We were so…read moreexcited this past week to see tacos de asada (steak meat) and pastor (pork) wrapped in corn tortillas. The meat was juicy with just enough seasoning. The corn tortillas were not homemade, but they were fresh and had a nice rich corn flavor. Make sure to order your tacos with onion and cilantro. For some that are not used to this, you may want to stray away; but you will not regret it. Squeeze plenty of lime to draw out the flavor of the seasoning. My mouth is watering as I write this review. The red salsa has a nice spice and chili flavor to it and the green has a nice flavor of jalapeños with a more mild spice. My kids are usually picky, but they didn't complain about the rice, beans, burritos, and quesadillas. During my week here in Churubusco, I have had three different families ask me if I have tried the food yet. Each of them spoke highly of the portion sizes and the flavor. This place does not hold back on the servings. Your dollars will not be taken advantage of here. Lol I'm hoping that the restaurant will be officially opened when I come back and I hope there will be menudo, chilaquiles, homemade tortillas and breakfast burritos (chorizo con huevos/papas con huevos (hint hint...lol)!

It's an open area on the lower level of what used to be a mini-mall. There are offices and shops on the main floor and Los Amores is downstairs. If you have trouble with stairs, there is an elevator but you have to search for it. It's not immediately noticeable from the street level. This seems to be a family-run restaurant. Since it was so late for lunch there weren't many people there, but I heard one woman say she comes there every day for lunch. I got the shrimp tacos and added avocado slices. The tacos were very good! We also got fried ice cream and THAT was terrific. I would definitely come back. I didn't care for the complimentary chips and salsa. Don't know why, but that's just what I thought at the time. There was a sign saying they have Trivia Night and other events throughout the week.

We are from the West and wanted to try it out. We got there for an early dinner. The place has been open only a few weeks. It was clean and we were waited on immediately. The server was very patient and knowledgeable. I asked if they carried lengua or buche; no. There is no green chili anything on the menu. I asked for street tacos El Pastor; they were out. I ordered chicken enchiladas and husband ordered the closest thing he could find to a green chili burro (Dorado). The salsa was sweet with no tang. I did detect some cilantro in the salsa but that was it for spices for the rest of the meal. We doused our salsa with bottled green jalapeño sauce to give it some flavor. Our food arrived. The enchilada sauce tasted like a cross between enchilada sauce and ketchup. There was a lot of shredded chicken in the enchiladas. Husband said the burro was unremarkable. The rice was good, the refried beans needed salt and weren't cooked in lard. There were absolutely no spices in the food-missing were cumin, cilantro, chili, etc. Mexican food doesn't have to be hot, but it does typically have intense flavors to it. This was totally bland. Anyway, as I checked and and paid the bill, the cashier asked if I had enjoyed the food. I told her this was not typically the Mexican food we were used to in the West. She said that that was true, but what they served worked in the Midwest. And she's right. The restaurant has received a lot of good reviews on Yelp. Hopefully it will do well for the palates it serves. But if you're from the West/Southwest, you will be disappointed.

When our order finally came out, my 2‑cheese‑enchilada platter showed up with only the enchiladas. No rice, no beans. When I asked about it, the server walked away, then turned around and basically shouted, "DO YOU WANT RICE?" At that point I just said forget it. The person with me never received her guacamole appetizer. The server never returned, no refill, no check, so we went to the counter to pay. Since we had no tickets, the cashier had to get the same server to ring us up. I mentioned the missing guacamole, and he was clearly irritated. I told him she wasn't paying for something she never received. Then he rang up my meal and STILL charged me for the full platter. I paid it just to avoid him causing a scene, but the attitude was unbelievable. I understand being busy and overheated, but taking it out on customers, refusing to acknowledge mistakes, and trying to charge for items never served (and did charge for items never served} is exactly why this place keeps dropping in ratings. Food was mediocre. Service was rude. Prices keep going up while the customer experience keeps going down. They've never corrected a single issue I've had here. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. The laminated menus were filthy and sticky as well, take some hand sanitizer.
