My recent dining experience at Casa di David in Amsterdam was nothing short of magical, combining delectable Italian cuisine with unique and charming elements that set it apart from the rest. I had the pleasure of dining at Casa di David after a quick Google search advised it was one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, and I must say, the experience pleasantly exceeded my expectations.
Reservations are very highly recommended, and it was evident why when we arrived at 8 PM to find the restaurant buzzing with many diners - a mixture of couples and larger groups. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was enchanting - only should by the person who seated us as he chastised me for not smiling as I have the name for our reservation (odd behavior, but I didn't let that spoil the night) We were promptly seated at a cozy table on the second floor, offering a picturesque view of the canal through a charming picture window - setting the stage for a romantic evening to celebrate our anniversary!
The restaurant's cool decor featured oversized scroll menus on the tables that added a touch of vintage elegance. Maneuveung those gigantic scrolls at the tiny table was a little cumbersome, but The detailed descriptions on the menus heightened our anticipation for the culinary journey ahead, making the act of choosing dishes an experience in itself. We also had a front-row seat to the restaurant's innovative dumbwaiter system. Operated by well-oiled rope pulleys, the system seamlessly transported dishes from the bustling kitchen below to our elevated perch. It was a fascinating spectacle that added an extra layer of charm to the dining experience.
For starters, we indulged in the Octopus and a Cheesy Eggplant dish. Both appetizers were delightful, hitting the spot with flavors that left us eager for the courses to follow.
The main course featured a plate of Spaghetti Amatriciana, showcasing a perfect blend of spicy and meaty sauces with tender chunks of beef. The flavors were exquisite, making it a dish to remember. My honey opted for the Osso Bucco with saffron risotto, and the tenderness of the meat combined with the rich saffron-infused risotto created a symphony of taste that delighted our palates.
To complement our meal, we chose a Tuscan red wine, and it proved to be a perfect pairing, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Dessert was a grand finale, with a sampler dish that included Tiramisu, a heavenly Panna cotta drizzled with raspberry sauce, and a warm chocolate lava cake that oozed with delicious chocolate. Each bite was a sweet revelation, concluding our meal on a high note.
The attentive service, charming ambiance, and, most importantly, the outstanding cuisine make Casa di David a standout choice for Italian dining in Amsterdam.
