waitresses need to step it up. It's ridiculous to wait 20 minutes for them to take your order when there are only 3 people in the restaurant already eating. Love every visit here at Casa Maestros . The staff is super friendly and swift when taking orders. Lily is one of the many friendly waitresses here that assisted my cousin and I for our little luncheon. The food here is amazing and never disappoints. **PLEASE READ**If I could give this place no stars I would but I have to give it something. First the food took FOREVER to arrive when there was only one customer there and it was extremely cold. Second the food, just awful. We ordered the Denver omelette lunch special, the chilaquiles lunch special, and two chilaquiles à la casa. The Denver omelette, I don't know if they thought it would "look prettier" combining their pancakes with the omelette and doing a chocolate drizzle on the same plate that the chocolate melted under the omelette and it was not practical and the fries that came with it were super cold. Both the chilaquiles à la casa had chorizo that rancid and spoiled that we could not eat it. We told the waitress and she took it back and said she would replace it with the lunch special chilaquiles. The new chilaquiles came out however the rice and beans were so cold and inedible. Within a couple of bites of the chilaquiles I automatically felt something off in my stomach. I arrived home and threw up three times. The food has to be the absolute worst and MADE WITH LARD! To make matters worse we were charged the chilaquiles à la casa which were $21 and best believe we had not one bite of it other than the taste of a piece of chorizo and sent the plates back fully intact in fear we would get sick from it. We were not charged for the lunch special chilaquiles which were advertised as 13.99. Nor were we given a discount for the inconvenience because if they took forever to bring us our initial food, the replacement chilaquiles took equally as long. My mom and I visited Casa Maestros on Saturday evening, and overall the experience was disappointing, with just a couple of positives. The food came out hot, and the fries were cooked well, but the flavors weren't for us. My mom ordered the cheese enchiladas, and she thought the sauce tasted like a mix of Cholula and water = not much flavor. I had the mini burgers, but they had a strange taste I couldn't get past (though maybe it's someone else's preference). Service was the weakest part of the night. My mom ordered an Apple-tini right when we sat down, hoping to enjoy it before the meal, but it never arrived until after the food came and only after we flagged down a different server. She told our server, Sintia, that she no longer wanted it, and while they offered it at no charge, she declined. We also had to ask another server for water refills since our own server never checked in. The atmosphere was the best part, the music vibe was nice, and the TVs showing different baseball games were a fun touch. But for over $47 for two people before tip, the food and service didn't measure up to the price. There were a couple of positives, but overall, it just wasn't a good experience. This place has a lot of potential, but their service is inconsistent. The drinks are weak, and the food is not well timed. We are a party at four and ordered very simple food. The person in our party that ordered the chicken quesadillas did not receive his food until we were almost finished with ours. Instead of making it right, we just got a lot of excuses. We were told that the reason his food took long was because he ordered meat. Mind you, other people in our party had also ordered meat. When I asked where our drinks were because I had noticed the table behind us, who arrived after us, already had their drinks. We were told they pre-ordered their drinks!? Is that a thing? Came to Modesto for a performance at the Gallo Theater. One of our family had low blood sugar and Sinthia hooked us up with some quick appetizers! Delicious chips, beans, guacamole, and drinks. We came here for a lunch meeting/birthday lunch around 11:45-12 pm on a Wednesday in July, we were the ONLY table there the entire time until we left by 1:30 ish. Our food felt like it took forever to come out, granted there were 10 of us. They are not vegan friendly, nor do they have just whole beans or black beans (per my coworker who is vegan and was upset at the lack of options that were offered). They do not spilt the check, this makes sense if they were busy, but we were the only people there). The food wasn't all that great, just average at best. Side note: they don't have happy hour (been before and they didn't have it). Bar tenders aren't attentive and incredibly slow at making drinks. Sat at the bar, it wasn't even busy, and still waited over five minutes before a bar tender asked me if I wanted anything. And that was after I deliberately made eye contact with them. It took ten minutes for the bar tender to make a cocktail. Empty drinks sat forever on the bar without being cleaned up. My friend joined me at the bar and he wasn't acknowledged either. We finally got the attention of another bar tender and asked what someone else was drinking cause it looked interesting. The bartender told us and instead of offering us one they walked off. Why'd you pass up the chance to make a sale? My friend didn't have a drink and my glass was empty???? Lastly we got the attention of yet another bar tender and asked what the house cocktail was. They told us and we both ordered one. That led into a twenty minute wait in which the first bar tender handed it off to the bar back who seemed way lost. The bartender took over again and seemed to be equally struggling. After twenty minutes we left since we still didn't have our drinks and it looked like it wasn't happening anytime soon. This is my second time coming to this bar and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I just can't believe they are this slow on a not very busy night. There's no excuse to be sitting at a bar waiting more than a minute without at least being acknowledged. Its laziness to not police your bar and get the empty glasses off the bar top so another guest can sit down. Its a sin that it takes more than two minutes to get a simple drink. I can't exactly say that this place was a huge disappointment because when I saw they were rated 3 stars I immediately lowered my expectations. I will say that decor is nice and the location is pretty good. It was a little warm out so but there was a breeze so they left the windows down. That being said... All round, the food was pretty bland. Lacking any seasoning or flavor. My asada quesadilla was decent at best. Meat was fairly tender, but again bland and lacking flavor overall. It's a shame that their red salsa has no flavor as well. It tastes like they just poured a can of tomato sauce and called it salsa. It had ZERO spice as well. My friends' smothered burritos were bland and one of them was cold too. The rice and beans have absolutely no flavor and tasted almost like they were undercooked. Damn shame about this place. It takes a lot to make me rate a place 1 star but it was pretty damn close. read more

We stopped in today for lunch. There were 3 of us. 2 adults and 1 child. And 6 tables were occupied and 2 tables sat before us. Well it literally took half an hour to get our food! Plates were cold so they had not been under any heating lights. Rice and beans were barely warm but not cold. The asada taco meat was over spiced and over cooked. My Norris tacos were hot and good. The chorizo and eggs were hot and good. There was 1 waitress that didn't really make her rounds. At one point we thought maybe she was the cook too!! Because she hardly came around. Finally another waitress came and asked if we were ok and my husband said no we've been waiting for half an hour for our food and she finally said she'll check a few minutes later our food came out. This is our first time at CasaMaestros and I can tell their team is dedicated to making this an experience. We were greeted with chips & salsa, and we got a bean dip. As a manager of a Mexican restaurant, I can tell these beans are made fresh, as well as the salsa. I HIGHLY enjoyed the cocktails that we ordered. They were strong - which is ALWAYS a plus at a restaurant - especially a tequilera. My husband really enjoys negra modelo, so this was a huge plus for us. The filet mignon was medium well just like I like it - tender and juicy. The molcajete was boiling when it came out, only thing I recommend is it be a little less hot just because my husband was waiting to eat it until it chilled. It had a good amount of shrimp. I am definitely coming back in the future - take my word to try this gem out in Modesto. read more

My friend and I stopped by for dinner on a Saturday around 7pm and we're sat immediately at the bar area. They have good music playing and on the tv's there's videos constantly playing, so it's a really relaxed vibe. There was a ton of open space and my friend explained how it was a fairly new place. I ordered a margarita and a Paloma and both were delicious, yet strong! The staff also brought us chips and salsa for the wait. For our meals, I ordered the Camarones Empanizados and my friend ordered the Tamales Verdes. The food arrive in a timely manner and although the meal was large, I personally was not a fan of my shrimps, it was more breading than shrimp. Although the beans were my fav, really good! My friend did like her tamales though! Overall, it was a good experience. The staff was very aware of us and kept checking in to make sure we didn't need anything. I will say for a Saturday, the restaurant was pretty slow and empty, which we found surprising as the food and drinks were good. They also started rolling in a dj and a waitress talked to us about how for a couple weeks now they've been turning it into a lounge scene in the after hours. We looked on the IG page to get more info and there was none so maybe more marketing would me it stand out more? Don't know, but dinner was okay and drinks were great! read more
