I would normally rate this location very highly but today for lunch they really disappointed me! I understand they are slammed for lunch, that's not the issue. We put our name in for the wait, which we were told wouldn't be long. But while we are waiting a couple comes in and apparently they knew the manager and were seated immediately. Casa is a Fort Wayne institution from what I understand. They have a pretty broad variety of conventional Italian dishes. We had the pork mac and cheese and chicken marsala with sides of roasted vegetables and linguine between us. The linguine had a garlic butter which was flavorful while being light enough. I've had chicken marsala at a number of Italian restaurants - this is the first place to serve with bell peppers instead of mushrooms - but what do I know? The marsala sauce itself was decent but nothing special. The pork itself was very tender and flavorful and the Mac & cheese was adequate. The bread wasn't super fresh but was complementary. Would I choose to dine on another Fort Wayne visit? .. not on my accord since there are so many high quality restaurants to choose from. read more

This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant in town! The restaurant is large with plenty of seating. There is a bar area, as well, if you are looking for a more intimate feel. They also have a private room that is available to rented out for parties. You can always count on two things when you come here, consistent service and food quality. The staff is always friendly, professional and attentive. You can always count on a carb load when you come here. Fresh bread is delivered to your table. They also have beer, wine and full bar service available. A few of my favorite entrees from the menu include pasta con verdura and mostaccioli al forno. Remember how I said carb load? Dishes come in HUGE portions and you will easily have leftovers. But they always taste fresh and full of flavor. Four solid stars for Casa in my book! read more

Once you've had food in Italy, practically anything in the US is uncompareable but I feel generous with 3 stars on this review. Let me preface this by saying I haven't had a good experience in Casa's in along time. In fact last 3 have just been plain below average. So many food inconsistencies, and slow service. But we were here for a fundraiser event and there were some bright spots. We were sat fairly quickly but it took about 15 minutes for our server to even greet us and get a drink order And another 5-10 to actually get the drinks. Being in the industry for 10+ yrs, I just find that unacceptable. I watched other tables who came in after us get there good before we even had a chance to order. Once he got everything together our servers table maintenance was good. Refills and extras were prompt so I just took it as he got double sat and allowed himself to get behind. It happens. Food: I ordered pork chops and they were monstrous. Good sauce. Ordered risotto as side.. Tasted like it was drown in a cream of mushroom soup...don't recommend. Italian vegetables were excellent. Tried my kids chicken Alfredo. Not a fan. Heavy, heavy ricotta taste. The Wedding soup was amazing. Casa salads are legendary so no issues there. read more

Cheap Italian food. It's really hard to go wrong here. Love their brick oven pizzas and their classic dishes like spaghetti & meatballs are the best. If you go here you MUST get Casa's signature salad. It's their best salad and the large easily feeds 3-4 people (big servings). Their baked pastas are better than the stovetop pastas. I tried the Pollo Romano and wasn't that impressed - it was a very small piece of cheese crusted chicken over a ridiculously large amount of noodles. Meh. I ordered the baked mostaccioli and it wasn't so baked. Yes the top had a blanket of cheese on it but once you cut thru that it was so over sauced and under baked it was like soup. Had lunch here a week ago. Really enjoyed it, thought it was a great lunch deal. Good portions, good food and great service.

I really wanted to love this restaurant but the food just did not impress me. Our server was very attentive and friendly, kept our water topped off, and kept bread on the table while we waited for our meals, so a big kudos to the staff. There was a bottle of oil with herbs on the table for bread-dipping, rosemary and garlic I think, good flavor and a nice touch of personality/uniqueness for the restaurant. I started with bread. It was good but nothing special, not warm and just regular bread with butter. They do that half-slicing-thing where the bread looks sliced but it's only halfway through and requires wrestling and squashing to get the slices apart. Please don't do this to people, it's frustrating, and starts the meal on a bad note. The house salad had a good concept going but the iceberg lettuce was soggy with dressing so it just ended up being a distraction for my fork until the pasta arrived. I don't consider it promising when a restaurant's signature dish involves a pile of iceberg lettuce. Lasagna is one of the dishes that I judge Italian restaurants by. This was, I find myself trying to be nice here, but it was awful, just way too sweet, completely drowning in marinara, and a confusingly small portion compared to my other entree considering the similar prices. It reminded me a little of an Italian restaurant I visited in Tokyo, I'll just leave it at that. The other pasta I tried was a baked pasta dish with spicy cream sauce that was good, a bit heavy on the cheese topping, but had a nice depth of flavor to it. If I ever end up here in the future that's what I would get. Dessert: I loved the dessert of tiramisu that ended the evening on a positive note, with a delicate flavor and perfect creamy custard texture, the ladyfingers soaked but not soggy which can be a tough balance to get. Atmosphere: It's been very crowded when I went, Friday nights in Fort Wayne that's to be expected most places. The dining room has a nice Mediterranean decor. Sitting at a table in the center of a crowded room is pretty loud and not romantic. The edges of the room might be nice if you get there early enough. In summary, some pluses and minuses, but not going to make my list of favorite Italian restaurants. read more

My dad really wanted to go to Casa for his birthday dinner. We were visiting from out of town, but he's from there so he knows that he likes the food and wanted somewhere nice. We have a big extended family in town, so our party was 14 people. I called to make a reservation.... and they won't take them on weekends (maybe ever?). Why restaurants do this is beyond me. With a group of 14 people, we weren't going to take a chance on not being able to be seated for who knows how long my dad's birthday, especially considering that my elderly grandparents were going to be with us. I tried to reason with them but they wouldn't budge. They lost a huge ticket as we went elsewhere and had several drinks, appetizers, meals and desserts. My dad decided we'd go with a group of 4 people for lunch instead, since he really did want to go there, but not enough to have dinner without the guarantee of a table. I had the house salad - warning, the larger size is HUGE! The waitress told us the size but we didn't realize it was a huge bowl, not a plate. It was way more than I could've eaten. The salad was ok. The bread was ok too, a little old seeming, as it wasn't as soft as it could have been. I liked that they brought oil and parmesan for it. My husband liked his BLT pizza and my dad was happy with his chopped salad. We might come back, but only with a small group, which is rare with our clan. For a big group, we won't eat here unless they change their reservation policy. read more

I've been to this location before and truly enjoyed my experience so it was a natural choice to bring my family together for a birthday celebration. We had a private area toward the back of the restaurant. Very nice for our large group. Our server was kind and talkative. Very engaging. It would have been nice to have a second server or helper as drink refills, taking and placing of the order and table maintenance was a concern. The two guests the ordered spaghetti and meatballs waited an extended period of time for their entrees. The server stated that she had to wait for clean plates to get the food out. Strange concept to have enough plates to serve your guests. Steak kabobs were good but cold. Pastas were over sauced and broccoli was mushy. Carbonara seems a strange yellow color and tastes cheesy. But the strangest of all is their version of Chicken Marsala. Not a mushroom on the plate rather, bell peppers in a reddish sauce with Italian seasoning. I actually thought I had received the wrong dish but after checking back to the menu realized the peppers are listed and mushrooms are not. I can't imagine the sauce had Marsala wine in it but I didn't taste the dish. I don't like peppers especially cooked in a sauce. The shellfish linguine was great and the salad is amazing. I checked out this place just east of the Interstate in a cold Hoosier January, on an evening stop during the road trip to Mississippi. This restaurant to me felt like dining out with a close friend on a weekend. I liked the waiter I had for my service. He was very respectful and friendly. I even asked him what kind of non-alcoholic drinks they have, and he even gave me the list that I could borrow. My mom had the Linguine Tutto Mare, which is linguine with slivered mushrooms and seafood. It was very delicious, she said. I had the Lasagne Carne Amante, which is basically the meat lover's lasagna. It was phenomenal! I wonder if you wonder why your bar is lacking new people staying st the bar to eat. Well for one thing, the waitresses think it's perfectly acceptable to come in sit next to the men, interrupt a conversation you are having and complain how short handed they are. I certainly decided to get my dinner to go and not get another drink. While talking to someone I met later, she came back and plopped herself down next to the only two men at the bar and did her receipts continuing to complain about everything completely ignoring the two women who were talking to those men. No one wants to compete with the help at the bar. If you want more people, women in particular to come in, maybe tell the waitresses, we are the ones spending the money. I have talked to other women and that's why we, they don't hang there. Why do you allow the employees to do that? read more

Our recent Casa meal was a very mixed bag. The special Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza was innovative and tasty. The special Chicken Cannelloni on first bite was still cold in the center. The waitress took it back for the kitchen to reheat, It came back with the cream sauce bubbling on one side, but the interior of the other side was still cold. So, I ate the hot part and left the rest as not being safe to eat. The whole entree was bland with too much sauce anyway. The management graciously took it off the bill. My other comment is the state of the restroom, which shows little attention to long-term maintenance. The entrance door badly needs painting. There is dirt in the corners and grout of the tile floor. The sink/faucet area looks old and worn. There is the old saw that when the restrooms are not clean, the kitchen is probably suspect too. I have recently seen several TV ads for the Casa restaurants. Maybe some of that advertising budget should go to upgrading the facilities instead. Casa used to be a dependably fine experience. It is falling behind its competition. read more

Been here twice. Came here again after reading several reviews claiming that the salad was amazing. My wife and I got the salad and added the Chicken add-on option to them. I got the large and she got the small. The large was enough salad for both of us. The small was enough salad for for one person that wants a salad as a meal. I Casa salad dressing was good but not present throughout the salad. In both our bowls the dressing was only found at the bottom of the bowl. In the small bowl it would have been easier to manage to mix the dressing with the rest of the salad. In the large bowl, it was just too much salad to get a good spread. The chicken add-on for the salad was amazing. It was grilled chicken and tasted so good. I would have enjoyed the chicken as a meal. My daughter got the Alfredo dish with a link of sausage on top. It was a huge dish of Alfredo pasta with one link of sausage on it. She likes to compare that dish to what she has at Olive Garden. She said it was OK but not as good. I tried her Alfredo and found that it tasted like Alfredo, but was not bursting with flavor. They give you two small loaves of bread with olive oil and parmesan to mix and dip for free while you wait on your meal. We will return and try different dishes in the future. First yelp shout out to the hometown! I loves me some Casa. Casa is a family owned Italian chain exclusive to Fort Wayne. I believe they have about five or six restaurants in the FW area. This outpost is the closest to my parents' house, but I have been to the others on occasion. All boast wonderful service, quality food for stellar prices, and great atmosphere. Let me give you a quick run down on my Casa history: *I went to Casa on my first date. It was a Christmas dance and I believe I was 15. I ate salad. But in my defense, their salad is AMAZING and legendary in FW. It's got this amazing onion-y dressing with hints of anchovy and lots of parmesan. We order it all the time for family functions. *After getting my wisdom teeth out when I was 17, I wanted Casa as my first non-pureed meal. I got their BBQ chicken pizza. Their woodstove-fired pizzas rule. *Recently during the holidays, we took a rowdy group of 14 of my family to Casa. The fact that they were able to put up with us and get all our orders right and keep the drinks coming was a true testament to their awesomeness. *This week, while home caring for my ill father, Casa takeout supplied my Mom and I with a great meal during a trying time. Baked mostaccoli and Casa salad really comforted and filled up hungry tummies. If you're ever in the FW area and want a good meal for pretty cheap, this is where I'd suggest. On a recent trip, I flew into and out of Fort Wayne, even though I was going to Ohio. The night before the return flight we stayed in a hotel in Fort Wayne (because the return flight was so early), and I did a Yelp! search for nearby restaurants. The Casa Ristorante was very close to our hotel and Italian sounded good, so we went there. It was INCREDIBLE. It was a mesh of fancy restaurant and family restaurant that I seldom encounter - the food was delicious and beautifully presented, but the restaurant was prepared for and able to cater to our family (we were traveling with our eight-month-old son!) as well as children in other parties. (I think they did have all the 'family' groups in one area so as to allow some other diners to avoid having to listen to baby squeals or fussing; if so, I applaud them, for the sake of everyone who wanted to avoid babies!) The house salad was, as mentioned in the other review, wonderful. And I forgot it before I finished it because the lentil soup I'd also ordered was to die for. It was so good I was sorry I'd ordered an entree because I'd have liked to eat a couple or three bowls of the lentil soup instead of just that cup. It is one of the best soups I have ever had. I had tilapia for my entree and it was good - not as good as the lentil soup, but as good as the house salad. I'd have loved it if I hadn't still been pining after the soup, and as it was I liked it. My husband had a pasta-and-meat dish that was also tasty (I tried a bite or two!); I forget which one, precisely. We shared a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce for dessert. The slice was large and the cake rich - not only enough to share but, given how full we were, half of it went back to the hotel with us - but despite the "family restaurant" size, the presentation was GORGEOUS, with criss-crossed raspberry sauce in a grid pattern. It was so pretty I had to photograph it, and then we started eating. It was so heavenly. The prices are closer to "family restaurant" than to "fancy food" - as are the portion sizes - while the quality and presentation are firmly in the "fancy food" category. They are an incredibly good value for their price range, in terms of quality and quantity of food. I only wish I could have brought the entire restaurant home with me. If I travel through Fort Wayne again, I WILL find a way to get back to this restaurant. read more

Friday evening is not the best time to go to Casa Ristorante because this place is so popular. I usually enjoy dining here but prefer the bar. The restaurant is extremely noisy, especially when it's crowded. We ended up at a table in the restaurant and could barely hear ourselves think. But the bigger issue was our server who must be new, or could use more training. We ordered appetizers and were interrupted several times with questions about size, timing, that should have been asked in the first place. We were with a friend we hadn't seen for a long time and were not in a hurry and wanted to talk. He asked us twice about our entrees and we finally placed our order. As we feared, he brought our entrees when we had barely started our appetizers. To me that is the worst thing any server can do. We asked if he couldn't take them away and he did he couldn't. Could he just put them on the empty table next to us. Well, he couldn't do that either. He did not return later to see if we wanted more drinks, and he never asked about dessert. Our dinner overall was very good, despite the crowd noise. But it could have gone more smoothly with a server who knew his job. read more

Walking in, you immediately feel like you've gone in a restaurant, but that feeling is mixed with slight confusion as to why you took the rear entrance. I think there is a hostess that greets people there, but I did not run into her this time, so I ultimately felt like I was in the way of everything. Five minutes later, after I continued advancing forward to the point of assuming I am supposed to find my own seat, I was greeted by a smiling server who help me return to where I should've been waiting, apparently. Promptly seated, I started with a glass of their Malbec, which was very balanced and fabulously priced at $7.50. I can't say anything special about the service at this point other than it being prompt, period. Moving on, I tried the lentil soup which was extremely salty and outright confusing, since it had more greens (god knows what, maybe kale? spinach?) than lentils, so it defied its name. Unfazed, I then ventured for the grilled salmon, which should have read incinerated. It was cooked so much that the level of lab-grade dehydration though the grilling was impeccably done. It came with a variety of veggies that were delicious and well seasoned. To top this adventure off, I tried the cannoli, which had its merits but left me wondering if it were a real cannoli. I really don't know - suffices to say that the cookie shell was very tough and brittle, and had plenty of cinnamon in it. But the cream was very light and sweet enough to make you feel content with the dessert choice. And I bolted right after. read more

I've ate at this restaurant twice now with a 2 year break in between visits. Both times Casa hit the spot. The menu is quite extensive, lots of different pastas and Veal/Chicken dishes. I can't recall what I had the first time, but this time I had Penne con Salsiccia E Pepperoni (Spicy) with the add on Roasted Chicken. It was very tasty, and quite spicy for Italian food. I don't think there is anything they need to change...the bar was spacious, if I had to pick something wrong I'd say they should raise the prices. $12.50 for that heaping pile of Spicy Italian goodness is a steal....I mean, I'm a fat man and there was enough sausage left over in my Penne for a Bratwurst. Free bread and oil is always a good thing in my book! The portions are absolutely massive. I ordered the mushroom pasta in a light butter sauce, the exact name was a little hard to pronounce as you expect from an Italian restaurant, and a Casa salad. The salad was covered in dressing but it wasn't too overpowering. I did find the croutons a little oily but that is just my preference. The pasta came out piping hot so give it a moment to cool! It was pretty good, plus there was enough for lunch the next day. Which makes it a decent value for the price. The dining floor is absolutely massive and spacious but it seems like they try to fill the spots by the windows first which is nice but does become a little cramped. read more

I've visited this Casa many times. Hit or miss with the food and the service, however, remain loyal to a locally owned business and the gathering place to see friends over the years. Unfortunately, today, when hoping to make a reservation for a birthday dinner this evening, I was told no reservations. "Come 30-45 minutes early and we'll probably be able to seat you on time." "Before I actually want to eat?" I asked. "Before you want to meet your party." What? So then another 30-45 to actually eat. So why not just take my reservation? This makes me want to just go somewhere else. Why not keep business flowing, the waiting crowd in the lobby down to a minimum (it gets very crowded), and do what works for your CUSTOMERS? I'm not going to waste nearly an hour of my day to come 45 minutes early to sit in a crowded lobby for food and service that's okay, not great. If I wanted to do that, I'd keep my sweatpants on and go to ihop. read more
