We frequent this establishment and find when it is good, it is very good, but unfortunately, it is not consistent. For example, the chicken basket purchased this evening is a 50/50 chance of being a fail. Tonight was a fail (again). The Chicken was very dark and dry to the point of being unpleasant to eat. We have had them forget the sauce in the past while giving inconsistent portions. But they topped everything tonight..... a couple of the potato wedges were actually ROTTEN. I have never eaten a rotten potato until tonight, I can tell you a rotten potoato tastes just how it woud smell and immediately kills the appetite. In the past we have received salads with missing ingredients, so stopped ordering salads. It always feels risky ordering take out from the Italian Grill. We have attempted to notify management in the past , with no response or care. If you like playing food roulette, you may enjoy it. But for me, I think it is time to take them off our take out list. read more

To me, this is the best family owned restaurant in Auburn! This staff is always excellent. So many menu options to choose from include a dessert tray with carrot cake, numerous cheesecakes, and cannolis. Everyone that comes here says how great the food is. This is a quaint little Italian restaurant in a strip mall. We were looking for a lunch place, and we fell upon this restaurant as we were driving through town. The server was absolutely wonderful, super friendly and attentive, and dressed in Halloween attire during our visit as it was right before Halloween. As always, there was complementary house, bread with olive oil, and Parmesan cheese, which is a must for any Italian restaurant. After ordering our food, I was a little bit disappointed with my chicken marsala. The food itself just didn't seem to have that higher quality sit down restaurant feel. My wife and I regularly get dinner at The Italian Grille. The staff is always friendly and rarely are you waiting to be seated. The outdoor seating, while not vast, is a nice addition during the warmer weather months. The food is good here and in my opinion has the best burgers around. read more

We ordered pizzas from The Italian Grille this past weekend. 2 gluten free and 1 "regular" crust. The pizzas were piled high with toppings which was awesome. They do the square cut style on the slices. (Not my favorite as I prefer the classic triangles but I'll still eat it ). I suppose with the super thick toppings it would be impossible to pick up a triangle slice. The GF crust was thicker than most GF pizzas. It was much more like a "normal crust" which was good. My one complaint was that the pizza was fairly light on the cheese. So maybe order "extra cheese" if you want lots of cheese. But all in all they were great pizzas read more

I thought I would just grab a sandwich on my way home after a long day at work with no lunch. Usually love eating here but I ordered an Italian sandwich, spent $11 on it only to be disappointed when I got home. This sandwich had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Had 2 pieces of ham 2 pieces of salami two pieces of cheese onions and supposed to have Italian dressing. Should have just gone to Krogers and bought my own stuff. Would have been a lot cheaper and would have had flavor. Won't be ordering this again. Not worth the money read more

So far in 2 visits a friend and I have enjoyed everything we have tried. She is particularly excited about the large wine pours. I've had pasta and pizza, both were above average. The menu brags about their wings so that will be the next attempt. Oh and the bread served with dinner is awesome!!!!!! It's not quite the ambiance that keeps you racing back as it is located in a strip mall and the bar area (our preference) has no real identity. Italian Grille is one of the best restaurants in Auburn. Their burgers are the best in town, hands down. Friendly staff, and they are the best with kids! Kids meals come prior to adults so it can cool, and they even give them a chocolate chip cookie. read more

Sub par Italian food, have eaten there about 2-3 times on location and ordered take out once. Take out service was disappointing. Missing food that supposed to be included in the order placed. When mentioned the manager said sorry, if you want it, it will be an extra charge. Did lunch. Service fantastic especially given all tables were filled. Beer cold - glass frosted. Grilled brueschetta was divine - crisp but not chewy bread and a nice topping of litely seasoned dice tomats and feta. Meatball sandwich was to die for. Balls were perfect size -generous portion and NOT drowned in marinara and cheese. They were also very tender, juicy (not greasy) and nicely seasoned. Just got the seasoned kettle chips with it but no disappointment - hot, crunchy and tasty. Best of all the owner wandered out of the kitchen to stop by the table to ask if everything was ok. I heard such great things about this place. Stopped on my way home and picked up dinner. Purchased two plain sausage rolls. Got home and was saddened to find out they have onions on them. Just tried the Italian Grill for the first time and truly had a wonderful experience. Our server was personal and friendly. I had the filet steak (medium) that was perfect. Temperature and tenderness was spot on. The deserts are all made fresh from a great bakery in Fort Wayne. I will be coming back real soon. read more

This is a great alternative to highway-area food. I travel through Auburn all the time and for once I was not driving, so I got on the iPhone and figured out a place to go where my kids could eat real food. I found the Italian Grille. It will take a few extra minutes to get there in comparison to the highway-centric restaurants, but it's worth it. It was Sunday lunch and the place was mostly empty. It was relaxing. I enjoyed the plentiful windows. It's been over a month, so I don't specifically remember being floored by the food. But, then again, I would remember if it was bad. Food alone would be bordering 3-4 stars. Because it was very kid-friendly (1 and 3 year olds) it gets the four. High prices with tiny portions. I ordered chicken marsala. It literally came with a half of a chicken breast, with two slices of tomato as a side for $17. Didn't even come over a bed of pasta. The chicken was not made with marsala wine. It had some weird brown gravy on top Not the normal redish mushroom sauce. The girlfriend got chicken alfredo. It taste like buttered noodles with a couple chunks of rubbery chicken for $18. Ordered 4 breadsticks for $7. They were your "run of the mill" boxed and frozen breadsticks. I'm giving this a solid 3 stars mainly because I only had pizza. If I go back I may upgrade. We'll see. We came for lunch on a Sunday. We were seated quickly, service was prompt and attentive. General decor was nice, nothing fancy. The music was Christian Rock and I'm sorry, but I just don't get it at a restaurant, especially an 'Italian' restaurant. My husband has been here during the week and claims it wasn't playing then. My husband, daughter and I all got individual pizzas. Margherita for me, cheese for my daughter, and sausage for my husband. My son had the spaghetti with meat sauce. Mine was good, I've had better but it was good. Hubby's had big chunks of sausage, not the little chunks that look like they came from frozen, and was tasty. Also served with our meal was bread and oil, also good. Our bill was $33-can't beat that. My son's originally came with marinara sauce instead of meat sauce and was quickly fixed. I ordered tea and our waitress specifically asked if I wanted a lemon and I said no. And guess what? It came with a lemon. So wasteful. I noticed a sign on the wall that said on Sundays you can purchase a large pizza and get a small free. Visited this place last Saturday. Place was busy, but was able to get seated right away in the bar area. Very noisy, tables and booths uncomfortably close to other diners, and the lights were way too bright. What compounded the bright lights were the fact that this place is located in a strip mall and there are large glass front windows which made the situation even worse. I ordered the sausage sandwich which is basically a sausage patty shaped liked a hamburger with grilled peppers. My wife had the Italian panini on a pretzel bun. The sausage sandwich was good, but the patty was a bit under-cooked. My wife's panini was way too small to be called a main course - it was almost like an appetizer. The steak fries that came with one of the sandwiches were cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor. The bill with one soda and a water was over $20 dollars which is way high for what we got. The main reason we ordered the sandwiches was that the pasta dishes were very high priced and based on watching other tables were on the smallish side and didn't look that great. We had been here once before and ordered the pizza and as I recall it was very similar in the sense that it was just OK and too expensive. Overall I cannot recommend this place because of the lack of atmosphere, the high prices, and the just OK food. Too many places just a short drive to Fort Wayne that do a much better job. read more

I have been to the Italian Grille several times and I love their food. However this time the service is what forces me to give it one star. I was the second person in the restaurant when it opened and I ordered a side salad and a bowl of soup. An hour later I got my salad but no soup. When I asked the waitress about it her excuse was they were extremely busy and something happened to their printer and their orders. I pointed out to her though that everyone around me who came in later than I did already had their food and were ready to pay their bills. I asked for the manager and she came back and explained that he was too busy to talk to me that she should just make it right. Her idea of making it right was to offer me a piece of cheesecake. Really? She did however take the soup off of my bill and I paid for the salad. An hour and 15 minutes later I walked out of there very unsatisfied. I thought about inviting friends with me to experience this restaurant but now I'm thinking twice about it. I think I will stick with Salvatori's in Fort Wayne read more
